I called different Veterinary clinics to see if they care for Sugar Gliders, and was referred to Animal Doctors and I'm so glad I was. When I called the clinic, it was later in the day so I was thinking that I couldn't get Penelope in until the next day. I explained to the front desk person what the symptoms were and she said that she was going to talk to the doctor about it. The doctor said to bring her in later that night, even though it would be at the end of the day. That made me feel like they care about your pet. We took her in and all the staff were nice. The doctor handled Penelope with care, trying not to frighten her any more than she already was. He did a thorough exam and even checked the urine and excrement for bacteria. Even though we kept them open late, they didn't seem to mind. Happy to report that Penelope is back to normal now thanks to Dr. Sanders and the staff!

Anyone who loves their pet in the Des Moines area should consider bringing them here. Dr Lloyd was outstandingly knowledgeable and caring. She followed up with me a few days and a few weeks after our initial appointment to check on our pup, took her time in our appointment to cover everything, gave us tons of resources, and acknowledged our concerns.

Our cat Missy has been a patient at the clinic for about 4 years now. All of the docs are very attentive and gentle. They're passion for their work is evident, and they're attuned to the fear and anxiety that Missy feels when she visits. That's not been true at every clinic where she has been a patient. The staff were very friendly when I arrived and generally seemed concerned about my pet. With very few herp vets in the area, there's not many places to choose from. But the vet was very knowledgeable about my turtle. The vet gave me some great suggestions to help optimize her health. Plus this place has reasonable pricing.

I was very disappointed with my entire visit. My cat decided to urinate on himself as I put him in his crate. He had never done this before. Had no choice but to go so I wouldn't be late. To say the least he smelled very bad! When I got to clinic the check in was sooo sloow. 12 minutes later I got to check in. A man had brought his dog in 30 early, so he got my appt. I voiced that I hope I go before him since I was on time for my scheduled appt with a smelly cat. No they took him first. I had asked the receptionist if they groomed she said yes. She would check to see if they could bath my cat. No they couldn't. 40 min into visit i see the vet. He mentioned that my cat did smell and would see if they could clean him up. Nope, they just sprayed smelly stuff on cat and that was it. When leaving I tried to make appt for grooming next morning, no they couldn't see him. So I needed shampoo to try and bath him at home. $10 bottle for 1 time use. I asked if they just had some sample because I don't bath him and no they didn't have any. THis was the most unhelpful disorganized vet I have ever been to. To say the least I will NOT go back. No one care less about the issues.,

Took my cat in for sneezing and congestion. After multiple tests including a syringe to the bladder for a urine sample I was given some pills for thyroid. Did nothing for the congestion which only got worse. Google was more effective in finding an OTC cat safe antihistamine which cleared him right up. I don't feel they listened or took the symptoms described in to consideration, only thought of a general cat of his age and what was common. He may have thyroid issues too, but that wasn't my primary concern when he can't breathe properly. Fixing the plumbing while the house is on fire.

This is the best vet office in Des Moines area. Dr. Benham, Dr. Lloyd and Dr. Sanders and the staff are the best! They care so much about my dogs. I followed Dr. Benham from his last office to this office and I'm so glad I did because I now get in quicker for appointments and my dogs can see any of the doctors without me worrying about their care. Give them a call if you are looking for an office full of people who care about animals as much as you!

I have been taking my cat to see Dr. Benham for 8 months for diabetes. Dr. Benham has been nothing but caring and passionate. My cat has struggled as we were figuring out the correct dose of insulin, changes with food and added medications and I couldn't be happier with their patience. My cat is doing great now and I am so thankful! Thank you to Dr. Benham and the rest of the Animal Doctors staff!

I am not going to fault them for never actually coming to a solution for my high-maintenance dog. Recommend this vet for anyone in the area. They are smart people that work here.

I had surgery scheduled for my pup at Animal Doctors for close to two weeks. Her surgery date is in a few days. My dog has a busted ligament in her back leg, and due to her being a larger breed, she is in a lot of pain, and there is a great risk that her other ligament will blow . We get a call today, three days before her 3000$ surgery, for the receptionist to tell us that they are not equipped to do the surgery and that I need to go elsewhere. She seemed like she couldn't care less and she didn't seem to understand why I was so outraged. We have been waiting for two weeks; they told me this is the surgery they needed to do two weeks ago... How were they not aware they weren't equipped to do it then? Now my dog has to withstand pain for however long it takes us to get an appointment at a fancy specialist. Which will likely be a couple more weeks. Which maximizes the chance of my dog needing another 3000$ surgery on her other leg. Meanwhile my husband and I are struggling to live. Other than that, when I took her in previously to get her leg checked out, I was given very minimal information and the doctor never graced me with his prescence to give me the info. A nurse gave me the info and she wasn't aware of what type of drug was given to my dog to counter the sedative. Very unsatisfied and digusted with this place. They don't think things through. Or they do and they just don't give a damn. UPDATE: The receptionist called the specialist for me and made an appointment. I felt this was their duty in the first place after they hastily canceled surgery but am really happy they made the effort to fix the mistake.
