I was referred by my "primary care" vet for Feline Stomatitis consult with Dr. Juriga who specializes in animal denistry/surgery. I highly recommend this hospital and I was very pleased with everything. Dr. Juriga is friendly, knowledgeable and took a lot of time to explain and outline the condition and treatment of my cat's condition. My cat is having oral surgery and I know that we are in very good hands. I will look into other services they have to offer, even though I am very pleased with my current vet.

Doctors Juriga and Weaver, along with Verena and Jennifer and others there, have become like an extended family to us. Not only have they been there for us in good times with our fury 'kids', but they have also been there for us in the bad times, like when we lost our little girl. They have been so supportive and understanding. Dr. Juriga always takes the time to explain EVERYTHING and Dr. Weaver will spend as long as you need talking with you; even if it's on the phone at your home. Verena, Jennifer, Laura and others handle and treat our 'kids' like we do. And all of them are as much animal lovers as we are. They genuinely care. I can't imagine a vet hospital with more caring individuals as they have been with us. Beyond recommend!

Well we have had dogs in the past years and that has dwindle downed to 1 as of this past Saturday. All our animals have lived to 14 -17 yrs. So I can see we have been to a lot of Vets. Dr Juriga, Staff and facility are by far one of the best I have ever seen. Dr Juriga seen our Mr Moose a 14 yr old Weim after weeks at our current Vet in New Lenox area and the a Emergency vet in Downers Grove. Dr Juriga nailed the diagnoses first time and let me tell you he went above and beyond what was expected. It a very long ride to his office for us but I can assure you. We will not take any of our dogs to any other person. Thank you to Dr Juriga and his amazing Staff ...please never loose the amazing concern your facility shows your clients.

I don't know were to begin . From the moment I first made the call to river heights animal hospital I knew it was the right choice . The staff is extremely wonderful and caring. My dog needed surgery in the mouth and I was very nervous on we're to bring her to get the proper care . When I met Dr Steve Juriga I knew I was in good hands. We went to 3 diffrent vets getting opinions on our dog , and Dr Steve Juriga being the last . I wish I would of knew about him first because I would of went there to start with . We are very blessed we waited and found him . Not only did my dog get the surgery that she needed, but we received it by the BEST! This is the first animal hospital I have been to were you can truelly tell from the moment you walk in the doors that the entire staff treats your animal like it's their own. I highly recommend coming here if you want to find the most compassionate and knowledgeable facility. Not only did the staff check in on our little girl karma before and after surgery , but Dr Steve also did as well and that ment the world to us knowing our little girl was in good hands . Exams, health treatments, lab work, etc. are always explained in detail, and everyone takes their time to make sure I understand. The environment is geared towards pets and their owners. Truly a 10+ establishment.

I truly do not understand the negative reviews. We drove over an hour to see them about some dental issues with our 5 month old BoerBoel. Dr Juriga and Verena are awesome! They are about whats best for our beloved pets not whats in your wallet. How can you put a price tag on great care and service. Of course its going to cost money, you are there because something is wrong or for a check up. How is it any different than when we go to the doctor. I can't say enough about this office except I wish we lived closer I would go here for all my Pets needs. I would recomend this office to anyone!!! I am blessed (cursed?) with a neurotic dog who decided one day to chew through her metal crate bars. Needless to say, she required extensive dental repair involving some tooth extractions, plus root canals and caps on her 3 canine teeth. I went to River Heights Veterinary Hospital based on the recommendation of the veterinarian that I worked for at the time, and was very happy with the service that Dr. Juriga and his staff provided. Dr. Juriga spent a lot of time with me explaining my options and used a lot of visual aids to explain what he was going to do, which helped me tremendously. I still work in the veterinary field and I often use the knowledge he provided in explaining dental care to clients. My dog had her dental work done about 8-9 years ago and the work that Dr. Juriga did then has stood the test of time - despite my crazy dog's best efforts to destroy her teeth!!

