I have been taking our 2 mini Dachshunds here for years. They have had numerous medical procedures done and it’s cost thousands. That part doesn’t bother me, I know they are expensive but when I leave I feel they got the best care. To me it’s worth the money. I love Blum and their staff. Here is why the 2 star review. Took them in for 2 nail grinds. $69 !?!?!? Blum, love you guys but that is absurd!! Kriser’s at Belmont and Kenmore does the same service for $36 for both pets.

Blum Animal Hospital always exceeds my expectations. I have two greyhounds, which in case you’re not aware, they have different blood chemistries than other canines, and they always take the time to talk about the differences with me and don’t compare my dogs to just any other dog. Even when our regular vet is not available, we still receive quality care from the other veterinarians and staff members. Thanks for taking care of my two greyhounds and making us feel a part of the Blum Family.

The staff was incredibly friendly. There were blankets with a calming spray for my cat I could put over the carrier, and my cat left with treats and a toy for coming for his annual checkup. The vet who took care of my cat, Dr. Krishnan, was very friendly and thorough. I will definitely be returning.

Couldn’t find a better vet! They have separate entrances for cats and dogs, a pet Spotify channel, and many tools readily available to reduce the anxiety your pet can have at the vet. Definitely recommend going there.

They really add a lot of extra touches to make the experience as calming as possible for pets, including separate entrances and waiting areas for cats and dogs. I also liked that they add calming scents to the towels used on the exam table, and offer treats - although my cat could not care less about that, I'm sure most appreciate it. A family member was caring for my cat when I was traveling and the cat became gravely ill. This is not my home hospital, but they got her records from my vet and made an appointment. The people here were kind and wonderful when I needed to make the decision to put my cat down. This was so hard, especially being far away, but they helped make things as comfortable as possible. I know everyone wants the “they saved my cat story...”, but this is a real part of vet clinics. And they treated me, my family member, and my cat with kindness and dignity in a very difficult moment. Just took my pup for a vaccination at Blum Animal Hospital today. The moment we walked in, the place was spotless, with separate entrances for dogs and another for cats. Attuned to anxiety the pets may experience, they offered (free) bandannas with pheromones for calming. The staff was caring and knowledgeable, relaying detailed information about potential side effects of the vaccination (which are uncommon). I would heartily recommend Blum Animal Hospitals for veterinary care.

Blum Animal Hospital is hands-down the number one pet hospital in the city, if not the country. They go above and beyond but if I ended there that would sound cliché so let me drill it down a bit... The animal hospitals (veterinary practices) could make our babies uncomfortable and nervous and they know their going. Blum animal hospital takes the extra steps to make insure our furry babies experiences are as stress free as possible (which allows me to relax a bit) they provide a stress free experience by interaction that’s unparalleled to anything in the city today, by giving hot dog bits, to cold peanut butter in Dixie cups, and this helps convince the dog this is a friendly place and it grows on the dog through time. They even make sure you have a private room before walking in if your baby has anxiety with other pets. Blum’s prestigious approach and state of the art veterinarian care, follow up and integrity is what sets them apart. P.s. they also have the coolest staff, best doctors, you won’t regret I promise

One of our concerns about moving to the city from the suburbs was that we would not be able to find a good vet. We love Blum Animal Hospital. Dr. Hudson is our primary vet but the other vets are good too. Dr. Hudson is very sweet with our dogs and really tries to make the visits as stress free as possible for them. On our last visit our Havanese actually took a treat from him, something he has never done at a vet before. In general, it is always possible to get an appointment when the dogs are ill and for the most part the appointments run on time. Dr. Hudson always explains the need for every test he runs and differentiates between necessary and optional expenses. I have recommended Blum Animal Hospital every time someone asks me about my vet.

I just brought my corgi to Blum for the first time, and we’ll be patients for life!! The staff was the most welcoming, friendly, and caring vet staff that I’ve ever encountered. They listened to everything that was going on with my little guy, treated him beautifully, and kept the cost down so I wouldn’t freak out. I’m always worried about vets taking advantage of me, because it’s easy to spend whatever money we have to on our pets, but Blum is clearly helping pets out of care and love. This was the cleanest and most professional vet I have ever been too. They had separate waiting areas for cats and dogs and provided my cats with towels treated with cat pheromones to calm them. Dr. Krishnan was wonderful during the appointment and even personally emailed me after the appointment to provide more information and resources. This place is wonderful!

