They took great care of our Max-A-Million! Just the kindest, nicest people ever!

Sami Sellman

They would rather my dog get an infection or worse because they don’t want to treat his nail. Vet wouldn’t even stop leaning on counter to even look at my dogs dangling nail. Be careful who you see here I feel this vet has no clue what she is doing and dislikes doing the work she went to school for. Also two dogs had ring worm in the facility with no care to keep them away from the healthy animals coming in. So now I will be going to another vet because I can’t trust them to not do harm and or even help my poor dog who’s in pain. Also on top of that there are bugs on there floor so make sure you take precaution I held my dog the entire time. I WON’T step foot in this clinic again!

Christina Hawkins

My family and I had to take my kitty in this last weekend to be put down. I was concerned about how it would go, but everything was handled perfectly, and my cat went out feeling loved and looked after. I truly appreciate everything they did for us.

derek sorum

I hate this place.. only because everytime we go my wife has some sort of other animal she has to get. I have had to give up my room to all the cats we get. And the other thing that sucks is if they get sick.. they actually have a vet on site that takes care of the animals as well... great so i get healthy pets and good mannered pets.. what a rip

Allison Power

Easy adoption process. They were up front about all the medical work for our dog and handed over all necessary paperwork. Friendly, caring staff

Alyson Balls

Idaho Humane Society has let me down, lost my trust and possibly the community. Here I am thinking IHS wanted the best for our pets, but now I’m not so sure. A week ago I saw a post on the Treasure Valley missing pets page about a collared cat that was trapped and dropped off at IHS. Right then and there I wondered if they’d do the right thing and return the cat or simply adopt her out. A week later, another post was made from the owner explaining how IHS adopted her out and that the new owners refuse to give her back

Terry Ivie

Love this place. People and doctors are soooo nice!!

K9 Shepherd

Great place to find a forever pet. There veterinarian care is top of the line and affordable.

Michael Copenhaver

Really great people helping our furry friends. My only complaints is that I can't take all the dogs home. They are all so adorable and my heart aches to see them sitting there just wanting love.

Honest Review

Should take care of the dogs a bit better. Also overpriced for the little care they receive.

Madison D

This place is discusting and not a place anyone should help or volenteer at under any condition, the only concern is money, they get more money for a dead dog then a live one, and within a day of foster kittens being put in their care they killed every last one of them with no reason to their murders, no reason given, no explanation. The people who operate this poor excuse of a shelter are nothing short of cruel and sick, killing anything they can to earn more money to fill their own greedy pockets without a care for the animals that they murder for money or the happy life that animal could have lived.

Jill Anderson

Good people doing good work for our beloved animals.

Amber Thomas

Great place to check if you are looking for your new best friend. Lots of dogs to choose from. The website isn't always up to date

Brooke McAvoy

They found our runaway kitty and got her back to us safe and sound

Lisa Burger

The staff did well with our fur baby yesterday.. She was spayed. We brought her in a box and she went home in a kennel.. I told the girl we brought her in a box..they said the kennel is given to us . She is loved..Thank you..

Nicholas Carter

Me and my wife enjoy going to the shelter on the weekends. We go simply to love on the animals and be their friends until they find their forever homes. The facility is general well taken care of. I've got absolutely zero "real" complaints but if I had to find something wrong it would be awesome if more dogs were available for handling even before they are ready for the adoption papers to be signed. Regular people like me and my wife would be happy to help the dogs new to the shelter, become adjusted to the shelter life.

Brittney Langdon

They took great care of my sweet dog Maxx when he had to have some teeth pulled. Staff was kind and personable and professional. Pricing is fair and up front. Thank you IHS for taking care of my sweet little buddy!

Patty Cruz

Really good price but if you don't have an appointment to see the vet it's about 2 and half hours long

Brie Sword

I love this place due to the animals that are in there. I wish the prices were lower and I actually had my own house with yard.

Jaime English

Terrible no one would help me everytime I asked someone they send back and said ask them then ask they would say go ask the people I just asked. So frustrating cuz really wanting a dog and when they refuse to help you everytime you ask makes it hard to adopt an animal. Guess I have to go to nampa. The foster people never text back either. To the person who responded I went to the actual shelter to find out about the dog and no one would help me there either and kept sending me back and forth. I'm in a wheelchair and really wanting needing a good companion and service animal, but no one at shelter would help me and kept sending me back and forth to each other. Also I sent several emails over and over and over and so did my daughter. I understand people get busy and that's why I kept being persistent and emailed regularly and still no response ever and stil now no response. Then go to shelter to find out if that dog is available and they did the exact same thing and wouldn't help me. There was even a lady at the front no one in her line or at her desk and she refused to help me. Went to the back where the people work by the dogs and same thing. By the way the dog is still available and has been for awhile and looked again today and she still available. This dog has been with yall for awhile and I guess the foster people dont want to get rid of her and they just need to take her down if they arent going to let no one adopt her.

