The ladies there were absolutely wonderful. We took our puppy in at midnight and each and everyone one there explained the steps they were going to do and what the cost would be. Thanks to them our puppy is back to his playful self.

My dog accidentally drank a whole bottle of vape juice and I took her there immediately. The vet we had was very nice and got to work on her immediately. If it wasn't for them my baby midnight wouldn't be alive right now.

ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS PLACE. Alcatel they care about is MONEY. Money upfront and Money when your done. The care is terrible.

Some of the staff are very rude and hateful.

Very emotional visit. Our cat had trama to his leg and it cannot be saved. Dr. Jae Tobias was so caring and informative, I want to thank you for everything you did for our family. You made him comfortable as well as peace of mind for us. Still a long way to go but thankful for your team!

I am 13 years old and this place told my mom that I would have to watch my dog die. they also said that until my mom paid the 110 dollars they couldn't do anything as I sat on the floor crying by my dog watching her get more ill.

At a time when your pet needs the best, most comforting care, this clinic provided me and my Minnie the best medical and customer service I could hope for.

I took my dog there after a couple nights of vomiting and not eating nor drinking. Northwood was the only place that was open at the time of night and close by. The staff was great, and they were super kind to my dog and us. The doctor (cannot remember her name) came and she was super nice and she did what she had to do. After doing the exam, she explained what she thought was wrong. They came in with the treatment plan and it was way out of our price range (almost $500 just for the exam and the X-ray. Not for anything else if he were to need more care.) when I told her if there was any payment plans, if we could pay half of it up front and pay the rest the next time I got paid, they told me that they didn’t offer any payment plans, and they needed the entire payment upfront. So I had to opt out and just give him fluids and a shot to keep him from vomiting. Thankfully, that seemed to get him back in the spirits. I’m thankful for the staff and their 24hr care they have, but a bit upset that they were going to turn us away completely if we didn’t have the money upfront. And if I did have the money for the X-ray and it was something more serious, they probably would have turned us away because I defiantly don’t have the money to have emergency surgery. Also, had to call them back for a billing issue (paid with debit and the charged my account twice) and while on hold for ten minutes, I heard they offered a credit where you could make low monthly payments so they could treat your dog. Why wasn’t that mentioned at the time of my visit? I could have done the X-ray and would have let them care for my dog, because they are really good. But sadly, It seems they care a lot about money.

I cannot express the amount of compassion these people have. They were so kind and informative. They were also open and honest about our cat's condition. They made a terrible night just a little easier.

Our Doberman, Fievel, was hit by a mini-van in May, 2017, after he slipped his lead. The staff at VCA has been absolutely WONDERFUL in attending to him. Dr. Jae Tobias is the BEST veterinarian surgeon ever and we are deeply indebted to her. The damage to Fievel included 3 broken legs, with two compound fractures and his initial prognosis was grim. About 24 hours after he was admitted, he bloated and required emergency surgery and gastroplexy. Today, two months later, we are still dealing with an external skeletal fixator and ongoing x-rays and bandage changes and upcoming surgeries. But he is loved and well cared for and I could not ask for a better group of folks to look after him! He is obviously a staff favorite and he loves all of the vets and techs! Over the years I've had many of my Doberman's to Northwood for emergencies and euthanasia's and they all have been treated with kindness and we have been shown compassion and care. My only regret is they are a 50-minute drive from our house. I highly recommend VCA Northwood to anyone.

The worst of the worst here, all they care about is Money.

This is a wonderful place to take your pets. Over the years I have taken 3 dogs, 7 or 8 cats to them on a regular basis. I've always been able to find one of the vets that seemed to just click with the animals. On several instances when we needed emergency care, they were "on it" and took excellent care of the pet. The front staff has changed over the years, but they always seem to get a good mix of individuals who are friendly to the clients. The techs that have worked with my pets have always been kind, knowledgeable and helpful. Can't say enough about this place. If you are just wanting a cheap solution to something just remember you may get "cheap" treatment for your pet. None of my pets have ever been any way but "special." Thanks, Northwood!

