I take my dogs in every year for a physical and shots if they need them. They always are very nice to us and our dogs. HERE IS THE BIG ONE: 2 years ago my dog passed from cancer. THE STAFF WAS AMAZING!!! The doctors, vet techs and front office were amazing to my dog and us. They were so kind in the hard time we were going through. I REFER ALL MY FRIENDS TO THEM!!!!!

AWESOME new vet! I used to take my pets to IPH, but their pricing and recommendations for unnecessary procedures has gotten out of hand, and their customer service is awful since Dr. Beede retired. I LOVE my new vets! Dr. Caldwell and Dr. Calhoun are amazing, and when I received my first bill for a procedure I had reverse sticker shock! After so many years at IPH, I was expecting my complicated dental work to be in the thousands of dollars, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Great followup by the doctor, really nice staff overall, and fantastic breeder vet for reproductive issues. I'm sending all my new puppy owners to them now. Thanks Idaho Veterinary Hospital!!

Dr. Calhoun and his staff are one of the best Vet's I have been to. He just did surgery for artificial insemination on my Lab, and I could not be more thrilled with him and his staff. He went over and beyond. Last time my Lab was bred I went to a well known Vet in Meridian, and the entire experience was questionable, not to mention, the breeding was barely a success. Although I am not too close in proximity to Dr. Calhoun's office, I will continue going there because of his and his staffs knowledge and the way they treat their clients. I can't reiterate how beyond pleased I am with Idaho Veterinary Hospital.

Everyone here is so polite and professional. I really appreciate the way they handled my dog when he was dropped off for surgery. Even when I picked him up he didn't look stressed and they walked out with me (I also had my kids) and helped put him in my car so he wouldn't have to jump up. He felt sick today (the day after) and they didn't hesitate to look at him again to make sure he's still okay. I'm really happy we found this place for our dog, and that's saying something since I'm very protective of him.

Idaho Veterinary Hospital is one of few vets around here that treat ferrets. The waiting period for a visit was reasonable and when our sweet girl needed put down it was handled sensitively and professionally. Do know ahead of time that small exotics are not allowed to be with their owners while being euthanized. This is a statewide thing, we were told.

They started seeing my dogs last year when we moved here. I had reservations as one of my dogs has diabetes and I had already gone through a few doctors that tried to take advantage of that fact. I heard very often "you have done this much for your dog, you don't want that effort to go to waste." I was doing expensive blood curves every two weeks. My dog hated it as she had to spend the whole day in a clinic cage and I hated the bill. The vets here are amazing!!! The first encounter they (Staff and the veterinarian) explained ALL my options. I tested out a new insulin that was 75 bucks cheaper and it worked just fine for my dog. They said no more all day blood curves if it stresses my dog and gave me other options. The vet said "I see a happy, responsive 10 year old dog, eating and functioning, let's just keep it that way." They explained everything in a manner I understood, gave me some symptoms to look out for that we might need to up her insulin for and sent home a happy puppy. I was just so impressed. I have been in many clinics and this is one of the good ones. Amazing staff that really cares about the animals, while still keeping the human in mind. They send reminders online and now have an online account for your dog so you can see your dogs record. I just love them. They have saved me hundreds of dollars just in the first few months of going there in tests and prescriptions and my dog is more happy and just as healthy as she can be. Glad my neighbor pointed me in their direction also singing their praises.

Dr. Calhoun and Staff, I am very happy to write this testimonial regarding my very first visit to the Idaho Veterinary Hospital. My baby Ramsey (Conure) was going to now be going on his third vet visit in less than a week. He clearly had a broken leg and after Vet visit number one, I was told he broke his tibiotarsus and was fitted with a splint that came off that very night and no pain medication was even prescribed. So I took him to a second vet who told me that actually it was his Femur that was broken and the prognosis was poor. So i did my research online and found Idaho Veterinary Hospital and we went to a 3rd visit not feeling very optimistic. As soon as we walked in I already felt better. In the lobby was a Blue Mcaw and in the corner was Wasabi another beautiful bird. I immediately thought to myself, we are at the right place. I can happily say my visit with Dr. Calhoun exceeded my expectations. He correctly diagnosed the leg break as a tibiotarsus fracture and the nurse took a beautiful x-ray clearly showing the fracture location. Dr. Calhoun expertly applied a wonderful splint and provided me with clear and precise information on what to expect in Ramsey's recovery. I will be back and Dr. Calhoun will now have 4 more new patients if the need ever arises. My appreciation to the whole staff is immense and the drive from Meridian to Nampa was definitely worth it. Thank you so much for all you did to help me with my Ramsey!

