Just moved in town and dog fell ill. Went to one vet; wanted a second opinion. I called and told receptionist I only wanted lab done (they do in-house lab.) She told me to come _now_ and I packed up kiddos and sick dog and was on my way. I then received a phone call 20 mins later by receptionist. She told me the vet said there was no need in my coming as she was doing a surgery and had two appointments after and she "Couldn't help my dog today anyway," to just come the next morning. It was 3:30, not closing time, and I had been told to come in already (plus doesn't a tech do labs anyway?) I am taking my dog and money elsewhere as this vet has enough clientele to turn away animals and I really didn't feel like she cared enough to even try to help. Bad, bad, bad.

I went in yesterday December 4, 2017 due to my English Bulldog was limping. They took VERY AWESOME CARE OF HIM, they did X-Rays and found out that he had broken his toe! So they put a cast on him ( trust me he’s not happy by any means) but my Torque aka TRIPOD lol will be back to himself in about 6 weeks or so!!! Best Friends Animal Hospital DID AMAZING JOB!!!

Best Friends Animal Hospital is the BEST! Dr. Zimmerman and her staff are the most caring and wonderful people. My little guy Nelson was so nervous on his first visit that Dr. Zimmerman suggested we not push him to do anything he didn't feel comfortable with. I was so impressed and happy to hear that she had my dog's mental well-being as her first priority! We rescheduled to a week later and Nelson did great! He was a bit nervous at first but with compassionate care, cookies, and cheese, he was wagging his tail in no time! A huge success! We also bring our English Bulldog Zoe to Dr. Zimmerman and have had great experiences with her and her staff as well! Best Friend's actually carries Zoe's allergy medicine so we don't have to travel to Concord anymore! A fantastic help! I can't say enough great things about this place :)

I just brought my cat, Mimas, to see Dr. Zimmerman at Best Friends Animal Hospital. The staff from start to finish are amazing. They were all compassionate, caring and very good with both my cat and I. I had read a number of reviews online about this location, and I am glad to say they are all right: This is the best location to bring your pets. Tests were performed on site within a few minutes (Mimas needed a urine test) and further procedures recommended (neuter). Options were given for his care, and I believe all were necessary with no up-sell. A good, truly ethical and exceptional vet. Cost effective, answer all questions completely and provide some great information. I left knowing more, and with no qualms about leaving my cat in their care. If you have an animal, this is where I would highly recommend to get their care.

Great systems like a phone in for prescription refills make them reliable for those who don't work normal hours, and a responsive emergency line ensures help is never far away. Best Friends is the best vet in town and quite possibly the best vet I've ever been to. We have 5 fur babies and one of those babies requires many visits each year and I trust Best Friends to always take care of him. In emergencies they have gotten me appointments for the same day- or after hour emergencies they have brought us in or Dr. Hackworth has called throughout the night to let us know what we need to be doing. Every time we go in with a different fur baby the staff always asks how the other one is doing. They really care there. They also give tips on how to care for pets, and the hospital is always clean. They also groom and keep animals when your on vacation, the choice is optional obviously. Anyways, the hospital is one of the best in Houma to bring pets.

Every single time I go there they add like 5 things to the bill. It's the most frustrating place to go. "Oh your dog pooped in the lobby 45$ to test it. Oh she has a little discharge that isnt bothering her. 45$ for an ear drop. Dude I just wanted a shot that's it. I know about heart worms and you dont need a vaccine every single month. Such a croc. I've had dogs for years and never once had a vet tell me that.

I have been using Best Friends since getting my rescue and have found them to be caring and understanding. We recently needed to put down our family dog and the entire office was empathetic. They do not push unnecessary things on you such as other veterinarians in Manchester and put your animal's best interest in mind. When my pup lost part of a tooth - the staff quickly called me back and got me scheduled to come in. They provided high and low estimates and get her in quickly.

I wish I could give less than 1 star. These people had our dog for 2 weeks. They lied and told us they were going to a blood test and never did. They did a surgery and found nothing. Yet a week later my wife asks for a second xray and then they find an obstruction but because they did a surgery on a very dehydrated dog she couldn't recuperate properly. I dont suggest anyone ever bring their pet to this vet clinic. Over $800 later and all I have to show for it is a dead dog. Thanks for nothing.

