You guys are awesome I love the staff they are very friendly. Walter is an awesome VET and very good with animals. My dogs love visiting and don't get stressed. I advise anyone looking for a good bet to bring your animals to them.

Melissa Hughes

Great experience with Dr. Wethered, very professional.

Megan McJunkin

Dr Weathered has been caregiver for my three dogs for the last 17 years. I trust his expertise and know from research that he’s doing only the safest and most necessary work to protect their health!

Jennifer Kent

Dr Wethered and his staff have been so great with my boys...I can't imagine trusting their care to anyone else.

I would not recommend this place. I left feeling take advantage of and confused. I brought my healthy GSD in to have a checkup because he was having some seasonal allergies and left with a $400.00 dollar bill (which was later refunded when I came back to take a picture of the paper work to show my lawyer.) There was four people working on my dog at once. The place was unsanitary, I saw blood and fluids of a previous animal on the floor of the room I was in. At the end of the appointment everyone left with my (90lb) dog still up on the table. On top of the that, the door was kept open and an office cat casually came in and out of the room during the appointment, adding to my dogs anxiety.

Katie Mengel

I have been bringing my dog here for years and I just always a positive experience I would never bring my animal anywhere else. They also have a great boarding facility.

Roger Flege

Disgusting place that will not only rip you off will also disrespect you!! Never been so appalled!!!

Gail Shuck

Dr. Wethered and all of the staff were so kind to both my cat and me while the cat was suffering, and when we had to make the decision to put him down, they were completely supportive. I never felt pressured to continue giving him expensive tests or treatments. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was that the costs of the various tests that we did do were much more expensive than I had anticipated, but for all I know, those costs might actually have been reasonable or even lower than average. I can't say. But when I get another pet, I'll definitely go back to Ewing Animal Hospital!

Nice place, old timey feeling, nice staff, good rates, good experience.

The receptionist and assistant were very pleasant, warm people. The assistant handled my cat with apparent affinity for animals. The doctor's skill set was fine, but I noticed an arrogance and condescending air from him throughout our visit. My cat appeared much less comfortable with him than with the assistant as well. I find this to be important because when you love your pet and are stressed about their being hurt, the last thing you want to encounter is someone who adds stress or ill-feelings to the situation.

THE Gecko

Took my dog here last night because the humane society was closed and he appeared to have an eye infection. They told me an exam was 54.00. So I was ecstatic thinking that was a great price. Im a single mother and live paycheck to paycheck so this was great. But no when they got done it end up costing almost 200.00. For a dam eye infection!! I will NEVER be taking an animal here again. They didnt even warn me of how the test they were doing for glaucoma and such was racking up a 200.00 bill. The humane society ALWAYS explains the cost and prices of different procedures or test before they do them. I guess these people think everyones rolling in money!! Oh and they cut my dogs nails. Made him bleed and didnt even use the powder stuff to stop the bleeding. I wasnt impressed!!!

Tori Cade

We haven't gone to Ewing in years. When we did, every time we brought any of our 3 dogs in they would forcefully clean their ears and terrify them and forcefully clip their nails, hitting the quick, and making them bleed despite the fact that we trim their nails regularly. I find that the appointment fee is ridiculously expensive for subpar service when I pay less for excellent service at the vet I go to know that's all the way in Eagle, but absolutely worth the trip. It's been a few years, but my dog had a limp (that has since been correctly diagnosed as bone cancer), but I remember the Dr. was incredibly rude to his assistant as she walked my dog up and down the hall so they could see where the limp was.

Jessca Reeves

Dr. Weathered is awesome to work with as well as the staff! Always kind and compassionate whenever we have an issue with our animal!

gale saastamionen

Dr.Wethered and staff have always been kind and loving to my animals, very knowledgeable and have always alleviated my fears. All our appts have been in a timely manner. His prices are more than reasonable. Over all i rate them 100, and i am very protective of my 4 legged family members.