I don't even know how to put into words how amazing this place is. Dr. Calhoun has taken care of our dogs for more than twenty years and he is kind, honest, supporting and empathetic. We see Dr. Caldwell, as well. She is great. They both understand that pets are family, not just animals. We've had to euthanize several of our pets and we're allowed to stay with them as long as we need to. They also offer a nice cremation service, which we've had to use four times, but I'm not sure it's done there. The staff are kind and friendly, too. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I was referred by a friend who I trust and have discussed this with her and she says she has never had this problem... Staff and Veterinarians are GREAT without a doubt, but the wait excruciating. One, when you have an appointment it should not take 30 to 45 minutes later to get seen. Both visits now, I have a 6 month old male American Pitbull Terrier, and they leave you in the waiting room with dogs waiting to breed. Let's just say it's not fair to "Ruger" or myself to sit with other dogs that are waiting to breed. I will give them one more opportunity to get it right.

They're just as expensive as everybody else out there. But they won't put a guilt trip on you about your dog or cat needing this or that to have to have it done now. I'll tell you if it can wait. Will make you feel bad if you can't do it right now they expect to be paid in full the time of service and if you have problems you take them back in and they will look at them for free they do check ups after you've been in there make sure if your animals doing fine

Our little two year old Schnauzer mix started having bloody, frequent urination and we were afraid to see a vet because of the cost. After seeing these reviews, I decided to bite the bullet and take him in. Dr. Calhoun was kind, friendly, professional, and very sensitive to my concern about cost. He addressed it up front, letting me know exactly what they were going to do and how much it would cost before he got started. I was shocked by how inexpensive it was compared to another vet I had seen a few years ago on 12th Avenue. The service was less than half the cost and I felt like I got way better service than the other place. And this was for a far more serious issue! Highly, highly recommended. I will take all my animals here as long as Dr. Calhoun is in practice.

Our breeder has been taking her dogs to Dr.Calhoun for years. I took my new puppy for his first follow up visit with me as his new owner a couple months ago. The staff was very friendly and as soon as Dr. Calhoun walked out of the exam room with his prior client he recognized my puppy and called me right over. I took my Beagle in due to his itchy paws that he kept licking and chewing on. Everyone from the front office staff to the Doctor was very competent and helpful. Their love for animals truly shows. With the medications he was given he's feeling much better. I have always had awful experiences when taking him anywhere to get his nails trimmed. I can hear him yelping in pain and he leaves with nicked quicks. Not this time! The vet tech said he sat right on her lap while they were being trimmed and the bonus was there was no bleeding! I'll never go anywhere else and I will definitely recommend them to family and friends. Thanks for such a great atmosphere and experience!

IVH is always accommodating for appointment times. The receptionists are always smiling and welcoming and you can tell the techs really love animals. The Dr's are so knowledgeable and friendly as well. They took care of our lab up until he passed away, and now two Saint Bernard's and an Aussie. I would never go anywhere else!

I stopped in, in a state of panic. My regular vet was closed and Missy's tongue was swollen and stuck to her tooth. They said they usually don't take walk ins but had an opening and got her in within about 15 minutes. The doctor had to end up doing surgery that day to remove her tooth and we were on our way home in a couple of hours. They were they absolute BEST and I would highly recommend!

