REVIEWS OF Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital IN Indiana

Last Friday morning I had to put my sweet baby Maya to rest. I read some bad yelp reviews about this place and I could not have had a better experience. From my first phone call to when I arrived, I was treated with compassion and kindness. This was an awful day for me but the Dr and staff were so nice and helpful. I recommend them highly.

Stephen Reinhart

We had an emergency visit here with my dog, and they took very good care of him. The staff was very helpful, and friendly. They made sure my dog was good before we took him home.

Carrie Buisman

I’ve taken my dogs here over the years after hours when you can’t wait for the vet. It’s not cheap but they are very clear with pricing up front. If it can’t wait, this is the place to go and your pet will def be taken great care of.

Ava Graham

Took my pet there, he seemed to be in distress. When they evaluated him I was told he was getting ready to pass. They were very compassionate and even made something to take him home in. They gave me all the time I needed to compose myself and thoughtfully sent me on my way, they're fantastic!

Bethany H

Everyone was very nice and helpful.

Dallas Platt

They really tried to get us help with my daughters cat though financing couldn't be possible at the time. They didn't let us leave without at least letting a nurse take a good look at her cat.

Greg H

They were very caring when our dog died.

Christie Badillo

Very personable and kind. Considerate of feelings.

Wonderful staff who took great care of my Dog!

Debbie Swihart

Top of the line. Only ER in the state with these credentials. Staff very caring and know their stuff!. I pray I never have to visit again, but would go to NIVES over any other, no doubt about it. Thank you NIVES.

Rose Putman

Most caring professional technicians. My 7 year old Chihuahua, Hopie broke her left foot jumping off a chair. We rushed her to the emergency hospital. She received the best care. The doctors and staff were so caring. After a long 10 weeks she has fully recovered. Without there care Hopie would have not fullly recovered. Forever grateful to the entire staff.

Zev Cramp

Very good, on top of every situation and outcome

Erik Benroth

It's never a great reason to go to the hospital with your pet but NIVH was a great choice they made our time there very painless. My dog had a ball in his small intestine they did surgery right away and my dog was back to himself in a week's time. I would suggest NIVH for anything that your local vet does not have the man power to handle

Julie Hendry

They take good care of our pets. Ready to help when you have a question.

Randy

Over the weekend we brought our dog in and ultimately had to put him down so he wouldn't suffer. Nives is not our normal vet so they didn't know us or our dog at all but regardless were very caring and understanding and tried to help as best they could. They made a horrible situation better because they truly tried to help and the compassion they showed when we made the horrible decision to to ease our dog's pain.

Sabrina Wallen

Not very impressed with the hospital. Our regular vey recommended it for a second opinion. There is nothing the doctor could do anymore about our baby just recommended to put him to sleep the same day. She showed us her empathy but checking out the reception workers just cared about the pay which very pricey for a simple consult. I was crying but they seemed to be only concerned about making the payment and signing what was necessary .

Sheree Behrendsen

They are good, they care and are great communicating with the pet parents. The care is excellent and priced accordingly so be prepared. If you care enough about your pet to have them there, you will handle the charges. I highly recommend them. I've used them for many years.

Edward Crasper

Sadly, this wasn't our first middle-of-the night trip here. This time our parrot got stuck in some string and nearly strangled. We got great care and Miss Luna is happy and healthy and back to her old self.

Dawn Doster

Wonderful care here. Have used the ER and my dog has had 2 knee surgeries and we're now in Rehab. We're very lucky to have such a skilled specialty hospital and ER in town!!

Lisa Luv

This place is amazing! They were very caring and even gave us cat treats when my cat got loose in parking lot

Jim Bob

The only emergency hospital that I will take my little doggie

Stephen Reinhart

We had an emergency visit here with my dog, and they took very good care of him. The staff was very helpful, and friendly. They made sure my dog was good before we took him home.

SENPAI !

this place is a corrupt money sucking pit. they lie to you, over charge you, and will do whatever test and meds they can do to milk every cent out of you. I've been forced to go 3 times to this place because they have a monopoly on pet emergencies past 6pm and I've been taken advantage of every time and even told that if I don't pay 4k my dog needs put down. another vet fixed that same issue for less than $300. they dont care about the animals that come in. this place is utterly terrible and if I could give them negative starts i would. please dont take your animals here unless absolutely necessary and if you do question everything they say. dont let them screw you

Judy Boyd

We took Dillon, German Shepherd, here to see about hip replacement surgery. The surgeon was very thorough and methodolacol in her explanation. Unfortunately, it is not a quick fix,, no hip replacement.. taking Dillon back today for cat scan and more diagnosis.

David McGregor

Great emergency care. We had blood in our dog's urine. They quickly diagnosed a possible kidney stone and gave us information to get back with our regular veterinarian. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and explained every step along with associated costs.

Chris Ebert

Caring personnel and immediate help for our ill and much loved boxer. Would recommend for any cherished pet.

Dana Monroe

Staff all great with my dog and with my husband and I during a stressful time with our dog having eye issues. They remembered us when we came through the door, and my dog was always happy to go with them for necessary procedures. Everyone listened to our concerns and answered our questions thoroughly. So glad to a have a 24 hour place right down the road. Cannot recommend enough for emergency care!

Mary Herendeen

I was surprised at how professional and humanlike this animal hospital was. I have never been there before, but have heard of them many times (I work in the pet industry). I know it's expensive, because it's for emergencies and situations outside of most typical veterinarian services, but it's probably relevant to the care the animals are receiving. I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the level of care that the patient I visited was receiving. I hope I never have to use their services, but it is reassuring knowing that a 24-hour pet emergency care center is available nearby.