Andrew Escarsega

My friends dad gave away his dog and cat as a form abuse, and IHS was really helpful in getting them back and to better homes where they can be safe and where he can visit them

Jun Kazama

Decent place. They help animals.

Kyle Gibson

Great place! Adopted my dog back in Nov. 2018 and was a very good experience.

A M

I was in the clinic earlier today and I witnessed a couple treating the front desk employees unfairly. The front desk employees handled it very well even when this couple was yelling and saying awful things towards them-especially Kaitlyn (I believe that is her name). I just wanted to say that the customer service was exceptional considering how awful that couple was being. As a community we are lucky to have the Idaho Humane Society. They are always there to help low income families-rude or not. I hope that the majority of people finding themselves at the vet clinic needing help are more considerate than what I saw today. I know I am very appreciative for the help I received today.

CompletelyUnseen Tuber

Much better than West valley Humane society. cleaner, friendlier management, and they don't make up the prices for animals based solely on breed and how much money they can make.

Jeff Carter

Adopted one of my best friends there. Also dropped off a stray I couldn't home. Was heartbreaking. Can't say enough for how this place changes lives... people and pets!

Teresa Boettger

Sad to see so many babies in cages. Please adopt and spay.

Virginia Ilett

My and my pitties experience was one of great acceptance and caring from all the staff and doctor. My dogs were very at ease and felt extremely comfortable during their visit. Thank you for making us feel so at home and welcome. You are very much appreciated and all that you do.

Lucas Ashley

Everyone is extremely nice and all the animals seem very well taken care of by staff

BK La

After reading some of the reviews and comparing that to my own experiences I have come to the conclusion that some people just like to complain. The last time I was in there was a lady creating a scene and was being incredibly rude to the front desk lady. It made me uncomfortable and my heart went out to the employee. She tried to explain everything but this lady wouldn’t have it. That lady then wrote a review saying that the employee was rude to her all because she didn’t want to take responsibility for her cats. I am low income and every time I bring my pets in they are always willing to help me. It all comes down to whether you are willing to help your pet. The Humane Society is a nonprofit so expecting them to give you free service is like stealing from the poor. When you say that they are rude or they don’t care, could that be that you are stubborn in your own way and refuse to listen when they try to explain things? They are the only clinic in the Treasure Valley that offers discounts and payment plans. Why are you complaining about their prices? Any other clinic would tell you “Good Luck” and show you to the door.

Angela Leas

All the animals are good to take home

Amber Hawton-Hill

They have great prices, friendly staff, and great areas to bond with a potential adoptee.

Jennifer Jones

Lots of lovable kittens to adopt. Didn't find a dog today!!

Naturally Potions

Adopted a sweet one eyed kitty. They took very good care of her.

Kathy MacLaren

I went in on Sunday and had to wait a while but they did a great job once we got in.

Jule Eberle

Absolutely excellent people. I rescue critters and I mostly get cats. IHS works with me in every manner, shots, spay, neuter and vet care. AWESOME!!

Terri-Anna Ollivierre

They sent my cat hime with warmites, which they sid was checked by for doctors. They misdiagnosed it as an ear infection. My cat was miserable.I even suggested the ear drops that they could give to him, which they refused to do. When I took him back, they had a nasty attitude, said I could never bring him back to the clinic ever again. I took him to another Vet that day....he was full of earmites, that Vet Visit costed me $175.00. I took the paper-work back to them. I never even got an apology!

L Miller

It was busy at the time we came. But the facility was very clean and there are rooms and an outdoor area for people to get to know their dogs. The front desk staff are very helpful though the kennel staff were not so much.

Bradley Williams

Fostering a 2 week old kitten. Was not expecting the joy it gives me. The staff has been very kind and supportive

Irene Dailey

I found my fur ever puppy here and he's super sweet and lovable. I recommend this place for all of our adopted furry friends

Frankwin Hooglander

Great experience. Quick service

Becky Shambley

The customer service and compassion are top notch. They handled the euthanasia of my elderly cat with every amount of kindness I could hope for. I will be returning soon to finish my service dog's shots and to put my two elderly rescue dogs to sleep. I have every faith in them.

