We have found our forever vet staff in Dr. Diehl and KC Veterinary Care. My little guy Ron was suffering from horrendous dental pain and they were able to squeeze him in for a procedure during their packed dental month on a last minute basis. We are forever grateful for the care they’ve given him. Dr. Diehl is a bonafide cat whisperer and has treated Ron with such amazing care and empathy. Cannot recommend him and the clinic enough.

This is by far the best vet clinic I've ever been to. I have several bunnies and ferrets that I take here to see Dr. Entriken. He is just absolutely wonderful with them. He is extremely attentive, and addresses all concerns calmly and carefully. I have had several emergency situations where he fit me in last minute on a busy day and got me and my fur babies taken care of in no time. When one of my bunnies passed away last year, I received a card from the doctor, which was super thoughtful and sweet. I moved out of state a year ago, and I love it here so much that I still bring the animals here for their check-ups when I come to KC to visit. Thank you, KC vet team!!

They have been extremely professional and I appreciate all the hard work that they do for my pets. I very recently had to say goodbye to my 16 month old kitten who had developed bone marrow cancer, but they did everything they could to give him a fighting chance when we still weren't certain what it was. The day after I had to say goodbye, Dr. Entriken personally called me to express his condolences and to let me know I did everything I could. It meant a lot to me that they reached out, and I will be forever grateful for how the staff treated us during this situation.

I have a bearded dragon, and he is the light of my life I swear. So it was very important to me to find an exotic vet that I felt comfortable with. I currently live about thirty minutes away, but the closest vet to me doesn't have certifications in exotic animal care, unlike Dr Entriken! I first was introduced to Dr Entriken when I started my job at the aquarium, he is also the vet for that facility. He is very knowledgeable, and very compassionate. My local vet was very rough with my lizard when I brought him in for a regular parasite check. Dr Entriken treated my Chip like he was his own lizard, held him gently, talked to him. It's not something you see a lot with people handling reptiles, empathy. Chip needed to have a little bit of medicine the first time for a respiratory issue, and when we came back six months later for some constipation Dr Entriken was sure to ask that the cough cleared up. Then when Chip needed to have a little bit of a suppository, he was very gentle to him, and made sure to discuss all of his husbandry with me as well. I feel very confident in taking all of my animals to this facility now, mammals included. The price is better than my local vet as well. I believe a visit for exotics is around $50, and then all of the tests I've had were really reasonable. His respiratory issues just cost me about $150, much better off than I thought I'd get!

KC Vet care clearly cares for your pet as well as for your time. They get you in and out fast at a reasonable cost. They do special extra things too like give your pet a report card if you board them. They really make your pets feel good while protecting them, fixing them, or keeping them safe. Lots of good parking too. This doesn't seem important but it is. Other vets are in strip malls and you have to navigate through the parking lots. KCV has good parking that is safe to get in and out of. I ride my bike there and pull my pup in a trailer...they even have safe places for me to park.

The first time I took my dog to this vet, they attempted to return the wrong dog to me. I gave them the benefit of the doubt as the names are just a letter off. However I have now had a second bad experience. One vet there told me to switch my dogs food to a prescription diet to assist her pH balance, which I confirmed with him several times (that it would be a permanent switch). He stood with me as I picked out the food and once again I confirmed with him the brand and style of the food and how to slowly switch over to a new dog food so she wouldn’t get switch. Great. Yesterday I went to purchase more of this new food and was told I need a prescription if I go to the pet supply store. Or I can buy directly from the vet so I called the vet—am I going to have to have a prescription every time she needs new food for the rest of her life? The vet calls me back (a different one than the one that recommended the food) and tells me there is no reason she should be eating this, that her kidneys are fine and not to buy it. This means I’ve wasted money on prescription food and now have to switch back to her old dog food all over again so that she does not become sick. I don’t understand why the first vet insisted that I buy that food (kickback?) and the other completely contradicted that. Otherwise I’ve had good experiences with them but beware.

