REVIEWS OF Duke Animal Hospital IN Illinois

Amanda Grace

Despite this office being large and very busy compared to the small town practices I'm used to, I always feel comfortable here. The staff remember me and my pets from one visit to the next, and I feel confident that my furry ones (including exotics like a Bengal cat and sugar gliders) are in good hands. I love that this office has extensive technology integration, which allows us to communicate electronically or by phone. Plus, there's a parking lot so I just drive there and never have to worry about finding a spot for my car.

We've used Duke Animal Hospital for our 3 cats, and I do not hesitate to tell people they are the best Vet in the city, period. They take great care in building a profile of your pet, and giving you honest opinions when it comes to solving health issues, instead of going straight for the most expensive treatment. They also are happy to let you know when an option may be a waste of time. All the staff are very friendly and compassionate. Highly recommended!

I’ve been bringing my dog here for about a year and a half. Great vets and staff. You can really tell that they care so much about animals. Very reasonable pricing, a great deal considering the high level of care they provide.

Noa Francis Shayden

Super nice staff who actually care and take the time to fully explain possible courses of action. Will definitely be bringing my ol' lady back!

Jailene Rodriguez

They really took care of my cat and the service they do for the price is very worth it

Theresa Aguilera

Great place. Super friendly and a plus that it's in the neighborhood!!

Skylar Calder-Mastro

First visit today with a new pet who had a bit of a cold. The vet called me that night to follow up on the appt. which was pretty great and unlike other vets I've visited the vet actually spent time with me and my new kitty, was playful, took time to explain what she thought, checked in when things were going slowly and followed up at the end to let me know what to expect. It was a really good experience. Keep it up!

Brian Engebrecht

Wonderful staff who listen to and answer your questions. We've never felt rushed.

Ashley Labanics

We have a couple of guinea pigs and needed to find a vet for one of them since he had a few lumps that needed to be removed. We booked to see Dr. Duke and had a quick, easy, first vet visit and a super successful surgery a week later. Dr. Duke and her staff are very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. It is so great to find a vet who you can trust and know that they care about your little ones as much as you do. Thank you Dr. Duke!

I just moved to Lakeview and found this vet. Everyone here was so nice and helpful! My dog usually hates the vet, but he was happy here! They gave him a popsicle stick of peanut butter, and he didn't care about getting his temperature taken or his shots. I'll be happy to take my dog back here.

My puppy was previously a patient at another clinic. I am SO GLAD we have moved. The staff is ridiculously friendly and always so complementary of my pup. They always talk me through treatment options and are completely transparent with pricing. When this good boy was neutered, the doctor performing his surgery personally called me before and after the surgery to give me updates. That went a long way to reassure me he would be just fine (which wasn’t ever a concern). They are great with scheduling and have been able to see us quickly when my puppy was having tummy trouble. I HIGHLY recommend Duke to anyone in the area!

Hillary Plemons

Fascistic place to bring your rabbit and I'm sure other pets as well!

Chelsey Mason

Duke is a great animal clinic just alil expensive, friendly staffs & nice Veterinarian. They do show concerns with your pet.

This was the worst experiece I’ve ever had a vet by far. I brought in my pitbull mix puppy for a checkup with Dr. Davis, who was so unfriendly from the start and just wasn’t at all welcoming to me or my dog. Fast forward to the actual exam - the vet tech, Jamie, refused to go near my dog unless she wore a muzzle despite my dog being a happy go lucky puppy who literally wasn’t doing anything but sitting there wagging her tail. Her reason for this being, “pitbulls are unpredictable dogs that are known to randomly attack, so I’m not risking getting bitten”... like, really? I was truly shocked at how ignorant someone could be, especially a vet tech. Why pick such a job if you’re going to stigmatize certain breeds with untrue statements, and be too scared to work with them? After they put the muzzle on my poor confused pup and did the exam - Dr. Davis kept lecturing me about making sure I gave her the right diet so she wouldn’t grow to be overweight since pet obesity is so common. Like sure, I get that - but if you’ve seen Dr. Davis, you’ll understand why giving a lecture on weight control is ironic. 0/10, wouldn’t ever recommend - especially if you have a bully breed or similar, unless you want to deal with ignorant idiots who have no idea what they’re talking about. A vets office that discriminates against certain breeds? Big no thank you. Please educate yourselves before adding to the false stigma.

