A larger dog attacked my chihuahua and I bundled her up and started for Ammon Vet. My sister called and let them know I was coming. I was immediately ushered into a room. Fortunately for everyone, they were between patients. Dr. Burr told me what he would do and they would call in about an hour for me to come back. She came home with stitches, a drain in her neck, pain pills and antibiotics. Everyone was so kind and compassionate. Great group of people and wonderful vet.

I am glad that I chose this vet when we moved to Idaho Falls. Dr. Burr is awesome with my pets and only gives them treatments, shots, etc. that are necessary - he doesn’t try to get you to buy things that aren’t needed. Shortly after we moved here my dog got really sick and had to have an emergency surgery. Thankfully Ammon Veterinary Hospital was willing to take her on. She has recovered fully and we will be forever grateful to Dr. Burr and staff for saving our girl. I recommend them to everyone I know looking for a vet. They are well worth the drive to Ammon if you live anywhere in the area, trust me!

We started going here after moving into a new home and needing a vet that was as close as possible due to a pet with asthma that has been life-threatening in the past. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and made me feel very comfortable with the transition. They were willing to listen to me, discuss our needs, and provide useful feedback. So far I have only been here a couple times and not for any of the life-threatening instances, but based on what I have seen I'm very happy with them.

We had our first visit for our new dog today. It started with a friendly phone call in response to an email I'd sent only last night. The office was easy to schedule with and upfront about the costs. When we paid it actually was significantly less than quoted. The receptionist and nurse were very kind and loving to our timid dog. The Dr. shared a lot of advice and answered our many questions. We didn't feel he was rushed. We also barely had to wait! For our first visit it was a great trip. We will go back and recommend to friends.

Great staff who knows their stuff and are great with animals. Taken my dog in since I adopted her from a shelter and they were able to handle her when she was still violent and irrational (just after I first got her, she's since been through training). Also familiar with the various training, grooming, and daycare facilities about town and can give advice about what would be best for your pet as well as which areas are currently having trouble with pet diseases such as dog cough and should be avoided if possible. They always follow up after any visit and welcome phone calls and questions.

First off, I took my awesome boxer here on short notice due to a family emergency. They gave him boosters, food, and shelter for about 5 days and the total bill was just barely over $100. The staff was nice and he was healthy and excited when I came back. Now we are going to have him neutered at the same place. Not only is it only $137 for everything minus extra diagnostic tests (that's definitely not required for a dog's neuter or spay), but they got us an appointment the day after I called. Very good service and friendly towards animals. To those who comment about needing to pay up front, this is an animal hospital (there is no health insurance for dogs unless you want to pay a high premium and vets don't like to bill them) and healthcare, especially veterinary healthcare is NOT FREE. Humans are turned away at doctors offices for less (even though they may have severe issues) and that's what the public utility of an emergency room is for. Animals don't get that same attention. Come ready to pay for your friends care because it's not free but it is cheap. Thanks Ammon vet hospital!

I have had nothing but great experiences at Ammon Vet Hospital. My Lab injured his knee. Dr Burr gave me the three options to fix it. Spent a bunch of time explaining the pros and cons of each procedure. We ended up doing the Tight Rope procedure. I checked prices and although they weren't the cheapest in SE Idaho they were VERY close. They explained all the costs up front. They explained the rehab time and effort it would take. Surgery went great. Dr Burr, showed me the X-rays before and After. He was extremely concerned about my dog, the outcome and making sure I was educated on how to help my pet. My dog had a full recovery after 3 months. I couldn't have been happier! Until he injured the other knee while running with me. :( . But I can tell you this. I went right back to see Dr. Burr because I was so happy with the clinic, the care and concern they had for me and my pet. We did the same surgery again with an educated expectation of how the additional surgery will be harder. You would think my dog would be scared to go back, but he walked right in and wanted a treat at the desk. That tells me a lot right there! I can say nothing bad about Ammon Vet Clinic. ONLY GOOD.