I was referred to Dr. Juriga and River Heights Veterinary Hospital after the first dental cleaning for one of my dogs. I expected the cleaning to be routine, however I was told that my dog had a detengerous syst imbedded in her gum and needed surgery. Needless to say I was very anxious about the procedure. The drive to River Heights Veterinary Hospital is over an hour from my house. I was warmly greeted upon arrival and waited a short time to see Dr. Juriga. The facility is exceptionally clean and the staff is professional but compassionate toward both the pet and the owner. I was very pleased with my experience at their facility. The friendliness and efficiency of Dr. Juriga and his staff helped ease the anxiety for me, and I am sure for my dog too. Dr. Juriga educated me about the procedure, answered all my questions, and never rushed me through the consultation. Most of my fears lessened with the knowledge provided. The staff gave me a time frame for the procedure, which was accurate. When I arrived to pick up my dog, they brought her out to me and Dr. Juriga also came out to go over the procedure and after care. Bottom line should you need a facility that has a friendly, efficient and professional staff, and a doctor that is compassionate and knowledgeable, do not hesitate to visit the River Heights Veterinary Hospital.

Really like the clinic and staff...they always recognize me and my pets. Its super clean, and they have coffee/tea/water. Nice setup that separates out cats from dogs and large waiting room gives you space from other dogs that may be hyper or assertive. I use their boarding services too...they have loving dog walkers who really get to know your dog/cat or other pet. Have brought hamsters, guinea pigs, dogs, and rats in for visits. All the vets I've met are super nice too. Can't say enough.

We love Dr. Juriga!! He is so nice for one but mostly its because he really loves and cares for the animals. We have a beautiful blue heeler named ruby who unfortunately was born with a very bad top over bite or a very small under bite which ever. This would have been very painful for ruby as she grew. Dr. Juriga took the time to help us understand the important of having dental work done to ruby so she would and could live a good and healthy life. We worked together and she is now doing great!! We love the staff at the Hospital, they are all very helpful and nice. I have referred River Heights to many of my friends. We also get ruby groomed there, why go anywhere else. If it works, stick with it!!

Extremely overpriced and overrated. I took my dog in for an ear infection and the vet said she wanted us to come back 3 weeks later for a follow-up. Never in my 15 yrs of owning dogs have I ever been charged for a vet-requested follow-up visit. $80 later I walk out with the vet telling me 'everything looks good'. I would question the prices they charge since the office is much nicer than most homes in the Oswego area.

I am a veterinarian and I took my dog to Dr. Juriga for a root canal and crown. My dog had an unusual reaction to the anesthesia, and because they were properly monitoring him, they noticed the problem and corrected it quickly, and my dog made it through and is doing great. I shudder to think what could have happened if a different vet hospital didn't monitor him under anesthesia properly. I am so grateful for their excellent care for my dog, and being a veterinarian, I know how to judge a good hospital vs a bad hospital, and this is a GREAT hospital!

We love River Heights! We took our beloved, beautiful, 16 year-old cat, Andre to see Dr. Juriga in October 2014. After further examination and being misdiagnosed by another vet in July 2014, we learned Andre had oral cancer. We were given a prognosis of 1-4 months. Through advanced medical practices by River Heights, the extraordinary care of Dr. Juriga, and our own unconditional love, our precious kitty survived (and thrived) beyond 4 months! It wasn't until June 2015 that he lost his battle. We are saddened by our loss, but hope our experience can serve as a testimony to others that River Heights will love your pet and do everything possible for him/her to maintain an excellent quality of life. I opened his schedule for my dog Hank, described every step he was taking and was honest with his price. Was dog sitting for a friend when his dog came down with diarrhea and loss of appetite. I called the clinic when they opened and was seen by Dr. Mayer 90 min later. Caesar was diagnosed with a bacterial intestinal infection, was given treatment, antibiotics and great care. We took our toy poodle to River Heights as our poodle we adopted had extensive dental disease and needed many teeth removed. I was a nervous wreck for our 4.5 lb dog to have this type of surgery. However, from the moment we stepped in the door, everyone was caring and compassionate and put our mind at ease. I knew after meeting Dr. Juriga that our Toby would be in great hands. They gave us fantastic instructions for the night before as well as extensive post-surgical instructions and pain medicine. Our dog did extremely well and we consider the extensive surgery a huge success. To anyone who is scared or concerned about the procedure, this team is top notch and I recommend them without hesitation. Dr. Juriga gave me his cell phone in the event my dog had any issues with his recovery. I've never had a veterinary practice come anywhere close to the level of care we received at River Heights. We are extremely happy with all services performed and have a happy, poodle without dental disease :)