This hospital killed my bunny. She passed away in December and it has taken me 8 months to write this review because this hospital and their vet brings me so much anger. I am beyond disgusted and disappointed with this "animal hospital" and their vet - Dr. Davis. I brought her in as soon as they opened one morning. She was clearly in critical condition. When I got there, Dr. Davis told me that they would have to keep her during the day to "monitor" her and treat her when they weren't busy. When I kept asking her to give her a shot that typically helps her tract (which her last vet always did and made her feel better instantly), Dr. Davis got really aggressive and started yelling at me. She knew this was the simple solution which was inexpensive. After coming up with an alternate plan to save my bunny together, I said good-bye to my bunny and left. I received a call less than an hour later saying that she stopped breathing and they were preforming CPR. When I arrived about 10 minutes later, my bunny was gone and they were trying to collect payment. Dr. Davis charged me about $1,000 for services she claims her and her team completed. When I asked to see the X-ray that showed that she had a tumor, her team spent more than 45 minutes trying to "locate" the x-ray they took less than an hour ago. When she showed me the x-ray, it didn't have my bunny's name anywhere and it just all seemed extremely fishy to me. I still don't believe that was her x-ray to this day. Dr. Davis came in later to give me her "condolences" but she was still extremely rude and had no compassion to someone who just lost their pet. This was the second time I took my rabbit there. The first visit was also horrible. The vet trimmed her teeth which scared the life out of her. Never in her 8 years of living did her previous vets ever mention anything about her teeth being in bad shape or having to trim them. This place just wants to make money and does not care about your pet. Please do yourself and your pet a favor... do not go here.

Kelly Reardon

I had a great experience at Duke Animal Hospital! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend them!

Holly Crellin

They're fabulous and taking care of upset pet Guardians and sick pets.

Ryan Quanbeck

Super nice staff and always helpful.

Jonathan Douglas

While convenient to Lakeview residents, I would certainly travel a decent distance to come here if I had to. The staff is so friendly to us and our dog, and is very patient with both. They are punctual, thorough and make sure to give you all the information you need to take the best care of your pet. Pricing is very reasonable, and they make sure to give you estimates and options. To me that speaks volumes about not only how they treat animals, but the sensitivity to the people who take care of them.

Sean Puglisi

The vets here are patient and can find solutions for the most difficult aging demented pets, with candor and excellent professionalism.

Casey Jepsen

Great vets and staff.

Tonight right after my regular vet closed, I realize my dog was very sick. While looking up the phone for the emergency vet, I noticed Duke Animal Hospital was open until 10:00pm. Wow am I grateful I gave them a call! First off, the person who answered the phone, Buda, was one of the most helpful people I’ve ever spoken to. She was extremely friendly, and eager to help, at a time where I was super stressed for my dog. She put me immediately at ease. She explained they had no appointments available, but stayed on the phone to answer all my questions, and explain the things I should be looking for. I felt so much better. However, a short while later, she was giving me a call to let me know they had a cancellation, and offered for me to bring my dog in. I didn’t ask her to. She tracked down my number on the caller ID, so I could have the spot. Because of her my dog was seen tonight, and I’m beyond grateful. Immediately walking in the office, I was greeted by Manda. She was the perfect first impression for people entering the clinic. She came out from behind the counter, and made a point to greet my dog as well. She was so sweet to him, and it put him as ease being in a new vet’s office. She continued to comfort my dog, and couldn’t have been nicer. She also even followed my dog outside to collect a urine sample, which certainly can’t be a fun task. She did it eagerly, could not have been more helpful. Oh, I should also mention that they made me a cup of coffee because my arms were full with my dog. It’s a self-service machine, but they didn’t want me to have to put my dog down. Something they totally didn’t have to do, but goes the extra mile for customer service. Lastly, we saw Dr. Alore. She also could not have been nicer, and immediately put me and my dog at ease. Her vast knowledge was clear, and I was incredibly happy with her care. Even more appreciated, she didn’t rush me, and literally answered my 400 nervous questions. She didn’t make me feel a burden even once. She also explained everything throughly, and only insisted on tests that we necessary. In the end I left with a much lower bill than I thought I’d be paying. While I don’t foresee myself changing vets, I’m so happy to know this kind of late night vet is available in times of need. However, I would say to anyone looking for a regular vet for themselves, give Duke a try. You’ll thank me later.

