The doctors are great, but the front desk staff is not. Every time I've been in there they lack customer service skills. I don't think any of them know how to smile. This last go around I called to make an appointment and the lady was not helpful at all. She had a horrible attitude and only wanted to tell me what day's I couldn't get in and never bothered to tell me which ones I could. Then she said the only way I could get in is if there was a cancellation, so I asked to get on a cancellation list and she said they don't have one and I'll have to call back each morning. What kind of logic is that? It was a waste of time for sure. It's terrible because I like the doctors, but the first people you deal with are the front desk and they are usually the reason people don't go back to a business (me being one of them).

Dr johnson missed the enlarged lymph nodes on my mastiff that millwood found in minutes which resulted in lymphoma, she diagnosed my cat with an ear infection that had a brain tumor and finally misdiagnosed my yorkie with a prostate infection that was actually cancer. They left me an voice mail telling me the great news was that it was only an infection while Spokane already ran another test confirming cancer. I requested only a refund for the cytology that was incorrect on the yorkie which amounted to less than 150 and was denied. Unbelievable.

Money making machine. Called to take my dog in for a swollen cheek. Told no available appointments but would "squeeze" us in for a premium charge emergency visit. Amazing how they have time when there is extra $ involved. So took that appt at double the regular office visit. Given antibiotics for a week. Swelling improving and mostly gone but not completely. Called at 9:00 am for a refill of antibiotics. Was told the doctor will review my request and will call me back. No call back by 4:30 p.m. Called them again. Was told I will hear back by 6:00 p.m. No call back. Finally, get a call at 10:00 am following morning from the office girl. Told I have to bring dog back in for a recheck. Asked if she would they ask doctor to reconsider the request for a refill and if that refill doesn't work 100% then I will return for an office visit. Office girl tells me in a very snotty tone "No, I will not ask him". Really? You will not ask him? Who does she think she is to talk to a customer like that? I was not asking for a controlled substance and what I was suggesting was not unreasonable. After a few words to her I hung up on her and like magic the vet then has a moment to spare from his busy day to call me back. Upon hearing I was unhappy he says conversation over. LOL! What a joke. Professional - not! A true professional would follow up on the patient and want to discuss the patient and hear about how the patient was progressing, not leave it up to some office clerk to just make another appointment. They obviously don't want to help the animal unless they can get that extra $ bump from an office visit that really isn't necessary. Pretty poor way to handle a repeat client. Good bye River City.

By far the very best Critter Clinic that I have taken any of my pets to. All of the staff are super amazing, very knowledgeable about any procedures, medicine or food products. They all always say hello and will acknowledge your existence at the front counter even if they are busy with someone else. The Dr. that treats my critters when they are ill or need anything is truly one of a kind with a great sense of humor yet very down to earth when needed. I had to take Buddy into River City Animal Hospital three times, all of which impressed me greatly. The last two times, I met with Dr. Clovis and was so thankful for the amazing care he provided to my 11-year old dachshund, Buddy. The last time I took Buddy in, we had to reluctantly put him to sleep. Dr. Clovis and his staff were so sympathetic, and gave us every moment they could to spend with Buddy in between the preparations they needed to make. I was happy they set Buddy up with an IV, rather than just giving him a shot. When it was time, I got to hold Buddy, who was all tensed up with the extreme pain he was in. It was so important to me that my family and I got to comfort, kiss and love him while he relaxed and eased away so peacefully. We were given one more moment after he passed. I thanked God for Buddy and prayed for him to watch over my dear friend. The staff then took Buddy and assured me, "we'll take excellent care of your handsome man and call you in a week." Putting down one of my best friends was one of the toughest things I've ever had to do. However, Dr. Clovis and River City Animal Hospital were so compassionate towards Buddy and us. I would recommend them and only them for Veterinary needs. Should I get another dog, I'm glad to have the best Vet to rely on. I hope River City Animal Hospital Staff and Dr. Clovis read this and know they made a difference with my family, and most importantly, Buddy the dachshund.

Clean facility, caring and professional staff. Their love of animals and sense of humor shines through the whole clinic. Part of the waiting area is styled like a family living room, complete oversized couches and framed portraits of the staff and their own pets on the wall. The other side has a clean and fabulous kid area, perfect for entertaining your less furry children. You really do get a sense that you're part of a big, pet-loving family with this practice. The only thing that compares to the warm, fuzzy feeling here is the professional level of vet care they provide.

