I loved that it was tidy and clean. There was no stench. It smelled fresh. The handles below the desk for the dog leash is very convenient especially when signing papers and talking to the doctor. The staff is very friendly all around. I highly recommend to pet owners.

Stay away of this place ! All was good with first regular visit , vaccination schedule, etc until my dog got sick . Rude lady upfront takes the stool specimen , calls later said that all is normal but does not hear or care that doggy has diarrhea, cannot eat , is coughing and is vomiting . She said we can see a doctor only by appt and does not specify when . All you hear was the negative answer” No-“ meaning the dog could not be seen and helped,and any doctor or nurse was not available to help. Judge for yourself if you would like to go to this office .

I took my dog here after being sent all over for emergency surgery for my 13 year old dog. I called and they put him on the next day. I'm so great full for all the doctors and staff. You guys are heaven sent. Everyone was so kind and so sweet to my little old man. The staff kept me posted on how he was doing before surgery and the doctor called immediately right after surgery to let me know everything went well!! My dog has recovered and is doing well!!

Terrible experience. They care about how to make MORE money than truly help animals. They wanted to charge me and push for an X-ray before they even did a urine test. I am not surprised but disappointed.

While the staff is nice and seemingly competent, they charge vastly more than other places, both because of extra tests/medicines but simply higher list prices. For example, I took my dog in for her second set of vaccines. Because she had mucus, they wouldn’t do the vaccine, but instead charged $300 for the visit, including two prescriptions. My dog’s sister (different owner), went to a different vet two days later with the same mucus symptoms. The other vet did a swab test and said no meds necessary, and charged $35. Vaccine treatments are $40+ more at Metro, too.

I usually use a different vet, but when our little dog was attacked by a bigger dog on Sunday afternoon, ours was closed, so we brought Boo-Boo here. And they accepted him as a walk-in, and quickly took him in. The techs got him situated quickly, and the vet (June LaFave VMD) took care of him. Check-up, xrays , stitches and wrapped up, excellent care, and obviously cared about how we were concerned. So we might start coming here now, given their extensive hours (7am -10pm 7-days a week) But excellent care and consideration given. Cant say enough good things.

Metropolitan Vet does not only offer convenient hours but is always extremely friendly and helpful. As the new owner of a puppy, I have relied on their expertise and availability many times and they always deliver! I have met with many different veterinarians and techs and every one of them is knowledgeable & helpful. I am so happy to have found this vet, I know my puppy is getting the best care and I have the ultimate peace of mind! Highly recommended!

I've been in a couple times to Metro Vet for puppy shots and a nail trim. Every time I've been in they've been so nice and helpful. They answer all my questions nicely and respectfully, even if they're seemingly silly questions (you know, worried pet mom). And they're very accommodating with scheduling. The location is perfect for anyone living in the loop. I would recommend Metro Vet to any Chicago pet parents.

I took my dog here for the first time when he was sick as we had just moved to the area. They got us in right away. My dog is usually afraid of the vet but he loved everyone who worked with him. You can tell they really love animals. Dr. Schneider was thorough in evaluating him and he was on the mend with some antibiotics. Their pricing was good and we received excellent care.

Office is very clean and they have very flexible business hours, so it is easy to go on weekends, week days or after work. I have never had a problem with a walk-in emergency or with making an appointment on shorter notice. Front desk staff is always helpful and Drs Luciano and Cruz-Balsar have been incredibly helpful.

I switched Vet/Clinic due to my older fur baby having a cancerous tumor and wanted another opinion. I met with Dr. Balser and she explained everything from A-Z. I loved her approach and sincerity to my baby’s treatment. The staff was fantastic, free parking available, and the clinic is super clean. Metropolitan Veterinary Center is amazing! Our dog was sick and they took us as a walk-in on a Sunday. The doctor was patient and clear about our options. When we left our dog there for the day, the doctor called us a few hours later and provided us with an update. When we picked her up, she was happy and feeling a lot better. This is a great place to take your pets. They truly do care about each animal’s well being. They also give discounts.

They offer great services and my dog loves them. We've had a few scares and have brought him in on emergency the same day. They see us almost immediately when we arrive. Their parking lot is great because street parking is hard to find in that area. They always have some goodies for dogs and their owners like treats, water available, and other dog supplies. They even host certain events for their patients like bringing in a food truck for dogs and giving vouchers to their patients. It's a great community!

