I called the office after my dog swallowed a knuckle bone whole. The receptionist went out of her way to get a hold of a doctor and ask if I should bring him in right away. I was waiting for a vet to come into the office (I was told it could be a few hours), but my situation worried her and she called the vet,and then called me back to let me know that he probably was not in trouble unless he started throwing up or whatever. I was so tickled with her concern for my dog and that she went out of her way to reach the vet and call me back right away!!!! That is an awesome vet clinic!

This wonderful clinic is very affordable compared to other vet clinics I have gone to. It is the first animal hospital I've encountered who understands that some pet owners don't have hundreds of dollars available to them for routine check ups and procedures. We took our two pugs in to have their nails cut and they only charged us $5.00. We had taken them to other clinics to get their nails trimmed before we discovered BAMC and some of the clinics wanted as high as $28.00 per pet and you have to schedule an appointment just for a nail trim! BAMC charged $5.00 for two dogs and we just walked in and it was done within 15 minutes! AMAZING! TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS CLINIC!

My dogs were the second patients at BAMC when they first opened their door 10 years ago. I have been impressed with not only the facility, but with the cutting-edge technology employed, from record-keeping to surgical techniques. What I especially like about this practice is the caring, friendly staff. When my first dog passed, I think the girl in the front office was more upset than I! Everyone I have encountered has demonstrated great compassion and a genuine love of animals. When I had to take a new dog to another clinic when he broke his leg over a holiday weekend, I was later able to reach MY vet at BAMC and took my puppy in. The difference in how moving my dog was handled was night and day, cementing my loyalty for my pets' care as long as I am in the Eastern Idaho area. Thanks to Dr. Rowntree and all the incredible staff at BAMC for all the great care over the years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Trust is huge when it comes to my fur baby. Dr. Rantala and her staff are SO amazing! They do the best quality work in this area. Prices are higher than others in the area but I don't even care because I know they are providing high quality and compassionate care at all times. I highly recommend this facility for your cat or dog. I live about 40 miles outside of Chubbuck and I would never even consider going anywhere else. Such a great place!

BAMC is a wonderful clinic. I am very impressed with them. They usually are able to get us in the same day. They are very knowledgeable and take the time to make sure I understand what is needed to help keep my baby (12 yr old black lab) healthy and happy. She had really bad ear infections. I had to clean her ears at least 4 times a week and she would cry when scratching... After the advice, I now only have to clean her ears maybe once a month and she is no longer in pain. Also she used to have the worst gas ever.... Like passing gas 10 times a day or more... after speaking with the vet, I switched her food and now she might pass gas a couple times a month.... it is nice for both her and I. BAMC has a vet on call for after hours. I am very happy with their service and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new, educated and friendly vet... Oh also my baby is scared of vets, and they take the time to let her get comfortable with them before examining her.

We have used BAMC for years now. All of our animals have been going to them and we have found them to be extremely good with both our cats and dogs. In the last couple of years we have lost one of our cats and our golden retriever to illness and they were extremely kind to us as we dealt with the loss. Our golden was 12 and the cat was 14 so they were definitely part of the family. The new additions to our family love the facility and the staff. The facility is well lit and very clean. They have separate entrances for cats and dogs and an area for children while you wait for your pet. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great vet.

This is definitely the best veterinary office in town. I cannot speak highly enought about their care and their staff. They cared for my dear Kano (a brindle american pitbull) from the time we first got him to the day we laid him to rest. We first went to another local veterinary office that discovered his heart murmur that was quite significant and their solution was to take him back and ask for a return on our money; Even after my wife and I said that wasn't an option and just wanted to know how to care for him. Then we took him here and they did just that. They told us where to go to get his surgery and collaborated with the surgeon there. They did his care when he got ill and battled the complications due to his heart. After a year and a half it came to end his suffering. He went peacefully and they consoled us greatly. Our new addition to our family, Rocco, will go here and nowhere else. They are truly the best!

They removed a large tumor from my senior dog's bladder and were so great about informing all about his procedure and updating me on his progress after surgery. It's no secret that I love BAMC. I am happy to see any of the doctors available at the practice because I know they work as a team and will consult with each other (and other vets!) to get to the bottom of whatever situation I have found my animals in. I appreciate the level of excellent medicine they practice, even if it is a little tough on my pocketbook. I can always rely on them to get my animal seen quickly, to be thorough during the appointment and discuss all my treatment options as necessary. All of that is worth the price! I have had new pet appointments, routine vaccine appointments, surgeries, emergencies and end of life care for a variety of pets at BAMC. I trusted them completely to help me through each event, and they rose to every occasion.