Malikzs1

I was trying to find a cat, and I met this very cute 5month old white, gray, and black cat. I loved it, I just couldn't adopt it that day, which was kind of sad. They let people pull out some of the cats to hold them and get acquainted, with the dogs you have to get one of the stuff. I remember being at an animal shelter yrs ago and they didn't let any pet out of the cage unless if it's the one you were interested in to possibly adopt... it's a cool little place over at the humane society, you can take lessons too.... I know I'm going to have to. Lol.

Travis Studebaker

Its a nice shelter, they seem to do well with keeping kennels and cages clean. Some of the volunteers seem unclear on what patrons are/are not allowed to do. Some volunteers can be pretty rude. The prices are the highest I've seen at other shelters.

Theresa Rich

It was so nice that we got to spend alot of time knowing our

Anita Mitchell

Had to wait two hours in line but services are great

Ayla Snow

The lady who helped me was awesome, really kind and helped me with any information I had questions about! My cat was cared for and was feeling better in no time.

Patti Oliver

On a Monday in later August this year (2019), I stopped in on my way home to see if you might have a nice female lab or lab mix to become a companion for my female Golden Retriever. I had not been able to find a good match in my home state of OR in our local shelters here because of an overwhelming amount of pit bull dogs, which I am seriously not into for various reasons I won’t go into. When I arrived at your shelter, I was directed to the main kennel area, and saw Chrissy, who is about 7-8 years old, and was surrendered to the shelter after having been with a family for 5 years. She looked very sad as she laid on the floor with her head between her paws with her back turned away. I was able to have a meet and greet outside with her and discovered what a really sweet dog she is, and I gave her my heart and adopted her right then. We drove home the rest of the way home together and introduced her to our Daisy and they were instantly became fast friends. It’s been over a month now, and they are inseparable and really like each other very much. It took a little time for Chrissy to get over her sadness of being abandoned by her family, but with patience and understanding, she’s come out of her depression and become a wonderful part of our family and we love her very much. She will never find herself alone in a shelter ever again! We are working on bringing her weight down some, as she is fairly overweight, but Daisy has her moving, running, and playing again, and her special weight loss diet is starting to show results. Thank you for allowing me to adopt this wonderful soul and giving her a second chance at finding love and care with us. She has her forever home now.

I have gotten all of my dogs from here and they are all amazing. All of my dogs have come healthy and cared for. This Humane Society does a great job at giving pets an opportunity to be loved again. I love this place with all my heart. Adopt don’t shop!

Brendon Wright

The animals were great. They let you take the dogs out and walk around a small yard behind the building on a leash, and there are small fenced-off areas for the dogs to run off the leash. The Cattery is great for cat people; you can pull the cats out of their cages and hold them, or just reach in and pet them. They also have small side rooms for you to have one on one interactions with the animals you're interested in.

Leif

Amazing and friendly caring staff. I have adopted all my animals from IHS. they are such caring people and we always received any help we needed. thank you for helping the animals in our community

Grace Ocker

Nice place to adopt animals. They have a center for cats and kittens where you can take them out and pet them to see if it’s the right pet for you. They also have a dog area which is a bit more depressing because the dogs are either whining or barking but you are allowed to take dogs out to see how they are and if you like them. Only issue is one time a dog peed through the fence getting it all over the floor and no staff cleaned it up for the time I was there which was for about an hour. Besides that, the staff are really friendly and helpful. They show a true passion for caring and helping these animals to make sure they go to the right home.

Grant Anderson

Very helpful staff. The facilities are clean and well maintained with a great area to interact with the dogs.

Tina Lofton

Organized, friendly and definitely care for the animals well being.

Bethany Baker

I adopted my baby from here two weeks ago. She's perfect and loved so much. Everyone at IHS was so kind and helpful. I'm very blessed.

David Pistole

Friendly and most loving with our pets. Keep up the great work.

Marty Muniz

Very nice staff we did have to wait longer than expected but understandable they are very busy with walk-in clinic.

Stacey Budell

Great place to take your pet for vet services

Stephany Erwin

They had my dog and I was happy that he was safe and sound. I felt that the fine was way to much.

Letia

I love this place. The Vet clinic is wonderful

B. Anderson

The greatest place in Boise. They are all completely dedicated to helping animals get adopted and giving medical care. ❤ I want to thank everyone there for the love and help they give to our wonderful pets that are our best friends.

Robi Wynia

My daughter went here for a community service project for school. She enjoyed being able to spend the time with the animals but didn't like having to spend her time cleaning their offices.

Crystal G

I will always be happy to contribute to the Idaho Humane Society. They’re a blessing to our community!

