Dropped dog off for bath ,was told that I would be called when he was ready for pickup. I never received call. Clinic closed without a call. Luckily some staff members were still there. I was told my dog was forgotten about.. because they were really busy. I'm leary of returning my pet to a place that cannot keep track of him.

I have been taking my Shih Tzu to this location since I gotten him as a little pup and every call and visit the entire stuff there has always been very attentive and pleasant. They are always open to questions and is very loving to all the pets they encounter. I couldn't imagine taking my dog to any other clinic. The team is awesome!!!

Hyde Park Animal Hospital has courteous, knowledgeable staff, and caring vets. They have late hours and their prices are reasonable. With two locations, it is not difficult to get appointments quickly when needed. I trust them with my pet's life - there's no higher compliment than that.

this review has nothing to do with dr baker she is awesome.. this review is for horrible experience of calling to schedule an appointment for my kitten, providing them with all the vaccinations information and dates, then getting there with ms shana who was so unwilling to assist me, I had a partial picture which could have been emailed easily....but what happened to all the information that was taken down upon scheduling...nevertheless, thanks for sharing how the schedule was open absolutely looking forward to driving in rush hour a second time on Friday evening at 5 in Chicago Ms. Shana. I love Dr. Baker, but I am now officially taking my babies to a new vet. Iam certain, this review will not matter to them nor losing one customer, but customer service is everything!

Dr. Wake and team are ROCKSTARS. Hershey - my baby - saw him, Dr. Williams, Dr. Bailey and Dr. Henry also, like once. Then, we moved to Florida. We've been in Tampa 2 years and if I could put him in the car and drive him there for his appointments, I would! I just had the most hideous vet experience on Friday and I couldn't even call Dr. Wake & team because the vet hadn't done ONE test or x-ray for me to reference. VERY hopeful for the knowledge and skill of the veterinary team we'll be visiting in the morning for a consultation. Just occurred to me to share my thoughts about my favorite vets. So many great stories about the vets and the front desk staff. Thank you, thank you, thank you ALL for making the first 8 years of me being a pet mom wonderful. I have a mini piglet, 2 bunnies and 5 guinea pigs. Dr. Williams examined every one of them and taught me quite a few things a pet parent needs to know. In the past I have had positive experiences with the hospital, both boarding and pet care. Over the holiday my pet contracted some form of irritation/infection to his genital area, resulting in swelling. I attempted to get help, but offices were closed. Called first thing on the 2nd of January. Only to find and get a "cold" response of being booked. Without a breath I was given the number to VedPet. There was no question as to what the problem was...NOTHING. Just a referral. Over the past year, the service has declined. Mostly from the customer service standpoint. When we take our pet in we get "how much they love him". Standard response? Falling out of comfort with this place.

Foxy as been there for her shots because it's so close to home. Recently, I brought Foxy in because I knew something was wrong. Doctor made sure I was aware of cost before proceeding with the testing . Not sure I liked that approach. However, I did let the doctor proceed. It was expensive to emilinate possible diagnosis without actually finding what was actually wrong. I don't think antibiotics cures everything. So I'm not that convinced that my money was put to good use. $307.00 worth of no facts. I'm writing because I'm very frustrated with the process.

Everyone was extremely pleasant and professional starting at front desk. Staff that didn't have to engage with Blu came out to greet him and offer treats. Blu is an African Boerboel and staff was not intimated by him. The doctor was very knowledgeable and offered alot of good suggestions from weight control to skin care

notified them several times they have the wrong email address for a patient and have hit unsubscribe from their emails and im still getting emails from them on a daily basis. i feel bad little ceaser who obviously has some serious issues and hope their owner remembers their appointments. for real the fact you are messaging a random person in texas for someone who needs nearly a weekly visit for such serious things is just plain sad. its 2019 figure out how to use email.

