We love Dr. Merk. She is so kind and gentle with our elderly cat. We came to her with our cat who had years of failed treatment for her dermatitis. Dr. Merk helped us find something that worked for our cat - a treatment that had never even been suggested to us by our previous vet. She is great and seems to genuinely care about the animals she sees. The vet techs are also very nice and knowledgeable! Prices are very reasonable too.

What can I say about all of the staff at Ashworth Road! They are all fantastic. My dog is my soulmate and they talk with him and care for him just as he was one of their own. Gus recently had a small surgery and Dr Merk was out of town so she had me send pictures of his incision to make sure healing right. I would highly recommend ARAH to anyone. They are simply great. Comments from Gus. ‘They don’t give me enough treats!’ But I love them anyway.

I did not have a good experience here. You can tell they prefer cats and they only care about the money. They were always trying to have me get the most expensive of everything and then make me feel guilty when I couldn't afford it. They do not do house calls and will only talk to you during business hours. I've had a lot of vets in my past and they've all made me feel like they would do anything for my dog except Ashworth Road Animal Hospital. I had to put my dog down over the weekend so I brought him to Iowa Veterinary Specialties and they were amazing. Ashworth Road Animal Hospital didn't even call me. I had to call them! They didn't even care and told me that they received a fax that my dog has passed and that I was all settled up financially at the front desk. No condolences whatsoever. I will not go through this vet ever again.

They used a variety of fear-reducing techniques to ensure that our boys, who normally hate the vet, had a positive experience while receiving all the shots, nail trims, and tests that they needed. This is the only place I will ever take my pets to! The Veterinarians and the rest of the staff are so caring and friendly! I have had to put two of my pets down in the time that I have been a client, and was devastated both times. Dr. Merk and the rest of the staff gave me the time I needed to say goodbye, and were gentle and loving with my Izzy and Buddy. They sent me a hand-written sympathy card both times, that showed me that they truly cared. Wonderful people!

We take our dogs (a great dane and a mastiff) as well as our cat to the Ashworth Road Animal Hospital and have for many years. The staff are amazing and truly care about the animals that they see. Our great dane has had many medical problems since we took him in and the vets have worked with us to develop plans for not only his medicine but also for his food needs. They always return my phone calls within 24 hours (usually that day if it isn't late in the day when I call them) and give me various options for handling medical situations with the dane. They are never pushy about procedures, they never try to upsell products and they understand about having to watch finances. In fact, they usually will tell you how to purchase an item cheaper than one could through the clinic. I really appreciate the care and attention that they give to our furbabies. I highly recommend Ashworth Road Animal Hospital.

We use Ashworth Road Animal Hospital as our primary care facility for our two cats. All of the veterinarians and staff members are friendly, helpful, and genuinely care about the wellbeing of our pets. We receive a consultation call before any major "work" is done on our cats during an appointment, and a follow-up call a day or two later to check in on how they're doing. They're also great about informing us about exactly what's going on in terms that are easy to understand. I highly recommend this place!

However, one of the doctors forgot to inform me on risks or preventative actions to take after a surgery, then called me a liar, became sarcastic and started raising her voice to me, very disappointed that the doctor is so disrespectful, all I wanted was to have a nice safe surgery for my dog and she seemed to not care at all.