Jane Hughes

Very friendly and nice place

David Kamer

Very nice and very quick

Zoie Howland

the one and only emergency veterinary clinic in Fort Wayne. they were able to save my 3 week old kitten was knocking on heaven's door. Bravo!

Mike Rautenkranz

Good services. HIGH prices. Especially for medications. 3 1/2 times the cost of CVS.

Howard Rohrabaugh

Awesome caring staff.

Shannon Kelley

Very nice on the initial phone call, they returned my call as the unit I needed to schedule wasn't in that day. They call back on Monday morning and we scheduled the ultrasound. They called back a couple days before the appt to reschedule as the Dr would be out. It was another week and a half out. Not happy but not much I could do. When we arrived they were very accommodating and a pleasure to talk to although the front desk ladies asked me the same questions over and over. Test went well, Dr and staff explained everything well and gave rx for diagnosis. A couple weeks later I called to follow up on a refill. Now let me explain, we live an hour and half away. When I talked to NIVES, they said they would call my local vet and let me know if they had the medicine. To me, that sounded like they would call me back. I forgot about it until around 4:30 pm when I called my vet to see about picking up the rx. They knew nothing about it, checked and didn't have it in stock. They called the NIVES and was told I could drive the hour and half to pick it up from them. Needless to say I was a little perturbed that they (NIVES) could call me back earlier so we could discuss my options rather than the drive to Ft Wayne. Upon further discussion with my vet, we came up with an alternative. Picked up the rx and arrived back home. About this time (5:30pm) I got a call from NIVES asking if I would be picking up the rx from them. I shared that we had an alternative and it was already administered bit thanked them for calling. Great place, staff and interaction but not so good on follow up communication. Someone there dropped the ball. Glad my local vet stepped in to help.

Elizabeth Leppek

They did a great job taking care of my fur baby, kept a great line of communication since she had to be there for 2 days. The only improvement I would suggest is that the staff be just a little bit better with the humans, as they are wonderful with the animals.

Teresa Berkheiser

Can't thank them enough for helping the dog who was neutered and was suffering terribly. Thank you so, so much. Great staff, wonderful caring Vet to.

Heather Reiff

The Dr and staff were here empathetic with us and took great care of our fur baby Suzie.

Kris B.

We've visited NIVES with multiple dogs over the last 15 years, mainly for off-hours emergencies, but also for specialized surgeries and for euthanasia. It is not cheap, but they are very good. If it is an extreme emergency or you would like help deciding if immediate help is necessary, call ahead. Support staff is sympathetic and knowledgeable. They can also give you information about cost. The building has a double door system to prevent escapes. The lobby has a couple low-gated areas with chairs that are slightly more private or allow you to corral your pet or children. These are also good areas to sit with your cat in a carrier to keep them further away from dogs and noise. The restroom is clean and well-stocked. Wait times in the lobby have never been bad but be prepared for a longer time in the exam room as they may need to prioritize another patient or wait for some meds to take effect. In the past there have been some vets who weren't great with people, but in recent years doctors have been professional. We've had laryngeal tie back and two cruciate ligament surgeries here several years ago. I had more confidence in the surgeon here than the Purdue vet school. NIVES has a special room for euthanasia with a couch so you can cuddle with or hold your pet. They won't hurry you or the process. Individual cremation is expensive though NIVES, but there is a more affordable group cremation option. If you can afford it, this is the only emergency vet practice in Northern Indiana that I would recommend.

Becky Bredemeyer

Good place to go for after hours.

Jason Shoemaker

This place is where you want your last chance with your animal, caring, devotion , compassion, and that's just the women at the front desk,..they truly are a top notch facility, they even take blood donation for other animals in need, the tplo operation is truly phenomenal, can't say enough good things about them.. Angel's on earth.you won't find any better in Midwest.

Emery Merriman

They charge you like 10x what a normal vet would, because they can, being the only "emergency" clinic in town... which wouldn't be so bad if they bothered with customer service. I didn't receive a single phone call/update in 2 days, despite being promised regular updates. I had to call them myself every single time.

Tesha Pettit

Great staff! Explained everything before the surgery my little guy had to have for a broken ankle. Helped us with financing options. Glad they were available 24 hours.

Megan Poeppel

I had to come here when my cat broke its leg. They were able to get her in get her ex raid and pain medication in her fairly quickly. And were able to give me options on what I should do with her in order to fix the situation. They emailed all of my cat's information to my primary veterinarian. They're very caring and compassionate. This is the second time I've used them for an emergency. I would go to them again for sure.

Dylan Fivecoate

Very nice building, extremely knowledgeable staff, patient and understanding. I hope I never have to take my dog back but if I do I know she will be in good hands.

George Wierzbicki

My dog went in half dead from another dog attacking him, they went straight to work and fixed him right up and the price wasn't insane. These people actually care rather then overcharge you because you're in a vulnerable spot.

Christy Swope

they are a awesome place that loves all animals. they have many specialists to help with your animals needs and the all work so well together as a team. they keep you informed all the time, great about visitation. my little mama Mia was having a real hard time breathing we took her there immediately and they started working on her right away. they saved her life. then they found another serious thing wrong that we did not know was so serious and they fixed that. I will always take my pets there especially serious medical issues.

Ashley Cornewell

Absolutely wonderful! The staff was so amazing, and our Veterinarian Dr. Kim Smith was the BEST vet we have ever taken our animals to. They were extremely quick to get us in, and took the time to make sure we fully understood everything. I wish Dr. Smith was also a primary care Vet as well, because we would love to see her for our basic visits, not just emergency. Wonderful place.