Today is the second time I went in for an appointment and was not seen. The staff did not schedule my dogs appointment correctly, so we were not seen. They asked me to come back in an hour, which is just not feasible with a nervous dog. They did nothing to work with us and fix their mistake. Sally at the front desk was rude and condescending - when I emailed for my dog's records and expressed my dissatisfaction, Sally put it back on me and said it was my fault I chose to leave. Expecting me to wait an hour is ridiculous and her attitude was not appreciated. We will be seeking care elsewhere.

Susan DeLapp

Very compassionate. They don't try to make you do unnecessary procedures. The staff is very professional and kind!

Carol Gunia

Duke Animal Hospital is a modern facility with a very nice front desk staff. We get wonderful attention and thorough treatment from Dr Davis. I've been happily bringing my 4 cats here for over 3 years now. The extended hours are a plus, in case I have an emergency.

scott sharon

The staff is great here. I appreciate the care showed towards my cat as well as their efforts to ensure that I understood the diagnosis and plan for post-treatment care. They are also good with following up after appointments to see how things are going, if the treatment is working, etc. Free coffee and bottled water is a nice bonus!

Thomas Radde

I can't recommend Duke Animal Hospital enough. When we first started bringing our animals here, Dr. Duke was ALWAYS there and took the best care of our little friends. The front desk staff are funny and personable in between bouts of phone calls, and the techs love to ply your pets into submission with peanut butter or liver treats. It seems like Duke has expanded the practice a bit and there are more vets than there were previously, but each one that I've met, I'd gladly see again to have them care for our pets. They really are pretty great and your pets will probably think so too.

Addie Rockwood

I called with an emergency and they found my dog an appointment within an hour. The veterinarian walked me through the x-rays taken at the emergency vet and did a full evaluation of my dog and his vitals. Very pleased! Thank you, for taking care of my dog.

Luke Duggan

Really helpful staff. Great with my dog, she can get nervous, the staff did amazing with her.

Val G

I've been coming here for about two years now, and I absolutely love it! Everyone is so compassionate! My partner loves the free coffee, as well. Their hours are super convenient, especially for those of us who work during the day. Keep up the good work, everyone!

Mary Wynn

Really great staff and doctors! I trust them to give my pet the best treatment, and I feel like they treat their patients like they would treat their own pets. It's pretty expensive, though, so be prepared to pay for the top-notch care for your pet.

Nathaniel Judson

I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. Every doctor we have had has been kind, gentle and very professional. The best!

Greg

This place is so unorganized it’s like beyond belief. They cancel appointments at will & in my honest & true opinion, don’t seem to really care about the pets. They appear very nice at first, but deep down inside seem to always have something to sell & get very aggressive when asking legitimate safety questions. They are rude & condescending. As a pet owner, I deeply care about my pet. I could only hope for pets & pet owners that things have changed at this vet. it’s somewhat possible, that they treat some pets with care, especially now from some of the feedback they have been receiving. But in my opinion, I wouldn’t take that gamble. Their responses to some of these concerning reviews themselves, comes off as very defensive (instead of showing legitimate concern for the pet or pet owner) From my experiences & from what I have heard, I would never trust this vet ever again. Nope--- not with my dog!

comp friend

Great staff, wonderful doctors, thorough care. Love this place.

