Wonderful staff make pets and parents feel welcome
Good animal care. Caring staff. Helpful...even when animals are strays.
Great facility and staff..
Inexpensive and complete care for your pet. That is what makes Elk Creek the best place for all your needs. It's not just the doctors, it's the staff. Simply amazing.
I have taken my babies here for at least 15 years. Have referred several friends and they have referred their friends and some travel far to get here. They are very loving and caring and everyone is so nice. And prices are pretty reasonable.
Love this place..they really care about your pet and you..
The staff here have always been top-notch. They saw us through the heartbreak of oral cancer in my cat, easing his pain right up to the end. Dedicated and knowledgeable!
The staff is very friendly & handle the animals well.
The best vet around
Joanie IS GREAT WITH OUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBERS!
They made putting down an animal as painless as possible. Always made available to answer questions. Couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you all.
We have five dogs and three cats and I cannot imagine taking them anywhere else. Dr. Shelley (the founder) is still very involved and runs a first rate office. Over time they have expended and hired more vets. Excellent vet and very reasonable prices.
Everyone treats your pet like it is their own. A wonderful environment!
My dog recently got her TTA surgery at Elk Creek Animal Hospital by Dr. Shelley (about 1 week ago). From the initial exam through the post-surgery pickup I have nothing but positive things to say about this facility and their staff. Anytime I call with post-surgery questions, the receptionists are eager to help, and Dr. Shelley even returned one of my calls personally to answer a question the receptionist wasn't sure on. Not only do they keep your dog for a couple of days after the surgery to insure the beginning healing process, it is also one of the most reasonably priced for this surgery in the area with no fluff or hidden costs! Although it is a bit of a drive from my home in Southern IN, it has been so worth it, and I could not be happier to have had been recommended to Dr. Shelley to care for my boxer.
Super staff, very thorough vets, really take the time necessary, thoughtful and caring. Extreamly reasonable price.
Expensive!!!!!
We have always had good care at Elk Creek. We have lots of animals and it's who we trust to care for them!
Awesome Vets and Staff. Always friendly and compassionate.
Very happy with them ,you don't even have to have an appointment.
Great doctors and staff!
They have a great staff and love the atmosphere and experience.
Dr. Bessmer was able to see my furbaby right away when my usual vet couldn't. He was so caring and very informative to me that I switched all my furbabies to Elk Creek. They are very kind and a friendly environment! Love this place!
The staff is incredibly helpful and informative. I completely trust them with my pets' health. When my cat had to be put down, they went above and beyond to make the experience as non-traumatizing as possible. We have been a client for 10+ years and I'm very thankful that we chose them.
Like this place a lot cheap and nice people
Great place. Affordable and friendly
Great place to take your pets. These people really love what they do. They love animals and what it best for them.
An amazing staff!!!!
Great set of vets, nurses and staff. Reasonable pricing for the care of my pets Love all pets like their own.
5 star is not a high enough rating for this place. Excellence!!!!
Very reasonable and helpful with giving the best care for your pet.
Over priced!!!
Best vet's in the world! Dr. Chambers is caring.. compassionate... understanding....
Great animal friendly people. The best around
I love Elk Creek! Reasonable prices and they take excellent care of your pets
This is the best vet I have ever used. They do not pressure you into unnecessary shots or meds just to raise your bill. And they don't question you or make you feel bad for not buying flea and heartworm prevention from them. It is a large practice so you can always get an appointment on short notice or at the time best for you.
Dr Bennett is an awesome vet!
The lady that I talked to there was so helpful it is a wonderful place I was getting the topical wormer treatment for my cats and they were very helpful and it was so quick I could not believe it other places I went to gave me a problem they didn't
Caring staff, reasonable pricing. They are compassionate and don't push for unnecessary procedures. Our dogs are patients there and are always comfortable.
Great crew to work with and they really care about your pet.
They are the best veterinary service I have found in Louisville, actually 15 minutes outside Louisville between Taylorsville. :) For many years. And very kind to my animals.
I am so disheartened by what has happened to this place. I used to sing their praises to everyone I met that had pets. I sent everyone I knew here and I have always taken all of my animals to them. (and I have had a lot of animals in my lifetime) I started going to them when they first started and watched their practice grow. They were always so caring and compassionate and their genuine love for animals and helping them radiated throughout the office. Since they sold out their prices have beyond skyrocketed and their quality of care has plummeted. They used to truly care about the animals and I would have said they were the best vet in the state. Now it seems their care has turned towards just the money. I was so excited when they opened the Mount Washington location but after visiting them, it was a major disappointment. The only thing that is the same is the super friendliness of the staff at the front desk. They now take your babies to the back to do everything away from the owners and bring them back to you wet. They used to treat your animals as they were their own. Now even the doctor is almost robotic, lacking in the compassion they used to have. It's almost as they have a detailed protocol to follow for every animal regardless of the situation and they don't veer from it...and then you need to take out a loan to leave. They used to think outside of the box when treating your babies and do everything to help them. Now they check off their list and send you home whether they helped or not. So sad to see this happen. I will now be taking my babies elsewhere, and I seem to be talking to a lot of other people that are also disheartened and doing the same. I am embarrassed that I sent so many people to them.
