We love Upper Valley! They have very reasonable prices. They are always very helpful and knowledgeable about how to help our dog. Update: our dog was sick, we called and got an appointment super fast! Got treatment, and when I called the next couple of days about a concern with another symptom, the vet personally talked to me on the phone and helped me with the situation between appointments free of charge. Seriously, best vet ever! They really care about the work that they do.

I have taken my pets here for years and have always received great treatment and attention. All the staff are extremely nice and you can tell they really love the animals they work with. Kathy and Angie have stood out as the friendliest, happiest, and most caring of our pets and us. We have gotten our pugs and cat check-ups, vaccines, neutered, and kenneled here and they have always been well taken care of and receive the best treatment from the staff. I want the best care and knowledge for my pets and definitely receive it here.

It has taken me a bit to write this review, but I couldn’t let this go without one! We had been out at St Anthony Sand Dunes riding for the week when our beloved schnauzer of 14 years had a stroke. It was 11 pm and we had no idea what to do or where to go. One of the other campers recommend Upper Valley and we couldn’t be more blessed to have Dr. Kelly on call! Needless to say I was a mess by the time we had arrived, as she had several mini strokes on the way into town. Dr. Kelly was so gentle, kind and patient as we knew what the end result would be. He did not pressure us at all to hurry, even being wee hours into the next morning. He made everything very comfortable for our Maddie girl and let my husband hold her tight as she drifted off to puppy heaven. Being that we were headed home from our vacation we couldn’t wait for everything to finalize so Dr Kelly did whatever it took to help us make sure she made it home. Not only did she arrive carefully packaged, but we received a card from the whole staff days later. Death is never a great experience, and can come at the most unexpected time, but we can’t thank Dr. Kelly and the clinic for everything they did to help us make it through.

They are excellent. We always have trouble getting our dogs groomed; they get very stressed due to unfortunate past grooming experiences. These guys are very patient and know exactly how to treat our dogs. Their grooming prices are excellent.

Our cat had been throwing up for months with two previous visits to the vet and no progress. Brought him to upper valley vet in a panic as he became much worse one morning with no appointment. They quickly agreed to hold him all day and fit him in whenever they had time. They took such good care of him and even with a 24 hour kennel stay, several procedures, medication, and prescription food we only paid about 400 dollars. He hasn't thrown up since! We will definitely take our pets here for as long as we're in Rexburg!

Edit: I gave them another chance. This time I specifically asked about side effects and if the prescriptions would interfere with each other and/or the one she takes regularly. The vet assured me they would be fine and told me no possible side effects. 12 hours later my dog had a terrible reaction that left me in tears and fearful for her safety. I called their emergency vet who informed me that the medications were reacting with each other and to immediately stop the new prescriptions. This is a reoccurring problem and for that reason I'm lowering my rating. As a result of lowering the rating they discontinued her prescription medications. Original: I've gone here because its close and has high ratings but I haven't been too impressed. I've had a few experiences I haven't been comfortable with. Most recently I took my dog in and they gave her a prescription. A few hours later my dog started vomiting (not a big deal as not all dogs can take all medications). But when I called in the response was something along the lines of "we've never had issues with that before. But now that I'm looking it up, vomiting can happen as a reaction." They told me to lower the dose and continue the medication. I wasn't very comfortable with the seemingly lack of knowledge or experience. I did my own research on the medication she was given and found a lot of unnerving information. I don't feel like they informed me on the risks much less knew the risks themselves. Issues with medication are unavoidable at times. But I think they should have known about and warned me of risks before selling to me. I expect more for the price I pay to see them ($60+ just to be seen). With that said, I do appreciate their willingness to address my concerns over the phone.

I was pretty disappointed in the service and direction I was given here. I was quoted a price and it changed. I was told a healing proses would improve with surgery then told it will be the same after surgery. And then charged for follow up (post op.)Visits.

this is an amazing place! the veterinarians are very smart and know what they are talking about! they are incredibly kind and gentle with your pets! But the best part is that they listen and show a lot of empathy! It really shows that they care about the animals they are helping! From what I am aware of, they work on all types of animals ranging from cows to horses to cats and dogs! they also have to tarantulas right at the front desk! they sell dog and cat food at good fair prices and they make sure that you have everything you need before you leave! they also run annual sales and discounts which is awesome! So, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this place if you're looking for a vet for your new or existing animal!!

When I first called Upper Valley Veterinary Clinic I had some concerning questions about my beloved cat. She's quite old and she needed to get 2 shots and I was afraid getting both of them would be too much or overwhelming for her in her old age. But the young lady who worked at the desk and answered the phones, I wish I could remember her name she answered every question with precise detail and was very knowledgeable on what she was talking about. She made me feel very safe to bring my cat into the clinic. As most people who have pets know that pets are family and this Veterinary Clinic understands that concept very well and treats them as such. It was an amazing visit they treated my cat with lots of kindness and gentleness that you would want from a clinic.