Yusuf Ali

They care. About your pats. My cat was in good hands. Yusuf Ali

Marta Melnic

Went there a couple years ago. They are trying to get all the money from you, spent around $500 and they were not able to tell me what is wrong with the dog. The place is a scam, don't go there.

Old Man Winter

This place is great. The vets, the techs, are all on top of their game. It also has great hours and free parking. I will be taking my best fiend there going forward as the care is top notch. The prices are typical and not over the top expensive.

Conner Kearns

Nothing but the best. Received a very comforting response to a situation that seemed as if it was life threatening to my dog. Would recommend highly to anybody seeking proper treatment for their pet.

Deanna Bafundo

Great service and great staff!

ChrisPat Jones

A couple of my cats had been here. No problems except the prices are quite high. I was given an estimate for a cats dental that was $1500.00. Imo, that's just absurd. My cat needed 5 molars removed but still I found a different place that did a great job for $835.00. I'll probably come back here for some things that aren't priced that ridiculously high. The receptionists and techs were pleasant and had no problems explaining how to give meds, how to measure them out or answer any questions. They're open till 10pm and have parking very close by which is very convenient.

Liv Gomes

We love Duke Animal Hospital! They are really great with our 14 year old cat. They are the first vet we've had that hasn't been afraid of her! They treat her calmly and with patience. They are very good about explaining pricing and not pressuring you into going with a certain treatment.

SIT Chicago

As a pet care company owner and neighboring business, I am proud to say that I had my first visit with Duke Animal Hospital today. Our little french bulldog, Mabel the babe, was seen by Dr.Delia and staff. I called in at 4:00pm and they were able to see us at 4:30pm. Talk about prompt! They were easygoing and understanding when it took me a bit to scrounge up her vaccination records etc since we just adopted her recently. All of the staff were courteous, communicative and professional during the visit from start to finish. They were respectful that Mabel isn't ready to be touched (she is still in rehab from her former life as a puppy mill mother). They answered all of my questions and reassured me that the cut inside her mouth (the reason I frantically called at the last minute) was just fine and they did not run a million tests. We got her the influenza and lepto vaccines quickly and at my request, they gave us some wipes for our baby's "adult onset acne" as I call it. They emailed me all receipts, a breakdown, and a reminder for our upcoming booster shots. Thank you for your promptness, compassion, and thorough visit. We look forward to bringing Mabel back in for her follow up visits.

Sharon Lezama

Great doctors and staff. Fabulous hours. They emailed me the next day to check on my fur baby.

Robert Rustman

The vet is great and honestly very sincere! Really a place to go!

Kim Spasari

The service I've experied here for my pup has been decent so far. Good but nothing extraordinary. But the wait time has been completely unnaceptable for every single visit. This issue will determine if I continue to bring my pet here or if I'll start going to Higgins Animal Clinic (same ownership as suburb Wheeling Animal Hospital that my family brought all our pets while growing up).

Carolyn Kelly

A parking lot they're open 7 days a week like 12 hours a day with metal nicest nicest caring people

Ronin Woods

We take our guinea pigs and cats here for check ups, The staff is super friendly, Duke Animal Hospital Is probably one of the best Animal Hospitals we have ever been to, We recently lost one of our Guinea Pigs And they wrote a note explaining that they were sorry to see her go, I Highly Recommend Anyone to take there pet(s) here.

Angela Latona

Their flexible hours make it easy for me to make an appointment. Staff is always very friendly. Sometimes it seems like a long wait in the exam room to be seen but once they come in I do feel that they give the appropriate time and attention that make it worth it. Never feel rushed or like I can’t ask questions. Glad I found a reliable primary vet.

Paul Bourdel

Dr. Duke is very patient and knowledgeable and truly has a passion for helping. I have no doubt recommending the hospital, especially for rare and exotic pets.