Bella Ratliff

Do not take your pets here! Our less than year old puppy was hit by a car and before they would even see her we had to pay a "fee" of 300-ish dollars. then after they checked her out and said she had 2 broken legs they said it would be 6,000$ to fix them both they offered us a "care credit" which was basically impossible to get. Then while we were trying to figure out what to do they then told us that we'd have to pay the surgeons as well and it would roughly be 10,000$. We ended up having to euthanize. Do not go here!! Drive to a different state if you have to.

stacey ferguson

The staff was very compassionate and understanding in an extremely upsetting and difficult situation. Very glad I ended up coming here.

Todd Helgeson

Thursday May 23, 2019... I come home to a dog laying at the bottom of the stairs with no leg movements. I took him in to be seen here. $145tp wall in the door! First the technician check him in and left the room, soon after leaving the room she returned and told us the Doctor wanted to do a exam with him and they were going to take him to another room. Maybe 5 minutes later she was back and soon after the doctor showed up for the first time. She was a young female that would not look at you when she talked....as she explain to us what she felt was going on she gave us three options 1. $6000.00 Exploratory surgery 2.med’s 3 put him to sleep. They keep on pushing on the doing the surgery. They would not do any X-rays, ct scan or MRI unless we OK’d the surgery and told us there really wasn’t a good path for drugs or PT. I got hold of our small farm Doctor ( Sylvan Lake Vet clinic Rome city, IN) she told me to bring him to her that night ASAP. One week later... some steroids and acupuncture he has done a full recovery. Amazing all they want is your money at the Northeastern Indiana emergency vet hospital. I will never return there and I hope you think twice about too.

Samantha Love

All of the techs were very friendly and helpful. I had a 9 month old pregnat Husky that was getting close to two hours in between pups so I took her in.they got her into a room quickly and made her comfortable on the floor with towels and blankets. They showed me how to help her after delivering each pup and explained what to do. They checked on her every so often to make sure she was doing well. Very excellent hospital.

Michelle Minick

They have a cardiologist on staff. This wonderful woman diagnosed and treated our Baby G for CHF. She was very communicative and considerate. 2 weeks later our shih tzu had his eye pop out. We rushed him to the hospital. A girlfriend called ahead and let them know we were coming. They were waiting for us! They took him in immediately and have done a wonderful job taking care of him and answering all of my questions.

Alex Briggs

Went in because our senior cockapoo was feeling sick. From the receptionist to the vet himself, all of the staff was EXTREMELY helpful and unbelievably nice to my SO and myself (which couldn't have been easy, we were both pretty hysterical at that point). Our Gunnar got the medication he needed (for a relatively fair price, considering it's an emergency clinic) and is back to his old self. I will always recommend this place to anyone who needs emergency care for their four-legged loved ones.

Stargazer39

I'm grateful this place is open 24 hours for our pet emergencies. I've had a few emergencies with my cat. They were very accommodating since I didn't have any cash on hand and knew they would get paid on Monday when my trustee opened. I understood why they needed payment up front and the reason for the cost being so high. They are an emergency hospital afterall. On my last visit, they weren't able to find the issue with my cat's eyes, but assumed it was something bacterial. I took her to her regular vet the next day. He looked at the price NIVES charged me and the tests they order, and balked at it. I insisted on ordering a cbc/chem panel done for her and they were upfront about every cost. Needless to say, my cat didn't get any better, so my regular vet took her off the medicine they gave her at NIVES, gave her a shot of steroids, and a day later her eyes opened up and she started to feel better. He explained it was possibly allergies the way she was reacting and presenting symptoms. NIVES did call and follow up with me on to see how she was feeling. I would recommend NIVES because there was a time they saved my cat from a blocked urethra, which could have killed her. Versus New Haven Pet Hospital who we visited earlier that day and had to send her home since they are not a 24 hour facility. My cat got worse and I called NIVES to let them know we were coming and we rushed over there around 11 p.m. She had to spend 4 days in hospital and they gave her excellent care. They even let me visit her during those long 4 days. It baffled the vets there as to why she had a blocked urethra since most female cats don't usually have that issue. But regardless she got better, we put her on prescription food for her bladder, and we have had no issues since. It may be unnerving to pay so much for veterinary care, but they are our beloved pets and they need us to help them no matter what the cost, because we took on the responsibility of caring for them. But if you can wait to get into seeing your regular vet or if you are able to contact them after hours, like mine, to get an opinion, I would recommend that first.

Beyond fantastic!!! I just moved to Fort Wayne around a week ago from South Florida and still have no idea where things are or even how to deal with the winter what so ever! I accidentally left a pot on the stove with water boiling in it as a humidifier cause I do not have one yet, and I forgot about it and let it dry and burn. My parakeet, named Lemon, was in the same room with it and I feared that she was exposed to the fumes from the pan (burnt teflon (PTFE) fumes are poisonous to birds). I have heard horror stories of people accidentally killing their birds by forgetting a pan on the stove, and I feared the worst. I know she is only a parakeet, but my Lemon is special and I love her dearly. I called the emergency hospital and they were very calm and kind with me and I headed over with my little Lemon immediately. I got there and they put us in a room immediately and took Lemon to the back. We had multiple student/techs helping us, along with the doctor, all of which seemed VERY knowledgeable, even with parakeets. In the end, my little Lemon was fine and did not need any treatment, but they were very prepared with their knowledge, equipment, and facilities to help her if she started showing signs of distress. It is hard to find vets that will see birds, regardless of having the proper knowledge and facilities to treat them. The entire time, they were very kind, explained everything very well, welcomed any and all of my questions, and truly cared about Lemon. Honestly, I am so thankful for them and can not begin to thank them enough. They were knowledgeable and quick to act when timing could have made a huge difference if Lemon started going down hill. Thank you so much guys!! You are doing an amazing job and I hope you know it!!! You are making a difference!!