I'm sad to leave the review that I am: I started with them when I got my puppy. I paid for the puppy package, and was very happy with the care we received. We just went in for his first year's vaccinations, which aren't a part of the puppy package, of course, since he's over a year. I was offered to buy the vaccination package, which will supposedly include all of the vaccinations for my dog for life. I was happy to participate in their new program because I'd had such great experiences for the first year. When we went to check out, they charged me for the vaccination package *and* today's vaccination fee. Apparently, if one buys the package, it doesn't count for the current year, or maybe only if your appointment is on the same day as when you buy the package. When I asked for clarification, I was told the charge was correct. I cannot fathom how they can justify charging me for the vaccination fee, **on top of** the package plan, which has the *sole purpose of paying the vaccination fees*. They advertised it to me with every indication that it would cover the day's fees. The information packet doesn't say anything about "after the plan is fully paid for" or "you must have agreed to the plan and paid for it in full before utilizing it, "cannot use on the same day as agreeing to the plan," or even "does not cover 2nd year of life for the pet." It's purely dishonest marketing, at the very least. They're already expensive, but if the business practices are honest, and the quality is good, I'm happy to pay a little extra... but if they're not honest? I'll have to take my dogs somewhere else from now on - and that really disappoints me. The service has been good. The staff have been friendly. My dogs love the place (and one of the two *hates* vets).... but I can't bring myself to do business with dishonest brokers, especially when there are other, viable, options available.

We just moved here from the Treasure Valley and chose this vet through a friend’s recommendation. The vet himself was very friendly, but I am extremely disappointed with the overall experience they created for my dogs and myself. I am used to getting some things done prior to being taken back to a room like getting their weight, checking teeth etc. However they did the whole exam IN THE WAITING ROOM! I am there alone with two dogs( a small shih tzu that is terrified and a puppy border collie) that I am visibly struggling to control both of them at the same time. Mean while they already have anxiety from being in a new place, and they are being examined while lots of random people and another animals are coming in and out. I thought maybe they just do all this out in the waiting room until a room is free, so I hadn’t said anything until the second doctor came out with the shots. At that point I asked why we weren’t a private room and they go “oh of course if you prefer there is one available”. There was a room available the ENTIRE time! They let me know they would notate my account that I “prefer a private room”.... what person wouldn’t? My poor dogs left so stressed and so did I. We won’t be back. ***update*** I did receive a very nice letter from this center stating that because of my review they will now be asking new patients if they prefer a private room for the appointment. I think it shows a lot of character and integrity when a business reaches out to these reviews and does their best to correct the situation. For this I commend them.

My husband and I moved to Pocatello in 2017 from across the county. I had posted on a local Facebook page asking for recommendations. I got SO many recommendations for Hawthorne Animal Hospital and was frustrated when I called and they told me they weren’t taking new patients. The next on my list was Bannock Animal Medical Center and I’m really glad it’s where we ended up. Before I was even able to get my dogs established after moving here, they got pretty sick and BAMC was able to get me in immediately and prescribed them some medication to get them feeling better. I get reminders when it’s time for their vaccines and their staff handles my difficult dog with ease. I recommend you all to anybody looking for a vet in the area.

I have had numerous animals there from anything to a piece of grass stuck in their paw to joint surgery. Everyone was well taken care off. Sometimes you have omens or gut feelings you should follow. First was when they abruptly stopped carrying the special diet food my cat was on without notice. When I picked it up at another vet office I was told they had numerous upset people coming in getting their food too. The second was when the regular vet my cat likes and see's Dr Roundtree was not available (which unfortunately I ran into alot) and was forced to see another so called vet named ratala. My cat immediately disliked her before she even began and was hostile towards her like he never is with other vets. Unfortuantely, again, regualr vet was not available and my cat was sick so couldn't wait and had to see a new vet who has ony been licensed a month or so but again ratala read the blood work, report and diagnoised him. MISDIAGNOISED him. He wouldn't eat, problems going poop and nausea. She did not offer an xray but sent him home with stool softner and mounds of water IV shoved under his skin. That was Friday night. Sunday morning he was still the same only weaker and now bloated. Again I called and who is on call for the week-end? again this so called ratala. Her second mistake and misdiagnose was to (exact words) "Just double his dose of stool softner!" By Sunday night he is bloated, miserable, sick, nauseated. I called back. The FIRST THING out of her mouth was "You know we charge more for the week-end?!!" Its all a money thing. NO concern on my baby, NO questions, She finally met me there and NOW takes an XRAY and surprise, surprise, he has a blockage!! Immediate surgery! I cringed knowing SHE would be the one doing it and was a nervous wreck. I had a flash that I should take him somewhere else. I wished I had followed it. She said she will give him fluid then the surgery and call me. His test ALL showed good. HIs lungs, heart, organs, all good. All bloodwork was good except imflamation of the pancreas which she said could be the acid in the stomach. She called after surgery and said he is groggy but coming around. I said should I come get him? She said, its better to leave him and get some fluid. (again I had a gut feeling I should get him) and I said "But there is no one there with him" she said I will come back and check on him in a couple of hours. He was still groggy. I was running an errand and when I came by her car was already gone! a cuple hours later she called and states he is having problems breathing! I rushed down (takes 10 min) and she tells me HE HAS PASSED AWAY!