I had taken her to my vet in Yorkville and was unsatisfied with her care. A friend referred me to Dr. Pocius, and I am so grateful we found her. Though my sweet dog is gone, and we are heartbroken, Dr. Pocius was open and honest with me about her cancer and the options we had. My husband and I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Juriga and the entire River Heights' staff, as all of them were incredibly helpful, responsive, thorough, and professional. Especially given that my cat Jax developed a painful tooth infection just before the holidays, I was stunned at the incredibly high level of service I received. For instance, my regular vet (Dr. Fox in Skokie, who is also great) initially referred me to a few pet dental specialists who were unavailable on short notice and especially around the holidays. It was actually one of the vets whom Dr. Fox recommended that referred me to Dr. Juriga. However, our experience with Dr. Juriga and Dr. Juriga's follow-up with Dr. Fox was so phenomenal that Dr. Fox now refers directly to Dr. Juriga. Anyway, I called Dr. Juriga's office in tears, fearing that Jax's tooth infection was cancer. The receptionist was very kind and calming, and I felt reassured that Dr. Juriga would indeed call me back as soon as he was available, as the receptionist said he would (which he did only minutes later). Dr. Juriga shared that he would be in the office on a day he normally wasn't scheduled to be and therefore not only had availability but would see Jax the next day (Thursday). He, too, was worried about cancer, but explained all our options, did Jax's surgery that very next day, gave us a gift card to use at the local cafe (which was such a nice touch), and allowed us to watch the surgery. We could see what great care he and the attending nurse took with Jax. He also reassured us that we should be fine traveling by car with Jax for the holidays that weekend, that he would be in touch with us with biopsy results over the holiday, and followed up with an email to explain the surgery and after-care instructions. The receptionist even called the next day to check on Jax. The care that Dr. Juriga took with Jax was evident when, upon arriving home, a cat who had just had one-quarter of his teeth removed wanted nothing more than to eat. He never skipped a beat, and even well past when the pain medication surely wore off, Jax was begging for not just soft food but hard as well. He clearly felt immensely better immediately. We then proceeded home for the holidays, where we were finding Jax to be increasingly intolerant of his liquid medication. Dr. Juriga swung into action yet again, connecting with my vet in my hometown and prescribing the pill form of the medication. Keep in mind this is all over the holidays--Dr. Juriga's only comment about talking with my vet at home in Maryland was how incredibly nice the other vet was. We dodged a bullet in that Jax's infection turned out to be just that...an infection and not cancer. Dr. Juriga called us over the holidays to give us the good news (and also put up with a bunch of nervous calls from us to the effect of, "Has the biopsy come back yet?"). The surgery wasn't cheap, but it was a great deal as far as we were concerned given that a) we got an incredibly high level of service including Dr. Juriga interfacing with 2 other veterinarians and multiple appointments on short-notice over the holidays, b) vet services have been getting more expensive in the 11 years we've had Jax and c) the price of medical care for humans has soared, so why shouldn't it have increased for animals too? We felt the rate charged was incredibly fair, and Dr. Juriga even let us space out the payments, understanding that we didn't want to arrive home for the holidays on fumes. I'm sorry for this incredibly long post. However, I felt it necessary to go into depth to show on just how many levels Dr. Juriga and the entire River Heights Veterinary Hospital went above and beyond to take incredible care of us and our cat. It was well worth the 1-hour trip each way.

One time my dog got bit by another dog in the neighborhood and I called and they where able to get me in right away so she could get stitches. My dog has a sensitive stomach so they give here something before they give her the shots that way she does not get sick. I love knowing that they are there for my dog .

We are exceptionally pleased with the dental care received by our dachshund, Harmony. She needed a lot of teeth pulled, and the doctor explained the entire process very thoroughly so that we understood how important it was to take these teeth out. We were hesitant, but it worked out well. She can still eat just fine even without 12 teeth. I learned that dogs have 42 teeth and can eat without them. All of the workers at the hospital are caring and helpful. I highly recommend them.