Regina Opdycke

This vet hospital is hands down AMAZING!! The veterinarians along with staff was so awesome when dealing with our dog after he was hit by a car. Our dog had intensive head trauma. They took him in and put together a treatment plan. They were very caring and passionate. They worked with us on the financial aspect. They were honest with us!

Anita Bruner

They took great care of our dog!

Michael Smith-Gonzalez

Friendly, fast and expertise in caring for animals.

Edna Ruscigno

All the staff were very kind and understanding at a very hard time.

Dixie Taylor

When our Puppy was very sick and our regular vet was out of the office, they got us right in and got him treated, and he is doing great now..They also faced over all treatment they did to our regular vet...Will definitely go back here, if we have to again!!! The Doctor and Staff were Great!!!

Steve Hampel

Wonderful staff.

John Purcell

Pet taken in. Diagnosis was for something totally unrelated and not urgent - 4 1/2 hours and $600. The next day, a local veterinary clinic diagnosed issue and took care of it with minor surgery. Second opinion for original diagnosis not supported - 2 hours and $217. Very dissatisfied with money and time wasted.

Carmen Harrison

Very compassionate place. Ty

Amy Whitlow

Would like to see more genuine care from the staff rather than it's obvious you're there for the paycheck.

Dave Thitoff

This place is Awsome! Very happy with all the nurses doctor's and receptionist. They took such great care of our little girl Evie with her surgery and recovery. I would recommend them to everyone!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!!!!

Terry Bork

Our cat, Speckles, couldn't hold his head up and was acting like he had a stroke. We rushed him to the Emergency Veterinarian Clinic. They took him right in and ran tests. They kept him over night to tried several different meds and he began getting better. They let me come in and spend as much time as I wanted. After three days, i took his cone off and he finally ate a little so Dr. Kitson let us take him home the next day. Everyone there was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and caring. I was especially amazed of the knowledge Dr. Kitson had. She is truly a cat whisperer. We would have never been able to bring Speckles home again without them. I want to thank each and everyone of them because when we took Speckles there, i never though he woud ever come home again. Now I have my buddy back home. Big Thanks to everyone.

Michael Lewis

Quickly handled our emergency with our puppy who had swallowed something he shouldn't have!

PIERRE HICKS

Expensive but worth it if you have an emergency your pets are your babies and kids

Tamara Mathers

The Best place to take your beloved pet for any emergency situation, since your vets gonna charge you for the emergency anyways, the Team their Resources and your options available here are a cut above the rest. I'll never take my pets anywhere else.

Nikki Beougher

they are all very nice and understanding. surgeon did a great job and the rehab people were wonderful

Edward Salinas

I took my beloved dog to this hospital after he was hit by a car. The staff was professional and upfront. They gave me options, and were honest with me. My dog was seriously injured in the accident, so my concern was to make sure he was in NO pain or as little pain as possible. Once the doc was able to give me his honest opinion, the best course of action was to put him to sleep. It broke my heart, but it was in the best interest of the animal. Once this was decided, the doc was remarkably compassionate to me, and my dog. They allowed me to be with my dog when he passed on and gave me as much time as I needed with him. As others have noted, they are not cheap, but they were not hiding anything either. Every action that was performed was provided to me ahead of time with the cost associated with it. I want to thank the team for their help in easing my friend's pain and suffering.

Lisa Robertson

They helped our little Spudsy dog heal after being hit by a car! They gave him the best care that we could hope for! Luckily he has healed very well and didn't need surgery! Thank you so very much for taking care of our little Spudsy!

Bailey Joseph

Best after hours dog care

Andy Kreul

I cannot say enough about this place. We had planned to put our dog down on the Tuesday after Labor Day. Suddenly, she began to have seizures on Labor Day, and this facility was the only place we could find that was open. Not only were they open, but they were magnificent. From the gentleman at the front desk, to the vet, to the assistants. They treated my family wonderfully through an extremely difficult situation and day. Thank you folks so much for being there, caring like you did, and letting us spend Willow's last few moments with her. I will never forget it.

Tonya Floyd

Dr Dziak is wonderful!

Jennifer Wedekind

Staff are very nice to you and really good with your pets

Jackie Asher

Service for my Yorkie qas awesome

Nicholas

Unfortunately my dog need to come here, we were taken care of immediately not a bad experience.

Angie Swan

The care my dog received here was exceptional. The fact that it is a 24/7 facility is amazing. I was able to call for updates on my dog's condition whenever I wanted and the staff was always very courteous and never acted put out. The staff is very compassionate. Even though my baby didn't pull through, it was not due to lack of care. I would absolutely recommend to anyone needing emergency services.

Nic Gentner

Helped out alot, satisfied with this business

sue zent

Very caring

Richard Pettyjohn

I recently had my pet here. This will be the second time she was here. 6 years ago was first. Let me start by addressing the 1-2 star ratings. Seems to be from the cost more than anything. They do care about your animal, they don't make you wait hours if it's a serious situation. Yes, they are expensive. This is an emergency hospital. Key word EMERGENCY. If it's a life threatening situation, this is where to go. Especially if after hours. First time my cat came here was 2:00 am on Thanksgiving. Not many options. If not life threatening, take to a regular veterinary. This is a hospital. There are some veterinary clinics that can do most critical care too. Just find one that can keep animals overnight. Some don't. Overall, I am very happy with my service here on multiple occasions over the last 7 years. One of my other cats came here when he lost his eye. Sure I wish it was less costly. This is the only 24-7 pet hospital around here. My animals will never be euthanized due to costs. I've brought my pets here on 6 occasions and am very satisfied.