Kubrat Vrachanski

Today, I recently spoke with the personal, really don't have a clue of what are they going to do to my bird, except that is $60. Second I don't think you should be a client to have a nail trim done to your animal to have examination of $60 + $35 to trim the nails. Third and most importantly the person that I spoke on the phone didn't had any clue of anything; I was put on hold multiple times and from a phone call that would take 2 to 3 minutes I spend triple the time with that secretary making it almost 9 minute call. For future I hope that they have clear explanations and have knowledge of what are they going to serve me, the cost of $60 exam.

Stephanie Wood

The doctors and staff at Duke's Animal Hospital are truly the best. I have had extremely positive experiences with everyone here. First of all they notify you about everything in a timely and curteous manner. Second, they are always available to answer questions and are always kind and again patient. Third, everything is uploaded to a digital portal that you can access from anywhere not to mention they are super prompt to responding both to inqueries (they have responded quickly to both calls and emails). I have been to several vets all around the city and none are more professional, or genuinely kind then everyone at this location! Dr. Delia just performed by dog's teeth cleaning and kept me updated frequently. I was impressed, obviously, but everyone played a role in her procedure and I also was impressed by the main technicians were Corinne and Jamie. Finally, Nolan reviewed everything with me when I came to pick her up. If you want to go to the best veterinarian/ animal hospital - you need to come here. I'm not kidding. I have never been more impressed and you won't be disappointed. This is the best of the best! Thank you for treating my Bree like she was your own! Will never go anywhere else after this. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Juan Rodriguez

This is by far the most professional and friendly vet office in town. They are super transparent when it comes to cost. I would not take my puppy anywhere else. They also do have very convenient hours in the evening and weekends.

Vincent Elliott

This is the best vet clinic I have ever taken my cat to, and we've tried vets in four states. The staff is very professional and takes the time to explain each step of the process, whether it's a check up or a surgery. By using their portal, you can ask questions and get in-depth answers within 24 hours if you have any concerns. They give accurate estimates, and try to work within your budget. When my cat had teeth extractions, they contacted me every day for the first three days to check up on his progress, to make sure there weren't any issues. They provide you with detailed print-outs, including photos and explanations of what they are doing. Dr Gutierrez is exceptional, professional, and warm, without being "cutesy" about your pet. She treats you and your companion animal with respect. They will be our vets for both our cats for as long as we live in Chicago. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you so much!

Louis Hernandez

Dr. Duke is the best. I just wish they had open time Saturday's where you could just come in without an appointment

Omar Zamora-Viera

Friendly, helpful, good with the animals. Been going for a year now and definitely trust my beloved dog Mia.

Lenin Plazas

Having a chinchilla it isn’t easy finding a vet let alone a carry vet with a great staff. Strong recommendation here to any chin owners in the city. Great care and comfort. They really helped my baby boy stitch! Truly grateful to the staff and vets here (who are awesome and very professional)! 10/10!!!

Zan.

I love Dr Duke's animal hospital! The staff is so wonderful and helpful.

Thomas Schabow

They are great to deal with. Our first visit to them was when one of our cats fell ill. Unfortunately, we tried everything but in the end, had to make the decision to put her down. The staff and vet made sure to let us know all of our options, prior to having to make the difficult one. We brought in our other cat recently as well and once again the staff was overly compassionate and wonderful to deal with. With the few times we have now been there, we have not had to wait for our appointments either and are brought in right away to our room.

Amanda C

After seeing multiple vets in the Chicago area we finally found one we like. Dr. Delilah is amazing and Dr Duke will return calls in the middle of the night if needed.

Alondra Almaraz

Really great care! I feel very comfortable asking any questions related to my pets care and know I will receive thorough answers and care for my dog.

Aoife Sen

Great service! I didn't feel pressured by anything, they were very understanding and forward about my options and the costs. We will come back for all my pup's regular shots & stuff! The nurse and doctor were great.

Ash Cobalt

They helped us with our guinea pig when we were in a pinch. They also gave us important information and even looked up regular vets for us. They're absolutely wonderful.