I brought my kitten in that i found a couples days. doctor said her she was okay beside her eye. we asked about her sneezing and he said it was due to stress. (never heard that before i have two other cats and i never heard that before.) late this evening her sneezing was getting worst and now she wont eat or drink her milk. but im not going back to pay another 160 dollars to have them nothing to help her. im will never being going back. The nursers at the front was very rude the lady with glasses and with brown short hair was very rude and thought she was better then us. like i said we will never being going back!

I would give this place 20 stars if I could. I adopted a six-year-old Yorkie/Silky mix, sweet as can be, but he has clearly had major vet trauma in his past. I tried several other places, and he got so terrified I ended up having to leave with him before seeing the vet at those places. Finally, I came to KC Vet Care, and every single member of the staff had Harley feeling so much more calm than I'd ever seen him, the visit was a breeze (and this included having his temp taken, vaccines injected and blood drawn). The doctor was very, very gentle and calming, even sitting on the floor rather than standing. The experience was so far above and beyond even my greatest hopes that there is no way I won't continue taking my Harley here. These guys rule!

When my mouse Hank got injured while I was cleaning his cage, I frantically called just about every vet within a 60 mile radius trying to get him in somewhere immediately. Kansas City Vet Care was the only place that could treat mice and get him in right away, so I made the hour drive from Lawrence and I’m so glad that I did. The staff was very comforting both on the phone and in person, and not only prescribed medication to help with the pain/swelling of his injuries, but also another to help with a skin condition that no other vet had been able to treat. They solved the immediate health problem and greatly improved Hanks quality of life in the long run. I also found the prices to be very fair, even for exotic pets, and the hours to be awesome for a super busy working student. I’ve now decided to make this my regular vet for both of my dogs too and couldn’t be happier. Thanks Kansas City Veterinary Care!

These guys are awesome. They have taken great care of my cat and bird. Every one is very nice and knowledgeable. They offer me water/coffee/soda every time I'm in. I once had to leave my cat there for a procedure and they were great about calling to give updates. A dog had come in needing emergency attention, so they called to tell me my cat's appointment would be behind schedule so not to worry when I didn't hear from them at the expected time.

The place itself is a bit old with creaky stairs but I got really great service. Everybody loved my ferrets and the vet seemed knowledgable. Overall, it was a great experience. The biggest upset is that I was charged for "biohazard removement" (something like that) probably because I told the vet one of my ferrets pooped in the room. It was annoying that they charged me twice for it even though one ferret did it, but it was only $2 per.

Truly amazing care. They actually know about Hedgehogs!!! Dr wasn't afraid to pick up my spike baby and get poked and huffed at. He did a marvelous job! She ended up needing surgery. He was very honest. He had no idea what the growth was or if it would come back. Was very impressed with the level of care he took when performing surgery and her after care. I've heard most vets would say when they don't know what it is that the hedgie should be put to sleep. Very grateful for the level of knowledge and care. Will drive as far as I have to to go here.

I cannot fully describe the depth of care shown to myself and my guinea pig, Herschel, when we took her in a couple of weeks ago. I woke up one morning, she was very sick, and called everywhere that treats exotics in the KC area. Kansas City Veterinary Care was the only place I could get her in that day. Even as brand new clients, they treated us like family. The veterinarian who saw us, Dr. Kirkwood, I believe, was kind, calm, and incredibly empathetic throughout the exam. We ended up losing Herschel that day, but somehow the fact that we were somewhere where everyone, even the reception staff, recognized the weight of our sorrow, and the importance that a little rodent can have, made that awful experience a bit less painful for me. I intend to continue to bring my pets here, and I highly recommend them.

I took my cat here because he did not yet have a vet in KC and I suspected he had worms. I was blown away by the care and attentiveness of the staff! Dr. Kirkwood was amazing and they got my cat all fixed up. I also appreciate that they stay open until 8 on some days of the week. I have had far too many experiences with vets just trying to gouge me for money or shove me out the door but at KC vet care they took all the time I needed to discuss my cat’s needs. This will become his permanent vet while i live here.