Dr. Caldwell is a big liar and is putting an untruthful spin on the facts. What she states below is not accurate regarding the facts and is misleading of my problems with her Veterinary services. It shows she never even bothered to understand why I am so unhappy. She disappointed me and failed to assist me properly when my dog Bella needed her help. Dr. Caldwell says her office "made every effort" to help. If that was true, I would not have to write this negative review. It is a blatant lie that your office "made every effort" to help me, and she makes more frustrating lies below. No Dr. Caldwell you and your office are 100% at fault and you should not try to blame other parties for your horrible service. The follow up by her staff was terrible and this bad situation could have all been avoided. Dr. Caldwell should admit her mistakes and not make up lies. How does she know anything as she was too lazy to even talk with me on the phone. All she had to do was send me the prescriptions via a .pdf like my previous 5-star Veterinarian did. When I visited Dr. Caldwell in person I discussed this in detail with her and frankly if she would have given me the prescriptions in writing or via a .pdf I would not even have had to contact Dr. Caldwell's office as I was in the legal time frame to have my long term dog medications filled. My dog has been taking the exact same medications for many years and it seems to me Dr. Caldwell wants to purposely make this process difficult for her clients in order to force more paid office visits and pressure her clients to use her over priced online pharmacy. Her staff kept promoting Dr. Caldwell's online pharmacy when I just needed a copy of my dogs prescriptions. Dr. Caldwell's technician did talk to the pharmacy I found without any help from Dr. Caldwell's office and because Dr. Caldwell refused to give me a copy of my prescriptions like I asked for multiple times, and her technician Megan was pushing Dr. Caldwell's over priced online pharmacy, when she talked directly with my pharmacist she did not approve my dogs medications like we discussed. Even Dr. Caldwell's response below makes it clear to the readers that you are trying to make this process difficult and force me to pay more money, when that was not required and was inappropriate. I Do NOT love my Vet. The office staff is confused and do not follow up properly. Then my online vet supply lost my prescriptions and Megan did not approve my new online vet prescriptions correctly. I can never talk to Dr. Caldwell or her technician Megan, so their service is terrible from my experiences. Now I have to find a new Veterinarian. Do not waste your time at Idaho Veterinary Hospital like I did. I told Dr. Caldwell that I will not accept a Vet that causes me problems with my dog and her long term medications. Dr. Caldwell promised me I would not have these sort of problems, however the truth is Idaho Veterinary Hospital is the worst veterinarian office I have ever been to as far as having my dog Bella's medications approved. They make it very difficult and a big problem. I gave my previous Veterinarian 5 stars and several other Vets have given me better treatment and were more respectful of not wasting my time. I think Idaho Veterinary Hospital should offer a higher level of service since they are the most expensive Veterinarian office in the area.

Best vet in Nampa!! The staff is always amazing, and they genuinely love our dogs. On one visit, one of the girls just sat on the floor with my dogs head in her lap just loving on him, and this pretty much sums up this place altogether. The veterinarians themselves are always really helpful, very understanding, and always listen to you and thoroughly answer any questions etc. I've never felt rushed or ignored, and always get in and out efficiently. This is a place that really cares about what they do and it shows. I cannot recommend them enough.

First time I visited this place with my dog for a routine check up we had to wait 45 minutes in the waiting room because they "lost our paperwork", then we had to wait another 45 minutes in a room because "the nurse forgot we were there and never told the vet." Recently I called for an appointment for an emergency with a small animal and whoever answered rudely told me they don't handle emergencies and they had no appointments available for two weeks. They then said maybe one of the Boise vets could help before hanging up.

Took Doober, a 2 week old kitten, in for treatment. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and SINCERE. Baby kitty is nearly healed! If there is any draw back it would be the cost, but....after reading reviews of the other vets and shelters in the area, I will return. I am a private cat rescuer and will be posting ads for loving, caring forever homes at their location soon-I have 11 part Persian baby kitties-mostly black, 3 orange stripe, who will need new homes within 6 weeks! Love This Vet Hospital. They are reasonable on cost, friendly and show love for your pets. We recently had to bring in our beloved dog of 18 years who was not doing well. 1st time I've ever had to make the decision to put a pet to sleep. They were Amazing, it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. They made us feel better by just being sensitive and understanding and re assuring it was best not to leave her in pain. 10 Stars that day!! Thank you.

Just started taking our two dogs (puppy and senior dog) to see Dr. Calhoun. Dr. Calhoun and his staff provide excellent care. Dr. Calhoun is thorough, professional and has a great sense of humor. He does not rush the examine and our dogs were very relaxed compared to other experiences elsewhere. Our questions and concerns were well addressed. Staff was courteous, professional and helpful. Overall, a great experience for ourselves and our dogs. Also, Dr. Calhoun did not push lab testing. He prescribed a medication based on his examination and then said we would pursue lab testing if our dog did not respond to the medicine. A conservative, sensible and greatly appreciated approach.