Always a great experience. Wonderful veterinarian service and reasonable prices.
Great place take all my pets here
The Drs and staff are the BEST!! No matter your reason for coming in they always make you and your pet feel comfortable.
Great people good with all size animals
Dr. Chambers wouldn't give me the time of day to hear me out about my concerns for my cat. Told me he's not concerned, she's fine. Spent maybe a total of 5 minutes in the room with us. I knew something was wrong so I pursued it with Dahlem Animal Hospital and they found out she was dehydrated and has a severe bladder infection. I will never go to Elk Creek Animal Hospital again.
The best Vets!!
Kind friendly staff. Great prices. Great Doctors.
Sammy even liked the place & staff ,what's that tell you ? We don't want any other place!
Dr. Pop was fabulous. We didn't feel rushed and he very helpful. The staff cleans the rooms after each pet, is very clean. Reasonably priced and wait was not very long for a walk in appt.
Going there for years. Top notch.
We always receive wonderful care at Elk Creek, and with 2 cats and a dog we are there often. Whether it's for routine or emergency care, the staff and Dr. Bessmer give us top quality service and genuinely show they care about our pets. On our most recent visit, it was our new dog's first trip to vet. He was a happy dog throughout the visit and didn't even seem to mind all the shots he got. I trust Dr. Bessmer completely with the well-being of our fur family.
They took very good care of a stray dog we took in and decided to keep. He was neutered, given his shots, microchipped, nails trimmed, heart worm tests, given antibiotics, for around $300. He was treated very well and the price was very reasonable. We've only been there once to pick up and once to drop off, but they appear to stay very busy. The front office people were very nice and accomodating, the doctor was very caring and answered all of our many questions, and the vet tech we had was awesome as well. It's about a 25 minute drive, but well worth it, in our opinion. We would highly recommend!
A great Vet Clinic. All the personnel here loves animals. You can tell it is their passion not just a job. They have always taken care of our pets and have a done a great job.
Very nice people .Very clean
Terrific people at Elk Creek. I wish to point out Hannah as particularly compassionate and professional during a very difficult time with our elderly and sick dog Evie. My thanks to her and all the folks at Elk Creek.
The vets at Elk Creek were very nice as were the techs. My daughter couldn’t handle watching her puppy get a shot :)
this is Heinz this was taken in 2014 and is now 3 years old and they have been taken care of him and his little counter part Rooney ever since we got them. EXCELLENT care and will continue taking our dogs to them. VERY PLEASED!!
They do great job taking care of my dog and cat. My wife really likes Dr Chambers
Always a pleasure to take my animals there. Staff is very polite and helpful
Very caring and reasonably priced!
Love how well they take care of my pet
Amazing people!!!!
Very nice.
Doggone good place
I have taken my dog for 12 years
I have went 13 years with an outrageous bill due to other clinics. This is NOT that place!!! I feel like this place actually cares about Your pet. So awesome, everyone is! They actually listen. I have a 13 year old pitbull with allergies that I know inside and out. I know about that dog more than anyone. They actually care. Seriously you will never love a place more!
These doctors are some of the best.
great group. I can highly recommend them.
The worst experience I have ever had at a veterinary clinic!! I brought in my german shepherd dog Igor De Casa Davalos for OFA /SV hip and elbow x-rays. I was told they had done thousands of OFA x-rays by Dr. Shelley. The positioning of my dog was horrible and I requested new x-rays of his hips. I was told that was as good as he was going to get. If you can’t properly position a dog for an x-ray you shouldn’t do them for OFA. I had to spend another 250.00 at Pewee Valley Veterinary Clinic to get him positioned properly. The x-rays done there were perfect. I was also told by Dr. Shelley and Dr. Bennett that he had an issue with his right hip. Dr. Shelley said breeders always complain about positioning, they either have good hips or bad hips. That is incorrect. Improper positioning can make a good hip look bad. I didn’t see anything wrong with his right hip. He had been prelimed at 15 months and they were excellent. I sent in his hip x-rays to OFA taken at Pewee Valley and he was OFA Good. I was also told I paid to much for my dog. This said dog is the grandson of 2x VA Remo Vom Fichtenschlag. I wouldn’t let them treat my daughters teddy bear.