Dr Exline is exceptional. We brought our ball Python, Tars Tarkas, in due to a suspicion he might have a respiratory infection. Dr Exline’s knowledge of proper snake medication and treatment was on point. We had previously had a not so pleasant experience with a vet closer to home and made a 2.5 hour drive to see Dr Exline in hopes of seeing a more knowledgeable veterinarian with snakes. I can tell you his care and knowledge were WELL worth the 2.5 hour drive and my fiancé and i left confident that our Tars would be on his way to getting better.

I had a wonderful experience with KC Vet. Unable to get my dog, Ray, into my regular vet, KC Vet was able to schedule me for the same day I called. The staff was friendly and Dr. Carpenter was conducive in offering a treatment plan and answering questions. The clinic itself is one of the cleanest I have encountered in twenty-five years of pet ownership. I am considering moving Ray to KC Vet permanently.

Every time I come here my pets and I have an outstanding experience. You can schedule appointments via their app. You can also sign up to get notified via the app or email to keep your pets up to date. The prices are decent (I think I could get their shots for cheaper through the Humane Society). They offer water while you wait. I've never had to wait long at the front desk. They also offer pet boarding for like 15 a pet. I would highly suggest them, if my friends are ever looking for a new vet I always suggest them.

I’ve taken both my cats to Dr. Exline since they were adopted. He is great. He most recently did a dental on Gussie and this was her third in the almost 8 years I’ve had her. Now she only has two teeth left but she is doing great. She recovered well after each surgery also which always concerned me. Several years back I had dropped Gussie off to be seen by Dr Exline because she had tummy issues. He recommended she see an internist and even drove her there in order to be seen before the end of the day for me. I’ll never forget that he did that for us.

I have a cat who's been a bit of a mystery case and the vets here have gone to great lengths to help me understand how to keep this weirdo cat happy and healthy. Vet visits with cats can be a bit of an ordeal, but every time we've been seen here it's been seamless and easy. I can't say enough good things!

Our pets, from dogs to birds, have taken us to KCVC for years. We all receive terrific care there. The techs and front office skillfully ease what can be a stressful occasion; all docs are fantastic, experienced with exotics as well. We have a special fondness for Dr. Exline, who has kindly helped us through some tough decisions with elderly/ailing companions. Prices are reasonable. Just ask before you start, if you're unclear about any of it. We live much farther away now but still return; no sense going anywhere else.

Have been a customer since 2007. Facility is clean and well maintained. Always receive the most professional service from the staff. The staff is friendly and very compassionate to the pets. Our dog gets boarded a few times a year and is excited and happy to visit this clinic which, indicates her experiences while boarding are positive. In addition, she receives a report card to inform the customer what occurred during the stay. Prices for procedures are not competitive but the service is exceptional.

Dr. Entriken and the entire team at KC Veterinary Care are absolutely WONDERFUL! They truly care about your animal's wellbeing. Dr. Entriken cares for my gerbils, he truly is the best! He's sincere and compassionate, even with the smallest of animals. They squeezed me in on a Friday at 5 for an emergency, which I can say many people wouldn't want to stay late on a Friday! The whole team is so thoughtful. The wrote hand written cards and sent them to me when my previous gerbils had to be put to sleep. That is dedication and warmed my heart. If you take your animals here, you can be assured they'll get the best care, whether big or small!