Last night, I had to sign euthanization papers for my cat. She was completely limp and struggled to breath...and was on oxygen. She wasn't showing signs that she was reacting to the medications. Me,my husband, and our 2 small boys went into the back to say goodbye to her. My cat stood up after I gave her a hug. (Which was big improvement for the state she was in) we all decided to give her more time before euthanization...and the doctors and Deniese saved my cats life and she was able to come home this morning. I am forever grateful and I know if something like this ever happens I'm taking them here...and my animals are in good hands!

The entire staff was great and we felt safe leaving our Ace in their care. They did everything they could to help him and we are very grateful. Thank you

The staff at VCA were caring and committed to finding the answers to the questions in the rapid decline of my senior dog. I had never met people who are as thorough, compassionate and centered on the care of your pet. Veterinary care is a difficult profession. The costs of care is much more than times past, but so is the quick diagnostics and care now available. I am grateful for the whole team there. They explained everything and were so, so much more than I ever expected.

I will absolutely never go back to this place! Our dog was here, as he was having back to back seizures, he was not doing well at all! I'm not sure why they charge a 124$ exam fee, because IF they even did an exam, which I was not even informed of anything about his exam, I had to call them the next day just to figure out what his weight was, the lady at the front desk was awesome, but the lady who was the vets Assistant was the most uncompassionate person I have ever met! As she was giving me estimates on different ways to go, ( which are absolutely ridiculous) she had the nerve to slide me a euthanize estimate, which by the way was the same price as the estimate to put him on the medication, that wasn't the problem, as I slid it back to her and said not an option, she says, w"we don't want him to suffer from the seizures do we? " I said "well, we want to give him a chance to live with the medications, don't we?" All she did was look at me! I heard from my vet, that he needed to be on the IV they had him on, for at least an HR. He was only on it maybe ten to fifteen minutes, so I paid for something that they didn't even do right! I seen the actual doctor one time, to go over how much it would possibly cost to keep him on meds, never seen her again after that! When I Thebrought him in, he was a mess from where he had been seizing for awhile, I left with him in the same mess! I get you're not a grooming place, but I at least thought maybe he would have been helped and cleaned up a little bit. The place is an absolute joke! I get that it's an emergency room hospital! But y'all need to read that patient bill if Rights paper you have in the exam rooms, because some of you need some more training!

I would give 10 stars if I could! Took my boy Hunter there with a broken leg. The front office staff was very supportive during the emergency hours on July 4th. Dr. Tobias, the surgeon was wonderful and explained the surgery and after care he was going to need. The staff was fabulous and took great care of my poor boy and I received several updates with pictures. I highly recommend this Emergency Animal Hospital and will continue to take my family pets there. I'm so happy and thankful to have my boy Hunter home now on the mend. Thank You VCA Northwood!

Losing my little guy was and still is incredibly hard. I'm beyond impressed with how everything was handled. The staff at this place is absolutely fantastic and some of the most compassionate people on the planet. Thank you all for doing what you did for Jerry.

The only 24 hour vet in Madison county that I know of. They did surgery in one of my my dogs and did a fantastic job. They seem to really care. It's expensive though, but that's just the price you pay for them being open when you need them most.

Christmas Eve night our 12 year old boxer had a stroke, she already had other issues and we knew it was time to make that decision to let her go. The staff was very professional and sympathetic to our situation and assured us we weer making the right decision for our pet. While the experience was very difficult, they made it much easier to cope with. The gentleman at the front desk was especially calming and professional. Would highly recommend this facility. Thank you all

Morgan Etchison

We had to put our beloved golden to sleep. They were so sympathetic, to us. They explained every single thing that was going on. They have compassion, and they will help anyway they can. They are honest, and aren't just trying to get your money.

