We adopted a dog that the previous owner was unable to care for appropriately. Because of some problems getting his shot records, we opted to go to Dixie Animal Hospital where the previous owner had taken him. It is a little bit of a drive for us, but as it turned out, it was worth the drive. Our dog is a little skittish and afraid of other dogs even though he is larger than most even as a puppy, so they let us take him right from the parking lot to a waiting room - an option a lot of other places don't have/offer. Because he barked at the vet assistant who came to take him to the Doc for shots, they had us put a muzzle on him (not a problem). By the time he received his shots and cam back to us the muzzle was gone. He made the vet his friend and all was right with the world even though he needed several shots. Because he went to the same vet where he had been treated before, they could use his history to guide the shots he was given, otherwise we would have had to start at zero. We have his updated shot records and he is ready to go. Parking is more than adequate, but there isn't a lot of grass to let your dog (or other pet) relieve him/herself before walking in the door. Ours spend his time sniffing, but thankfully had no accidents. Its a big place and they have a pet shop with pet supplies (not pets for sale as far as I am aware) in the building adjacent to the waiting room. And we were also able to get his monthly meds (heartworm, flea/tick) when we checked out. Everyone was great, prices were good, and our pet was not traumatized by the experience. It is a little out of the way for us which is why they only earned 4 stars. They really were great!

Sometimes you gotta wait for attention but that is because everyone else is there too, and everyone else loves their pet, and the doctors and staff are giving everybody who comes in the door their best. I trust them with my pets' lives. They are decent, and you can tell in every staff member's littlest action that they deeply love animals. That's the place for me.

Not happy. They tried to examine our cat without us present. The dr admitted she was a dog person. Eventually they let us stay in the room. The cost was high for very little not accomplished. We will not go back. The whole experience was like an assembly line rather than a caring clinic environment

Our long hair cat, Nova, retreats under the bed a lot. Crouching to get under the bed created a lot of matting on her back that I couldn’t remove. Dixie Animal Hospital was recommended by my vet’s office and they were awesome. Perfectly bathed and groomed. I’ll definitely go back! The price was extremely reasonable as well.

Been coming here for a few years. They have always seem to be very caring with the animals and reasonably priced. My only complaint used to be the wait as they did not do appointments but first come first serve. As of last year, they now only do appointments with the exception of emergency visits. Unless something changes, this will be the only vet I use in Louisville.

Our appointment was at 2:30. We sat there until 3:15 because they said that it was supposed to be a 3 appointment. But we could see on the books that at the very least they had written us in for 2:40. It was a very long way with a very frightened cat. He did get his exam and shots and recommendations for expensive testing. Still, I use this facility all the time and recommended.

I've been to a lot of vets over the years. Shively, cornerstone, stonefield, all pets vet. Most are just about the money. I found out about this vet from my husband and mother-in-law. We took my husband's dog December 2017 and had Dr. McIntyre. He's amazing. Just the best. He cares more about the pet than the money. My husband's dog looks like a totally different dog. We did everything he said to do and he didn't even recognize her. Be works on Wednesdays. I've made an appointment for my 6 year old husky and my 13 year old cat to see him. You will not be disappointed!

I wanted to give 5 stars, so badly. Everyone is nice, lovely, generous with dog treats... However, two times in a year, I had to return after an initial visit, and pay the recheck fee. It's frustrating to go in, say I'm here for ____, they come back and say "Ope, we don't see anything!?" I go home. Problem gets worse. Schedule another appointment and pay recheck fee... probably going to look for another vet. To be fair, it was two doctors in particular, not representative of the whole veterinary staff. But come on... I say 'something is wrong with her paw'. Look. At. Her. Paw. Would you just look at it? I do recommend Dixie Animal Hospital. Be sure all of your needs and concerns are addressed in ONE visit. Be persistent. Save yourself time and MONEY. And save your animal discomfort.

I love this vet!! So very helpful and you couldn't ask for better prices!! They are so reasonable!! And they truly care for each and every pet that comes through their doors. I even know of one case where one of these wonderful docs (Dr. Bobb) helped a man with mental illness, who couldn't travel, by doing house calls for him!! The vet techs are the best in the business!! So sweet, kind and informative!! They are able to accommodate dogs who are anti-social by bringing them in a back door. I'm telling you, this place and THESE PEOPLE ARE FABULOUS!!!

Not happy with having to have an appointment! This is nearly impossible with an outside cat. I never know when she's going to come back home so that's very hard to coordinate. I end up having to cancel every appointment and the cat does not get the care that she needs. Pitiful. This will end up making me find another vet.

The staff overall here was very friendly, but the wait was ridiculous. I made payment arrangements and was told “ you should have told those initially you needed to do payment arrangements because then we wouldn’t have done an x-ray.” I thought this response was rather rude coming from a vet tech who’s SUPPOSED to have your pets best Interest in mind. The X-ray was the reason I found out what was wrong with my cat, the vets initial guess was wrong.

The reason for the one star review is because about a week ago my cat visited this clinic for a swollen stomach, which is a sign of organ failure, and a lot of other diseases. They did blood tests and a xray then came back and told us she was just fat. She was not. This morning her back legs are paralyzed, there's fluid in her lungs and in pain. A basic Google search revealed my cat has severe cardiac failure, which came easily be detected and diagnosed by xrays and blood tests. Either the Vet is blindly stupid or lied to us. I don't which is worse. Update: She's dead.

Get just one service and you only pay fee for that service. Add another service and pay the fee for that service plus $19.95. My theory for the reason is they charge like this is so they look like they are cheaper for each individual service which they are if you only get just one. They claim it's because you are using up more of their time. Check it out yourself.

I took my dog there, had good experiences and bad. One Vet told me I should put her down, but I kept her on the medication and 3 days later she was fine. Went there about a month ago, and she was coughing again. A different Vet gave her the same medication and never even suggested putting her down. I know her time is getting close, but as long as shes not suffering, I need my lil buddy. Im not gonna give up on her.

Well I can say I seen the difference in care here. Unlike those first come first serve places that are too busy to actually find out the cause of your pets illness etc. Took my dog to one of those places by the third week and $300 later I decided to go to Dixie animal because he wasn't getting better first thing they did was take blood test and he had acute pancreatitis. They gave him fluids and nausea medicine through the IV told me how to take care of him and one week later he was back to normal.

Brought my grumpy old chihuahua in for his appointment to get a nail trim and rabies vaccine yesterday. I ended up getting there and signing in about 10 minutes early. Once we were called to the exam room Dr. Bobb took care of my pup in a flash. We were in and out much quicker than I expected. I saw signs saying appointments were a new thing and I have to say I really appreciate being able to set an appointment. Even if the wait had been longer, it's nice to know you're "in line". We'll be back for sure. *Editing to add, we took the same little dog to them this week for a tooth extraction and cleaning and they understood how nervous I was about the anesthesia for our tiny 13 year-old dog. They did the procedure and even trimmed his nails for free. Thank you Dixie for treating my baby with care.

The front desk person also logged me in under the wrong persons name and when I called to check on my dog, they said he wasn't there. I will never go back there again. Poor service.