Luna Jantz

The Humane Society is there for the animals not the people, taking the very best care for the animals. So busy and so full but there is plenty if people there to help you find what you want and to awnser plenty of questions. The Idaho Humane Society is an amazing place and I love volunteering there!! If you want to play with the cats and dogs I encourage to volunteer, there's never to many volunteers!!!!

Johnny Manning

The only good thing that has came from there that I know of is my precious Syler. That's where I got my service animal and he is a delight he is the best dog I've ever seen in my life and I'm not just saying it because he's mine but every time I go there the people are snobby they are not good to their clients and one time I got accused of stealing something that I didn't steal they accuse me of stealing a thermometer but anyway they should work on their customer service big time

JuliAna Wasko

Weve adopted from the Humane Society twice and had a great experience Everytime

Loree

My dog of 9 years was sick, we took her to my vet. They said they probably couldn't save her but they needed 2000.00 up front to even try! My heart was broke. She's my family! Annie goes everywhere w/me! Someone suggested taking to the vet at the shelter. They saved her! She's like my baby puppy again. I'm so happy, with the care and professionalism as well as being able to work with the physical part. We can't thank you enough ! I'm so grateful! ANNIE

Don Belmer

Not helpful while doing paperwork animal left laying on floor and it died, while they argued, instead of checking animal out, sad.

Mitsey Simmons

Love them take excellent bcare of my baby

Moderately Entertaining

We adopted a kitten last weekend and she came down with a cold through the week. We called earlier today and got a free clinic visit because it hasn't been 2 weeks since we got her, and they also discounted her medicine! It's only been a couple of hours but she's already breathing much better.

Jj Heg

Dogs seemed to need more attention but cat area was great

Lisa Lam

I got a border collie mix puppy from a friend, but unfortunately, I had to surrender him in hopes that he would find his forever home. As soon as I walked into the facility stating that I was surrendering the pup, everyone gave me these eyes that was very judgmental. It made me very uncomfortable and one if the girls that was helping me was quite rude. It gave me an uneasy feeling and because of that, I will never return. Nobody deserves to be judged.

Andrew Miller

These people are amazing! Patient and kind and make the adoption process easy. There was a staffing issue - I assume they are understaffed and underpaid. I was so frustrated with how many pit bull tarriers there were. As well as all forms of terriers, and sheep dogs, with a lab or two thrown in. People PLEASE learn about the bread BEFORE! You adopt take or buy a puppy. All terriers are smart, active and curious. Amazing dogs but DIFFICULT to train cuz they are smart and will full. Sheep dogs are active and need a job and space and exercise! If you can't reliably provide theses things don't buy or bread a dog. We didn't adopt a beautiful and wonderful Dog because we were not confident in our ability to meet there needs. Responsible dog ownership means saying no to the cute face sometimes. Ok rant ended Thank you to IHS for caring for these Adorable outcasts. When my kids are grown we will be adopting a pit bull mix like Jasmine for sure!

felicia howard

Fast, friendly service. Doctor Anderson was very helpful and educational. I hope we get her when we come back!

Teresa N

Very saddened by this place. I adopted a cat. Fell completely head over heels in love with her. I had her a total of 4 days and she became very sick. The doctor was great. I had to surrender her because of her sickness. The doctor told me to pick another one. I went to the catty and fell for a kitten. No sign saying this kitten could not be adopted. I was refused when asked to adopt this kitten. SHAME on you IHS. I walked out without a kitten or cat. I won't bother coming back just to be rejected.

Dyan Mcc

I found a stray and took it to the shelter. The staff there were very sympathetic to the animal's plight. They truley care about the animals.

Jer's New Life; Balls 2 the Wall!

I lost my cat Rosie when I was in jail! They not only saved her life from rabies, from a squirrel bite, they held on to her for me, And gave her back to me.. this all happened during the holiday season as well. What a wonderful Christmas present! Merry Christmas to all you staffers at the Idaho humane society and thank you so very much. You all saved my life as well!!!

Robert Miner

Honestly some of the worst service in the valley... they will actually turn injured dogs away a full hour before they close if they feel it might put them slightly over closing.

Kala Fowler

They great but the Vet literally never answers the phones and never calls you back. I've left messages about serious concerns about my pet and get no response.

Judy Longstaff

Most caring n professional people. Been bring my dogs for 20 yeats. Senior low income discount helps me so much!

Cristy Johnson

Adopted our new family member!! Adoption process was easy. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very willing to help.

Desiree Camarena

It's a fun place to bring the kids to play with the cats and dogs and not have to take any home. Of course if I were allowed a dog where I live, I'd get one here. It would also be a cool place to volunteer when my kids are old enough.