Dr Whethered and his great staff has helped our Alaskan Malamute get through a very serious injury. The entire staff has been so helpful and professional though a very stressful time for our family and our dog. I would highly recommend him and his staff to anyone in need of veterinary services in the Boise area.

If you need an amazing place to board you special pet. This is the place for you. My pets are more than special to my heart. They treat them the same way

Cecilia Rinn

I have been taking my dogs to Ewing Animal Hospital for over 15 years. They are dependable, take great veterinarian care of my animals, and most of all, they are so compassionate. My last two dogs lived to 15 and 17, and when the time came Ewing Animal Hospital helped my dogs pass over with kindness, and the least amount of suffering.

tarra mcclure

Owner is rude, staff is great.

I could never say enough good things about Ewing Animal Hospital. I have been taking my pets here for several years now and I trust them completely with the health of my pets. Dr. Wethered has seen my cats for everything from a routine exam to liver failure, kidney disease, diabetes, and even performed lung lobe surgery on one. Dr. Wethered is not only a very compassionate veterinarian, he is very, very good at his job and has always taken excellent care of my pets. Him and his staff always put their clients first and I can't say how much I appreciate that!

Jenny Telford

Any vet that would steal money from a rescue is no good to me! When it comes to homeless animals being boarded, a rescue should never have to pay to get them out and help them. It really shows that money is first in this business. I would never take my pets here!

tony mayer

Beware of this place. Guard your wallet, as they will attempt seemingly unrequested and unnecessary procedures to run up your bill. I left them 2 dogs because I wanted a large cyst checked and removed on one, and a small cyst checked on the other. Neither procedure was done. When I got to their clinic at 5:30pm I was presented with a $1900 bill apparently for only a "diagnosis" . I was given an almost identical diagnosis for both and told I needed to schedule knee surgery for both at an estimated cost of $3-4,000 per dog. I asked why the cyst hadn't been removed. Dr Wethered never did give a straight answer, just said I had to reschedule. Bottom line is that I spent $1900, and lost a full day of time. I had traveled 150 miles because they had promised me they would remove the cyst if I brought the dogs in that day. I will never go back to Dr Wethered. I also am considering reporting them to the Idaho State Veterinarian board and suggest they review his practice. - for me this visit was entirely a waste of time and money. Very, Very Disappointed.

Great all around vet and dog day care.

$$ CROOK ALERT $$ Place was disgusting, after they poked the wrong bump with the needle there was blood on the stand and floor and the assistant, vet had left us with the blood everywhere and never cleaned it up! Vet/owner was very disrespectful and did tests I specifically asked him not to went in for a free checkup that was falsely advertised and misleading. spent $127 which includes a $31 Band-Aid that fell off right away I won't return hope you don't!

They took great care of my cat before she passed away and they were so kind to me and my husband

Ivana Moroz

We left our puppy here for boarding over a long weekend. When we picked her up our pup seemed happy and she was clean. They do offer a military discount.

We have always taken our animals to Ewing Animal Hospital. Dr. Wethered and his staff have always been caring and show a professional demeanor and attitude. Dr. Wethered helped us when it was time to put our first dog, Britt, to sleep. He explained the process and made sure we felt closure during the entire process. When our second dog, Vito, was diagnosed with cancer, we were unsure of how to proceed. Whether or not to give chemotherapy a treatment or to say our goodbye's to our family pet. Dr. Wethered explained the treatment process and helped give our dog another year to live. Even after we said our final goodbye's to Vito, we still recommend Ewing Animal Hospital to our friends and family looking for a good doctor to take care of their pets.

I can't recall a single positive experience with this clinic. The staff are very unprofessional; as I was checking in with the front desk, the woman working the desk reached the end of her shift, and switched out with another employee in the middle of checking me in. The environment of the clinic was very chaotic and unprofessional, with cats running loose in the "Canine" waiting area, which would have been a big problem for anyone allergic to cats, or if my dog had been aggressive towards cats. The doctor's young grandson was running around the clinic, screaming, during the entire time I was there, running in and out of the exam rooms. They try to charge you for anything they possibly can, and tried to sell me medicine that I didn't need or ask for to give my dog. They rarely explained any procedure or thing they were going to do (or charge me for). I will never be returning here again.