I have never had an issue with scheduling and have always been able to come in during a time that works with my schedule. I have a hard time trusting vets as they often don't care enough about the animals or try and just shove you out the door while asking for money. This vet I visited for my hedgehog when she wasn't feeling good and I wasn't overly impressed but the vet himself was kind and genuinely cared about her health. So when I got a new puppy I took her here and I was given a different vet since she wasn't an exotic animal and I will say I LOVE Dr.Carpenter - She's overly friendly, she LOVES dogs and every time she sees mine I can see her face light up and that just makes me happy to see someone who wants whats best for the dog taking care of her for me. Any emergency or questions I have I always call her and she always get back with me as soon as possible. I value any suggestions and recommendations she gives me and trust her fully. Do NOT take your exotic animals here. I brought my rabbit after being very very clearly sick with large amount of evident symptoms (rabbits are prey animals so if they try to hide symptoms - if they are showing they are VERY sick). I was treated by a really young lady Dr.Kirkwood who probably hasn’t had much experience and that was clearly evident. She kept saying he seemed fine and couldn’t quite figure it out what it was. Even though she had no idea of what any symptoms meant, she still charged me 100$ for two different medications. I gave them all to him and he wasn’t better. I scheduled another appointment and he died the day before about a week after giving the meds. This vet is shame and disgrace to be treating exotic animals. If you want your sick pets to die, go here. Otherwise , I highly suggest going to aid hospital where they have been treating exotic animals for 30 years and can tell you more in a 5 minutes phone call then she ever could. Oh I forgot to mentioned I called them after all of this and they didn’t answer or return my call after leaving a very upset and detailed message. Shows how much they care!!!!!!

Dr. Diehl is the most amazing vet ever. He helped our family through the loss of our 14 yr old German Shepherd, talking us through difficult decisions. He has also cared for the pair of Corgies that joined our family later, educating us about the vaccines we need and the ones we don't, empowering us to make the best choices for our pups. I've also had good experiences with their boarding services and used them exclusively until they started requiring flu shots. (It's just too pricey for us now.) They are also awesome about working with our online rx provider for heartworm and other preventatives. I highly recommend them!

PLEASE READ: I just recently moved here and needed to find a vet that specialized in rats. I have a rat named Greymist that has to get her teeth filed at least once a month because they grow so fast. Much like the way tusks do. If they grow too long they can render her incapable of eating, gag her, stop her from drinking water...etc. I've been taking my baby girl to have her teeth trimmed at our old vet for nearly a year and a half and have never had any problems. Maybe nicked once or twice but nothing serious. Just a small drop of blood. When I went to take Greymist to meet with Dr. Entriken to have them trimmed she was bleeding absolutely everywhere. By the time we made it home she was covered in blood, but she seemed to still be alright. She groomed and cleaned herself up, with my assistance and she went along her way. Hours later I went to check on her and I found that she had passed away. I've just buried her. I checked her body and I noticed that she still had a tooth that hadn't even been filed properly despite her passing. I just thought anyone reading this review should know. I will NEVER be bringing ANY of my animals to this place every again. If I could rate this place a murderous zero I would >:'(

We have been taking our dogs to KC Vet for many years dating back to the Dr. Hecker days. The care they give them is second to none. We currently have Dr. Leanna Carpenter as our doctor for our two Chain Of Hope rescue dogs. She is not only a great doctor, but is very personable and our dogs love her! We have also had Dr. Erdozine perform knee ligament replacement on both rear knees of our pit bull, Pinky. He did a fantastic job and is also very concerned for her well being and personable. The staff here is excellent, friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a vet in midtown Waldo area!

That particular day, they were having a large event and were not seeing many clients, but they squeezed us in. Within three weeks of moving to Kansas City in August of 2017, my 14.5 year old lab let me know that she was ready to go. I had barely started my new job and had yet to find a new veterinarian. I searched for a vet near my neighborhood and found Dr. Kirkwood at Kansas City Veterinary care. Literally, my first introduction to Dr. Kirkwood and the rest of the team at KC vet care was discussing an end of life plan for my oldest dog whom I'd had since she was a puppy. Dr. Kirkwood and the entire staff could not have been kinder or more supportive. For the past year, I have been taking my other dogs to KC vet care and have been pleased with all of the vets and the staff. I highly recommend this professional and caring team.