Caring, considerate, and kind staff. Dr. Hackworth is knowledgeable and a outstanding human being. The entire staff treats my three dogs (schnauzer, boxer, and lab/pit mix) as if they were their own. Sometimes the waiting room is crowded and appointments run behind schedule but that's usually because the doctors and nurses have made time to see emergency patients. Although this is inconvenient for those with appointments, it is a literal life saver those who need emergency veterinary care. I've used two other local veterinary clinics. One vet spends more time spouting off his personal politic and religious belief than he does actually examining his patients. I never had an appointment at the scheduled time. His staff is awesome but there's only so many times I can tolerate being called "little lady" and being talked down to. Another local vet clinic misdiagnosed an injured stray puppy. They claimed she was just sore and would be fine. Within twelve hours she lost all bladder and bowel control, then could not walk, then could not eat. They did not recognize a puncture wound with meningitis! In short, my dogs will never visit any veterinary clinic other than Best Friends Animal Hospital.

Best Friends A.H. have the most compassionate staff ever!!!! They have been through it all with my fur family, from the birth of a litter of puppies to saving a stray I took in from Parvo (which lived for over 12 yrs), to the sudden fatal illness of a cat. I have been bringing my fur babies here for years and could not think of going anywhere else. Even though one of my babies is not friendly to strangers at all and is not exactly the easiest animal to care for, Dr. Hackworth and his staff treat her with delicate, loving and professional hands. We stumbled upon this place quite by accident. My dog and I were attacked by a feral cat and we thought we were bringing our dog to an emergency clinic. Turns out the emergency clinic moved to a larger facility and a new animal hospital had taken over the space. Instead of turning us away Dr. Zimmerman and her staff treated us with kindness and concern, cleaned up our dog's wounds, and gave him antibiotics as prevention against infection. We have been clients ever since.

I had to rush my French Bulldog in early yesterday morning when he woke me up at 4 A.M. having what I thought to be seizures. I called the on call vet really early, and he was so helpful and rushed right in to take care of my dog. The nurses and vet techs were so sweet when I showed up extremely upset about my sick dog before their work hours on a Monday morning. This place cares for my pets better than any other vet has. They even called multiple times to check on my dog and wrote me a new prescription for him over the phone so that he could get some sleep. Thank you for being wonderful.

Had my dog here at the kennel last year and he has never been the same since. The place looks clean, modern, very fancy, professional staff...but it is a facade. First off, they pushed this canine influenza vaccine as a mandatory basis for boarding my dog there. Ok, fine. I'll pay for the shot. We leave him there for a week in July. Come back and the dog is a MESS. Now I share some responsibility here because I didnt think to ask what he would be fed or leave food for him to eat, but he had a NASTY case of diarrhea for about two weeks after we picked him up. Just horrible. Secondly, I assumed this was an indoor kennel? Climate controlled? He must have been left outside. The dog is absolutely TERRIFIED of even the smallest storm ever since. Just shameful. Plus they wanted to push the second part of the influenza shot on the back end for yet another charge. No thanks, never again.

Rude people! That was the first experience. Told ourself that we would never return as the FLW post vet had better care and attitudes. Our dog was run over today and this crappy establishment was the only one with a vet on Saturday. Made us wait for a room even after we called it in on the way as an emergency. The vet said she was stable so we had to wait. After about 30 min they took our dog back to do X-rays. My wife mentioned that we want to make sure no internal bleeding or broken bones. The vet came out and assured us that she was fine but would be sore. We were relieved, the bill was about 250ish but would have paid whatever. I carried her to the car drove her home and within 2 hours she died. We have tried to get answers from the establishment but apparently my number and my wife's have been blocked. If I could give them a zero I would. For regular checkups you might be ok, but I wouldn't trust a real injured animal in this "business". I would take the risk of watching a video on line and trying surgery before I let them see one of my animals again.

I have been a client at Best Friends Animal Hospital for years and have always appreciated the friendly receptionists at the front desk. Dr. Hackworth and his team are always very informative about anything you ask and if they don’t know the answer they will find it for you. I recently brought my fur kid in for his regular checkup and while there they found he has mast cell tumors. They got him in right away to have them removed and took care of my boy. They even called to check up on him that night. He ended up tearing his staples and I was able to get ahold of the messaging system, Dr. Hackworth got right back with me to let me know I needed to bring him in the next day to early morning so he could fix him back up. I appreciate the care and compassion all the doctors and technician have and I couldn’t and would not trust the care or health of my pet with any other hospital.

I was able to get into Best Friends almost a week earlier than my appointment on a cancellation, which in itself was great because my appointment was on my birthday and I was afraid that I may have had to put my hamster, Cheerio, to sleep that day. When Steph saw me heading to the door with a cage in my hands, she ran to the door to open it for me, which is a simple but thoughtful gesture. Dr. Zimmerman was very kind and it's obvious that she loves animals. She answered every question I had and reassured me. I didn't end up having to let go of my Cheerio that day either, which was the best news.