Great staff
I live in Louisville ky and drove to this vets office for my precious furbaby after several visits to vets in Louisville with no relief for her and with in minutes of her visit her they knew exactly what was wrong and treated her like their own she was taken into surgery immediately and though the odds was against her Dr.Chambers this wonderful staff and a few prayers my baby is fully recovered and back to her happy self
We love Elk Creek Animal Hospital!
I've moved twice and still make the 90 minute trip to Elk Creek for my pets. Been going there 10 years. LOVE Dr Bennett and Dr Shelley! Very caring and quick service. Extremely reasonable prices.
Love the staff and vets!
They are great we've used them for years I would recommend them to anyone.
Excellent service
Fast service, very friendly. Don't see the vet unless you ask but mostly just need shots anyway
Great fast service with our animals
The only problem I saw was they need more doctors on staff. I was told they have a couple on the way. Other than that, can’t imagine taking our dogs to any other vet. Kind, friendly, sincere, professional, caring, and they fixed our boy at a beer price with champagne care. Thank you everyone especially Amanda, Dr Cantrell Dr Conder and all the staff.
Been going to them for 10 years plus. Had a bad experience last year and wrote a review dinging them. Went to their new office yesterday and they redeemed their selves so I felt I had to write a review. Classic Elk Creek service at the new location. Wonderful vet who gave us choices and options for our older Beagle. Exactly what we expect and definitely thought we got great value for our money. Thank you.
My dog had an ear infection and as a walk-in, she was seen very quickly by friendly and efficient staff who I could tell love animals. The price was reasonable too.
Really like this place.
Bring my pets and foster pets here, everyone is nice and caring.
Awesome vet office with care credit
Was referred to Elk Creek by several friends, and am pleased we went. While we unfortunately had to make the decision to euthanize our dog, the staff (especially Dr. Brad) were extremely professional and empathetic, and treated our boy like he was their own. Can't recommend them highly enough.
They always do their best in caring for our pets.
Great vets and staff!
This was my first experience at Elk Creek Animal Hospital. I love the calm and peaceful atmosphere, very friendly service and diligent record keeping. All my pets have a great place now for regular health care.
The have the best prices of any bet I've ever used and the staff all seemed to understand and love every animal.
They took such good care of my cat, I so appreciate their wonderful care!
Super nice
Love the people and great service
The Staff is very friendly and caring.
Great place for our pets to go to!
My dog had been suffering n I was not getting answers from the place I was going. The dogs groomer suggested I try Dr Bessmer. She had heard many good things about the clinic so I made an appt. He looked at her n he immediately knew what was wrong n gave her medicine. She was better by that night. Great Dr and gr8 staff. Give them a try. I'm sure u'll b pleased.
The only place that I will trust with the care of my critters.
Did not live up to these 5 star reviews. Did not receive great care. Won't be going back.
After moving to the area about a year ago, I switched to Elk Creek because I received good feedback from a friend. I had good experiences for all of the normal well visits but when my lab tore her ACL, it became apparent that Elk Creek was not the best place to be. Within two weeks of my dog's ACL surgery, she passed away as a result of kidney failure. Let me be clear, I realize their are a number of factors that could have contributed to her death, however, I feel that Elk Creek has some responsibility because of their response when I reached out to them with questions or to express my concern about my dog's health. After the surgery, she didn't regain her appetite and wasn't drinking. She was also shaking. I called Elk Creek and spoke with Dr. Condra on three occasions. He did provide me with Tramadol because he felt that it could be associated with pain from the surgery. After not receiving the answers that I needed over the phone, my husband brought our pet in (about 9 days after surgery and still not interested in food and little water). We did not see Dr. Condra that day and I do not recall the vet's name, however, he did a brief examination, gave her fluids and sent us home. Within three days, our dog began vomiting so I rushed her back to Elk Creek. Dr. Condra finally ran a blood test and discovered that she was in kidney failure. This happened to be on a Saturday morning. Dr. Condra suggested that we keep her there so that they could give her fluids over the weekend to try to flush out her kidneys. At the time, I agreed, but then realized that they only check in on the pets twice daily during the weekend. (Knowing how bad she was, he should have suggested that I take her to 24 hour care. Also, it wasn't until I moved her to Metro that I realized how bad it was.) Luckily, I called Metro Animal Hospital and they provided me with a brief consultation and as a result, I made the decision to go back to Elk Creek, get my pet and rush her to Metro Animal Hospital. I believe that if I would have let her stay there over the weekend, she would have died the next day. The vets at Metro Animal Hospital were wonderful and I was comforted knowing that they tried their best to save her and that she wasn't alone when she passed. The main point in this story is that I truly believe that Elk Creek had several opportunities to help my dog but instead they chose to pass off her symptoms as a "normal reaction to surgery". In addition, the vets were robotic and not compassionate. Also, looking back and comparing them to the vets at Metro Animal, I also don't think they are the most qualified to treat animals who are "high risk". I regret my decision to continue to take her back to Elk Creek. I clearly should have taken her somewhere else after the first 5 days but I had never experienced this type of thing with a pet so it was a lesson. I will never go back.