Bought my dog Nacho! for a checkup. From receptionist to every person in the office the service and CARING for Nacho! was top notch. Only people who LOVE animals respond positively to the certain level of crazy my dog provides. They were great about it. From the hydrant painted on the wall to the hook you can use to tie your dogs leash to their office hours, this is the place for care for your beloved pets.Was surprised to get a follow up call too. I have been bringing my cats here for two years. I have a very difficult cat that has needed to be hospitalized three times in the last two years. He has to be put under anesthesia even for the most simple procedures and it a terrible pain to strangers when he is awake. The doctors and technicians here have been nothing but amazing to us through everything. They are caring, thorough, experts in their field and just so incredible. We will never go anywhere else while we live in Chicago!

From the moment we walked in with our pup we felt welcome. They had treats and a water bowl waiting and the receptionist was very pleasant. The exam rooms are very clean, warm, and inviting. The vet tech's are very nice and enjoying making sure you pets have a positive experience. the Vets are very nice and definitely care about how your pet is doing. We were very satisfied with our visit and will be back again next time Arya needs to be seen.

The staff at the MVC are great! The are very helpful and compassionate when we bring our dog in. They accept walk-ins, but appointments are recommended. There is a convenient parking lot on the north side (enter via the alley) for customers, which is an added bonus. The provide a range of services ranging from an check-up to full on procedures. There is no place we'd rather take our dog.

We had a wonderful experience at Metro Vet today! Our 12 year old chihuahua had been having severe eye pain that ended up being an ulcerated Cornea. We got in to see the doctor within 24 hours. Dr. Jacobs was thorough and calmed all of our fears about a potential eye removing surgery. We will be back to see her on Saturday to follow up. The care was exceptional and the price is very reasonable. While we were there, an injured cat came in. The doctor came out immediately to greet the cat, sent it into triage with a tech and had another tech follow up with its owner. It was extremely impressive to see the care in an emergency. We would recommend them to anyone who wants only the best care for their pet. We've been through 3 veterinarians in the past and we found our forever home. They are open everyday until 10PM and have free parking. Thank you Metropolitan Veterinarian!

My wife and I initially picked MetVet simply because they were the closest to us at the time we adopted our cat, however it was no question that we stuck with them when we moved all the way up to Andersonville. Absolutely everyone from the support staff to the nurses to the doctors (we always see Dr. June) has been so welcoming and exhibited such incredible care for our cat. The facility is clean, easy to get to (in part because of the parking lot, which is great considering we choose to drive), and prices have always been fair. Cannot recommend highly enough.

They even accommodated when I wanted to see the doctor for Cocoa without an appointment. The doctor once even waived the examination fee as the issue with Cocoa was minor to nothing. The folks over at Metro Vet run a really human operation. Being ultra responsible pet owners, we realized the night before traveling across the country for Thanksgiving that our pooch's vaccines had expired a few days earlier and we would not be able to board him. Without an appointment, they squeezed us in, researched exactly what the boarding facility required, and were able to get all of our puppy's vaccines and tests in and done before they closed. I really can't overstate it enough, they effectively saved our holiday Thank you!

They are very clean and amazing. My dog swallowed a sock so I took her to a vet and they said they would have to perform surgery. I called metropolitan and they asked if the vet tried to make her throw up. I said no, they said she needs surgery. They told me to bring her in and I did. They made her throw up the sock immediately! So thankful for them because I did not have $3,000 to pay for surgery at that moment.

At this point, Ollie has seen nearly every doctor in the practice and they have all have been caring, patient, and extremely thorough. Our Double Doodle Asher has been going to Metropolitan Veterinary Center for the past 6 months. I can't even begin to describe what an excellent experience we have had. My dog has patches and the vet immediately knew it was dermodex, prescribed us the medication and it went away very soon. Our dog collapsed suddenly while at a 5K downtown Chicago with Congestive Heart Failure. The veterinarian at the event recommended us to Metropolitan vet as the best and closest option since our dog needed attention right away(she was actually a veterinarian at another practice). The vet at the event had called ahead and the Metropolitan team was ready to assist our dog when we arrived. They did a great job taking care of her and we were able to pick her up later that evening. She was pretty much back to herself the next day and our regular vet in the suburbs has us on the same regimen they prescribed. Very thankful to the Metropolitan Vet team, they did a great job, and would recommend them for vet care.

I had a great experience here initially but the experience I had with Dr. Balser was beyond traumatic for me and my dog. She quickly recommended eithanizing my dog (I took Molly home and she is doing great, for the record), she spoke down about the work of another vet done on Molly at the clinic days before and thus charged me again to have tests RE-RUN ($2,000 total), and cherry on top...fed high fat food to my dog that had pancreatitis, meaning another $1,000 in treatment and pain for my poor dog.