Laura Helmers

Such a great vet! I have two cats and I have had such a positive experience with Duke Animal Hospital. They have multiple vets (and I have now seen all of them) and keep AMAZING notes about your pet, so no matter who you see they are prepared to help your animal. They are kind and caring towards anxious pets and also the owners! Free coffee and water, and the facilities are great. I am grateful to live so close and to have found them.

Claire Gray

I owe a huge thank you to all of the veterinarians and techs at Dukes Animal Hospital. They have taken excellent care of my dog, Felix, in the past year since I began taking him there. I adopted Felix from Wright Way Animal Shelter two years ago. The told me that Felix had been tested for, and was clear of all parasites the week before I adopted him because he had been brought up from Louisiana after being rescued from a highly abusive home. It turns out that Wright Way did NOT test my dog for heart worms, and he was actually severely infected with them, and I did not find out until his annual check up after I had him for one year. Obviously, when I found out he was so sick I was shocked. I had been giving him preventive medicine every month without fail. If you have never treated a dog for heart worms it takes about 6 months of preventing your dog from running, poison injections to kills the worms, several months of steroids, and a pretty sizable bill. However, the veterinarians and techs were amazing through the whole process. I really felt like a terrible dog mom, but they were fantastic and after an incredibly long process of steroids and shots, and lots of tears (all mine lol), Felix is now back to being a happy healthy dog. Thank you again to everyone at Dukes.

Beatris Ulrich

Doctors and staff are great. First time here. On a Sunday! They explain procedure and cost before anything is done. I have been to many veterinarians with my pets. Duke by far stands out. My cat needed hospilization, I felt completely confident in their care for her.

Garth Wagner

The best care and customer service imaginable. Everyone that works here is fantastic. We had to bring our dog in everyday for weeks for a crazy traumatic illness, we felt completely at ease from day one. The doctors and staff all dealt with her changes in condition in a very competent and professional manner.

Elizabeth Moreno

I had taken my rabbit to get her nails trimmed at a couple vets and I knew when I took her here, that I found a vet I would return to. I decided to get her examined and they were great about explainIng the abscess she had and my options. I don't have a preference for a vet or vet's assistant there because honestly everyone is attentive, thorough and sensitive to my concerns while being gentle with my furry baby. I couldn't ask for anything more out of my experience. They even have late hours.

Maria Robles

Took my kitties here and the staff and Dr. Duke treated them with much love and compassion! They will even follow up with emails to see how your "babies" are doing!! I highly recommend!!

Robert Falcon

Always a wonderful help for me and my pup!

Joshua Straus

The best Vet we know and we have tried many. Angie Duke DVM is smart as a whip and runs a large busy practice with long hours, fair prices and great care for our animal companions.

Charlie Benson

Ease of service keeps improving, great care. Appreciate everyone, drs and staff.

Katie Eaton

My first visit was spectacular. They truly care for your pet and make you feel right at home for a very reasonable price!!

Magdalena Lukawski

I couldn't of went to a better place! I was in a major panic about my rottie and they took me in immediately. The technician was so great. I can't remember his name but he was so compassionate, kind and friendly to my 135lb pup... I'm so grateful. He read my dog and responded so appropriately: he made him feel so at ease. Dr Santiago was insightful and suggested a lot of great options and remedies. (Everyone on staff was so nice! ... even when I called back with 100 questions) My rottie is newly diagnosed with high glucose and his insulin shots are still not regulated. He was weak and his sugar levels were dangerously low when I brought him in. His regular Vet is in the far suburbs so this was a quick and last minute resort. They saved the day. Thank you for the amazing and quick assistance!