Roy Kunce

My dog max had his stomach turn upside down almost lost him. This team saved my boy and he is doing well. Thank you

Dakota Keefe

They get one star on the fact that they were polite, other then that, they DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE ANIMALS. They only care about the money, first thing they tell you before they even tell you what there going to do is, tell you how much it's going to COST! AND IF YOU CANT AFFORD THAT THEN THEY WONT HELP. I am a loving individual of my pet and he was just attacked by another dog and they won't even help him because I can't afford the 800 to simply put a few stitches in,. The vet didn't even look under the wrap to see if it needed stitches. They just wanted me to pay for something with out knowing what's going on!

Claire Yancy

Our cat had started showing signs of possible bladder stones and, with it being Sunday afternoon, we called ahead and were provided with all of the information we needed, including any up front costs, which was appreciated. When we arrived we were taken to a room right away to fill out paperwork and have the vet tech take our cat's vitals. He was in a lot of pain and they were very gentle with him. A few moments later the vet came in to complete his exam and gave us several options right away, from best case to worst case scenario. We were there for nearly five hours, from check in to discharge, and the vet regularly came to provide us with updates regarding the procedure and let us know our cat was doing well. He explained everything very clearly and was so kind. We would highly recommend using Northeast Indiana for any emergency needs. They are very welcoming and willing to work with your primary care vet to keep expenses down for you. What a wonderful experience!!

Dan LaRowe

Best staff ever they got my dog right in when he coudn't walk we are so thankful for them best staff EVER. They were so concerned at rushed us in a room ASAP such love and care their and for after hours the prices are so NOT high and it was totally worth it for my fur babie. TOTALLY recomended.

Chris Hoppas

Staff was very kind and helpful when we took our sick kitty in. They diagnosed our kittie's illness after our vet failed to find the problem. Unfortunately, our kitty had cancer, they offered options to extend his time with us and offered great comfort when it was time to say goodbye to our kitty.

Karen Frantz

Great vets. Good prices and very caring. Good communication also.

Christine Gamble

They saved my girls. This place has specialty vet physicians and staff. They will help work with you on finances. We have been here for two emergencys and two orthopedic issues. They are caring towards your fur baby and you. I hope we never need them again but relieved to know they are there if needed.

Alicia Furnivall

I've never been so disgusted with a vet ." Dr.lea" was a terrible money hungry disrespectful sorry excuse for a vet she does not care about your pet she only cares about the checkbook we will never take our babies back there and I will tell everyone I talk to about her if you love your pet stay away from that place!!!

Kelly Vargas

I've had to go to this hospital a few times in the past, and again last evening. My experience was nothing short of COLD. My dog has been attacked, and I needed to make sure she didn't need stitches, or have anything to life threatening. The doctor was pleasant enough and showed concern, that I paid for, but the tech was absolutely rude! Their paperwork says they'll go over options if you cannot afford the price. LIE. S The heartless tech cale in the room with a $1200 quote, which included a sedative I gave my dog at home. The charge was $82. BUT the doc had said they wanted to keep my dog for obs of a head injury because her pupils were unequal... and they couldn't give her anything because of the possibility of the head injury... so why would they charge me for giving her one? She's 13 and I never said anything invasive was an option. They wanted to do pressure tests on her eyes, and give her antibiotocs... so I said I didn't want the eye tests, the tech said it was only $200 more (what I wasn't willing to do came to $360, not $200), so I said ONLY? then you can pay for it. She said the tests would tell them if there's infection in the eye... well, they were already planning to charge me for antibiotics, so...? Everything was about how much money they could get out of me in a crisis! Very contradictory! I'm a nurse, and my dog has cataracts and I had a pen light, and they were NOT unequal! I said no, I'll just take my dog to my vet. They brought me my dog and didn't even offer to hold the door for me! This place is pathetic! If I ever need an emergency vet, I'll drive anywhere else, and I would suggest the same to anyone that loves their pets!

Rough examining my pet, did not know how to take rectal temperature properly (very painful to my pet, never had this happen anywhere else), prescribed the WRONG amount of medication (vet wrote 25mg and we were given 50mg, even the typed visit notes had wrong dosage. Our personal vet said the wrong dosage would have sedated my pet, possiblity causing harm or worse. Also waited over an hour in the exam room.

James Bergdoll

It's a little expensive here but they do take very good care of your pets

Angel Moore

My dog was hit by a car and I could not get any veterinarians in our area to see her. I am grateful to have found this hospital. The staff is so nice and seems to care about animals. BUT...The bill was at least $600.00 more than I was quoted ($600.00 more than the HIGH-end quote I was given.) I did not appreciate that. Also, the person who spoke with us about what treatment would be done (not sure of her title) was not compassionate at all -- didn't even pretend to be. Other than that, if your pet needs help they can get it here, just know it's going to REALLY cost you.

Jonathan Rose

If you have to bring your fur baby to an ER or specialist this is the place to bring them

Debbie F

Very good "service." Staff very friendly, caring & sensitive.

Kenny Ashcraft

They greeted my family and got us in a room ASAP. We did have a longer than normal wait time but I'm sure it had something to do with my pets severity of issues. The staff had front loaded a few pets that were in need of assistance. The techs did a great job of briefing the vet as he knew what the issue was as soon as he saw us. This vet hospital is a bit pricey but it is well worth the price.

kdvehdv

Staff is great. They took wonderful care of our baby. My only complaint is that they are really expensive.