Dave McCuen

These guys do a GREAT job. We were looking to adopt a cat. The gal there was just so helpful a day very very patiently and cheerfully explained the process to us. It was just a great experience all the way around.

Christopher Hudspeth

My puppy Robbie was seen here and they did everything they could to save him but he passed on. This place is great, friendly, helpful, and kind.

Anastassia Joiner

We adopted 2 kittens. We picked them up a couple days later after they got fixed and had shots. After we brought them home, later that night they started exhibiting signs of kitty colds. I called and took them back in a few days later and they examined them for free and gave meds for half price to get them well. A couple months later, these guys are happy and healthy little members of our family. Couldn't be more excited for the joy they bring to our new home!

Mary Hutcherson

I stopped by to pick up a See Spot Walk t-shirt.

Kymber Cole

Jeff Rosenthal is the best humanitarian/surgeon/animal lover that I have ever come across for being in charge of the largest no kill animal shelter in Idaho... He goes out of his way to help low income families feed their loved furr faced family members, and I for one have never seen anyone turned away that really needs help... I absolutely love this place...

Killa Ninja

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I Wasn't very happy about the price($89.75) to get my 14year old 78% blind nanna dog out. One of my neighbors called to have her picked up (after my 4year old daughter accidentally let her out) the neighbor left a note saying my dog appeared to be neglected(her tear ducts don't produce tears so they get green goo in them.( I clean them 5 times a day and use $60 eye drops formulated just for her, coconut oil on your nose because it's dry)$1k+ vet bills trying to figure out how to fix it but she's just old) so they called The Humane Society to have her picked up. But besides that, She was well taken care of there, she was even tucked in/ covered up with a towel. I'm glad she was safe and in good hands.

Hannah G

Very caring and amazing staff. Every time I come I get help quickly!

Dianne Bryson

Everyone there is always so friendly and our dog, Sweetie Pie, loves everyone there!

Steve Bisbee

Staff was very nice and helpful. Best part is we found a new family member.

Sherie Nelms

They are very helpful and care about the animals. The animals are well taken care of. They do their best to find the right home for every animal.

Barbara Watson

Friendly, efficient staff. No waiting

Victoria Greenleaf

The employees and volunteers are helpful, and seem to be very dedicated. The pricing structure mystifies me...the local animal shelter back home charges a flat fee for adoption, whereas the Boise shelter charges more (up to $450) for the animals they consider more desirable. This policy, as well as the premium pricing on food, toys, bedding and leashes etc., make it seem more like a pet store than a shelter. Nevertheless, the animals always appear to be well cared-for, and the kennels are kept clean.

Savannah Allan

Idaho Humane Society is a great place to adopt Cats, Dogs, Rodents, and Birds. We support their great works of keeping the cages clean with fresh cat litter, food, water, etc. I personally have started a fund. with my school Victory Middle School for wet cat/dog food and raised 300 dollars for whatever is most needed. We go there weekly just to love on the animals. As an Animal Rights Activist I support govt. animal shelters because the govt. gives little money and workers still give their time to help the abandon, neglected, abused, and surrendered.

Mr. R

This place is amazing. They really care about your animals

Jackie Manning

We have had horrible experiences the last 3 times in the vet office. I took my dog in yesterday for a check‐up and there was a dirty needle syringe and a sopping wet towel left left on the counter in the Exam Room that they put us in. A couple months ago I took my rabbit in to get neutered and when I got him home I found the plastic cap to a syringe in his carrier. If he was feeling better and wasn't under Anastasia he would have eaten that plastic cap. Last year I adopted a cat from the humane societee and couple days later I realize she has worms

Anne Marshall

The staff are friendly and helpful for the most part, the cashiers are slightly less demonstrative of welcoming but overall I am always a proponent for adoption vs puppy mills. I have adopted multiple times and I simply go the the Humane Society when I "for sure" will be coming home with a pet, otherwise I cry. I love what they do, they have helped find so many pets furever homes! I know they are moving to a new facility soon, the stalls were clean and well kept, the odors were very well managed. I highly recommend visiting the SPCA and adopting today!!!!

John Young

Great staff doing great work for all types of animals!

Carissa Abbott

What a great place and an amazing program as well. My oldest daughter is working hard on recovery in Boise. And this shelter works with these kids. My daughter is learning so much and this shelter is one of the best that I have been to. They allow you to interact with the animals. Clean (as one could be) and a good place to bring the family.