River Heights has been our veterinary/vet hospital for many years. We have both cats and dogs, some are older and special needs. The staff at River Heights has always worked with us as a team to decide the best course of action while treating our pets. The doctors listen to our ideas and observations and take those things into account when creating a treatment plan for our pets. Over the years our pets have had knee replacement surgery, spays, neuters, dental work, and mammary tumors removed. (We adopt older special needs dogs, so they came to us with these issues already occurring). I have never felt pressured to have a procedure performed. The clinic also offers grooming, which we use as well. I highly recommend this clinic!!

We have been going to River Heights with our pets (cats and dogs) for over 10 years and in that time have seen most of the doctors working there. We especially want to thank Drs' Pocius, Weaver, and Mayer as they have always put our pets health first, even if that meant being a little late for the next appoint or in the case of Dr Mayer, staying late in the evening after just about everyone else went home or calling on a Sunday to follow-up about our sick pup. :) River Heights the practice is not the cheapest veterinary hospital in town but the excellent doctors and the very friendly staff in the front office make it our go to vet. Everyone at the practice is extremely caring, couteous and professional. Doctors and vet techs explain what they are doing and they return phone calls promptly. They obviously love what they do!

I am giving RHVH an "excellent" rating - and no, I'm not kin to anyone there or employed there! (I noticed that conjecture in some "poor" reviews, so I'm starting out with the record straight. :-) ) Our family owns a boston terrier that recently was having serious dental problems, and our local vet referred us to Dr. Juriga. I was hesitant to travel an hour to take our pet to a specialist; however, our vet highly insisted, and it was a good experience. The staff are professional and friendly; I was especially impressed at the diligence the two young ladies sweeping and mopping were in their work to keep the reception areas clean. Dr. Juriga took the time to explain to us what he suspected the problem was with our pet, using pictures and models for illustration. An estimate of the costs were given on a pre-printed fee schedule, which I was grateful to have with me when I left. I was glad the doctor was willing to discuss both the pet's health problem *and* the costs, rather than just dealing with our dog and then leaving the front staff to explain the bill. (Kudos to you, Dr. Juriga!) The dog had the procedure done, involving several more journeys back and forth for me. However, the staff seemed aware of my stress and travel, and each time greeted me and made me feel like they were concerned for both me and my pet. In a busy practice, they are to be commended for that personal attention to clients and patients. We plan to remain with our current local vet for routine visits for our boston; however, in situations beyond routine care, I would quickly return to RHVH for their services. If I lived closer and my vet was retired, then I would consider RHVH the perfect place to continue our pet's routine care. They are professional, compassionate, knowledgeable, and kind. Plus, the facility is clean and modern and very welcoming! I highly recommend them, and rate them "excellent."

Wow! Dr. Juriga is wonderful. There are area rugs in the exam rooms and he hopped down on the floor with our dog Dolly. He was very thorough and answered all our questions. The assistants were friendly and efficient. The facilities are extremely well designed and comfortable/homey. We went in with concerns of oral cancer and came out reassured.

We take both of our dogs here. They seem very competent in what they do, it's a nice/clean facility. They're patient with our nervous dog. However, they are a little pricey. The front desk staff is so friendly and helpful! We've boarded our nervous dog here before, and they were wonderful with her.

My 8 year old Labrador Retriever sustained a lateral luxation of his upper left canine in a dog fight. Finding a board certified veterinarian in dentistry to treat my dog's injury was somewhat frustrating, until I contacted River Heights Veterinary Hospital. The injury occurred on Nov. 10th and the earliest other doctors were able to see my dog was the end of November or early December. Dr. Juriga personally called me on Nov. 12th, the same day I contacted River Heights Veterinary Hospital, and scheduled treatment on Nov. 16th. I could not have found a better hospital to provide the root canal and stabilization necessary to save Rex's tooth. The professionalism and compassionate care of the staff and Dr. Stephen Juriga was outstanding.

This morning my wife found a pitbull puppy wandering the streets of Aurora. She took the puppy home, to spend the day with our dogs and her mom until one of us could get off work. After work, I took the puppy to River Heights Animal Care in Oswego, where I was helped immediately. They scanned the chip and retrieved all of her information. Needless to say the technician was a huge help in finding the puppy’s owner. THE DOG IS SAFELY HOME ONCE AGAIN!!! We take our dogs here for annual check-ups. They are a friendly & professional establishment. Any thing your pet needs, they will always try to find a way to help!