Marc Benassi

Dr. Duke is an exceptional vet. We are so glad we found her and this vet practice.

bob Ewaniuk

Great team of staff there would recommend anybody to bring her animal to this Hospital

Daniel Yonan

They make my puppy happy

Jeremy Burke

GARBAGE

Anne Dever

Horrible experience with Dr Davis and vet tech, Jamie. We were referred here with great reviews -apparently from their visits with Dr Duke. Front desk staff was great but DVM and tech were extremely rude and condescending. There are so many good veterinarians around with "people skills" who do not seem to be afraid of large dogs. Definitely our first and last visit

M Goggins

Omg when my Baby Toby a lil Yorkie terrier passed, the kindness & empathy that we received truly showed Dr. Dukes excellent skills as a vet & overwhelming gentleness & concern for her patients.

Riley McGee

Lied to me about how much the appointment was going to cost. I called to confirm the price an hour before my appointment and when i was paying they more than tripled the price.

Susan Rae

Vet services and animal hospital with dedicated and friendly staff. Comfortable waiting area for you and your pet . Convenient parking . Highly recommended.

Rudy Popovici

Very good doctors !

Chad Ramsey

Great friendly staff. Place is super clean and nice. The prices are very fair. They take great care of your animals and provide realistic recommendations. They spend the time to discuss with you the different options and possible outcomes. They are very passionate and knowledgeable about animals. I would trust them with my pets life again and again. Postoperation care is amazing. They really make sure the pets are fully recovered before sending them home. All around great place, highly recommend!

Yordan Kelnhofer

They are so kind and helpful!! Everyone always seems to have a smile on their face. They have taken very good care of our kitty baby!!✌

Jeff Kocar

Very caring staff. Friendly yet professional. Wide variety of services. Reasonable prices.

Jessica Moloney

Visited a couple of weeks ago with our new puppy. It was his first visit to Dukes Animal Hospital. My husband and I weren't informed till after we got there and waited 30mins to be seen, that the vet we were meeting wasn't going to be our puppies actual vet, and that we may never see him again. We were told that we would receive a schedule of his shots later that day via email, which we never received. Two weeks later I called and asked the receptionist/possibly nurse to email me a copy of his records and shots schedule, and I was told "sure, but if we forget to send them just give us a call again". Needless to say, I never received them. I am still appalled by this response. It was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. Pretty disappointing! We decided to change vets.

Stacy Kaplan

Having moved to Chicago last year with our 6 year old bulldog we were excited to receive a recommendation for Dr. Duke from a bulldog owner in the neighborhood and also have this backed up by another veterinarian. Admittedly, we have yet to see Dr. Duke so maybe things would be different with her; however, so far our experience here has been negative. All three of our visits have been met with a long wait for the doctor. And I mean LONG - thirty minutes or more. Their care and concern for my dog is outstanding, but each visit has also left me feeling like more is wrong with my dog then what we went to the vet for in the first place, going so far as to suggest surgeries that our previous vet (a bulldog specialist) advised against. Today specifically, we felt our bulldog was being treated for symptoms of being a bulldog and not looked at as an individual. Each time we leave feeling defeated, like bad pet owners, and wondering how our dog could be in such poor health so suddenly when with our previous vet she was always seen as healthy. I'm at a point where I feel uncomfortable returning because I'm not sure what care is truly needed.

Joey W

Greatest one stop vet clinic. Your pets service animals or whatever will be treated like family! I have 2 shepherds who are high strung and they handle them beautifully. No bs about Price everything is up front. A huge bonus its they're completely digital. Youll get an email stating that ab appointment has been made, youll get a ecopy receipt as you walk out and they'll send you reminders of future visits. The staff is wonderful, the facility spotless and they have parking!

Elizabeth Dziedzic

I'm a first time pet owner. They help explain shot schedules, the care and treatment that they are giving to your pet and even help you find the right food for your pet. They even taught me how to properly trim my cats nails! So glad to have Duke Animal Hospital right around the corner from me!

Demetra Kopulos

FINALLY! A great exotic vet in the city. I've been to all of the vets that claim to see exotics and "dabble" and "oh sure" in treating rabbits, but don't specialize in it. The vets at Duke are great and actually trained and knowledgeable in exotics with a lot of amazing experience! This was also the first vet that didn't shove a price / services list in my face as soon as we got into an exam room before even looking at my rabbit or saying hi. Picky exotics owners rest easy, this is your place!