They are super fast nice people just wish they a hospital for evening and night time
Best vet in Kentucky. Hands down.
Nice place high prices
Incredible people here. They try very hard and care as much as you do about your fur baby!
My puppy loves this place!!
Love these people
Neat,clean,friendly
Dr. Shelley and everyone else on staff that I came into contact with were wonderful. Went for a new puppy checkup and couldn't be happier with the services provided!
Best care ❤ anywhere.
Great first visit - Excellant Staff - Well kept facilities
This used to be the best veterinarian in the area. I’ve been going here for many years and drive far because they used to be better than anyone local to me. They were personable and really good with your animals. Since they expanded and switched vets, it is all about volume of animals and making money. It’s sad because my pets are family and I really thought they were getting the best.
Excellent Vets...wonderful staff
I've lived in this area for 10 years now and we went to one other vet before we found Elk Creek and have never looked anywhere else since the staff is friendly knowledgeable and they treat you and your animals like they were their own. Unfortunately we've had a few instances of having to lose our pets and they have been there to check on us after the fact and to make sure that everything was okay. They are very reasonably priced I don't know about prices of other Veterinary but as far as I'm concerned they're very reasonable. Only reason they don't get 5 stars as the fact that they are not a 24-hour Hospital.
Very friendly and reasonably priced
Great staff
Nice staff.
This place i went to along time ago and thry treated me and my beloved k9 beyond expectations I loved them and there easter bag of goods
They were GREAT!...I was visiting my parents in Sioux City and Raider (my dog) ran out of prescription food....they helped me get a hold of my Vet located in Alaska and coordinate getting Raider what her needed there in Sioux City. Nice staff....great people!
They go above and beyond! The staff are always so nice. They are wonderful! We take both our dogs there for their annual checkups and shots. I was able to bring one of our dogs right in when she was having bad digestive issues and they stayed late to make sure she was taken care of.
Love this place employees are great and are very kind to all animals there
Very friendly and caring staff!
Very reasonable pricing love the staff very nice to my animals wouldn't go anywhere else
Everyone is awesome and very help and answered all my questions
They take care of my cat great.
Great people
Since inception, I've had two pets at ECAH that were critical. This review is long overdue with the first case dating back to 2007. The high regard they have for pets individualized to how we feel best to proceed, as a team, is unbridled. I know without a doubt in my mind that our vet, Dr. Shelley, treats with his whole heart & mind in all circumstances. The entire staff goes that extra mile to ease your fears & guide your understanding. Top notch.
I would highly recommend. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Always great with me pets
I’ve only been a few times but everyone is super nice. I believe I got great treatment for my Dog
I took my dog here to get ACL repair surgery. There was a little bit of miscommunication with the staff on what was needed at my first appointment, but they were very apologetic about it. I was told I would only have to left my dog there for 2 nights after surgery, but she ended up staying 4 nights. But I was glad that they were being cautious in monitoring her and didn't send her home before she was ready. I called every day to get updates on her and they didn't mind and actually encouraged that I do so. The vet who did the surgery got on the phone himself to talk to me. When I picked her up, there was more minor confusion about when to bring her back for staple removal and check-ups. One of her ACL's also re-tore a month or so after the first surgery. I talked to a co-worker who also had her dog's ACL repaired there and she said she was given the option of the metal plates instead of the suture ties. I asked them about this and they said they did not offer metal plates. But they did re-do her sutures and she has been fine since. I can tell the staff all know and love her and they all get down on the floor to pet her and get kisses from her, which is good to see. You can definitely tell they really care about the animals!
Very nice people and clean place. Always crowded. To me that shows that this is a good place to take your pet for care.
I’ve always have great experiences there an they get you in an out.
They have been taking good care of our dogs for years. I would highly recommend them. They are going to have a second location soon.
I brought in a rescue basset hound that was pulled from a Lexington shelter. Very nice staff here. They took great care of Olivia. Nice clean facility. Only suggestion would be that they have a calmer radio station on, especially if animals are already stressed out or getting ready to cross the rainbow bridge.