Dr. Baker and the nurse Jen were absolutely wonderful! My new puppy was her last appointment and they never once made us feel rushed. They were both so kind and understanding about our concerns regarding our new puppy. I was really impressed by their care of our puppy. We will continue to go to them. Dr. Bailey, Hyde Park site, is knowledgeable, highly competent, patient and caring. She took a good history, and thoroughly examined Buddy. Buddy likes her, and I like her too. UPDATE: 6/23/16, Buddy and Maxie stayed overnight several nights and they came back happy boys! And in the process of adopting a rescue cat and coordinating the initial vet visit with the foster parent, the rescue agency medical coordinator and my schedule, Paul at the Stony Island site went out of his way to schedule and reschedule as many times as necessary until we finally got it done! Paul is over the top patient, (especially since I'm a nervous Nellie.) Zach recommended Hyde Park Cats, and I'll always be grateful - thanks Zach. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Baily, who answers all of my medical questions, and on several occasions has thoroughly examined Maxie, Buddy and Bobtail. She knows cats. Dr. Wake is a prince and was gentle with Bobtail. The rest of the staff at both sites are really good folks. :-) The phone system is a little tricky, so I'm patient and just call back until I get through.

My experience with bringing my doggie (Wynter) for treatment was a great one. The staff were very nice and professional. The doctor was knowledgeable about my dog's illness and made sure I understood her treatment and explained how to distribute my dogs meds once I got home. The bill was not so bad for what my dog came in for....so that was a plus:-) The wait time was not long at all, so scheduling an appt is probably better if you don't need for your dog to be seen ASAP where a walk is needed. Keep Up The Good Work!!!

I'm still shaken by my last encounter at this clinic so forgive the tone of this entry. After weeks of veterinary care for my sick cat and ultimately having to go to another clinic for confirmatory diagnosis, I brought him back to HPAH for euthanasia. The support staff was cheerful and friendly. The vet tech, Paul, who took my cat away to have an IV line placed, said that he would be right back. Over 20 minutes later he still wasn't back and I went out to the front desk to see what was going on. Another 5 minutes goes by and the vet, Dr. Avery, comes in. She said that they had been unable to place the IV and would have to do a direct cardiac injection. I asked her how many times they had tried to place the IV. She said so many times that she had lost count. I pictured my dying cat on a cold steel table being held down by the techs as she stuck him over and over again to do the supposedly humane thing. I will admit that I became upset. Why didn't you come in after 2 or 3 sticks to tell me that perhaps it would be kinder to pursue a different option? I yelled at her. She yelled at me. Repeatedly. "Well WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO NOW?" She asked. Repeatedly "I AM AT MY WITS END!" She was at her wits end because it was the very end of the day, she was having a hard time doing her job, and weeks previously when my cat was an inpatient, she had had to deal over the phone with my dissatisfaction with their care and lack of communication. To be fair she was covering for a colleague, Dr. Jeremy Williams, one of the owners. So she didn't want to come back into the exam room to tell me that the euthanasia process was not going as planned. She felt the better option was to keep sticking needles into my poor cat. She called me rude. She yelled some more, and ultimately handed off the final procedure to a colleague. He and a tech came into the room with my cat, both front legs shaved to reveal the stick marks, with some unstated drug already on board (God knows at what point she gave this) such that he was wide eyed and altered. Another colleague had to perform the cardiac injection under general anesthesia and contend with me sobbing over table. So under no circumstances should you bring your pet here. Not even to end its life. Don't do it. If you have read any positive reviews about how wonderful Tom Wake is, he is no longer practicing there. I have lived in the neighborhood for decades. I grew up here, and for years my family brought our pets to this clinic. I will never go back. Ever.

Also was not able to reccomend what kind of diet to feed the dog. Wasn't very knowledgeable at all regarding the dog. How? You work in an animal hospital

The visit was great with the exception of the wait!!! I waited in the exam room for about 20minutes. This no one other than the attendant working with Dr. Williams apologize for the wait. The flow of customers needs to be improved. I have a large dog who is not used to other dogs and became adgetated with other dogs around barking and not in much control by their owners. These dogs could be immediately taken to a room.'t My overall impression was good. Attendant staff need more customer service training on working with animals and owners. They dont communicate with dogs/cats and owners. They could say "hi (dog name) and say to owner how is _____today. "dog name" looks great" The staff dont appear too happy with their jobs. Finally, Dr. Williams and his Attendant are the BEST EVER. I have never experience a Vet who took so much care in examining my dog. Not only did he examin but gave me feed back. Pointing out things that I should address as the dog continues to age. DR WILLIAMS DESERVES TO BE ONE OF CHICAGO'S BEST.