Incredibly kind, patient, and caring staff! I have not seen a waiting room separate for cats and dogs but found the set up incredibly helpful for my shy kitty. They also had cat stands to set the cat cage on to put cats at ease. My nurse and vet were both really nice. My nurse sat on the floor with my cat to comfort her. The vet was really gentle with her, explained everything to me in a comprehensible way, and called me back with results in a timely manner. He told me to call with any more questions and even gave me an email to send photos with any concerns I might have while my cat is on medication. Hands down the best vet I've ever been to.

I recently went in for an appointment and realized afterwards that I had to have my car towed from out front, they were so nice about letting me and my dog wait in their office, use the restroom, offering drinks and really going above and beyond with friendliness and service! I can not recommend Blum Animal Hospital enough. We have a skittish puppy, and Dr. Cresswell was so patient and kind to her. She referred us to some good training resources to help her gain confidence. Because she wouldn’t let the vet touch her, Dr. Cresswell did not charge us for our visit and instead offered her some anti-anxiety meds to help during the next time. The staff there is so welcoming and loves to greet your animal, and we are so happy to have found Blum!

They are so quick to shuffle around their doctors schedules to fit in your sick animal and ease your mind. I am always pleased when I leave Blum and although I have moved a greater distance from their vet office, I still find them irreplaceable and make the trek to lakeview to have my dog seen by the cities best veterinary clinic.

Dr.Marks is by far one of the most compassionate vets I have met. She takes the time to answer all your questions even when you can tell (by the number of people checking in the room) that she is busy. The most valuable asset for a vet is trust, and Dr. Baker has earned my trust completely. She is always thoughtful, kind and thorough. She's responsive to all my inquiries and always ready to do what is best for my dogs (even if that means staying late on a Friday when I messed up and let my pup pull out one of her stitches.) The staff is also equally kind and professional. Blum is not the cheapest animal hospital in the city, but as long as Dr. Baker is there I'm happy to pay the premium to rest easy knowing my dogs receive the best possible care.

My dogs see Dr. Marks. My first dog died of natural causes after a significant illness. He ended up being treated at the end by a specialty vet but Dr. Marks was very supportive. This was my vet visit to Blum and I was thoroughly impressed. My dog is shy to begin with, but vets make her extra uncomfortable, however Blum goes out of their way to make it an easy experience for the animals. The staff at the front desk came over to give my dog some love while we were waiting. When the vet came in for the exam, both got on the floor with my dog and the vet assistant held a cup of peanut butter for her to lick to keep her calm and happy while the vet checked her out. Overall it was a great experience and everyone there was super great to my dog.

I took my little girl Carol here when she had a UTI. She's my first cat (first pet nonetheless) and this was our first ever vet trip, OF COURSE it had to be under these circumstances. I called first thing when they opened and their first concern was making sure Carol could get in and treated ASAP so she wouldn't be uncomfortable or in pain. Ladies, we all know how much it sucks having a UTI... Everyone there was so sweet, they really do everything they can to make sure all pets who come through are relaxed and well cared for. They treated Carol with so much care, she was hardly phased at all by being in an unfamiliar place and with weird folks she'd never seen before. As a first time cat mom I was so worried about her but I really felt she was in such good hands. As a side note, as I sat in the lobby I also listened in on the folks bringing in their dogs to board, and many of them had detailed medication plans, very specific food instructions, and each worker listened and took detailed notes, beyond that they genuinely cared about each little lady/fellow coming in. I'm so happy that I took Carol there and hope if you're reading this that you do the same!

I'm impressed by the large staff of ten veterinarians. The building layout is well thought out and kept clean. I've witnessed a lot of compassion, empathy and understanding from the friendly veterinarians and technicians working here. I brought my sick elderly beloved cat Billy, age 18, here. Billy has suffered from dental disease since 2016 and nasal neoplasia since September 2018.