Gary Arnett

I don't know these people but I LOVE THEM ALL. Had to put my dog down after 13 years and they where awesome with everything for my family's lost. Thank you.

Don Detweiler

Yup, the prices are high! Yup, they want payment in full! Yup, some of the staff are loving and compassionate and some are more clinical. They offer top quality emergency and surgical care with an expertise that you can't find anywhere else in the area! 24 hours a day! In a bright clean facility. If your pet needs help .... THIS IS THE PLACE TO TAKE THEM!

Alexandra Gump

All staff was kind and compassionate. My dog is very shy and nervous around new people, but the nurse and doctor were patient and gentle with her and made sure she was comfortable. Everyone also made sure to explain everything that was happening and what choices we had. Great staff and animal hospital.

Tamra Haman

Our Jasmyn was in very bad shape when we got her to the ER, it was touch and go for awhile and she spent the better part of 2 weeks in the hospital. The doctors and staff were wonderful to Jasmyn and is. Generous with their time when it came to our questions and concerns. They saved Jasmyns life and we will forever be thankful to everyone there.

Dee Sipe

From the front desk to the nurses and doctors this is an awesome place. Sad we had to take our baby here, but so glad it was available.

nancy rudek

Brought my dog in for a swollen neck. Without any testing they told me it was probably cancer. Took her to my vet the next day and it was just an infection. The stress this place caused was horrific and heart breaking. They shouldn't be diagnosing without testing first. The only good thing about this place is that it's 24/7.

Nathan Temple

The staff was very caring in our time of sorrow.

Summer Bower & Kids

If I could give no stars I would. This so called Vet Hospital is a joke. They do not care about the animals at all, just the money they get/want. Not only do they charge double what a normal vet does but if you don’t have the money in hand they won’t do anything to help at all. Instead they let your animal suffer until you either put it down, get the money or leave. My dog was hit by a truck and instead of doing anything for her they kept telling us in front of our children that the vet won’t do anything for her until we can prove we have the funds in hands. We had $200 with us and that was not enough for them to even attempt to lift a finger. After 5 hours of waiting my husband grabbed our dog and we walked out and said thanks for nothing. Took her the next morning to our vet who did X-rays and fixed her hip that was broken and everything for $150. If you care about your animals do not take them to this place, cause they do not care about the animals just the money.

Jeff Troutman

Not impressed at all with the emergency staff. My son's assistance dog and son were attacked by a pity bull . my son has epilepsy and needs this dog. We took her in due to the wounds recieved from the attack. They changed us a lot just to clean the wounds and said she will be fine. Now she is having emergency surgery to remove the muscle that was torn off and left hanging by the staff. 3 days have passed , and our regular vet is performing the surgery. Why didn't this place catch this? Not impressed at all. The attack happened Sunday the 14th of July around 6 pm.Now it's Wednesday the 17th.

Mike Keesler

Wonderful experience

Crystal Drake

Caring staff. Knowledgeable doctors. Can even take care of your rats. ❤️

Marissa Manzo

Such wonderful helpful staff! They saved our puppy when he got into meds. Poison Control made it sound like a lost cause, but our boy is home and causing mayhem once again! Don't worry, the meds are in a lock box now!

Tina Adkins

Great staff will always take my dogs there

Rhonda Kidd

Very freindly and careing about your furbabys

Kim Dahlberg

We brought Dusty, our dog, in for liver failure. The staff did everything they could for him, but Dusty was suffering and not improving. It was a very tough decision to let Dusty go, but now he is in a better place. The staff comforted us and allowed us to stay with Dusty as long as we needed. Everyone (the vets, nurses, and front desk personnel) were very friendly and caring. A week later, we received a card for the staff. There was personal messages in the card from the staff. Also, there were 4 footprints of Dusty. This was very unexpected and comforting. Thank you for all you did and your caring during this difficult time.

Danielle Savarese

Three stars for being open 24/7. The wait times? Zero. I'm currently sitting here with my pet who is swollen and has hives all over his body for the past hour waiting for someone to come give him a shot so he can feel better. 140$ for his heart rate and temperature to be taken? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

Sharonda Taylor

They took great care of my girl cat!

Nick Lewis

A very good place for emergency times

Brooke Dailey

They are compassionate with us & our pet. They explain what our options are. Dr. Jason Matthew is the best I've had while there for an emergency.

Bill Hill

As soon as they find out you don't have $1700.00 to pay for a reaction from flee treatment . They charge me $200.00 and tell me my cat is going to die. No suggestions on how I can help her just pay us and go. How can they justify $1700.00 for giving her medicine. No surgery just medicine. I will never go back there. And make sure I tell everyone with a pet about my experience.

Angel P

Helpful, compassionate and truthful. Everything you need in a crisis.

pat gleason

Open 24 hrs for our fur babies

Ranae Boocher

The entire staff was amazing and Dr. Coolman was incredible! He was genuine and kind and truly cared for my dog. She, despite her high vet anxiety, went up to him and let him do a physical exam on her. He was extremely knowledgeable, even before the xray, as to what could be wrong with her. He had ideas just by listening to me. He listened to me and took what I had to say to heart and took my word for what it was. He explained the issue very well and laid out all our options. It's pricey, as is any medical care, but great quality.

Ashli White

Came here twice with my dog, she was running a fever and both times they never gave her anything for it. Spent over 1500 hundred dollars.. Had to go to my vet back home, finally my vet gave her something for the fever..Wouldn't had to come back here for the second time if this place had the best Interests for my dog..This place just likes to take your money..So if you like spending money this is the place to go. Not happy with this place and wouldn't recommend this place.