He happily took my phone calls and talked me through some after care even after he gave her medication. I only take my animals one place, and it's here. Great Vet! They are experienced and very good with animals. We took our 3 month old Border Collie pup into have her shots and they were great! Our pup has been very shy and timid around new people, and the vets here were wonderful with her. She loved the doctor and warmed up to him in no time. That's great considering he was giving her shots at the same time. They educated us while she was getting shots and told us the next steps to keeping her healthy. Great people! I would recommend them to anyone.

They didn’t tell us what shots she was getting or a receipt. Also, the assistant was being a little rude and not very welcoming. Felt bad for the intern. They also did not ask for her health record to see what shots she previously had. New Edit August 2019: You are breaching confidentiality by stating my dogs name without my permission. Also my husband did not say a word because I had the health records. You also forgot to give my puppy the lepto vaccination and when we went to another doctor, they were able to figure out that the vaccination was missing.

Made me wonder if they just really like the brand and honestly suggest it to customers or if they are sponsored by the brand. Gave us a sample anyway. Nice people who truly care about animals though. I am so happy with the experience my pup and I just had. This is our second visit with Upper Valley Vet, and they were very accommodating with our pup. He is an 85 lb dog, and was nervous to be on top of the table, so they did everything with him comfortable on the floor! This place has been good to me and my pup but the store isn't always the cleanest. When my dog walks around on the ground in the store he ends up covered in other dogs hair. Would it kill them to use a broom? Other than that he has had all of his vaccines there and everything has been great.

I was expecting a lot more since this place was rated so high. But when I got there for my appointment, I was left in a room with my dog in pain for 20 minutes. The workers did not seem to care because of their comments about just wanting to "get this over with" so they could move on to the next appointment. They also tried to talk me into getting more vaccinations when I didn't know if my dog had already received them. I will be going somewhere else from now on.

I'm giving a review here, because I think it is time for the high ratings to drop. I gave this vet clinic one star because they are over priced. This vet clinic did proper care for all of my dogs, but I fear I have been ripped off for several years! A couple of years ago my dog had a tumor on his lip that needed removed. The vet Dr. Tew did the surgery which was not much more than removing a freckle without a word about the price. It was $600!! I have since asked other vets in the area what they would charge for that type of procedure. Most of them would charge $250 to $350. Now I am needing hip certification on my little female spaniel for breeding. I called a few vets in the area to price check. They all came back at $50 to $100 to do the OMA certification. I called UPVC lastly and as I expected the price was $200. I think this vet does decent care, but they charge through the nose. Do yourself and your bank account a favor and don't go here.

Upper Valley hasn't been our normal vet, their schedule just worked better than my regular one today. I loved them! The Vet and his assistants were so great and helpful. They answered all of my questions, and the best part is they didn't make me feel stupid for asking. I would definitely recommend them. They were so great with my dog!

Super upset we took out dog here because we wanted to get her the best care possible. The dew claw on her paw got split so we took her in to get the rest of it removed so it would heal. The vet told us that the nail would just fall out?!?! That was a lie, that sliver of nail is still attatched and growing which is causing excess swelling which led to infection , and now I'm taking her somewhere else to get it removed properly which should have happened in the first place!!!! Super upset would never recommend to friends or family

My dog got hit by a car and broke his leg really bad in the middle of the night. I called Upper Valley and Dr. Tew came immediately and patched up my dog and was able to do surgery within a few days. Dr. Esplin was really helpful on advising me what route to take for treatment. They were super kind to us both and took great care of my dog and let me visit him whenever I wanted. They were super attentive to how I wanted the treatment to go and they were extremely generously priced. It was wellll below the average broken bone cost I saw others had to pay in my bit of online research. I will never go to another vet, these guys are the best.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this vet!! They always take such good care of my kitty and they do everything they can to save us money when we bring him in! Last time I was there, we had our little guy looked at after being sick for a couple of weeks. They gave him two prescriptions and some special food and our bill was only $70 which is quite a bit less than competing vets in the area! We've taken our cat here since he was a little kitten and they have always been fantastic and affordable!

They were great to my puppy and gave us a ton of info about how to care for him. They gave us a small bag of large breed puppy food and answered all of our questions. We brought him back in shortly after our first visit because he was having stomach issues, and they gave us a discount on the visit because we had just seen them a few weeks before. We go there for our cat. The front desk ladies are so nice and easy to talk to as well as the nurses there. They explain things well so I don't worry when I drop my cat off. They are quick to respond and work with you as well. When we went for the first time, they were quick to give her the correct vaccines and medications that she needs, so I am very pleased with this place.

Yesterday was a sad day. Six weeks ago, we took our 17year old schnauzer Molly to Cedar Ridge Vet. We thought that she might have a cold. After the vet looked at her, he told us that she was terminal. I had my sixteen year old daughter with me, and the way the vet told us she was terminal seemed cold and callus. Immediately, my daughter burst into tears. When we got to the car, she said the way the vet spoke to us was more upsetting than the actual diagnosis. We decided that we would never go back to that vet. This last weekend it was clear that we would need to put our dog down. I called several different vets, and Upper Valley was the most kind. We told them that we wanted to be there when she was put to sleep. They made an appointment for the next morning. I went early to get the paperwork done, so we could get in and out quickly. When we brought Molly in, we also had our daughter with us. The vet came in and explained how the procedure would work. They let us take our time, and waited for us to be ready. After they put her to sleep, they let us have as much time as we needed with her. I will be changing where we take our pets, as I will never go back to Cedar Ridge. I would highly recommend Upper Valley to anyone, and that is where we will be going in the future.