I would not send anyone here. They are just out for money. The way they treated us and the things they said in front of my kids about their cat were inexcusable. They attempted to have me pay for a 1200.00 procedure based on assumptions and I never even saw the vet. When I said I wouldn't pay that about of money not knowing they were rude unkind and unhelpful. My cat is fine and the things they said to my children, "when parents can't afford pets they shouldn't get them" not cool. Will never return.

We brought our dog here after being robbed by other vets in town. This place is welcoming and nicely maintained. You can tell the doctors are passionate with animals and the price is reasonable. The major difference is the dental care. We received a quote from our neighborhood vet for $500+ dental cleaning. This place only charged us for $235 for the same service. After the dental cleaning, our dog's teeth looked way better than before and the breath was a lot more acceptable. She was not able to chew on stuff before and she can actually bites something after the cleaning. We are pretty happy with it!

Haven't been there in three years, money hunger vets. First thing Dr. Luce does is feel the knees and says they need knee surgery both my dogs, the odds ? Not cheap. My daughter took her yellow lab in for joint arthritis pain, Luce wanted to cut the leg off. Five years later after a different vet dog still has the leg and gets around just fine. Took my Yorkie in for teeth cleaning and the intubation tube caused coughing for two weeks took her back in and they billed me 85 more fricken dollars for something they caused. They should close the doors fake smiles. Not true customer service. Must have their degrees from online colleges. GO ELSEWHERE. !! Greg Post Falls

I made an appointment for my 8 week old kitten I had just adopted to get her first shots and I got a call the day of my appointment saying someone else had schedule at that time after I had already scheduled and they bumped ME back 3 days. I’m a nurse and I have an extremely busy schedule so this made me pretty upset. I accidentally had to work late and didn’t get a chance to call to tell them I couldn’t make it on time to the second scheduled appointment and when I called them right after the time I was supposed to be there they told me they would no longer provide survive to me or my kitty. I am outraged. I will NEVER recommend this facility to ANYONE ever. I can not believe they messed up my appointment them when I call back right after missing it they deny me any further services. I was completely cooperative the entire time and I cannot believe this absolute mistreatment. DO NOT GO HERE!

We took our Yorkie in to have her teeth checked, which resulted in her having some of her teeth pulled. My understanding is that they put the animal out and insert a breathing tube. Since this happened...about a month ago, she has been coughing. When we took her in because it is not going away we were charged for something that was caused by the procedure or carelessness. This does not seem fair. Charge, charge, charge. We won't be back !!! I'm sure they are fine with normal things (which I would have thought teeth cleaning would be) but I would definitely do research and get a 2nd opinion. This is not our first questionable experience at this establishment. Be careful...they will charge, charge, charge.

This place has been my vet for over a year now and I always loved them until last time I took my dog there. All they care about is making money, and could care less about your pet. We just recently took my dog in because she had a vaginal infection, a bladder infection and one of her teets were swollen. When the doc came in she prescribed a topical cream for the infection and felt the teet. After about 30 seconds she diagnosed with her with a toumor and she said she was pretty confident that it was cancerous. She was very heartless about the entire thing and we told her that this "toumor" just appeared with the infection and that is changed sizes daily. But she was adamant that it was a toumor. She left to get the estimate for how much the surgery would cost which was $600 and asked us if we wanted to schedule it. I said that I would have to wait a week to budget and that I would call them. She said ok left the room and sent her assistant in to collect a pee sample to determine if she needed oral antibiotics (even though she clear as day had an infection) my dog was very nervous and couldn't provide a sample. They said that we could bring back a sample and they would prescribe it then. So my dog was basically going to have to wait all weekend for antibiotics. We went home and started applying the cream and her teet became smaller. After the weekend I finally got the antibiotics. After one day of giving her the oral antibiotic her teet went back to normal. So I called the office manager and explained what happened, explained how the first vet I saw didn't seem to care and asked if I could come in for a second opinion. They immediately told me "yes you can but we aren't doing it for free". Ok? They told me for $50 they would see her for a second opinion (mind you the original exam with medicine was only $65 dollars) so they didn't even offer a discount. I was extremely fed up at this point. I felt that this was their mistake and they needed to make it right. I spare no expense when it comes to my dogs so this wasn't about the costs to me. I called another vet in the area. I didn't tell them what was going on asked them their price they said $55 for a new patient. I schedule an appointment for the next day. He felt her teet and couldn't find a growth at all. I then told him what the previous vet said so he felt again. After about 10 minutes he assured us that he had no reason to believe it was cancer or that she even had a growth. So what would have happened if I had scheduled the surgery and the first vet cut my dog open for no reason? Would they have given me a refund? Would they have lied and said they did remove a growth that wasn't even there? And all along my dog would have gone through an unnecessary surgery? I know that misdiagnoses can easily happen. But this vet did not care about us or my dog. All she wanted was for us to schedule the surgery. She didn't care that this dog means the world to us and is my sons best friend. All we were to her is a customer. And the clinic that employs her only cared about their bottom line rather than caring for their customers. I will never take my pets there again.