I took my pup to Metropolitan Veterinary Center after being diagnosed with a luxating patella in both hind legs. Our regular veterinarian recommended immediate surgery costing over $5k. Metropolitan Veterinary Center explained all possible outcomes if we were to pursue surgery, stem cell therapy, or a holistic approach. They also recommended X-rays to relieve any doubt which was very helpful in the decision process - even providing a digital copy of the X-ray for us to keep. The facility has great hours (nights & weekends), clean, high-tech, and even provides free parking which was easy to navigate. I'll be returning here for teeth cleaning, routine shots, and exams.

This vet came very highly recommended to me by another dog owner and I couldn't be more thankful! We had taken our dog to her shelter's vet (where we adopted her) a couple times, but it's over an hour away, so I needed something closer. Everything about Metropolitan is perfect for us! They have great hours, the center is extremely clean and comfortable, the prices are VERY reasonable, and the veterinarians and assistants are so friendly, helpful, and they are all gentle with our girl (she's very skiddish, so they're very patient with her). I am now "paying it forward" by recommending this place to anyone reading this and anyone at the dog park/beach who asks.

There is a reason why I keep taking my pet back to Metropolitan Vet even though there are other vet centers close to me. What makes Metro Vet stand out from all the others are the very compassionate and caring staff that work there. Everyone, from the front desk to the veterinarians themselves add a personal touch to this center. Other vets that I have gone to treat my pet as well, but there was always something missing. What was missing was that the vets don't always remember us, or how my pet was doing since our previous visit nor take the time to listen to all my concerns. They like to do their job and move on to the next patient. It felt cold and distant. However, at Metro Vet, they are always willing to listen and take your questions seriously instead of brushing it off. The staff are very friendly and will make you feel welcomed. Making appointments are quick and they will try their best to be on time. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to see a vet. One of the vets that work there is Dr. June LaFave. She addresses any concerns I have about my pet and if more information/answers come up later, she is quick to inform me. I cannot see myself going to any other vet center.

My cat has been going to this vet for several years and was just there today for her vaccinations. I originally chose MetroVet because of the convenient location and fantastic hours, and those are still great reasons to go here! Also, the staff has always been great and does their best to keep Luna calm while she's there. If you have a cat, don't worry about it not being a cat-only practice because the lobby is large enough to keep dogs away from your cat (I've never had to wait long, anyway!)

First thing that struck me about Metro Vet is how friendly the staff is when you walk in. Even when they're busy, there's always at least one person that stops what she's doing to greet you. Second thing that I noticed is how nice it smells! I have walked out of other vets because of distasteful aromas. Yes, I realize that if there is a sick animal certain things do happen, but it's important for me to know - especially if this is a place that I choose to board my fur babies - that it's being kept clean. I will freely admit that my cat, Snoopy, isn't easy to deal with. She puts up a fuss/fight when anyone but me tries to touch her - particularly since she's lost her sight. But, when I've had to go out of town on business, I've been comforted to know that the staff at Metro Vet knows by now how to take good care of Snoopy regardless of her mood. When she got a bit too hyper and made a mess of herself during an appointment, they cleaned her up for me and even wrapped the soiled kennel bedding, providing me with one of their own towels for her to rest on for the trip home. Sadly, I am moving out of state after visiting Metro Vet for over a year now. Snoopy (and her newly-adopted brother) will be making a final visit to Metro Vet for the travel certificates. I wish I could take the vet with me, because it seems that - for me, anyway - a really good one has been hard to find. Thank you, Metro Vet. You will be missed.

Never much of a wait and they are so helpful. They don't try and suck money out of you, where most vets if you call in for any questions they just recommend that you set up a meeting to come in. My dog ate half a pound of milk chocolate and the vet asked me several questions over the phone and concluded that everything would be okay since he ate chocolate covered nuts instead of a solid half pound of chocolate. Sure enough, my pup was okay by the next day. Because of that I'm loyal to Metropolitan and have always had a great experience.

I took my dog Powder here for the first time on Sunday night (YES, this place is open Sunday nights!) and LOVED it. I called on Sunday afternoon to schedule an appointment, and the receptionist was extremely nice and helpful and got us in an hour later. Dr Balser is my dogs vet and has been for years. I have always relied on her for sound advice for my pets. My dog, Godzilla, is not always nice when she is scared and it makes me feel good to know that Godzilla is comfortable with Dr Balser. Another scam out to get money, they demanded an physical to get an AKC XRAY Veterinary are no longer the care we used to get its all about money to rake it in, lost touch with reality, I didn't mind paying a physical for the other dog for a rabies shot and requirement, but the other which already has a physical, just to get an AKC Xray? I told the receptionist I objected that is was like thievery, but would pay she hung up on me! Also never booked my other dog for the rabies shot I asked and agreed to the extra $72.00! Rude intake by phone. Got email for appointment and the link was 404 error too!