I have been a client of Dr. Juriga for several years. He has seen three of my dogs for a variety of dental issues. My first contact with him was after I had seen a dental specialist in my area for a complicated issue with a 5 month old puppy. After a totally disappointing consult with the other "specialist", I contacted River Heights VH and made the hour and a half drive to meet with Dr. Juriga. What a relief and a blessing!! Dr. Juriga addressed the issue head on and with forward thinking, and it was a success!! I trust him totally! Since then, he has seen two additional dogs, one being a puppy that fractured an adult canine, posing a problem that other vets would have potentially solved by pulling the tooth. Not Dr. Juriga! He spent a great deal of time (at the end of the day I might add) to save the young tooth, and at our 6 month revisit, everything looks great! Dr. Juriga is extremely knowledgable and spends the time to explain everything...He has always been willing to fit me in with my emergencies! He clearly loves what he's doing, and I can't imagine going anywhere else for my dog's dental needs. My encounters with the rest of the staff have been positive as well. They have always been welcoming and pleasant! Highly recommended !!

We have had all of our four dogs taken care of by River Heights, starting with Dr. Koch. They have always been caring and treated our dogs as family, which of course they are!! All the staff are so helpful and Jan does such an excellent job in grooming. Our cars are on automatic pilot to River Heights.

I've been going here since we moved here back in 2000 and the staff is always welcoming. The doctors are all great and are always concerned about my 2 dogs. They get great treatment here. How people can say they're all about the money is ridiculous, I've been to those places and it ISN'T here! They've never pushed to have unnecessary surgeries or procedures like some doctors I've seen. In fact, when my female had a test and they couldn't confirm the results of what she had they sent me to a specialist because they didn't want to take a chance on an unnecessary surgery. She ended up not needing one. I was so ecstatic to know she was fine. Payment plans are explained plainly on site and they will give an estimate before any service is done.

We switched to River Heights over 3 years ago based on the recommendation of our pet sitter and we couldn't be happier. Dr Juriga is so very knowledgable and warm and professional. He takes as much time as is needed with you and we never feel rushed. This attitude and standard of care that starts at the top is evident in everyone there, from the other wonderful doctors and technicians to the receptionists. We love everyone and just can't say enough good things about them. We have referred two other friends recently and they have been impressed as well. We wouldn't trust anyone else with our pets!!!

I went to this establishment for 2yrs. I had a sprain emergency and wanted to get my dog in real quick and they said "sorry, no openings" my old vet in Yorkville always made time for their clients. Also, terrible communication. I gave them my number and my sister's for secondary and somehow they mixed that up so my apt were being sent via text to the wrong person. Lastly, they shouldn't have technician that work there if they are afraid of dogs. I was interupted in the examination room bc someone thought they heard something thru the door and interrupted to make a ridiculous assumption. Needless to say, I was right about to let my dog go into surgery so, stupid comments weren't welcome. I left furious and crying to which the orginal technician tried to console me. My dog was terrified and upset rightly so. Profiling a dog bc it's a bully breed its just wrong and even worse if you're getting it from your vet. My dog has never attacked or bit anyone there for the whole 2yrs I was going and the next day they have the nerve to tell me he was difficult. Well, of coarse he was I was extremely upset. It was very unprofessional. The excuse they gave me was "there's a lot of women who work here and at the end of the day attitude accur" WOW. Really. Dr. Weiver was great and so was my regular techs but the woman Jennifer that was listen thru the door and gossiping up front with the reception people lost my business. I have 2 large dogs rottweiler and pitbull. Don't work at a vet clinic if ur afraid of big dogs. Profilers.

I am a health care professional and joined google + just to write a review for River Heights. I went in for a general check up a couple weeks ago and Dr. Juriga spent a good 40 minutes with me. I am probably more of a high maintenance mom than most, and was extremely impressed with his knowledge, kindness, as well as his desire to work with me on some of my holistic views. Our little guy did have a chipped tooth in which he recommended a dental cleaning, along with x-ray and procedure as needed to care for the tooth. We went in this week for the dental exam/cleaning, and everyone could not have been more kind. Special thanks to Variga for your patience and care of our little one.
