Awesome doctors and staff. We have been bringing our pets here for 21 years. My favorite thing is that everyone usually remembers my dogs' names which makes it so much more personal. Our wait has been lengthy at times. I undestand and would want the doctor to take additional time with me if it was needed. I expected a quicker greeting from the front desk staff, and the line was busy a few times when I called to schedule an appointment. Overall I love this place!

I made an appointment for my cat to checked for worms. I couldn't get away from work, they wouldn't let me drop him off and come back, so I had my mom take my cat to the appointment. They never verified anything about extra "tests" with me and the previously estimated "$60.00" turned into a $200 Bill. My mother only had $80 on her. She was taken into an office and interigated and threatened about the payment. Not her cat, not her call... would you want your pizza driver approving 10 more pizzas on your credit card?

I am very thankful to Dr. Petersen and his team for getting Garfield back to good health!! As a younger cat, Garfield loved to race around the house and get to the highest place he could find. He also loved to cuddle with his pal Callie. But last year, Garfield seemed to be slowing down. I didn’t think it was anything to be concerned about until he didn’t want to eat. Dr. Petersen discovered Garfield needed multiple teeth removed due to Resorptive Lesions and he took the time to thoroughly explain the condition to me. The day after the surgery Garfield was acting like his old self! He devoured his food and was tearing around the house. Skyline Animal Hospital is THE only place we take our dogs. We have 2 Rotties, and a Terrier Mix. We have seen a lot of these folks. From Dr. Peterson to all of the staff, we have been treated amazing. They make us feel very comfortable and our dogs like them!! We've been there for everything from diagnosing Zoey's hip dysplasia, and seeing us threw 3 hip Replacements with her, to pulling porcupine quills out of Sebastian's nose and mouth, and fixing one of Sebastian's broken teeth, to the little Tucker's ear infection from his allergies. We just love them and can't thank them enough for taking care of our Fur babies like family.

Have to be honest and say the Dr. Peterson saved my dogs life. Mal treatment from another vet caused great complications in which Dr. P was able to inexpensively identify and treat the condition. Furthermore, I feel bad for my dog because of my lack of knowledge about the importance of canine dentistry. My other vets never did any preventative treatment, just yanked out the teeth as they needed to come out. Now with an additional new puppy, this one will start of on the right track and be taken care of from the beginning. Which may be good and bad because everything is a chew toy, including his people.

Took my lab (Keta) in with unknown jaw condition in about 5 months ago. As a new patient, Dr. Petersen was very excellent to work with. In addition to getting her caught up on all her vaccinations, he was able to order and run the blood work needed while I waited to properly diagnose her condition. From that point, Dr. Petersen clearly explained, not only the medical condition she had, but all the options for me along with a recommended course of treatment and the followup appointments and test to ensure the prescribed medications were effectively treating her condition. Great staff and flexible appointments were a big (and pleasant) surprise from my previous vet experiences. Dr. Petersen is very passionate, enthusiastic and, most importantly, competent in diagnosing and treating animals. I would highly recommend the Skyline Animal Hospital to anyone in the Idaho Falls or surrounding areas.

Took a cat that we rescued from very close to death recently to be spayed and have a dental exam. Dr. Kooda explained to us that she had a severe case stomatitis and wanted to act quickly to remove the few teeth she had left before the condition got worse. She and the staff answered all of our questions in detail, were very accommodating, and seemed genuinely invested in our pet's wellbeing. After being home for a few days, I can already see a noticeable difference in our cat's personality and look forward to her living the rest of her life pain-free and off of the streets. We have now taken all 3 of our dogs to see Dr. Petersen. We purchased a pure bred Euro Boxer from one of our friends and after about a week, realized that he had an issue with his ears. Turned out that he was allergic to the food we were giving him. Dr. Petersen was very patient with all of our questions and explained everything to us. He also recommended a food that would alleviate the allergy and not break the bank. We went home and started to switch the Boxer and my 2 Shih Tzu over to the new food. A few weeks after switching the food, I noticed that the Shih Tzu were having issues with their ears, so back we went to see Dr. P. He was astounded that they were having the same issue. Allergies to the new food. He treated them both, again answered all of our questions and told us to switch them back to their old food. He also examined them and gave us an estimate on the treatments they need to get them healthy and help them live longer. I'd never had a vet tell me that their teeth being taken care of was so important. Unfortunately, my 2 Shih Tzu are too old for me to fix it. However, we know for our 2 year old Boxer to keep up on his dental health. I would definitely recommend this Vet to anyone and everyone. Dr P. was nice enough to help my daughter by letting her shadow him for her senior project and she found him to be a great vet. I couldn't have asked for a better recommendation. And Dr P has lived up to her glowing review and more. Next step is to get my Russian Tortoise checked out. I'm sure the care for him will be just as thorough and helpful.