We had returned to NH after living in the Midwest, where we adopted our standard poodle. We weren't happy with the laissez faire attitude of our first Manchester Vet, and ended up driving all the way down to Massachusetts to the popular Vet recommended by a friend. Yikes! The fees, no matter how mundane the visit, were astronomical! I found Dr. Zimmerman online and she, her colleagues, and entire staff are peerless. The dog has grown older and developed various problems such as food allergies, incontinence, and then TWO harrowing incidents of pancreatitis. At each turn, Best Friends has provided a caring touch and superb advice. Dr. Z was willing to try a different treatment for the incontinence which has worked completely, and her colleague, I believe her name is Dr. Kumar, provided the recipe for the ideal low-fat, grain-free home cooking that we now feed the dog to keep her pancreas from becoming inflamed. We credit these super-duper approaches for the fact that in spite of advanced age, the puppy inside of our old girl is still there! She hops around happily and eats like a horse. If you need to be seen quickly, they'll find a way to get you in, and the fees are completely realistic. Make Best Friends your go-to practice. They're all wonderful!

I have taken my dogs to Best Friends a few times now. Dr Hackworth is awesome, although I cannot say the same about the rest of the staff. Today was much worse than our former visits, I have never seen my dog show teeth at the vet. At our previous visit the tech poked her near 20 times trying to draw blood for a heartworm test, she was calm the entire time and not phased by it (another tech ended up drawing her blood on the first try). Today she was not made comfortable in the least bit and the vet gave no introduction. All in all, it can be a good experience if you see the right people.

I have had horrible experiences with local vet offices and I called this office and spoke with a girl by the name of Brendalynn about my new puppy being ill and I was able to get him in same day by her communication with Dr Hackworth. She wasn’t ugly to us and was compassionate about the health of my pet. Upon arrival I believe Valerie or Vanessa was her name was very welcoming and made sure to get us check in quickly. My puppy did have to stay the night at the hospital and is now doing better now. I also was phoned after his stay to ensure he was well by lady named Suzanne. I will say that there were a few members of the staff that were not as welcoming when I went to pick up my pup but the ones who I have mentioned made up for those who were not so pleasant. I've been using Best Friends Animal Hospital for more than 9 years now and I've never had any issues. Staff is always friendly and helpful even when I walked in with an emergency right before closing.

The service was outstanding they took care of my 3 dogs and treated them like they would there own folks my dogs or like my children to me I finaly found a 5 star vet dont take my word for it give them a try i have been to other vets best friends took the extra time and checked my babies over good and explained everything to us in detail of what was wrong and the treatment to fix them and the cost was very reasonable. Only place we will ever go. Moved away from town and tried a new place, but now we drive 45 minutes just to see Dr. Z and staff. They are great, don't push expensive procedures unless absolutely necessary, and are incredibly helpful.

If there is an after hours emergency, you better hope your dog is already on file, or they'll refuse to do anything other than direct you to Springfield. I would have paid anything to get my puppy right in somewhere local when he was sick. Thankfully, he's alright. The lack of compassion for animals, based on whether or not you're a patient, is astounding. I would feel dirty being a client and knowing my dog could get care, but someone else's couldn't in an emergency...all because they're not on file. I'm disappointed, but hopeful that Best Friends will review this policy in the near future. ***EDIT 7/17/17***: I recognize that Best Friends Animal Hospital is NOT a 24/7 emergency clinic. I also recognize that no other practices offer after hours care. I am well-aware of all the facts the business points out in their first paragraph. I absolutely agree that the vets of Pulaski County should band together and form an emergency clinic. I think it’s wonderful that the vets chose to stay on a Saturday to help an animal in need. I’m bewildered by the claim that I called the clients that go to Best Friends “dirty.” I said, verbatim, *I* would feel dirty knowing my pet could get care and another couldn’t because they weren’t a client. I respectfully disagree with you that my review is not warranted. I have family that HAS done business with Best Friends – but could no longer afford to take their animals there and had to go somewhere else. I equally tried to take my puppy to Best Friends for his neuter…but couldn’t afford it. If I could have used Best Friends, I have no doubt my rating would have been a five; however, given the circumstances and the nature of the response from the business, I’m concerned if I would even be welcome at this vet clinic. I have nothing personally against this clinic – I know many people who take their animals there. I am simply providing feedback based on my experience with this business.