Nearly every scheduled visit, however, it takes nearly 40 min to an hour to be seen after arriving on time for basically every visit I've had. A little long, but worth the service.

I went to Upper Valley because they were recommended to me so we did my puppy’s first exam there, spaying and first couple rounds of shots. I’m glad some people have a good experience with them but I didn’t. While I may not be trained as a vet, I have raised 4 Guide Dogs for the Blind from 8 weeks to almost 2 years old and have been around other Labradors all my life. So when my 4 month lab puppy stopped eating and drinking water while also having diarrhea, I rushed her to the vet very concerned. They acted like I was a bother but I begged them to just keep her for the day and look at her whenever they got a chance. They told me they would call me when they finished with her.... they didn’t. I called them 20 minutes before closed (and I dropped her off the minute they opened) and asked how she was doing. They said “oh yea, she’s done. She just has a cold”. You took all day to tell me she just has a cold? Okay. I picked her up and there was poop caked into her backside. They gave me meds and said the cold should clear up. It didn’t. Every two weeks for almost two months, my puppy had diarrhea. So I called back on a Sunday and left a message so I could get her in as soon as possible and I told them I really don’t think this is normal and am concerned. They didn’t call me back until Thursday. I switched her care over to Cedar Ridge and have been very happy there. The vet there took the time to actually talk to me, answer my questions when we discovered she had a food allergy and even called to follow up after we switched her food. That’s how you care for a worried pet parent! I also discovered that despite me requesting “every shot and medicine she needed” each time I went to Upper Valley (because I’m not a vet so I don’t know exactly what she needs), they failed to give her the heart worm and a few other shots. We caught up on everything we needed with Cedar Ridge and will be staying with them for as long as we’re in Idaho. Edit: The visit where I took her in the morning and they had her all day was different from the time they didn’t return my call. They were weeks apart. Don’t let their comment fool you, they didn’t care about my puppy.

The vets here are so kind! I adopted my first dog a while back and I took him here for a check up first based on a friends recommendation. I was able to ask all the questions I had, and I had a lot being a new dog mom, but they answered them all and did not make me feel dumb which I was worried about. We keep going back!

The billing was rather expensive. The vet didn't introduce himself, he only glanced at me once. My dog HATED him the moment he entered. It was my dog's worst experience of his life. Our wait time was over an hour because they try to overstuff appointments.

Best vet around. I do not live in Rexburg, but I travel to Rexburg just so my dog can go to this vet. I am so pleased and happy with the service I receive. They are honest and sincerely care about the animals. They always call to check up on my dog. I love that! I have to leave my dog there for the day when I have her groomed due to my work schedule. They do not mind and I know my dog is well taken care of there. My dog was abused by a breeder so it is very important to me that she is taken care of when I am not around. I know their employees care about her as much as I do.

I would give no rating if this was possible. First off I sent my 9 month old cat to be neutered and he came back with his skin hanging out of his testicles because they did a poor job. When I took him back they looked at him again and said they noticed yellow fluid in him and that he had really high blood work. They have never seen it before. You are not supposed to operate on a animal when they have high blood work. Any experienced vet should know this. They also didn't know a common genetic disease called FIP. Going through the operation caused my cat to die. They were not experienced and they took my best friend from me. Never go here they do NOT know what they are doing.

My dog has really bad diarrhea and is throwing up right now. I called this vet and asked her what we should do. I told her that I read online that it is a good dose to give a dog a teaspoon of pepto bismol per 10 lbs that the dog weighs. I thought that seemed like a lot so I wanted to double check. The girl on the phone checked her notes and recommened we give a TEASPOON PER LB! So I told her, "That can't be right. That would be 40 teaspoons of pepto." Then she started getting frustrated and insisted that she was right. The doctors might be capable here but DO NOT get advice from this place over the phone unless you want your dog to drown in pepto.

Every visit we have gone, we waited at least 30 minutes in a room for a vet to come in. I haven't seen anyone waiting in the waiting area and they don't seem very busy. After waiting, my husband goes out and they ask if we are done already, and he informed them that we hadn't even been helped yet. After waiting so long, the vet spent about 5 minutes with us and leaves immediately. This has happened multiple times, hence why I'm giving the review. They don't break down the charges if you are buying different medicines/things for your pet on your receipt, so I never quite know what was the visit cost vs each medication. Just haven't really felt like they cared about me or my dog too much from the various different visits. Probably not going back.

We brought our recently nuetured dog in to be checked while we were on vacation because our regular vet clinic was hard to work with and rushed us. It was easy to make an appointment here and they worked with our needs very well. We were able to ask questions and get all the information we needed.