Brian B

Was here to have the remains of my 15 year old dog cremated. The staff was very empathetic and respectful of my grief. The offered me two different packages for cremation, both of which were excellent values. They explained what both packages contained and let me decide without pressure or manipulation to choose one over the other. Would highly recommend their services to anyone dealing with the loss of a beloved pet.

Danielle Daugherty

Helped me save my 2 of my 4.0z+ lab puppies. Would have given 5 stars, just not fond of the pricing. Super helpful staff !

Brittany Clay

The staff here was so compassionate and helpful, we had to put our cat to sleep and they were incredibly patient and clear with us about the whole process. Very thankful that they let us spend as much time as we could with our sweet kitty. I picked up his ashes today and they included a paw impression and an ornate box, couldn't have asked for a better experience considering the situation.

Jenn Brando

Dr's here are a poor excuse for human beings. If you went to school to be a vet because you love animals so much, how can you not treat a dog that is crapping blood. My grand dog could die tonight cause of you neglect practice, your a much of money hungry people. Very sad!! #staystrongAnna

Doreen Perkins

Very great staff and the BEST place to bring your pet. Extremely caring staff and the best of doctors

Beth C

ABOITE ANIMAL CLINIC HAS EMERGENCY HOURS 6-10PM WEEKDAYS AND 12-10PM WEEKENDS! Emergency fee after hours is 80$ for an exam (this does not include diagnostic testing or treatment), but so much cheaper than a visit at NIVES if money is an issue. However NIVES is an exceptional facility for true emergency matters as well and the doctors know what they are doing and are well trained. After all it is an emergency hospital and cost is going to be expected to be high.

Braden Isch

Very professional but busy

Our dog had a sudden onset of extreme lethargy, so we took him to NIVE because they were the only available emergency vet care open at 9:30 p.m. on 12/11/18. When we arrived, we were immediately ushered into an exam room, where we then waited 45 minutes until someone came in to get the situation and, most importantly, it seems, tell us the cost up front if we wanted care, payable immediately. We agreed to the $145 examination fee, of course, and then waited another half an hour before another aid came in to tell us the doctor would soon see us. All of this waiting gave me time enough to count the 31 veterinarian diplomas on the wall and wonder which one of them had drawn the short straw for the evening. When the doctor finally arrived, she had nothing for us after a cursory examination ($145 worth), so, naturally there had to be tests run and x-rays taken. (We told them that our regular vet had done blood and urine tests the week before and found nothing, but the information contained therein did not seem to interest her. She did not ask for the vet's name.) She left the room, and another aid came in to give us the cost of the tests - $840. Payable immediately, of course. Naturally, we agreed; we wanted our beloved dog cured. An hour and a half later, the doctor tells us, as she reviews x-rays and data from the tests, that she has NO EARTHLY IDEA what's wrong with our dog. It's something serious, she says, but she and her colleagues cannot figure it out. She suggests that they keep our dog overnight for observation. How much would that be? She leaves to find out. Another aid comes in with the good news that it would cost $2,500 for an overnight stay, so they could keep the dog hydrated and check on him every hour. We balked at this and left with our dog, who will need to be put down today without our knowing what it is that's killing him because we cannot afford to pay someone else to tell us they don't know either. Unbelievable. 31 vets. So many expert's mouths to feed...The total bill was $933, and we left with nothing. It's 3:07 p.m. the next day as I write this, and there's been no follow-up call from them...

Bryan LaFree

I do not doubt the experience or the caring of the staff. I do have a concern about the end goal of the owners of this animal hospital. In short . The story. My daughters dog admitted and out looks grime. 1700 dollar bill already spent. Next day she is going down what I assumed was the last good buys. A day later found out her pet was not put out of suffering but was now going to require a 6000 dollar plus operation. Not to mention the bill was now at 7000 dollars plus 6000 + for a operation. 13000 thousand plus to keep trying. I’ll stop there. Compassion is gone and greed is the guide. The pain we have and are going through. Shame on you..

Briana Jones

My cat ate some rat poison and the regular vet recommended we take her here. When we arrived, they got us into a room and we were talking to a vet after only a few minutes. The vet was caring and answered all of our questions. While the visit was expensive (to be expected from an emergency center) I feel like the care they offered was worth it. And my cat is all better now.

Rob

......Great staff and veterinarians, they were very caring and kind, and I am happy they are here 24/7, and I thought they were very well priced.

bethany

Thankful for this place! Always great care given to my dogs.

Keri Davison

I felt like a business transaction, not a distressed pet owner in need of help. I took my 6 mo old kitten who couldn't breathe in about 9:30 on a Saturday night. The young girl who was helping me tells me at the counter in the lobby that my kitten is dying and they need to know now if she goes into cardiac arrest should they perform life saving means to help her, if so I need to give them at least $130 now. It took another lady to say to her, "Take her into a room to talk to her". I ended up having to put my kitten down. I have owned animals my whole life, I have had to make the decision to euthanize many times, but I have always felt compassion from medical staff when going through it. I did not feel that when having to have my kitten put down. My whole experience that night was extremely rough in every way

We needed to take our dog to the hospital on Sunday. The staff was very nice. I don't remember the name of the veterinary that treated our sweet little girl but she was professional, caring and very informative about her condition. We did have to put our dog down but I really appreciated the vets support and care during the process

David Penn

Friendly people, but felt like we were preasured to admit over home treatment. We did not admit and cat is fine.

Sharon Munro

Such friendly staff and compassionate Doctors.