Dr. Chatterjee and his team at Hyde Park Animal hospital are the gold standard of Veterainary care. I took my 9 month old Minature Daschund Wrigs in for his neuter surgery and Dr.Chatterjee walked me through the procedure step by step and has called to check in on Wrigs throughout the day. I would recommend him and his team to anyone looking for a caring and fairly priced Vet.

The staff at Hyde Park Animal Hospital is absolutely wonderful. Very helpful and very willing to help. I love the way they answer the phone. If they need to place you on hold, they will first ask if it's an emergency. That shows how important you and your pet(s) are to them. Questions asked are answered with patience and without any attitude. The front desk staff ROCK!!!! The Doctors and Technicians are GREAT!!!! As they are the ones interacting with you beloves. The level of care is exceptional. Appointments are easy to get....no long wait time for appts. I have been coming here since my 3 1/2 year old Cocker Spinal was 5 months old. I now have a new baby and he is a client as well. I will forever come to the Hyde Park stony Island location for all of my pets medical needs

Love HP animal hospital. They are kind and attentive to my puppy. I think they are a little pricey, but on par with other vets in trendy areas. I'd rather pay a bit more to make sure that Cooper is well taken care of. I definitely trust them. I no longer live in HP, but still travel to see them.

The entire staff is fantastic! They got my cats ready for our cross town move in June 2015. Gerald and Patch traveled very nicely. And they are super patient with cats when they are being less than lovable during their exams. They explain everything regarding your pet's health. Hydepark Clinic is a wonderful asset to the Hydepark neighborhood. It is in a convenient location. Doctor Baker and her team were very kind and attentive to my cat. I love the animal friendly people and the service. When my cat became serously ill, the doctor explained the options and gave me all the time I wanted to make a decision and spend with my cat. When I adopt another cat, that is when it will be going for his/her medical needs.

We have taken all of our cats to Dr. Wake since soon after he opened his office in the old Harper Court center. We have had 14 cats in all and every one but the first one has been treated there. Dr. Wake has always been great with our animals, explains everything clearly and fully to us, and has fees that are very fair. So we were very relieved and happy that he was able to build the Hyde Park Animal Hospital on Stony Island when his old building was torn down. We are just as pleased with the new facility, the great staff and the other vets--Dr. Williams, Dr. Henry, and Dr. Bailey. Since we have cats we sometimes take them to the smaller office on 53rd Street, but the larger hospital has the advantage of a parking lot, so it can be more convenient though it is farther away from our home. We have also had cats boarded several times and the staff is very thorough in taking information about feeding routines, etc. There are not enough stars to express our gratitude for the great care given our kitties over the years!

I have been taking my dog here for years (14). She has a horror of veterinaries because of all the smells; she becomes very nervous and starts dropping fur. That said, this small clinic on 53rd St has the nicest vets and assistants. They are very kind and gentle with her. Their prices are reasonable and best of all, they are in walking distance. I have not been impressed with the Stony Island office, but the 53rd St branch is excellent.

The services here are ok but these clerks have no idea how to keep records in order. I brought in a deceased pet and they screwed up all the records. They asked no questions about the account when the pet was dropped off and the cremation services were paid for. So they didn't have a number to reach me at when the services were complete. They didn't even have my name on the card that they gave me when i picked up the remains. That is not something you want to go through after the loss of a pet you had for 20years! Complete lack of regard! Update! I received a call from the manager who was apologetic about my experience there. It's a shame this happened. If not for her compassion and understanding I would not be coming back with my other pets. Thank you for the call!