Not recommended. I was in town for several months from another area of Idaho. I took my new kitten in for his first vaccinations. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the excellent veterinary clinic in my home location, but, in opposition to the favorable Google reviews, Ewing turned out to be a huge disappointment. The staff, including the veterinarian, was rude and impersonal--all teenage girls who didn't seem to care about the whole concept of being courteous and attentive to customers. The veterinarian was rough with my kitten. I have had many cats of all ages, and while it does take skill to handle them properly, especially in a stressful situation for the cat, I would expect better. There are ways to wrangle a cat without hurting them. The first visit was okay--just a routine vaccination, heartworm medicine application, and fecal test. I was pleased with the price--about $50 altogether. The next set of vaccinations was ridiculous. First of all, it is generally recommended to perform a test for feline leukemia BEFORE administering the vaccination for that condition. The blood sample was taken, but the test was not actually performed before the vaccination. I was told that I would be called later that day with the results of the test, but that didn't happen until the next day. This visit was the one where I was particularly displeased with the doctor's handling of my cat. Along with the unsatisfactory wrangling mentioned above, the doctor applied a compression bandage to the site of the blood test which had started bleeding. I went home and noticed the cat didn't particularly want me messing around with the bandaged area, so I allowed it to stay on, thinking the test site may need time to heal. Several hours later, I noticed the bottom part of the kitten's leg had swollen to at least twice the normal size. Of course, I rushed to cut the bandage off. This whole situation shocked me, since I was not told that I SHOULD remove that bandage when I get home. Glad I was around to notice the swelling--it could have been much worse. I was also not satisfied with the charge--$150 for the vaccinations, leukemia test, and heartworm medicine application. I was charged for another exam even though this was supposed to be a simple vaccination visit. $50 followed by $150--sounds like a bit of a bait-and-switch situation to me. In other words--this place has some issues.

Wasnt impressed. We live in another state, and calling to make reservations was pleasant. They seemed caring over the phone and described a facility unlike the one that is really is. When I dropped off my dogs, (after first checking and double checking the vaccinations required by my state fit their requirements)the receptionist informed me that I would need to pay an extra $80 for...you guessed it, more vaccines. She also gave me attitude and half assed apology when I expressed my frustration. Offering no sort of discount or extra measure to offset the major inconvenience. Beyond that, when I stopped by later that night to drop off their favorite bedding and gives them loves before they closed, I asked to see go back and see the kennel itself. Wow!!!!! Nothing as described, the rickety shelter I had gotten from was nicer. They described on the phone and on their recording, a nice room with a window to see outside.. Nope. Large concrete room, dark not a window in sight. Tiny "run" and a cramped population. I will definitely be going with Boise Kennels next time and make sure everyone knows what a joke the boarding center is.

The doctor is one of the few in the Treasure Valley who sees and treats ferrets. Fair priced as well.

I can't say enough good things about this place and Dr. Weathered. I had spent thousands and thousands of dollars taking my Boston Terrier to WestVet where she had been referred from another vet, who thought her to complicated. There, she had three specialists to treat her and she still had rashes and bowel issues causing her to vomit 2-3 times a day (down from 6-8). I took her to Dr. Weathered on advice from a friend, and wish we would have found him sooner. He took the time to listen and analyze the situation and started her on a regimen that has been nothing short of a miracle for her quality of life (and ours!). She still has some exacerbations, but he has taken the time to make contingency plans for this and we can usually treat at home. For the first time in her 8 years of life, she was out of the hospital for an entire year, and doing better than I though was ever possible. The team is lovely, and they actually great her kindly and look forward to seeing us, even though when she is feeling well she is very loud and hyper in public. They take the time to clip her nails every time, which may seem like a little thing but is very appreciated. It also goes to show how Dr. Weathered see the animal as a whole, and not just separate groups of symptoms to be written off and referred out. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Our names are Peanut Butter (pit bull / mix, 7yrs old) and Jelly Krahling (lab / mix, 7 yrs) and we loved this place and especially Dr. Wethered. We were patients of his for 2 years before we moved back to Arizona. Dr. Wethered and his staff were so careful, patient and kind to us every time we would visit, they even gave us treats! We also liked the fact that we could go to one place to get groomed, exams / shots or stay overnight when our parents needed a weekend get-a-way. We really miss Dr. Wethered, his staff and facility. Would highly recommend to anyone!