Theresa Hill

I want to thank VCA for helping us with our cat Rocky. He was a neighborhood cat that always hung out around here for 5 years, and he got very sick. We had to put him down, it wasn't easy at all. The staff was very helpful and kind. We all will miss Rocky dearly, but he isn't suffering anymore. Thank you again for all your help.

Dorsi Miller

I had to take my baby, Jack, there for an end of life decision. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do. From the young man who answered the phone and worked at the counter, to the vet and techs, everyone was so kind and compassionate.

Diana Clevenger

Some of the most compassionate and caring people work at this clinic. They were so compassionate when we had to euthanize our dog. They made a very difficult thing just a little easier for us. Thank you so much!!

This clinic is amazing. When I lost my dog Spazz a couple of years ago and didnt have the money to give her the procedure she needed or to euthanize her, they put her down and didnt charge me. Its not something I wanted to do, I loved that dog, but funds just werent there. I was struggling with bills, a car problem, and childcare. They even sent a card after to check up on me. All I can say is they really helped me in a time of need and even gave me words of comfort when I was in tears over this decision. Very sweet people who truly care about what they do. I am so grateful you are in town and local. Thank you for all of your help, I really did need it and I really do appreciate it. I was so relieved to see that good people are out there and they just want to help <3

Changing my review. I met a lovely technician that explained a lot to me. She took the time to be kind and talk to us. I appreciate that. The more I come here, the more I like it. I have a trouble maker pup. HE keeps messing bandages up and they keep cheerfully fix it. yeah. I recommend them.

Ebony had been diagnosed with CHF nearly 3 years ago at our regular vet. She had been on 3 heart meds a day. She relapsed at 1am. I took her to Northside. She was almost dead. I made the very painful choice to let her go to rainbow bridge. Everyone was wonderful. I was a total mess. They were very kind. I was able to be with her as she left. I had grabbed the wrong credit card on my way out. Even though I wanted to go get the correct card they said not to worry about it! Thank you. We had the money to pay but the gesture was so kind as I was in no state to drive.

Last night (around midnight) one of our chocolate labs eye started swelling up. Of course we were nervous, and our usual vet place doesn't have emergency hours. After looking, we decided to call VCA to see if it was an emergency situation and they advised us it was better to be safe than sorry. When we got there all of the staff was very accommodating and polite to us and our scared puppy dog. We got seen very quickly, and our dog was nervous and barking a lot but the staff didn't mind and were so amazing! I honestly was very surprised of how awesome our visit was. for it being past midnight, but to still be greeted with smiles and willingness to help us through this scary incident was more than we could have asked for! They even showed us how to administer the medicine correctly to help our dog. I am impressed with the emergency care here and would recommend going here if your pet needs help outside of your regular vet hours.

My fur baby Baxter had to have two surgeries on his hind legs in the last 4 months. Both times he had to stay overnight. I called at 10:00 at night to check on him and they didn't make me feel like I was being a pest. They told me I could call anytime thru the night if I wanted to check on him. Dr. Tobias is very caring, and compassionate, I highly recommend her, she is AWESOME!! The techs were so kind to me and Baxter, and they always put me at ease. The front office staff has always treated me very kind, Trish has always went out of her way to take care of me and answer any questions I may have, she ROCKS! Everyone overall is great here! I'd give you 10 stars if I could!! Thank you for taking good care of Baxter!

On 1-8-17 I had to rush my dog in from Marion, IN and even though the outcome wasn't good for my dog Cookie. The staff was extremely compassionate during the hardest decision I've had to make. The vet which I am sorry I can remember his name was very compassionate and the one thing that stood out the most was after saying good bye to Cookie he wanted to talk to me to make sure I was OK to drive home safely and told me to take as much time as I needed. Cookie was my baby and lived a great 10yrs with me and my family. Even though the outcome was bad I couldn't of asked for better service with so much care for your animal and for you and your family. I can't say Thank You enough for everything.

