Hickory Small Animal Hospital always goes above and beyond for our fur baby Oliver. He has been neutered here, gotten all his vaccinations here, they helped when he had an eye ulcer and recently took him in asap when he had a seizure at home for the first time. They treat your baby as if they are their own. It will forever be our choice in Vet care for our little Ollie. The whole staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Recommend 110%!

I will say this.. I brought one of my dogs in for an unknown abcess on her mouth - the vets were baffled and couldn't figure it out. Lab tests, Blood work and $ 300 later they still couldn't figure it out and said to give her this steroid cream to see if it would work. Well.. It didn't work! So basically I was charged $300 to be told they had no idea what was going on with my pup. After research I discovered that all it was, was a skin tag and this was easily taken care of with a little bit of diluted ACV. The second time I went to this vet a couple weeks ago out of sheer desperation because my normal vet couldn't get me in sooner... My pup managed to somehow hurt his nail pretty bad and was bleeding, I was told that they would have to remove a part of his nail so I ok'd the bloodwork, catheter and sedation and was quoted at $300-$400 before my discount, so I estimated my total amount being under $300. The vet contacted me after she was don't with his nail telling me that she just needed to clean the nail up to stop the bleeding and that the total cost would be over $500! $500 for a cleaning! Thats ridiculous. I wouldn't have ok'd the lab work and such if all he needed was a cleaning. The owner did refund me $100. I have yet to see that credit in my account and it has been over a week. I should've just went to my regular vet and they would've squeezed me in after seeing my pups foot instead of financially being taken advantage of, I was just in a panic mode and wanted him to be seen asap and the soonest I could get in with anyone was at Hickory. Their staff is kind and polite but the amount they charge is ridiculous.

They treat her, and us, like family, but still keep it professional. They care for their patients as if they were their own pets! They've helped me out when she needed emergency appointments and always work with me. Will never go anywhere else for vet care!

Dr baldwin and de Farrell are amazing but so is everyone I have came in contact with here. All of the front desk staff were very attentive to everything. Great selection of flea and heartworm medications to fit any need. I like the openness of the waiting room in case some dogs dont get along with others. They also offer another location in Independence which is great if I am ever in need of a quick visit I am closer to home and they will have my dogs records.

Amazing place. They have always taken care of our babies and been extremely helpful and knowledgable, kind and available. I would give my highest recommendation to anyone who is on the fence about taking their pets here over a closer vet. These guys are simply amazing and we will never take our pets anywhere else.

Love going here. Hickory takes great care of my babies whenever we go. I have two dogs (a pomchi and a bloodhound mix) and one cat. They are always gentle and answer every question I have. My dogs have little anxiety when going. I feel prices are reasonable. If I just go in for my pomchi's monthly shot they will take him back instead of putting us in a room. That way I am not charged the cost of a full visit. Their sister location in Independence is wonderful too! I really like Dr. Anderson and how she gives thorough explanations.

Absolutely wonderful. I noticed a lump on one of my rat's jaw and a nasty scabby bump on another's neck. I immediately started calling around. Hickory was able to take me the next business day as a new patient! Unfortunately, I had some schedule changes, which they accommodated and allowed my two fuzzies to be dropped off. I was called after the first examination for a recap and to give me my options. I chose to have the abscess lanced and drained as well as put him on antibiotics. When I picked them up after work, the staff was so friendly and recapped everything that happened and had all of the antibiotics dosed in individual syringes! VERY very happy with this amazing vet clinic!!

Hickory small animal hospital staff gives everyone the same great quality veterinary care and customer service and that makes us different from any where else ! The drs , technicians, and even receptionists are trained to meet higher standards for the best veterinary care ! I will not take my babies any where else , I did once a long time ago and if it weren't for me coming to hickory my veteran of the group would no longer be here with the help of the drs at Hickory we have slowed his progression of his disease and are treating his nasty heart worms and thanks to them I'll have more time with my old man tuxedo ! Big thanks to all the drs and staff at hickory that do such a great job on a daily basis , they are always there for you from the first puppy visit , yearly visit , and even sick visits , and when it's time to help your babies cross over the colorful rainbow they will be there too ! This is was true compassion in veterinary care looks like ! If you have never had a chance to witness that come by hickory small animal hospital and see for yourself how amazing and how easy bringing your baby to the doggie dr can be !

Good for a vet, not for boarding... My dog can only have specific food because of stomach issues, I brought his food and a scoop for measuring his food, I only put enough for the time he would be staying and I specifically measured it into the bag.He had a specific schedule I asked to be followed and was told it would be. It was not, he was not fed his food because the bag had the same amount left in it as it did when I dropped him off. He had horrible diarrhea for 2 days after he came home

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for the amazing team at Hickory Small Animal Hospital! Everyone there is truly awesome. They treat my fur babies like they are their own. Anyone looking for great care and a veterinary clinic that has the latest and greatest technology, this is the place to go! The doctors always take time to talk me through all my options and answer my questions thoroughly and with compassion. I have been going to Hickory Small Animal Hospital since they opened in 2009, the care has always been excellent but this year it was exceptional. Two of my fur babies were diagnosed with cancer and Dr. Farrell and the staff went above and beyond to ensure they got the best care possible. They walked me through every test ran, every x-ray/ultrasound done and every option to help me make the best decision possible for my hearts! And when it was time to let my babies go Dr. Farrell was there to support us every step of the way, making the dog and us as comfortable and cared about as possible. I would encourage any pet owner to use Hickory Small Animal Hospital! Whether your situation is urgent or routine, you will be treated with kindness, respect and will receive genuine care for both you and your pet.