It is one of those hospitals where veterinarians don’t care about your pet, they think about how to make you spend more money and provide not proper information to the customer. They also don’t mind about your time thinking that you can wait forever. I came with vomiting dog for an appointment to dr. Devis and was listening about heart worm prevention instead and unnecessary additional vaccines although my dog has all shots she needs. I appreciate being informed about new vaccine but it was definitely wrong to insist doing shots to a sick dog. Take blood tests, ex-rays if necessary, suggest whatever is required to find out what causes the dog to vomit. It’s ridiculous to spend 85% of appointment time to discuss heart worm prevention and vaccines with assistant and then with doctor again, but only 15% the real issue and important tests.. I chose to pay more for blood tests so I could get results done in an hour as they assured, but they failed to e-mail me in an hour. They provided results only at midnight so I saw it only the next day. After my reasonable question what’s wrong? They told me that dr. Devis made such a decision after she saw the results were normal and she assumed I should wait. Why should I wait if I paid to get the results in an hour? I had plans, I waited for this results and asked for them few hours later.. It is not acceptable. Furthermore, when I tried to explain what did I give my dog to improve her condition I wasn’t take seriously, I didn’t see any reaction at all. I repeated twice but got no reply only indistinct sound “oh” instead. It seemed kind of disrespectful. I came for a consultation so why not to tell me politely whether my did was right or wrong? I paid you money for this. It is ok to share your opinion with a customer but it’s absolutely not good to display your attitude and irritation. There are so few thoughtful doctors nowadays who care about dog’s health but not about how to sell another service. I really hoped I will find a new clinic for my dog but no, not this place for sure with people who tends to provide false statements. I talked to three different employees and each of them tried to misinform me. Among other things, their prices are higher then other hospitals and they are think it’s ok to make decisions for you. The only pros was their front desk employee, she was amazingly sweet over the phone when I did an appointment.

The team at Duke Animal Hospital are friendly, kind and patient. Every employee I have encountered there has been very professional and efficient. I appreciate all they did for my cat, and I will be returning in the future for my pet's yearly check-up. Highly recommend!

Duke animal hospital has been my vet since I first got my two cats in 2014. Everyone I've worked with at the office has been extremely helpful and friendly. I also receive e-mail follow up for every visit and an annual reminder for their checkups and booster shots. They are also very straight forward on the cost of everything and are able to give you more "bare bones" option for services. They also file directly with my pet insurance so I don't have to be the middle man collecting the information and sending it in for reimbursement.

Dr. Duke, Dr. Delia, and their whole staff are excellent. They take excellent care of all our pets (Guinea pig and cats), taking the time to explain things clearly and help provide lots of options. The new extended hours are great for those working 9-5. I highly recommend Duke animal hospital for all pet owners.

I've been taking my dog to Doctor Duke for 5 years. My dog loves coming here! Doctor Duke and the entire staff is so friendly, they truly care about your pet. I have recommended this clinic to all my pet parent friends and each have raved about their experience.

I brought my cat here a few months ago because he had and still might have a skin condition. The doctor didn't know what it was and didnt help at all. We paid $220 for absolutely nothing! She even used my kid's safety to sucker me in to getting a $50 test that no one has called to follow up with. She gave us some general cream which didnt help my cat at all. My son and I both got ringworms so I put some of the same medication on my cat that we used and his skin is looking so much better. I will never bring any of my animals here again or recommended this place. A total waste of time and money. Update: Someone reached out to me after posting my review and informed me there was an email sent regarding my cat which I didnt see. Also, there was a phone call to me on my wedding day. I wouldn't know this because my phone wasn't on me. It seems like a lot of miscommunication. We were still able to self diagnose our cat a lot faster and should have saved our money. Still would not go back here.

Extremely friendly staff. I found a dog running around in traffic and brought him in to see if he had been chipped. Luckily they found his chip and contacted his owner and he's now safely home.