Got charged for an X-Ray a few years back because my dog was screeching in pain. They said nothing was wrong. A week later my dog has a huge abscess on its side that it chewed through overnight. I give my dog a bath and feel a bone sticking through its stomach (apparently it got ahold of a bone and swallowed it). Call doctor and he was just trying to cover his ass saying "he didnt have broken bones during the X-ray". He then accuses me of "just wanting to get rid" of my dog, but he screwed up and it was somehow me trying to get rid of my dog. I wouldnt even take a goldfish here.

M Hildebrant

I only take my dogs here if absolutely necessary. My St. Bernard started having siezures and they put her on meds and told us to call if she needed refills. When the time for refills came I called (with plenty of time- 5 days) and they said they would have to “check with the vet”. When I called to check up a few days later they told me that a note was in the file referring us to her regular vet and then they LIED about calling and leaving a message at the number I had given them. Now I have to deal with a different vet that is difficult to get ahold of and all the while, if I can’t get the meds, my dog will be going through withdrawals from a very high dose of an anti-siezure med. I only hope that I can get her a refill before it kills her. If you value your pets, STAY AWAY.

Have to give one star to review. I hate coming here. They are rude, unprofessional, greedy, and uncaring. Spent 5 minutes with my dog, gave her drugs to mask symptoms, charged $170. Now a week later I had to take her back, went to my vet, who needs x-rays and he was appalled at the price I was charged for inadequate, incompetent service.

I have 10 week old kitten named tiger. He was playing with my one year old cat tabby. He got scratched in his eye. Since then his eye has become swollen and its irritating him. Im not sure what to do? This morning i woke up his lil eye was dark blood tinted. I want to bring him in but i dont have the money for a vet bill this week. I certainly dont want to hear i have to pay up front or put him down for free. Thats just wrong. ( i read couple your reviews) i guess what im asking is do you offer payment plans or something. I just want my lil man to be okay. Please tell me you can help.

They ARE open 24 hrs for emergencies despite what Google says. I would come back 100% doctor was very knowledgeable and to the point. Everyone on the staff was great. My dog got into something she shouldn't have and got very sick/intoxicated and they did everything to make her feel better.

Alexis Jeffries

I loved them they were very helpful and kind even when I was bawling my eyes out. My dog broke her leg and I took her in they got her right away, got her casted quickly and gave me options on surgery and who to call.

We had to take our dog in 2008 for emergency situation. Considering our situation they were excellent. They gave us a quote, but the quote was nowhere near what we paid. Much higher, but under the circumstance it was understandable. It was a touch and go situation, our dog was lucky she made it. They kept us up to date and took very well care of her. The techs, front office and veterinarians were all professional and friendly.

I highly recommend VCA Northwood to everyone. Dr. Tobias and the entire staff were so wonderful. They truly cared about me and my baby and took time to make sure I understood the treatment plan, all of findings and answering all of my questions. Thank you, everyone for a great experience.

I've been there when my dog got hit by a car and he has to have his leg amputated. All the doctors were great! We called back to get a estimate on the amputation. The receptionist was so rude wouldn't give any information and told us we probably couldn't afford it anyway So now Ive got to try to get the x-rays from them. So I guess I'll take my $2000 to Fishers. Way to go!! Way to keep that money in Anderson

We had to put our baby Sam to sleep. The staff couldn't have been sweeter. They made a very hard time for us just a little bit easier. They set up for her to be cremated, and we got her back in a lovely box, along with some of her fur and her paw print. Thank you to all the staff.

This is the nicest Veterinary Hospital I have ever been to. From the facility to the staff. Very nice! Plus being open 24hrs is awesome.