I have been going to Blum since 2001. Dr Georgesen has been there pretty much the whole time. She always greets me with a smile and a hug and addresses my concerns with compassion and a sense of humor when it's called for. I arrived early for my appointment yesterday and didn't wait to long before Toby and I were taken back to the room. Toby got his checkup and shots and we were out in less than 40 minutes. I can't imagine taking my pet anywhere else. When I call with questions the staff is helpful and friendly. When I bring my dog for appointments it's always a very pleasant atmosphere (even if my dog is being disruptive). What can I say? I love Blum! They are the best.

It was our first time and we were very pleased with our experience. We got updated vaccines, a general exam and a heartworm test. The doctor gave us all the information about having a ‘city dog’ since we just moved here. It was also super easy to schedule another appointment (because the doctor didn’t want to overload my pup with vaccines and she needed more than 3). It was an extremely clean office, and the technicians made it super easy! We LOVED the “new patients” sign with the names of the new pets. Super cute and made us feel even more welcomed.

From the greeting when we come in the door until we leave they are unfailingly polite and professional. The vets and staff will explain things in as much detail as I need and are always supportive, providing options and recommendations for care. The practice is constantly evolving to reduce stress and raise the comfort level of both patients and their people. I cannot recommend them too highly.

My dogs have been going to Blum for the last 14 years (since birth). We never missed a visit and always had great care. We recently just moved out of state last month and our dogs are on prescription food (as they have been on the same food for 7 years) the prescription ran out during the move and rather than extending the prescription for us as a courtesy during the move until we could find a new vet they DECLINED. I could understand if it was a medication but it is their food, the same food you have put them on for years. To not extend a courtesy for a long term loyal client and to ensure the dog gets what he needs before he can be seen by a new vet is beyond disappointing. It's extremely expensive care for Chicago and to not make sure the animals have a seamless transition if they move is a reflection of the underline practice. $$$

We've had three dogs since 1988, and all have been well cared for at Blum. It's a fear free practice, and they are committed to the welfare and comfort of our companion animals. Coco gets a squeaky toy and I help myself to the candy jar! I can't say enough about both their expertise and kindness. One of our dogs went blind, and received the high level of care. We'd not go anywhere else.

I knew from the first appointment that Blum was going to treat my pup like family. From the people behind the desk who greeted us upon arrival to the person who escorted us to the room for Brando to have his yearly check up and shots to the vet, everyone was fully invested in getting to know Brando and making sure he was as comfortable as possible. Even when a recent emergency struck, it was near closing time on a Friday night and the staff welcomed us with open arms, took Brando back to be looked at, thoroughly investigated the wound on his foot, cleaned and bandaged him up without making us feel like we were keeping the team there late on a Friday night. I would send anyone with a four-legged best friend to Blum because everyone is treated as priority number 1! Brando and I love you all at Blum.

I recently got a new puppy, and was immediately referred to Blum by a friend. They were able to schedule our first appointment around my schedule, and we were in the office within a few days. Once there, we met our new vet (Dr. Warren) who was friendly, patient, and super knowledgeable about our puppy. The entire staff was warm & welcoming, and our puppy had a great experience. We even got a call a few days later from Dr. Warren checking in on Theo. We really appreciate the thought and level of detail that goes into each interaction they have with us. We're looking forward to going back soon!

I love bringing my cat to Blum! She's a very anxious kitty so I really appreciate the separate waiting areas for dogs and cats. In the cat area, many seats have side tables intended for you to place the cat carrier so they can be leveled and still be able to see you, which really helps my cats anxiousness. Overall, everyone here is incredibly nice, but Dr. Cresswell is so wonderful! After our first visit we received a hand written note which was really sweet.They really go the extra mile for your pets here, from making them feel as comfortable as possible to those little extra touches. I've tried two previous vets in the past (mostly due to moving) but I can't see myself going anywhere else now. We've been visiting Blum for two years.

I recently switched to Blum after hearing wonderful things from friends who bring their pets here. I was pleased to find out the hype is absolutely real! I was super nervous to bring my cat in, as he isn't particularly fond of other people. The staff at Blum made our appointment as easy as possible. I love the separate waiting area for cats, as well as the calm towels and free treats they provide. Dr. Melissa Cresswell is an incredible person and incredible vet. She took her time with my cat's exam and talked me through the entire process. She was informative and made sure all of my questions were answered. I also really appreciated that she made herself available and asked me to email her any further questions. My cat's condition did worsen a few days after seeing the vet. I emailed Dr. Cresswell on a Sunday night and she responded within 20 minutes. Unprecedented kindness! She ordered medication that I was able to pick up the next day and my cat is on his way to feeling better. Thank you Blum! Coming to the vet is never easy, but you make it the best possible experience.