So I boarded my dogs for a long weekend with them. I left my number to get text updates got 2 out of 4 days. My mom picked up my dogs was told one of my dogs snapped at the other. I noticed that my one dog has a abrasion in his leg. I called and was told that Saturday (the only day I didn't get an update) that the dogs got into a fight and if I would like to bring him in they might be able to comp me an exam. I am a vet tech for a clinic that doesn't have boarding so I told them that I will just have my doctor look at him for no charge. No concern at all from who I talked to so I will not be referring anyone ever over here!

The Dental Doctor for : REX was very informative about the procedure... All the people and STAFF are just really, really nice... Granny and I could not all the costs for this procedure on one payment... There was alot of concern for... REX'S health due his teeth being so bad that that the ( People at Idaho helped us with a payment plan"... We were given a high and low estimate for the (Dental Procedure) based on how many teeth were going to be taken out... All of (REX'S) teeth were removed and the low estimate never changed we were just charged the ( Low Estimate) and a sist was also removed from (REX'S) EYE... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND (IDAHO VETERINARY HOSPITAL" to those who consider (REX), and there loved ones as (FAMILY)....

I was a bit disappointed with this animal hospital. I brought in my bearded dragon that I just got. He had a swollen wrist and was hoping for some in depth advice and help with my beardy. All I got was a 2 page print out of "caring for your bearded dragon" and a look from the veterinarian that said "I'm not sure what's wrong but heres a 2 page instruction manual because I font know enough about them to just tell you." The print out informs me of things I already know and am doing right now for my bearded dragon. I felt insulted because the vet kept asking me if I had both kinds of UV lightbulbs, if I had adequate heat for them, and if I was giving them a well balanced diet. Well of course I am! I am a vet tech myself and know about caring for bearded dragons I wouldn't have gotten one if I didnt know how to care for them, but I had just bought this beardy and wanted to get a health check done, because that's what you do when you get a new pet, you take them to the vet yearly and if there are any problems. I felt like a bad pet owner because of them and I felt like they were blaming me my beardy had a swollen wrist. I'll be looking for a different vet for my beardy but as of today he is doing well, and his wrist is better.

I can't say enough about how great they are at IVH. My family has been bringing our zoo here for over 20 years and they have been great. They treat all of our animals like they're important... from the hedgehogs to the huskies. They've hugged us through our losses and cheered with us when the animals improved. I highly recommend IVH to bring your fuzzy (and prickly) family members to for treatment!

My cat has been throwing up and not eating all weekend. Called to see if I could get him into the vet. Was told - sorry the first available appointment is next Monday (a whole week away). That's not going to work! I asked if they had a cancellation list but was told no they don't. But that I could call back and see if there had been any cancellations - really!?!? The lady I talked to was cold and unfeeling. Called another vet - he didn't have any openings either but said I could bring in my cat and he would look at him in between patients. I now have a new vet and won't be using Idaho Veterinary Hospital again.

Well after having to have my 12 year old baby boy put to sleep here at the Vets for one the one in very explanatory on the process of what happened after they giving the medication so when my dog suddenly jerked his head back and took a couple breast in about broke my heart and I almost fainted, so to the staff that works in Idaho Veterinary Hospital there definitely could be more trained explanatory on the process for somebody the first time of having something like that done and it's a very hard time as well. How's for The Cremation service it was wonderful very beautiful thank you guys so much. Once again if you do have to end up having one year animal euthanized make sure you ask questions and not get a surprise like I had

I am new to the state and was afraid to try a new avian vet. I was ecstatic to find out that they have a female bird vet because my two girls don't like men at all. Dr. Caldwell was VERY nice and extremely gentle with my Severe Miniature McCaw. I was pleased to find the costs very reasonable. I made an appointment for a checkup for my African Grey. What a great relief to find such a knowledgable, caring, and most importantly gentle, avian vet. It is about a 1 1/2 hour drive for us but well worth the trip. Thank you for the wonderful care!