The front-desk staff was very friendly and was able to accommodate our schedule, even having weekend hours on both Saturday and Sunday. Both the vet tech and vet are great and really show kindness and special care to each animal. Also, free parking via the alley behind the vet is a HUGE plus! I have went to Metropolitan Veterinary Center twice with two different cats. Both experiences have been great. The receptionist has always been so responsive with phone calls even calling to see if my cat was doing okay after her doctor's visit. The space is extremely clean, and parking is readily available for free right next door. It was always so easy to get an appointment as they are open everyday. The waiting area and the patient rooms are always so clean. The vet techs are extremely wonderful in handling my cats, really putting them at ease. The veterinarians are conscious about the costs of the procedures and will give you a cost estimate before going forward with any medical procedures. That was a big plus for me in weighing the different options. If I have any pet medical needs, I would definitely go to Metropolitan Veterinary Center!

Their hours (7am-10pm) make it super easy to schedule appontements ahead of time, and any time I've ever had an "emergency" they are able to see my pup right away. Metro Vet has a great staff, especially Antoinette, who greets every person and pet with a smile. My puppy is never scared to go to Metro vet because the staff is so comforting, giving her lots of love and food. I'm a very paranoid puppy parent, probably because this is my first dog, and I pop in a lot! They always somehow squeeze me in or are able to take my puppy back to do a quick check to make sure her vitals are functioning properly. They always call a day or so after the visit to make sure my fur baby is feeling better. They have a convenient location, parking available, and great hours! Similar to other pet owners, e.g., 4/17 Yelp review, I had quite a few negative experiences here, put up with quite a lot for some years. I would not recommend that people bring a beloved pet here. Examples include: vet who continually pushed for my dog to have bladder surgery for stones without allowing adequate time for medical therapy, I actually felt very uneasy about it and family and friends warned me that some vets are very pushy about not-needed interventions; once I made the decision to not proceed with the surgery at that time, the vet’s previously mild tone became extremely belligerent and threatening, suggesting that I am an irresponsible pet parent & stating that I am acting AMA (against medical advice), said she would write as much in her notes, I told her Sure, that is your right. I knew then that my instincts about her had been correct. I should have immediately transferred my dog’s care at that time, I foolishly did not. Prior to this, the vet also claimed that there had been no interval decrease in bladder stone size on serial radiography following change to a special diet; she did not know that I read radiographs for a living & knew that she was lying and/or did not know what she was doing: when she did finally realize my profession, she was v.embarrassed & shamefaced. (By the way, after an additional month of a special dog food, my dog’s bladder stones dissolved on their own, praise God. Was so glad I did not follow the vet’s “advice”/give in to her bullying). Also, very importantly, know that the majority of the vets at this site are simply Not Good- a simple straightforward chief complaint will require 2-3 visits rather than one because you will be randomly assigned to a (likely) brandnew vet or one who is uneducated but too arrogant to ask anyone else for advice! Horrible, this happened time and time again. Everyone has to start somewhere, but humility is needed- ask your seniors for help when you don’t know an answer to a question. There is (very) high turnover with the vets at this facility, obvi not a good sign at all, and they frown upon allowing other vets to see your pet/poor ability to obtain consults, not sure what the point of having several vets at a site is. Most of the techs are inattentive and not-skilled and require that information be repeated to them many times and are slow to move. Some are clearly unhappy and unable to do basic procedures like an anal gland explusion (I once had to go 2x within a few days because 1st tech hadn’t completed job sigh). At last visit, the appointment had already gone over the expected time, and the tech suddenly remembered he didn’t weigh my dog (typically done at the start of the appointment); this tech is notoriously slow-moving and requires the same information be repeated many (many) times, I said Okay (even though my dog had been at the clinic recently, very much doubted that her weight had changed much). He did not care that I was already late to make it to a flight- & a usually 30min appt for an ear infection became 3x as long because we ended up with a nice but verbose vet whose of course special interest is allergies, she ultimately recommended my purchasing an entire smorgasbord of new meds and topical ointments for my dog which of course I bought, spending an exorbitant amount of money for ultimately questionable results! (My poor dog’s ears and paws are still inflamed!) Ridiculous. & appointments almost never start in time. Re: desk staff, most are (very) rude, be unable to find you in the system despite many prior conversations & will accuse you of lying about being an established patient (sigh- I know, why did I continue care at this place UGH), leave you on hold and never return, etc. And there is little to no oversight regarding how these individuals treat people. & finally the facilities itself are very much rundown in appearance, especially in comparison to other local clinics. Please do learn from my horrible experiences here, SLoop petowners.

The entire staff works so well together to give my dog a great experience every time he has an appointment. My dog has no fear of going to the vet and I attribute that fact to the professional staff and cleanliness of the center.