As 2018 draws to a close I am leaving a review of Hyde Park Animal Hospital, a place where I have taken all of my animals for the past 46 years approximately. I have taken my animals there since long prior to the establishment of the 69th Street location. and even before Dr. Wake's tenure there. My reviews of this facility have previously been unreservedly and enthusiastically stellar, having had positive experiences with the care of my numerous animals over the years. I have no regrets over those reviews and so leave the rating at three.. The most recent experience however was devastating and not just because I lost my deeply, deeply beloved 14 1/2 year old Giant Schnauzer, Basie, on May 8, 2018, but because of the lack of concern and respect for me as a customer in my loss of this animal, hinted at on previous encounters but made obvious in this last encounter. My dog had to be euthanized unexpectedly. His health had been failing but I was working with Dr. Whalen at his facility and had seen progress. I did not recognize that this 14 1/2 year old's condition was still guarded and fragile. When it turned out that May night that he was not going to survive, as explained to me, rather than risk putting him through more in the emergency room, Dr. Williams called in remotely and urged me to end Basie's life and suffering that night. and I agreed to put my dog down. It was unquestionably the most horrible experience I have ever had in my life short of losing my parents and my only sibling recently too. I brought my sweet boy in that night and left with his collar and a lock of his hair and the memory of that night and the events leading to it. I returned months later to collect his ashes. Neither doctor involved, Williams or Baker ever called to check on us as promised and it is not now necessary to do so. I eventually addressed a heartfelt note to Dr. Williams to which he never responded. Eventually I received a card indicating a donation was made to an animal foundation, however that card was made in the name of the wrong dog, my remaining dog who is Basie's very much living grandson. On several occasions I requested Basie's records for my keeping and have yet to receive them via e mail. Overall, I was left with the feeling that after years and years of good experiences here and believing that our business was valued, I felt the opposite, that this business has grown so rapidly as to have lost a very personal and community oriented touch that is sorely missed. Although I recently took my dog there for kenneling when I went out of the country, I felt really uncomfortable leaving him there and feel the same about returning for primary care there. I started new records elsewhere, just in case needed, with Drs. Henry (Evanston) and Whalen (Evergreen Park), both of which are far from my home. For me this loss of my comfort with HPAC ad HPAH is almost as devastating as losing Basie because I once truly loved going there. My wish and hope is that especially the DOCTORS at HPAC and HPAH remember with every encounter that people's animals are their family members, sometimes their only family members and their loss is profound and impactful. For whatever it's worth, Thanks for providing a forum. Best wishes.

I was visiting from out of town when my dog picked up some lovely midwestern fleas. I panicked and called all over town trying to get her in to get some preventative meds -- most were rude to me. Carmen at the 53rd street location was incredibly helpful giving me the over-the-counter solutions until I could get in for an appointment. The front desk staff at the Stony Island location were kind and friendly, and Dr. Cavanaugh and the nurse helped me get my dog fixed up quickly. What a great place!

I have called for two days to make an appointment for grooming, will you people answer the phone, you're losing a lot of business here! By reading the comments, learned that HPAH is under new ownership explains a lot. I can take my money elsewhere if my neighborhood businesses are not willing to provide excellent service and professionalism at all times!

This is an all comprehensive facility with excellent and knowledge doctors. State of the art. I knew my pet needed blood work and x-rays and I didn't want to wait days for the results. I got them in minutes and was able to decide the best course of action with a same day consultation. Doctors are very thorough. The receptionist was kind enough to find me a same day schedule to fit my needs. Services are a little on the high side but not exorbitant. Brand new and spotless clean facility with ample parking. Highly recommended!

When I called to schedule an appointment, the girl I spoke with was extremely helpful and very friendly. She helped me make the determination to choose the soonest appointment, and they were able to squeeze me in for one of their final slots of the night within 2 days of my phone call. During the appointment, the vet was very helpful in teaching me different ways that I can prevent the problem from happening again, or signs to look for if I need to bring her back in; she really helped me problem-solve so I can try to make sure my kitty stays as healthy as she can be. They took great care of my cat and I look forward to continuing with them for both of my cats as long, as I live in the area!