Dr. Rowntree is an outstanding veterinarian who has cared for our numerous pets for years. He has equipped his beautiful, comfortable clinic with state-of-the-art technology and equipment and has had many opportunities to use it for saving my animals. He performed complicated life-saving bowel reconstruction surgery on one of our dogs and innovative eye surgery on our other dog. We also had a cat that went blind from high blood pressure and the clinic obtained new blood pressure monitoring equipment that was used to regularly monitor our cat. We were most impressed with the time and effort he put forth during the surgery to save our dog a few years ago. It was a long and complicated surgery and he let me watch so I got to see first hand how hard he worked to save her life. It was excruciatingly heartbreaking when five months later we discovered that she had cancer and we lost her anyway. I think Dr. Rowntree was just as upset as we were, and his clinic made a donation to the Morris Animal Foundation in her memory which was incredibly thoughtful. We trust him completely and know he has our pets’ best interests at heart.

We are so impressed with the care that are dogs have received at Bannock Medical Center. The staff has always been very nice and helpful. We cannot say enough about Dr. Rowntree. Not only is he very knowledgeable but the great compassion he shows to the animals is amazing! He always follows up with a phone call to check and make sure our animal is doing okay after we have been in. On one of our appointments, Dr. Rowntree was not supposed to be there. He was on vacation. For whatever reason he was in the office when we arrived and came over to assist the other Dr. with what we thought was going to be a routine visit with our dog acting "not quite right." Four hours later after 9 p.m. he finally left us to go on his vacation. His knowledge and action that night saved our dog. After she passed on from cancer, we received a card from the Morris Animal Foundation stating a donation had been made in Shelby's name. At such a horrible time for us that card meant an awful lot. I highly recommend these Drs. and their staff.

My little dog's life was slipping away over the course of a weekend despite the best I could do, after possible botulism poisoning, a series of strokes, extreme nausea & then aspiration pneumonia, in pretty short order. She is 10 years old with a 14 year life expectancy; not exactly in her dotage. I wasn't ready to lose her! We brought her in on a Monday in a *terrible* condition & left her in the care of these good people for IV fluids, antibiotics, steroids, monitoring, & eventual refeeding. They saved her life. Steadily, patiently, [economically], & without giving false hope. Techs called morning & evening to give updates, & never did begrudge me time for a visit to their little patient. The doctor made herself available when able, to give us updates without additional appointments. Still, I couldn't believe my eyes when Lefty came tottering over to me when we picked her up the following Friday. She'll be a special-needs dog for a while, possibly the rest of her life, but to understate: we're grateful to the kind capable people at this hospital for every additional day.

My wife, Liz, and I began our relationship with BAMC about 11 years ago. Their facility is excellent. Since we have cats, we really appreciate that there is a separate entrance/exit to the building for cats from the dogs. Our cats pretty much hate dogs. (sorry dog people, we like dogs, but our cats don't). Just to share our first experience: One of our cats, Bob, an Exotic Shorthair, went in for a routine teeth cleaning. While under anesthetic they monitored his blood pressure and discovered that he had an extremely high BP. Seems pretty unusual, I know. The extent that Dr Roundtree went to, to ensure that our 13 year old cat was comfortable was remarkable. He worked with the WSU veterinary school to prescribe just the right amount of medication. Roundtree remarked that he couldn't understand why "...the top of Bob's head didn't explode from the high BP" Bob lived another 4 years and was a lot more comfortable. In fact, he would often report on his own to the kitchen every morning and evening at the right time to receive his medicine. We owe a lot to this clinic and the care that they have for our animals. My wife and I heartily recommend them to everyone. Take your pets there...you will be glad you did.

I would highly recommend BAMC, we had two dogs that are like our other kids to us. The Doctors and staff at BAMC have been so amazing! Remie our Border Collie went through surgery and chemo for cancer. Everyone there treats Remie like she was their own, she is going on 2 yrs. no cancer. Our other girl Mesha has passed on, but BAMC always took such great care of her and was as sad when she passed. I am so grateful to have such great care of BAMC. Thank you, Nicole

The doctors and staff at BAMC are the best in my eyes. They have taken care of our cats and dogs for many years and have always taken the best care of them. We had a diabetic cat and they did a wonderful job at treating him and helping me understand what I needed to do to take care of him. I would highly recommend BAMC to anyone who is looking for the right care for their pets.