Max and I took our cat "Tazz" to Skyline Animal Hospital last week for his vaccines. Dr. Petersen assured us that he doesn't use cat bags in his practice. We were anxious about this appointment having had two uncomfortable appointments in the past at another hospital where Tazz did not use his best manners by hissing and howling very loudly while in the cat bag. Dr. Petersen asked for Karen's help in holding Tazz while he gave him his vaccinations and general check-up. Tazz was moaning but behaving so much better than previously. He does not like to be restrained. Both Dr. P. and Karen seemed relaxed and handled Tazz with great care. We will continue to take Tazz there next year and highly recommend Skyline Animal Hospital to other pet lovers. The staff there was so efficient and friendly as well as being competent.

We had been bringing our cats to Skyline Animal Hospital (SAH) for ages until I moved to Oregon for about 10 years. After moving back to Idaho, we resumed care with my previous cat (who lived to be around 16 years old) before she had to be put down. I had no plans for another pet, but when my kids found a tiny, abandoned kitten, we returned to SAH as clients while Dr. Parnell was working here. She was my favorite vet because she was a cat lover who covered all the bases for our new kitty. Dr. Parnell even worked us in at the last minute to spay our cat when the actions of another clinic raised red flags that ultimately led us to cancel her surgery with them. Unfortunately, Dr. Parnell left SAH shortly after our return. Since her departure, I just don't feel like we've gotten quite the same level of service that we used to get from her. Whereas Dr. Parnell was always great about weighing, deworming, and thoroughly checking everything, I now feel like the cat just gets a quick and dismissive once-over before being sent out the door. The vet today didn’t even bother doing a deworming, even though the cat has had past issues with roundworms and tapeworms. Frankly, as any cat owner knows, hauling a feline to the vet is usually a traumatic experience for all involved. As my cat has feline herpes and stress inevitably leads to double eye infections, if we’re going to undergo the trauma of driving across town for this, then I want to know that my pet is receiving a thorough exam and that I’m getting my money’s-worth. But today’s visit brought no such satisfaction. And after being charged more than anticipated for a very brief and cursory exam, I’m starting to fear I’m getting gouged. For these reasons, I’m not sure if I’m going to continue with Skyline Animal Hospital anymore. If Dr. Parnell still worked here, it probably wouldn’t even be an issue. But the current crop of vets (who seem to prefer dogs over cats) just don’t seem to be providing us with the same level of care or service anymore. So I’m definitely going to have to shop around and make some tough decisions before next autumn. *Follow Up: My thanks to Dr. Petersen for his reply and effort to make things right. His responsiveness and willingness to consider improvements down the road are much appreciated. Thank you.

I had a emergency and when my normal vet was unable to get me in I was referred to Skyline Animal Hospital by a trusted friend. I called them and they had me in within the hour, when I walked through the door I was greeted by Dr. Peterson and his friendly staff and was immediately taken back to a room. The evaluation was spot on going through step by step what could be wrong with a 8 month old otherwise healthy female black lab. Dr. Peterson kept her throughout the day and over night and his test and treatments were given with my pups health as the first priority but also keeping a budget conscious approach in mind. At the end of the day his diagnosis was perfect she is back to 100 percent and although Skyline Animal Hospital wasn't my first choice it absolutely will be in the future, Dr. Peterson is exactly what I want as a health care provider for my working retriever.