The customer service and interaction with ALL the staff at Ammon Veterinary Hospital is exceptional. We originally only used their veterinary services and loved how professional and thorough they were with our little Shih-Tzu Yorkie mix, Noa. I've always felt comfortable in giving them a call to ask them any questions or concerns I might have regarding Noa. In the last year, we've also used their grooming services. We won't go anywhere else; we love them! After a long winter in 2018 when my rescue dog who I’ve had three years ( she’s my best companion and best friend) suddenly became sick, I took her to her now previous Veterinarian. I was told very hurriedly she has diabetes and cataracts and was almost Blume and would be in a matter of weeks. I did my best to take in the very brief and incomplete at home instructions and was rushed out the door.... after many more frustrating visits that I initiated as some kind of follow up, and still not having my dog be a priority enough to give us a full office visit to cover all my concern and other symptoms she’d been having I’d had enough. I after looking online and compared all other vets, came to Ammon Veteinary Hospital! I’m so glad we did! Our first visit we saw Dr Behr, he was so patient, informative, educated, and thorough with his exam, but also with his communication with me. He told me his thoughts on the complications with my sweet girl and told me the test we could do and options I had in order of cost and need. After having already spent almost 1,000 at the other Vet in just 2 months, I was very grateful for that! We were able to come up with a treatment plan and shortly after she was her old self again! Then, a month later she started acting as if she was in pain. So, they promptly got me in. This time we saw the other Veterinarian there. She was excellent with finding the source and doing a follow up visit for the other issues and made sure to do a blood test that included enough to test for everything but not require the expensive tests. She took her time to explain to me what she thought was going on and called me later in the day with the results. She was positive we could get my girl dogs quality of life back and that I wouldn’t have to watch her suffer any more than she had. And she was and is right! I am very grateful for Ammon Veterinary Hospital and it’s Drs. And staff! They are all very informative, compassionate, and truthful. I can’t say even the difference it makes when we step into their facility versus the other in regards to my dogs anxiety being no more at A.V.H.!

This review is about boarding. They take great care of the dogs, I have no complaints about that. My issue is with how they handle fees for boarding. We had an unexpected trip over a short weekend and checked our dog in very late in the day on a Friday. We returned late Saturday, after the kennel had closed. The only options for pick-up on Sunday are to be there at 8:00 am, sharp or 5:00 pm sharp. Because we weren't able to be at there for the 8:00 am pickup, we were charged an extra day. So, our dog stayed for less than 48 hours, only 2 nights and we were charged for 3 days. We even brought our own food for him. If this was our first boarding experience, maybe I would just think this is normal. But it's not, we have boarded at 3 other kennels, including one in Utah, we've never had a situation like this when picking up on the weekend. Plus, the other kennels offer more options for picking up on the weekends and don't charge for an extra day simply because they can't have their staff there at more flexible times for people to be able to pick up their pets. If the deadline for not charging an extra day is 11:00 am, then the pickup time offered on Sundays should be 11:00 am, not 8:00 am! Also, the customer should be told they will be charged for an extra day if they pickup later. My husband dropped off our dog and this was not explained to him, we looked at the bill and were trying to figure it out. And, they really need to have a window for picking up the dogs. We were told if we were there 5 minutes late (we had to be there at either 8:00 am sharp or 5:00 pm sharp!), we wouldn't be able to pick up our dog (what a great way to get paid another day!) Anyway, I'm sure they are very nice people, but that's nickel and diming your customers and it's not a great way to get repeat customers, for sure.

This was our regular vet for a while, took two cats and a dog there. When we adopted a new dog, we took her in to get spayed. When we got her back she was extremely depressed and swollen. We called the vet to ask why, and that was when they informed us that she had been pregnant, and instead of contacting us to find out what we wanted them to do, they just killed all the puppies. They admitted it wouldn't have been difficult to stop the procedure and call us, but said that it's just how they handle the situation. I will never go here again, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone for this reason.

Ammon Veterinary has been our vet since we moved to Idaho Falls 3 years ago. They have always been great but last week we had to take our dog there because he was gravely ill. Unfortunately he was too far gone and the was nothing they could do except ease his suffering. They took care of everything for us, gave us all the time we needed with him after he was gone, arranged for cremation and to have his ashes returned to us with a decorative wood box with an engraved name plate / message of our choice. His ashes were returned quickly with a card signed by all the staff. Great people during a hard time. I highly recommend Ammon Veterinary.

The vet and his back staff are wonderful. However, the front desk leaves a lot to be desired. Our dog had to have emergency surgery on a Monday. They knew he was having surgery and did not tell us until the surgery was done, how much it was, nor that it was required all up front. We were between paychecks and didn't have the almost $700 to pay for it. I asked if I could make payments and she said NO! It was so embarrassing as our daughter was visiting from out of town and heard the whole thing. My daughter ended up paying for it.