Kyle Heisey

Dr Koob is great! Awesome to work with

John Melland

What an awesome shelter. No kill and very successful at finding pets homes!

gina jones

This was a truly sad day I had to put my little guy Named Biggen down. He was almost 12 and was a special fur child from birth he had tunnel vision and I gave him the best life I could. They had so much compassion and it was truly appreciated because Biggen was so special in many ways. More rhan the special needs pup he was he gave me almost 12 years of Joy.. they were wonderful with mt and him.. highly recommended!!

MIKE ANDRESEN

They are good but I didn't like the smell from the animals that they have there

Aaron Smith

I went here multiple times over the course of a few months, trying to find a dog suitable to become a service dog. The staff were always very nice, they were understanding as I met with 2-4 dogs at each visit, and sat with me for nearly a half an hour answering a laundry list of questions when I found a potential match. This was about a year ago, and the dog they helped me find is amazing, and very nearly a fully trained service dog. :) They are very busy, but if you're patient and really try to work with them, they will work with you. And even if they don't have a good match for you at your first visit, if you keep visiting you'll find your perfect dog (or cat!)

Trent Briggs

Great people great place. Accepts walk-in's and takes payments if necessary.

Cathy Boswell

The nurse, doctors and rest of the staff are always great with my kitties. When our male cat kept getting urinary blockages and I was out of town they helped my husband out with costs. They explained everything to him that was going to happen and what to expect when he brought him home. When our other cat had an eye infection the doctor didn’t talk down to me about anything. He was so great with my cat and made sure she wasn’t getting overwhelmed or stressed by looking at her eye. We will definitely continue coming to the veterinary offices!

Michelle Palmer

We had a great experience when looking for a puppy for my grandma. We are thankful for the effort they took in ensuring us a good placement and when the puppy unfortunately didn’t work out they were very understanding. We had adopted through the foster program and the pup need a little more than my grandma could do with her abilities and limitations. As soon as we knew it wasn’t working which was just a few hours the foster mom quickly came and picked the pup up and they refunded our money and hoped we would soon find a match.

Mrs Nonie

Wish Google maps gave better directions. All 3 animals we got from here this year have become great pets. They really take care if critters here.

Michelle Barnes

Super helpful and detailed and patient. Gave me all kinds of good advice.

Michael Frasier

They have fair prices, several ways to pay, and I only have to pay for what I need done. Kept it affordable for me and my old dog gets her problem dealt with. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Jeremy M. Lemro

I love this place and got both my dogs from here. I give it 4 stars because the picture of the dog made me so sad that I can only give it 4 stars.

Summer MacPherson

We go out often to cuddle and walk the furry creatures and it's Always clean and animals are very well taken care of.

MeShell

Great prices for the vet clinic and they were knowledgeable about my dogs illness. Would have given 5 stars had the lady who helped me been more friendly. I know IHS is very busy and they deal with a lot of people, but a smile or even eye contact can go a long ways.

Maurice Troutman Jr

My dog was totally healthy before being quarantined for 9 days. Took him back after he only got worse and they wanted to charge me for seeing what THEY did to him. I understand they have a lot to do and my dog is just another number to them, but he is my daughter's with type 1 diabetes last line of defense during the night. For him to die at the hands of the humane society would be...i have no words for it. Fyi, go check on your animals if they go there because my dog didn't even get a pad to sleep on and had pee and feces in his cage every time we came to check on him

Scott G

They have improved by leaps and bounds in last 15 years ive visited. Highly responsive to calls on animal issues. Great service for our community.

Dan Lieske

I had my dog spayed. Best deal in town. They did a great job and all went well. Friendly staff. Thank you IHS!

Lori Poole

Great staff and reasonable prices...and your money goes to the care and support for the animals.

Samantha Scott

Brought my 1 year old pitbull in because she fell really ill after she escaped from our yard. We were told she had her immunizations but she clearly didnt when she was diagnosed with Parvo. They quite literally are the reason my baby gets to continue living. Thank you all for everything you did for her ❤ doctor Anderson and the Vet techs are amazing!

Pamela Nerby

I went to find my lost pet. The staff was very helpful and understanding. They are a bit busy and waiting is a bit long, they try to to assist everyone within a reasonable amount of time to be sure your in the right place.

Madison Pardy

It was so fun for me and my friend to play with all of the animals. It was so fun I wanted to volunteer there but I was not olde enough.

Darlene Mesa

They are the most caring for our dogs. I have a lot of gratitude for them. I make the drive because of how they treat us and our pets!

Dale Mitchell

On my last visit to the human society my friend was bringing his dog in to have him"fixed" and I got some new toys for my puppy Skeeter. My hat's off to all the workers and volunteers for there hard work and dedication. Keep up the great job folks.