Dr. Hackworth is well liked and respected by people in the community who take their pets to his hospital. Whenever I have had the opportunity to speak directly with him, I have found Dr. Hackworth to be polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I cannot say the same for some of his office staff. In my experience, and all fairness, however, this is not uncommon in the veterinary field. What I find most lacking with this service is effective communication, including information, for example, at the time of check-in, and organization, particularly in the front office, such as in scheduling post-op visits, which I believe, especially in the case of a poor prognosis, should be done, whenever possible, with the veterinarian who did the surgery. My perspective is one of an experienced medical professional, so fortunately or unfortunately I know what to look for, and how things should be done, at least how they are supposed to be done with human patients and family members. I know that Dr. Hackworth is making an attempt to implement stress-free handling in his practice, and that I very much appreciate as a force-free professional dog trainer and acquaintance of the late Dr. Sophia Yin. I recognize that keeping staff, and keeping them trained in an area with a transient population due to the nearby Army post can be challenging, but I hope this practice never loses sight of how important each and every animal that comes through their doors is to the people who own and love them.

This is the first vet office where our senior lab wolfhound mix actually likes the veterinary doctors and staff. He even begs them for treats. He has never liked the veterinary staff anywhere we have taken him in the past. Kudos to Best Friends.

The staff here cannot be beat. They are so friendly, compassionate, and accommodating. My first visit was scheduled last minute and they were able to fit me in right away and were flexible when I explained my kitty did not like going in the carrier so I may have been a few mins late. Everyone from check-in, to the vet tech, to Dr. Zimmerman were all so gentle and kind towards my Fonz and were transparent and detailed up front about costs and what they were doing, so there were no surprises. It is a very calm environment which puts me at ease because, like every pet owner, it’s always a little stressful when you have to bring them to the vet! We got blood work results back very quickly and I was able to get the meds needed right in their facility. Our second visit, as soon as we walked in, my Fonz was greeted by name and with a smile – it really makes such a huge difference when you can tell the staff truly cares. Fonz is 1 of 3 kitties we have and I’m so happy I found a place that I know I’d be confident in bringing my other babies to!

Dr. Zimmerman & her staff are the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! For 9 years, they provided my dog the highest level of care, genuine concern & love. Dr. Zimmerman truly listens to her clients, therefore, she was the only vet that was able to diagnose Daisy with a very minor condition that was causing her to feel sick and not eat. Also, my dog had to have both her eyes removed after going blind due to glaucoma. Even after both surgeries, Dr. Kristi and Steph were two of her very favorite people! I think Daisy Mae thought that going to the vet was visiting her friends, rather than going to her doggy doctors. When the sad day came that I had to say goodbye to my beloved Daisy, they were extremely compassionate, caring and respectful of my loss; they understand that your pets are members of your family. Although my heart is not ready for another dog, I can honestly say that I miss seeing these wonderful people and would never take a fur baby anywhere else!!! You and your Best Friends will feel right at home there!!!

Best Friends Animal Hospital is the best Vet I have ever taken my pup to. My dog is part of my family and this is the first time I have ever left her overnight (for a teeth cleaning). Her teeth came out great! The price was a lot lower than I expected! The staff was so great and they called to check up on how things were going after we went home. I am glad I found this Vet for sure!

The staff here is phenomenal. They took such good care of my kitty when he was sick. Two weeks in their ICU... long story short, they saved his life. They were so flexible with me coming in twice a day to spend time with him. I couldn't be more thankful. They are the best. I couldn't recommend them more highly. Best vet I've ever come across.

I have never actually used Best Friends, However I have an amazing vet in Epson Suncook. I am looking to switch vets due to the distance issue since I live in Manchester. Well I called best friends with some questions about services , prices and other related things. The girl on the phone sounded like she wanted nothing to do with speaking with me. This is horrible for someone who is looking for a new vet. I can call my current and they are happy to answer my questions. Not to mention I called Lockridge and spent 25 minutes on the phone with them after speaking with Best Friends and they were happy to help with all my questions. I am sorry but in my case the good reviews don't effect the horrible call I had with this place. I will never use them.

Best Friends Animal Hospital has been the best choice I have made in the care of my pets. Dr. Zimmerman has been wonderful to all three of my animals - two dogs (a Shiba Inu and Pit) and a little kitty. She always comes in with a smile and is so compassionate. The staff here is excellent as well, to include Steph, who I have seen most often. I've been to other larger vet practices in the past and the care just didn't even come close to what we have received here. I would recommend Best Friends over and over again!