On January 6, Boston, my 10 year old pit bull, was diagnosed with IMHA by Dr. Hobson at Muncie Care Animal Hospital. He referred us to Northwood and without their excellent care, Boston wouldn't have been able to spend his final days with me, at home, in my bed snuggled together. Unfortunately I had to euthanize Boston on January 11 but Dr. Matthew at Northwood and all of the veterinary staff were remarkable, helpful, compassionate and understanding. This was my first time facing a life or death health emergency like this and Dr. Matthew definitely helped me have hope yet talked about this disease straight up and was honest about the prognosis. And a big thank you to the front desk staff who processed the donations that came in from my friends, family, supporters and even strangers. I know it was a little overwhelming at times but without their donations I wouldn't have been able to get Boston's medical care paid for. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Kelley Stewart

Prepare to spend $125 just to have the vet see your pet! Make sure that your pet is literally fighting for their life and can't wait another day because you will leave your arm and your leg behind after your visit! I walked out with nothing more than an exam and antibiotic injection and that cost me $197.00! Make sure that you ask what every injection and procedure will cost, before it is given, because at least in my case, they won't make you aware before hand! Had I known that an antibiotic inj. would cost around $75 I would of respectfully declined!! Especially since it wasn't expected to do a whole lot for her situation. What is my gripe? It's not the doctor nor the staff. I really liked the doctor and her no-nonsense, straight forward approach. It wasn't busy in the least, so I was able to get right in. My gripe was that I wasn't told the cost of the injection and I was charged a emergency exam fee when 1) it wasn't an emergency 2) there was no other patients waiting to be seen that my case was taking time from. I debated for an hour whether to wait until Monday or take her in. My pet's condition was concerning,...and at worst - serious, but in no means life threatening. This was confirmed by the doctor. Yet, I was charged as if it were. I brought in my geriatric cat because she hasn't been able to pee in her box. So, assuming it was a UTI (and her frail age), I wanted to make sure she was given an antibiotic and looked over to make sure she wasn't blocked because her bladder felt full to me...(and a blocked cat CAN be a life-threatening scenario). It was explained that it's unusaual for a cat to get UTI's and more often than not, it was related to stress (which makes sense because we have just moved). In an emergency situation, I can understand emergency pricing. But on a Sunday afternoon, when there's no one in the waiting room and my pet isn't fighting for her life, I would have expected that I would be charged according to the case. Maybe a little more than a regular vet, but NOT $125.00!!! I understand that they are en 24-hour emergency vet hosp, but it was 12 noon on a Sunday, not 2:00 am. I feel taken and my compassion for my pet exploited. And I can tell you this, unless my pet is choking on it's blood or having a severely life-threatening emergency, I will take my chances and wait for my vet who is far more reasonable and fair and doesn't take advantage of my concern for my pet when she is ill. Just some food for thought. UPDATE: To be fair, I must make everyone aware that the owner has reached out and made an honest effort to try and make things right, after hearing about my complaints. I do believe that they care and don't want anyone to feel taken advantage. I have since returned for a very serious pet emergency and they were very kind, helpful and compassionate. There was no miscommunication about expenses and I can't think of a way they could've handled the situation any better. I think as long as there's clear communication about pricing and treatments, so that you know what your getting and the price it will cost you, then you have nothing to worry about.

Dustin Wilson

Needed emergency help and was told we have to have the full bill up front to help you or we can put your animal down for free. Would not take an animal here for any reason.

Paula Pollock

Took our dog here after we got home from work and found her throwing up blood. They did not want to help at all. There was one other family at the clinic and the veterinarian came to our room once and barely checked our dog. We sat for over 30 minutes. Their service is awful. I thought this was supposed to be an emergency clinic. Got charged 124 dollar fee just for them to check her temperature and heart rate. I would not recommend this place to anybody. The only time they wanted to help us was when they saw that we were leaving. This place is a joke, don’t take your pet there if you actually want services. I hope they enjoy our 124 dollar donation.

I have never had a Veterinary Hospital take such care. They treated my kitten Denver as if he was their cat. Wonderful experience, and we plan to keep them as our Vet. Extremely affordable and very fair. Thank You so much for your care and love for animals.