Often over priced on everything; however what they do is commendable I’ve gotten several animals from them and used their clinic as well. All the staff has been helpful and friendly. It’s. It always the cleanest or best smelling but that’s the nature of the business.

Luma Lamie

So much fun playing with the animals and the staff was amazing!

So many wonderful programs and a rewarding place to volunteer

So I bought a cat from them on the 9th of this month, I had to leave him over night to get neutered. The day after his neutering i noticed he had a very large amount of black crust in both of his ears, so i called to see if I needed to treat him for ear mites, literally as im explaining to them whats going on she cut me off said "I'm not sure" then the call ended. They told me to give him this medicine for the next 14 days for prevention of infection on surgical site. A couple days into giving him this medicine, he started sneezing, coughing, and has had a fever. I called this morning at 10:15 am, and they told me to bring him in for his free examination, i drove 30 minutes back to there building for a third time since i got him on the 9th. When i got there there was a sign on door that says theyre not taking anymore walk ins today. So i go inside and explain this all to them they turned me and my sick 3 month old kitten away and told me to come back in a couple hours and that it says in his file the antibiotics are for a upper respiratory infection... and that its contagious i also have a 5 month old kitten that has had no pronlems since ive had him but im afraid hes going to get sick as well. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ANIMAL SHELTER TO ANYONE WHO WANTS A HEALTHY ANIMAL!!!!

Very helpful staff great prices.

The best critters come from this place! The folks here are so compassionate. A lot of volunteers. Here's the second big dog we've gotten from here. They've both been so good with the cats and wildlife!

page ducheneaux

Anyone in Boise who needs a per in their life please come here. They genuinely care about these animals. Great people, the animals are well cared for.

Kelly Richards

Doing great things for all those beautiful fur babies!

Brendon Mead

Found the best dog in the world here. 3rd visit was the charm :) staff is amazing.

We adopted Ziggy a month ago. He was already house trained and attached to are family instantly. All i know is who ever had him before and who took care of him the month and a half at the humane society did an amazing job because he is such a lover he obviously was treated amazing. We are so thankfull you allowed him to go to a family who love him and spoil him. His love he shows has been such a gift and made are family closer. Thank you humane society you guys are amazing.

Cindy Edmonds

Way to expensive to adopt a dog. With all the donations they receive, one would think that affordability would be the thing that would allow people and families to adopt. It's not like they pay for the dogs. They are dogs no one wanted or couldn't keep. I think it's a bit of a scam. So if you find them out of your range, Craigslist...lots of love to be found elsewhere.

Warning!! GRAB THE YELLOW SHEET!! If you see a dog that you like, make certain to grab their yellow sheet on their pen and keep it with you while you analyze the dog. Yesterday I spent over an hour bonding and checking a dog out while my husband drove all the way from Nampa to see her. We agreed she was meant to be ours. I went to the desk to adopt her and they informed me that while I was with her, someone must have watched us together and grabbed her yellow sheet. They were able to put her on hold for 24 hours. They will not put you on a waiting list so I was anxious all night as to whether she would get adopted by the other people. The disappointment was unbelievable when they did adopt her. The people at the desk apologized for not checking to see if she was with someone else. People are so amazing. Merry Christmas!

!Adopt don't shop! I got my dog from there and we're going to adopt again! This place is clean, staff is nice,Vets are amazing( they were very understanding and sympathizing when we had to put our sweet senior dog to sleep last September).

Mike Giggey

Been going here since I was 5 years old, adopted a few dogs from here and my family. Please support our local shelter, food, treats , anything helps. Even volunteering, walking dogs and loving on them.

Amy Strebe

What a great experience! The staff is helpful and educated. My pup and kitten were taken well care of during their spays. Price was pretty dang good for both of them!

Christine Sansotta

Excellent service and help. Took my dogs on for their routine checks and the team was brilliant in answering all my questions.

Kareen Jensen

I dont hate them they saved my pups leg

Robert Cannon

Only down side is that they kills the ones who don't get adopted. While there are arguments for killing animals who are old, sick, or not adoptable, I simply don't see the point in killing others who don't fit these categories just because not enough people are willing to adopt. In light of a reply by the human society, I would like to add to this that my only complain has been addressed. I still prefer simply cats, but all of what the human society said in their reply undoes my first paragraph. Still only going to rate at 4 stars because I like the way Simply Cats does things better.

Dawn Montano

I thought it was going to be a good place, but I’m very disappointed and my puppy has passed away. They did very little for my puppy, they should of done more for him and they didn’t, and now I don’t have my puppy anymore.