We have been taking our dog to Dr. Wethered for years and our dog has received great care from this hospital. Our dog has had eye problems and Dr Wethered has always been up front with cost expectations before moving forward with treatments. I have always found the staff to be friendly and attentive. There is a cat that wonders around however, this cat is actually quite shy and keeps to himself. The cat is a rescue that would not survive unless it was under constant care of a vet so, for that, I enjoy seeing him around. If the cat were disturbing my pet, I would simply close the door of the room. We are very grateful for Dr Whethered and find him to be a straight to the point, with shots of humor, nice guy and continue to be quite happy with his care for our dog.

Doctor is a thief, always cheats people out of money by over charging for voodoo probelms. The animals get treated incredibly poor. Staff are caddy children who do hardly anything. Be warned, take your animals else where!

My boyfriend got his puppy spayed here. He paid for the laparoscopic option because it was suppose to be less invasive. When he brought her home I checked her spay incision....It was horrible especially since it was suppose to be less invasive. She also had been shaved way too much and had razor burn and a few small cuts from being shaved. Two days later it started to ooze and then it opened up. She had been doing nothing but laying down. He took her in to get it stapled and they gave her three staples. Each staple was hardly in the skin and about to fall out. One staple was over another incision that wasnt even open and it was barely piercing her skin (so pointless). One of the staples was not even over her incision and her incision was still open. We ended up having to take her to the emergency vet that same night. The doctor there (westvet) removed all her staples and re-stapled it correctly. She must have felt bad for us because she didn't even charge us. Also when he got her spayed they did not give him any instructions except a few sentences on his discharge papers, no ecollar, and the pain medicine they gave him is not an widely accepted pain medicine for getting spayed. Ewing vet did refund him the extra he paid for laparoscopic. I was the one who picked her up originally from the spay. They didn't give me any instructions (no food right away, no exercise, watch for this etc.) They couldn't even tell me when she could get a bath or how her incision was closed. My boyfriend also told me that one time the vet clipped two of her nails too short, hitting the quick. A vet should not be doing this. Maybe a new vet assistant but not a vet. They gave her a two week antibiotic that is now making her sick. This is been a total nightmare! I have five years of experience working in animal hospitals and I have had to deal with such drama for one spay.

I took my dog back today to see vet dr. And he was really insultive to me. I felt like i was being treated like my worries about my beloved dog were completely retarded, and why would i worry about that sort of yhin. I will not be going back there.

We took a little dog found wandering alone at night to Ewing Animal Hospital to check for a microchip. She had no chip but the wonderful lady at the front desk offered to let her stay there for a day or two while we searched for an owner. My daughter posted a message and photo on Craig's List which enabled the owner to find and reunite with her missing pet. Thank you, everyone at Ewing Animal Hospital, for having the space and the compassion to keep the dog so that I didn't have to take her to the Humane Society.

I am new to Idaho from Washington State where we always received outstanding veterinary care. I have been to Ewing Vet Clinic since my arriving here in February 2016. This place is a joke! We have been consistently overcharged, misinformed and Dr Weathered is very rough handling my dog. If the public could see what goes on from the inside this place would be closed down I am certain. Receptionists administering medications, assisting with procedures and no they are NOT licensed vet tech's !! So much more happening that I couldn't even begin to warn you to steer clear of this place if you are wise.