Mark Liechty

Staff here is fantastic. Top notch service, courtesy, and respect. Pricey, but totally worth it if you have the means. 24-hour service is a life saver. Literally. Thank you guys for all you do!

Eric S

Very caring and courteous staff.

April Casiano

The doctor was amazing. Prices are crazy and you have to pay all at once. Didn't get any real answers of what was really happeningwith our cat but for more money we could do a bunch of test

liz troxell

Took my 7 month old pitbull in because she was throwing up and I couldn’t get her to eat or drink. After several xrays she was diagnosed with gastrointestious. After hours of calling trying to get updates on how she was doing and basically yelling at people just to find out how she was doing. I was told she was fine and ready to go home a little under 24 hours. Needless to say she was not any better and I had to take her to our normal vet who cares about their patients and pet owners she had to have emergency surgery because 2 places in her intestines were bulging. She had eaten a piece of rubber and had a blockage causing her to vomit. So not only did I waste over 1000 dollars at this horrrifcly sorry of an excuse of a vet I now have another vet bill over 1000! At least she is finally on the mend and in the care of people who care about her. Unless your pet has been hit by a car I would wait for a regular vet. They only care about money and certainly not the animals or owners.

robert Clausen

Very nice employees that are their to help your furry friend.

Ridge Morrison

Had an emergency PU. Got set up with care credit. Helped financially. Amazing staff!!!

Danielle Daugherty

Rebecca Vance

Wonderful staff who helped us thru our crisis of losing a part of our family. Very caring and helpful, gave us the time we needed. Would highly recommend this facility if you are unable to get in to your normal vet.

Mark Ryan

Great staff, wonderful service. Highly recommend these folks.

John Clore

Great but sad experience. They were so nice when we had to put our doggie down. That's why I said great but sad. They were so nice and sweet and helped make a tough time easier for us.

I RARELY rate anything a five. Cannot say enough good about NIVES. My much beloved and adored giant, sweet, fluffy Great Pyrenees Gracie needed knee surgery of a type not provided by our vet in South Bend. He recommended NIVES in Fort Wayne. I took Gracie there for an exam and x-rays prior to surgery - and for me to evaluate their facility. I love my Gracie second only to my wife and children and was very anxious about who I would let operate on Daddy's Big Baby. As soon as I walked in to their clean, brightly lit, spacious lobby/waiting area, I was greeted by a warm, smiling staff member. Another thing that I noticed immediately was the odor. There wasn't one. It smelled clean and fresh - better than some restaurants I have been to. Without exception, the staff were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and smiling - and you cannot fake a good attitude. Gracie had her surgery there a few weeks later and then returned for a post operative exam six weeks after that. Dr. Coolman performed the exam, surgery and follow up exam. He provided me with a level of comfort that went a long way towards alleviating my anxiety. He spent as much time with me as I needed and was very patient and thorough in his explanations and instructions. I cannot say enough good about NIVES! :-). Thank you for fixing my giant baby!

Rachel Bailey

Good people. I unfortunately have only visited twice. Once because my big boy had died in the middle of the night because his stomach flipped and the 2nd time because my baby boy wasn't breathing well and he ended having cancer and had to be put down. Sad everytime I go but, they've always been really wonderful to me.

Dane Brummett

Really great experience. Dr. Coolman was fantastic.

Autumn Gatchell

Great experience. Knowledgeable staff. Morgan Garza was a great help; you can tell she has a passion for what she does and a love for animals.

Collin Murray

The staff was amazing. Compassionate, but also consise. Everyone's knew what they were doing. I will recommend anyone to go here.

Jeff York

Very kind to me in my time of grief went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and had time with my little pepper before she was laid to rest they're way too expensive but they're really kind people I'm very caring about you and your pet

Denise F

The rage in me is building. I can not tell you how much distain I have for Northeast Indiana Veterinary Clinic. I took my dog in there on the weekend because I accidentally hurt her leg. They sedated her and took her for X-rays only to give me a $2,600 (amputation) or $5,000 (repair) option to fix her leg. The bill for the visit was $568. I chose to follow up with our primary care and I’m glad I did. Peanut Butter doesn’t need her leg chopped off. It’s going to require 1 pin and it’s going to be $1,000. I understand northeast Indiana veterinary clinic is a buisness but that buisness shouldn’t be up-charging to the degree they do and they shouldn’t be fear bullying people into expensive services. I hate that they’re the only 24 hour clinic in Ft Wayne. I took my beloved, Baja, in over memorial weekend and they told me I had to do surgery (up to 5k) or put him down. I’m wondering if I would have waited with Baja if he would still be alive. People trust you with the care of their beloved animals and you’re killing our babies by making us chose between or families and our pets because of lies.

Nikki Red

I was there for a horrible reason but the staff was very comforting and let us spending as much time with our baby before we let her pass.

Bonnie Hunnaman

Very friendly courteous staff. Did a qonderful job on my little buddah's jaw surgery.

Mary Fox

They took care of my fur baby

Rachel Warner

My cat was horribly injured. I couldn’t stop crying when I arrived because of the severity of the wounds and they were all very caring. They were able to close his wounds in a timely manner and prescribed meds to send me home to keep him comfortable. I’m not gonna lie it cost me a pretty penny but I’m telling you it was worth every cent! I would recommend this place to everyone!

Mabel Johnson

This is the third time I have had need to use their doctors. The best experience for me and the absolute best experience for my dogs. They love to go there. How many people can say their dogs love their vet? I highly recommend them ♡

greencad1967

Very understanding and compassionate during very difficult time. Explained situation in layman terms which was very informative and helpful, in grieving process. Thank you

Dawn Pranger