First of all, I really want to be able to write something different than what I’m about to write. I like to patron neighborhood businesses and have taken both my cats to this business for over ten years (as had many friends in the past ). But alas, the last week has been most disappointing in terms of interacting with the Hyde Park Animal Hospital. I am an emotional wreck because now one of my cats needs serious care and the family vet of so many years has apparently left the building. Hyde Park Animal Clinic/Hospital was hands-down a great place to go until this last week. I had not been since last year and pretty much expected the same great service as in years past. Instead, I had sticker shock at the rise in dental procedure prices (which was finally, after about five phone calls, explained to my satisfaction—red flag one about the current state of customer service here); multiple calls where I was on hold for upwards of ten minutes if anyone answered to begin with (red flag two); medication not being placed in chart (red flag three); being told that my cat’s condition would not effect another medical procedure he would need then finding out that he actually could not have the procedure after I took time off work to drop him off (red flag four); having to insist on meeting the doctor who would actually do the procedure that didn’t happen (red flag five); being called later in the day by another doctor—someone I had not met --and told that my cat has a heart murmur (red flag six); getting to the office to pick up cat and being given my cat and a sheet of instructions from said doctor who had previously spoken to me on the phone but who apparently did not think it important to meet with me to answer any questions about what seemed to me a serious condition (red flag seven—can we say lack of empathy?); being told by doctor that I was telling her she was doing a bad job and that if I was unhappy that I should find another clinic (!!!!!). She has a point, right? In total, I spoke with four doctors and twice received responses that were more concerned with how they felt about my comments than about my business or my concerns about my cat’s health. It was the last thing I expected from a business I have supported for so many years. I’m in distress about my cat’s health. I need to be able to trust the people I trust with the care of my animals. So many reviews here say that this is a good place; I did not have this experience. What I experienced was a lack of concern for keeping long-term business and a stark lack of empathy and general business sense (unanswered calls, missing information in pet chart, long hold times, multiple doctors for procedures, not making connections with pet owners, lack of empathy and follow-up). I could/would never, as a business person or a health professional, tell someone who is obviously stressed out about health concerns (and who isn’t when they go to vet or to their own doctor) that they should go somewhere else. Whatever happened to first do no harm? I am taking the advice of the last doctor and taking my business elsewhere. I know my expectations are high right now, but again, why should I expect less when the health of my cat is in question and I am paying good money for services?

Dr. Chatterjee and his crew were amazing! Our dog was feeling a lot of pain and he took his time to try to figure out all the possible reason for her neck pain. He prescribed a few pills and following his directions she is now feeling great! Our frenchie is pretty happy now! thanks to all of you guys!

If I could give them 0 stars I would! My dog has been going here for shots since she was little. She recently had a puppy and after telling that to several people— they still had me come for her appointment only to get there and say they will not give her shots because she just had a puppy, sole reason for coming there, the new Doctor there said she would look at her since I was there at her skin because I was concerned about that. Long story short I paid 90$ for her leg to be picked up and for medicine that was only $20 something dollars. I was not told the pricing up front because all I know is her shots are under $150. I paid $90 and no shots. I then called customer service the next day because I was upset about the service and not being told up front about pricing for that day because I could’ve just waited 2 more weeks for her to be seen. They put this rude lady named Vanity on the phone and talking about she was a customer service supervisor. The most foul manager/ supervisor I have ever encountered in my life! She starts getting upset and asking me how my doctor goes about pricing etc. MY DOCTOR not my dogs. I never asked for a refund but just to pay the remainder of what the invoice for shots would’ve been so they would still be getting paid. Sharon, hospital manager, did not accommodate at all. Said I could get a discount exam with shots, but YOU ALREADY GET THAT WHEN YOU DOG GETS SHOTS. All in all, I talked to 5 overgrown people about my baby just having a baby and I wasted time, money, gas and energy on these people. My dog will not be returning and I am out of almost $100 and no shots! Only go to them if you liked being talked to rudely and surprise bills after your dog has been touched for 30 seconds!

The staff was great and the groomer was top notch. Everyone seems to really care about the animals and the humans that bring them in...Now, I can conveniently take my Dasher to the vet and groomer less than 10 minutes from home. Love it!

Vets and vet assistants are great. 5 stars. Staff and record keeping systems are inconsistent at best. 2 stars. Records are awful and that makes it very hard to connect to petcare and training services. Earlier this week, I actually got into an argument with one of the folks on the phone who basically kept telling me I was wrong. "It says it right on the form that she got her booster shots" over and over despite it clearly NOT saying that. I tried multiple times to explain that puppycare services were confused by their form and instead of helping to offer a solution, she argued with me. I then used the contact form to ask for a note from the vet I could use instead, even writing the draft, and in response I got an even more confusing form sent to me. Today, the puppy training and daycare service called me to tell me that 1) the form they saw from HPAH was useless, and b) when they called HPAH to ask for clarification they were told they do not even have any records of my pet. OMG. I'm literally screaming at the incompetence. I miss Dr. Wake and the small crew on 53rd Street! ALSO: I just found out that the vets neglected to inform me that my puppy needed bordetella vaccine at 12 weeks. I brought her in at 8 weeks and 13 weeks for puppy wellness check and vaccines and during the second visit shouldn't they have known to give her bordetella??? What risk has she been under for the 2-3 weeks since then that she should not have been?