Jake Harrison

Dan Lieske

Very rude staff and very over priced. Dirty hole-in-the-wall business. The Vet there has no business dealing with the general public. I can see why he chose to work with animals instead of people like a real doctor would. People wouldn't put up with him and animals don't have a choice or they too would go somewhere else. I would take my pets anywhere else but here. The vet is less than just lacking a personality. He barely qualifies as being human himself. It is painfully obvious that it's ONLY about the money and not the actual caring for animals. I guess this is his profession that he was left with when he couldn't make it as a real doctor and can't even fake having a personality.

Krystal Griffith

I was very pleased with the service I received! Mr. Wethered and his staff was amazing and treated my princess like a princess she is. Was very gentle. I also got to meet his dog Lucy who smiled at me. I will definitely recommend him to family and friends.

I have taken my dog to Ewing Animal Hospital for her regular check-ups and shots since she was a puppy. Dr. Wethered and the staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. I also board her there when I am out of town - because she likes it so much. She has scheduled play time. They have a groomer, too - so that's another plus. Now 6 years old, Lily loves going to the vet so much that when we moved across town, we still prefer Ewing Animal Hospital.

The last 4 years Ewing has been taking care of our 2 cats and 1 dog. Everyone there is very kind and knowledgeable. We have been very satisfied with all of their services such as annual checkups, thyroid surgery, teeth cleanings, and sadly euthanasia. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a trustworthy vet to care for their loved ones.

Dr. Wethered is everything you'd want in a veterinarian...knowledgeable, courteous, and empathetic. His staff has always been pleasant and helpful. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

I am very surprised to see all of the positive reviews. My experience was clearly very different then everyone else. I went in with a friend of mine to have her dog looked at. When we were brought into the exam room there was a used bloody needle laying out on the counter. There was blood all over the floor and once the vet was finished looking into the dogs ears, he took the used dirty tip and dropped it onto a pile of tips that must of accumulated from other exams that occurred throughout that day. It is my assumption that vet offices are held to the same standards as being in a Dr.'s office. They are to be sterile! Not only was this place completely unsanitary but very unprofessional as well. There were three or four teenage girls hanging out that i guess were assistants. When we paid the bill the girl that handled the transaction had her baby with her behind the desk and was trying to feed it while taking care of our bill. I so would not recommend this place.

Judith Allan

(disregard the one star I was required to make this post) - NO STARS FOR THIS JOINT. On our first visit, we were told our dog required immediate surgery for inverted eyelashes at the cost of $800. Two consultants said they saw no evidence of any such problem. They recommended NO surgery. There is NO price list of meds. You should know that Costco and online prices are always cheaper. EEEWing will offer a discount when you mention you can get it at cheaper prices. Never did they match the lower prices. Needless vaccines and blood tests are recommended and a free guilt trip is included. Don't fall victim to that scam.

Molly Connealy

I am almost 13 years old and have had a great, active life. I've been going to Dr. Wethered at Ewing Animal Hospital for several years. He and his staff treat me so well and care about me so much! I highly recommend him to all of my friends.

Vicki Smith

I have to believe the negative posts I read were due to the emotional experience and unexpected costs of a vet visit. I found the staff very friendly and helpful and Dr. Wethered kind and knowledgeable. He was very thorough in explaining treatments and there was no pressure to have any procedure done. He just gave best and worst case scenarios and allowed me to make a decision. I would highly recommend them.

Gail Cunningham

we have been taking our dogs to Dr wethered for a very long time. each time we have had to have one of our pets put to sleep.he and the staff were so very kind and made it very painless and comforting for us there were 3 girls and when the time came they were great. we now have 3 more girls and we will never take our girls anywhere but here. so if you want the best hospital and Dr with a great staff i would highly suggest you go to see Dr wethered.