My pom whom was 16 yes old was having several seizures with in 20 min. I walked in holding my my precious baby who was having another seizure as I walked in the gal at the desk looked at me and she could see that I had been crying big crocodile tears I told her that my dog has had about 10 seizures in less than 20 minutes they yelled back at the rest of the employees saying they have an emergency and they took my pup right in without any questions they were so kind and loving to both me and my dog sadly to say I had to put him down. they were very kind and loving and I am going to continue to have them as my vet. Almost a year and a half ago my poodle was almost dead, she was so bad she couldnt even stand up and not due to neglect, they did an ultra sound and found out she has an autoimmune disease. They will Nickle and dime you- we do not have a lot of options in the area. Your dog is sick and will see the dog- but if you want the sickness diagnosed, additional fee, and then if there diagnosis is wrong right there another fee for another diagnosis- they sounds legitimate?! Not at all. Or you take your dogs in to get diagnosed and set up the appt and they tell you when you are there well we don’t have time to do a proper diagnosis but if you want to come back and pay another vet fee we can diagnosis then. Seems to have turned into a pyramid scheme vet place. DO NOT USE!!!!!!

Have 2 dogs that I take here. Both of the vets that have seen my dogs really appear to know what they are doing and show genuine concern. I did find them a little less expensive that another vet that I tried, but I have not done any real comparison shopping. They always attempt to get you in if its an emergency, and they have long hours.

I also received a call the following day checking to make sure she was progressing in her recovery. Wonderful follow through! I know my cat is in good hands in their care. We are full time RV'ers and came to this area to buy a new puppy. The breeder recommended a vet to us. We checked this vet out on google and decided that we would never trust them with our puppy. We looked up vets in Post falls and found high reviews for the one on herborn st. We made an appointment and was very pleasantly surprised by the service we received. We have vets in nevada, mississippi, texas and one in Shelly Idaho that we like. None of these are more efficient, friendly and professional than the River City Animal Hospital. We will probably not return to this area any time soon but feel that the people who live here should consider themselves lucky to have this business available to them.

Approximately two weeks ago, we sped to River City Animal Hospital for our 20 year-old Min-Pin Duke who had suffered a heart attack or stroke. I was walking out of the house to an appointment when I suddenly heard my wife screaming in her office. I ran in and saw she was crying and tightly clutching Duke. Duke had been blind and deaf for a couple of years and his passing was not a surprise. I thought I prepped my wife for Duke's passing, but of course it did not help. My wife has been rescuing dogs for 20 years and this little guy was unusually close to her so his passing was even harder. I called River City on the way to the vet and briefed them. We arrived in the parking lot and a technician immediately came to my wife in our car, she checked Duke's vitals and confirmed Duke had passed away and she had a quiet conversation with my wife. I do not remember this technicians name, and yes I know it's her job, but I want to commend her for going above and beyond and really helping my wife get through this very difficult time. The technician was kind, understanding and led us straight into a comforting room. She continued checking on my wife, but did not check on her to the point of being annoying. The technician was professional and is a credit to the staff of professionals at River City. We have been using River City for about nine months after retiring to Idaho. We will continue to use River City for our other dogs. These folks have big hearts and in my wife's time of need, this technician and front office staff stepped up and helped ease her pain. A few years ago I took my pregnant kitty to them because while giving birth two kittens became stuck in her birth canal together and she couldn't push them out. I didn't have the $700 they wanted upfront to help her so they handed her back to me with a dead kitten hanging out of her. I took her elsewhere and she made it but the kittens all died. Heartless and greedy.