I went to Blum Animal Hospital with my newly adopted cat yesterday and we had an excellent experience. The staff at the front desk are extremely friendly and helpful. The vet tech was quite nice and brought my cat tuna to snack on while he was being examined so he wouldn't get anxious. Dr. O'Reilly went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and to make sure my cat is healthy. Dr. O'Reilly called me personally to deliver the results of my cat's exam. I assume this vet is a little on the pricey side, but was completely worth it for the service we received.

We started off really liking the Blum Animal Hospital but changed our minds after about 6 months of service. They constantly referred our dog to specialists for thousands of dollars worth of surgery. The vet would spend about 5 minutes with our dog and we would be surprised with a $300+ bill for the visit. Eventually we went for a second opinion and was told our dog didn’t need any of these specialist surgeries. The Belmont Animal Hospital worked with us for days and weeks to find out what was going on with our dog. They have offered comprehensive care and communication. They always discuss the cost of any treatment before they go forward. Do not go to Blum Animal Hospital. They over charge for poor service.

PLEASE READ: My cat was very very sick. He had a random ear issue and then it turned into him not eating for days. Loss of fluids, lethargy, he would barely move. Consistent vomiting. I went to MedVet first and then he got worse. I went to MedVet again. After a $900 dollar bill still no clue what was wrong. ($1300 in total) I came to Blum. They did a diagnostic. They found out within minutes what was wrong with my cat. My wait time was around 25 minutes since I had to fill out paperwork. They specialize in calming techniques for animals. I’m amazed at how great this place is. They saved me tons of money and hours of lost sleep. We found a small blockage in an x-ray. Blood work was great. I can’t thank the doctors here for their work.

One of my biggest concerns when adopting Cliff only a few short months ago was finding a vet that I could trust. Blum Animal Hospital made this easy! From the moment I called to schedule my appointment, I was treated like a VIP customer. The receptionist was warm and welcoming. I actually needed to visit the vet 10 days before my scheduled appointment due to a small emergency. They were able to squeeze me in 30 minutes later! Dr. O'Reilly was kind, reassuring, and informative! She made sure to explain all procedures and get my consent ahead of time. I will be going to Blum for all of my animal needs - highly recommend!

This place is the greatest. Separate entrance for cats and dogs and if your pup is sick, you skip the waiting room and wait in a private room instead to avoid spreading the illness. They have treats, water, calming blankets with the pheromones, non slip covers, etc. They have really thought of all details and implemented everything possible to put your pet at ease. They also encourage random drop ins for treats and love to help your pet feel less anxious about the vet. The workers and doctors have all been excellent as well. Friendly and caring and patient. I love this vet and won’t go anywhere else.

I was very impressed with the staff and their coordinated efforts when I brought my dog in for a check-up. He's a nervous guy, and doesn't do so well around strangers and sometimes other animals but he was so relaxed and calm, I'm sure I was more anxious than he was. I needed a last minute rabies vaccination because we are planning on taking Indy to travel with me. My vet was booked and Blum was able to squeeze us in! We met with Dr. O’ Riley, she and her vet tech Matt were amazing! Indy doesn’t love going to the vet but they did such a good job of trying to make him feel comfortable there! She talked though his exam saying what was good and what needed work, which isn’t something any of Indy’s vets have done before. The other office staff was super friendly, the office was clean and tidy. Of course there were plenty of treats for doggos and even little plastic bowls of water for them in the waiting room in addition to treats for humans at the front desk. The cost of the exam and shot was super reasonable , especially for the last minute service we needed. Would highly recommend using Dr. O’Riley as a vet to anyone!

We had adopted a shelter dog & she had kennel cough. They gave us antibiotics. Over a few days, she got worse. We needed her to be seen urgently. We called Blum at 08:30am & were seen at 10:30am. Dr. Warren & staff took good care of us: kind, compassionate, professional. We were new patients but they made time for us. We are grateful. The chest X-ray costs were a bit pricey but still better than an ER visit & their charges.