Jessica Glenn

They are very respectful when I had to put my dog down...

Randy Emery

Would not recommend going here for anything. The staff is rude and they take horrid care of the dogs there. They always have feces and urine in the kennels, seems like the dogs are never taken care of appropriately. Will never go here again for anything, if you want to adopt a dog or cat I'd recommend going to the West Valley Humane Society. They are world's better than Boise Humane Society (if you could even call it a humane society).

Ashley Stroud

They do an awesome food bank for dogs which is so helpful. As far as the adoption center I feel like they don't really want to adopt out animals because they make it extremely hard to do. I understand it's important to have good homes but the staff can be really rude sometimes. Pretty good place though. Seems like most of the time the animals are well taken care of.

Katrina Whitten

Played for daughter to do volunteer work and still have not heard anything.senior project now screwed summer almost over school gonna start and now probably have to make a quick 360 change of plan.

Terrible facility. Horrible people preemptively killing animals. I surrendered a dog after a bite and said so many times not to put her down and that I would take her back if that was the only option. I asked for a phone call prior to euthanasia. They did not listen. They put down a dog not even a year old, after saying I would take her back and find a home. On top of that, they killed my friend's cat during a spay, and required her to pay for it. The kitten was only 8 months old an they did not check for any conditions that worsen the surgery. Afterwards, charged her for the cremation. If you care about animals at all, do not take your pet to this facility for any reason. In response to the owner, you are flat out lying. Were you there when I turned her over, because I don't recall you being there. What you described was not explained to me. You need to correct your staff and tell them to give more accurate information and make them more competent in their job. It was not explained that I needed to keep her in my custody during that quarantine time period, or that reclamation was not an option. They actually told me the opposite. I was asked by your staff if her behavior could be corrected, would I take her back? I said yes multiple times. Your staff gave me that hope when I didn't originally have it. Your staff was extremely rude and condescending the entire time I was in there and even on the phone calls leading up to me bringing her in. Your staff asked me to uncover my wound in the lobby for photos. For your last flat out lie, I did have an owner that I found on my own, who was willing to take the dog in. I was told, by your staff, that I could have my ownership turned over to them so she could be adopted. I asked if your staff could call me prior to putting her down because I would look for a new owner in the meantime. Not only did that not happen, but I didn't get a call until days after she was put down. After multiple calls over multiple days to say I found someone, it took four days to get a response before I was told she was put down. I am very ashamed at the poor handling of this case from start to finish.

Samantha Rohrich

I went in to see if my lost dog was there since no one answered my 4 phone calls and my boyfriends 4 phone calls. I was there before closing thinking it would be a quick thing. To wait almost 40 minutes to be told I couldn't take him home with me because my boyfriends name was on his papers from last time. The lady said my boyfriend needed to be there or say it was okay for me to take him. She then said a phone call wouldnt work, that he had to sign some type of release BEFORE he showed up at the human society. My boyfriend was only 10 minutes away, and she said they were closed and we HAD to wait till tomorrow. I get that its for security, BUT I have many pictures of the pup, could call for verification, he could have been there in minutes, and it is one less dog they would have taking up a kennel. It would have been nice to know prior to waiting so long to hear I could not get him.

Jerry B

Well run place. Dee Dee is the best.

Ronnie Soldano

Strongly recommend for anyone seeking to adopt. Also great veterinary rates, and great doctors.

Mathew Krenz

I would love to get a dog but $200.00 is alot.

Corrie Crow-Hamrick

My heart has been stolen by the animals and the caring staff!

Nikki Camacho

I would like leave this review for the vet clinic. I’m so grateful and appreciative for Dr. Palchek. Thank you for being so thorough and taking such good care of Mick. I cannot thank you enough. You saved my dog .. my family member. And he LOVED you all. This will be where I take my dogs from now on.

Michael Wilson

There is nothing negative I can say about the Idaho Humane Society. Everyone was kind, respectful, and helpful. What they do for the animals and the community has to be one of the most underrated professions in this country. They worked, above and beyond, with me to be able to bring back home my two little sister pooches. From the management to the staf that work up front as well as those that are in the back, I salute you and thank you.

Randy Lynn Kramer

Great, great place, and people who love to see miracles!!!

Mikayla Johnson

Love volunteering here, and adopted my best friend from here! Such an amazing place.

Cheryl Dewitt

Iit was sad. It was nice to see so few dogs but the conditions were not good for them. I think it could be improved and the dogs would be more likely to be adopted.

Kathy Seybold