No I will not recommend Ammon Veterinary Hospital. We brought our friend to you because she wasn't eating and we wanted to eliminate anything medically wrong with her. After an expensive blood panel you said you thought she might be a diabetic but you weren't convinced. You sold us expensive prescription food and sent us on our way. You told us to come back the following week sometime in the morning so you could test her blood sugar again. You left us with the impression that although you thought she could be diabetic there was nothing else really medically wrong with her. We walked away feeling like she was just being picky. We continued to watch our friend eat and then not eat. We watched this for a few more days and were not convinced we had found the real problem, so we took her to another vet. You faxed over your blood panel to that vet. That vet did not have to look at our friend to see that something was wrong. Instead that vet looked at the blood panels and diagnosed our friend with fatty liver and advised us to get food in her, even if it meant force feeding her. You should have told us this a week earlier. Our friend deteriorated over the course of the next few hours. We had her admitted to the Emergency Vet. They gave her IV's to help her regain fluids and she began keeping food down. We were hopeful we would be bringing her home the next day and could begin helping her tackle her diabetes once we could get her liver issues under control. She took a turn later that night because we were just too late to save her and with heavy hearts we let our friend go. You charge too much and do too little. Had her liver issues been noticed by you when we brought her in to you, we could have saved her. Because you didn't catch something that another vet caught as obvious, our friend is now gone. She was only 7. Too young to have left us. I will not recommend you. You got our money, but we lost our friend. In addition, rather than facing something they did wrong, they deleted my facebook post from their page. In fact, they deleted their entire recommendations section. Why is that? What are you trying to hide Ammon Veterinary Hospital?? Mistakes that get made are better learned from and owned. Instead this vet hides them from their facebook followers. You cannot hide me though, Ammon Vet. I will continue to tell Molly's tale to any and all that will listen. Ownership is always a better option. Hiding only makes the problem bigger.

At no time did we feel rushed or feel like we were a waste of time! They took the time to answer all of our questions and gave options for treatments! Here's (one of) the best part(s)---THEY DID NOT TRY TO SELL THE MOST EXPENSIVE TREATMENT PLAN!!!!! They suggested that we try some different dog food and then escalate from there if needed. We weren't in an emergency situation so we were fine with that. They then explained why the diet change etc--not just "ok, go feed him this expensive food that you can only buy here and call us in two weeks". NOPE---they discussed all options! Excellent staff, excellent care! Oh and very happy to post that Zeke (the Great Dane) is gaining weight!!!

What can I say? From location, to level of care and professionalism this a win- win for me and my dogs. I first came associated with Dr. Burr to my previous employment with a local boarding kennel, his professionalism is how I arrived at using him for my dogs as well. After I began using him, I had an emergency with a client's dog, due to his quick actions and care, the dog lived longer with congestive heart failure than any of us would have guessed!! The dog's owners were also thrilled with Dr. Burr and continued to take her to him.

Our pregnant dog got parvo, and they were one of the only vets that would allow us to bring her in right then and set up care credit. They kept her for a couple hours and got her hydrated. When we came back the vet actually showed me how to do the at home and didn't mind helping me when i called! They called Mr back a couple times to make sure Nia and the pups we're OK. Without them I wouldn't have my fur baby and her 10 pups!

Dr. Burr is amazing, he is very efficient and he will give you his honest opinion on treatment. The clinic is very clean and there is no clutter. I highly recommend Dr. Burr!

My pets are family. So, just as I would for my kids, I look for the best of health care for them. Dr. Burr and his staff have never given less than excellent treatment for my fur kids. The office is spotlessly clean and odor free. There is very little noise from the animals that are kenneling which is less stressing for the animals being seen. The front desk staff is as kind and friendly to my pets as to myself. Dr. Burr is extremely knowledgeable and patient with those of us less schooled. He’s never made me feel rushed and answers all of my questions. I completely trust Ammon Veterinary Hospital with my beloved pets. It’s the best fit we’ve found in 17 years.

I've only been there once. I'm going to go back because it seems like it's a decent place to go. But I was a little disconcerted with how nervous the veterinarian seemed to be around my dog. My dog wasn't showing any signs of aggression. The only real indiscretion my dog made was he didn't want the vet in his mouth, but my dog didn't snap at him. He just turned his face away. The vet kept on telling me about an assistant that was bit and didn't seem to be very happy about giving my dog a check up. Now, he did do his job and was very informative about my concerns. I'm just not so sure about a veterinarian who is nervous about giving a health check up to a dog that was being perfectly polite.