Unfortunately my dog was in an accident. I took her in on emergency on a Sunday Dr. Clovis met me there. His & his staff did an amazing thorough job treating her. She stayed with them for 3 days. My 2 yrs old daughter & i visited every day. The staff was so kind & respectful & even helped me with my daughter. This was a very tough time for us as we ended up having to put her down They gave her amazing care & made the experiencethe best they could. I know they did everything possible to save her. I would highly recommend this clinic!!

Clean, friendly establishment. Happy to have found RCAH after two other veterinarian establishments. Reason for 5 stars; My dog Chuey absolutely loves coming to the vet now. Last two visits were back-to-back. First visit he had two shots and liquid up his nose. The next day (surgery) he was super excited, starting in the parking lot. He couldn't contain himself he was so excited to be there. (They say they're taking him to the back to weigh and take his temp. I suspect they're giving him a mini spa treatment)

Frank Clovis docked the tails of a litter of puppies for me and absolutely butchered them. Had to take back a couple puppies to get there tails stitched back up because the original glue did not hold and they charged me a 2nd time for the same operation then within another day those stitches did not hold either making me go in a 3rd time! My opinion is that he should be avoided at all costs I will never bring any animal to him again.

Took my new puppy for a vet visit at RC Animal Clinic for the first time. He was terrified of everything at that time, but everyone who worked there were so great with him!! And the veterinarian was very nice and knowledgeable.

The office is rude. The doctor's are good but the prices are too high and I feel you are just paying for there facility. I cannot stress enough on how there office is unprofessional and just rude. They were my vet since 2009, since a few months ago I have gone elsewhere as my cat fell ill and when i called for a appointment they stated too busy cannot get me in so I stumbled upon another clinic who had never seen me before and got me in within the hour and I LOVE the new vet, as there prices are fair and the staff is pleasant and caring. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone unless you like to get overcharged and treated like dirt.

Have been going to this office my dogs whole life. He's 9. He recently had surgery. And a few of his stitches came out. I took him back in, and they stapled him.. Which was already a questionable decision I took a photo of the stapled incision when it was done. And one staple looks like it was going to pop out. The very next day, that staple popped out ,ripping him wide open. The lady at the front, kindly explained to me that it is MY OWN FAULT. And they want more money. To fix their screw up. This place is garbage. I'm absolutely disgusted.

One star is too much for this place the veterinarian are okay and seem to just “do” there job and the people who work front desk I don’t even know how you have a job there there rude disrespectful and every time you talk to them it’s a different story for example we housed a litter of kittens 6 total. 2 cats went to family and 2 went to another and we kept 2 All 3 families took cats here and got the same shots all 3 different amounts paid? On top of that they didn’t mention we had to get a booster for one of the shots 3-4 weeks after now both shots and booster have to be redone 280$ poooof gone but I’m sure it’s not there problem done with this place and everyone else should be too! Also anyone reading this should know this isn’t the first second or 3rd big problem with this place but the last for us

Went to this vet because my cat was scratching horribly, asked if it's ear mites or fleas. They said no to both and gave me an antibiotic for a theoretical infection. Well it didn't help, and despite what they told me, he does have fleas, so they obviously didnt check. And my poor cat had to go 10 more days without relief because i stupidly trusted this vet and went with the antibiotic. i should have gone with my first instinct. They are incompetent, and the whole time it felt like they were flying by the seat of their pants. This is my first time dealing with fleas, and yet I was the one who was able to diagnose the problem, not the vet. Useless, absolutely useless. And on top of that, the receptionists were nothing but rude to me the whole time. I would never recommend this vet clinic to anyone, not even to my worst enemy!!!

Highly recommend these these guys really got their a game on, they know what's going on, they know what's up and they have saved so many of my pets through the years so many times I do dog rescue and Rehabilitation and train people, and when I Rescue an animal I always take them there for immediate well check-ups and overall well-being they've helped me for many many years I highly recommend dr. Bryan Luce and dr. Frank Clovis they are the two of the top well Studied vets in terms of veterinary medicine in my opinion... they really know their field and I am aware that there are people that drive all the way from Montana just to see these two men for their Animals because of their track record and the work that they are able to accomplish with these animals. Theirability is nothing short of amazing I highly recommend them. the facility is clean they always find a way to work you in if your schedule is not acomidating they're always willing to work with you no matter what in my opinion. As I mentioned I do dog rescue my last little Doberman that I rescued they were I save him he has absolutely no immune system whatsoever and they were able to help him.
