My experience with Sawnee was positive. I brought my bearded dragon to see Dr Esbeck for an active mouth infection. He seemed quite knowledgeable but was unsure of how in depth he would be able to get in treatment due to the nature of the problem. I appreciated that he cared enough to refer us to the veterinarian's teaching Hospital at the University of Ga. He initiated the referral and getting an appt was easy. Overall I felt the staff was caring and helpful and I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a place to bring your pets.

Dr. Esbeck and all of his staff are simply the best! We take all of our animals to them and they receive phenomenal care! Our first experience involved my 11 year old rabbit who was near death. Dr. Esbeck cared for Lucky & gave us all of the tools and information to nurse him back to health. We are indebted to him for that. I love this vet! My dog is elderly (15) and has many ailments (most of which are related to old age). I want to keep my dog healthy and comfortable and not put him through unnecessary procedures. Dr. Esbeck and the staff really listen. They give you all your options and see what you are comfortable with. If there is an emergency, they will work with you. I love online appointment maker. I highly recommend this vet and his staff!

I recently had to put my elderly Lab/Dane mix down. After much research, I chose Sawnee Animal Clinic. The staff was very helpful and sincerely kind to me during this difficult time. I appreciate that Dr. Esbeck explained how the procedure was going to happen and what to expect. I really appreciated that they didn't treat me like I was just another number so to speak as I know they have euthanized many pets in the time they've been doing business. I honestly wish I could give this place less than 1 star. I had adopted 2 beautiful sweet rats and brought them in for a wellness check within the same week. One had a small mammary tumor which I was going to schedule surgery for because the doctor said it would be fairly easy to remove. Aside from that he gave her a clean bill of health. My other rat was fine and also had a clean bill of health. Today, only five days after the vet had cleared them, I had to put down one of my rats because of she was in a very advanced stage of pneumonia and when I took her to a different animal hospital she was in critical condition. I am livid and at the same time heartbroken that I lost one of them so soon. It makes me sick to know that he haphazardly gives obviously sick animals a clean bill of health. I will never EVER take any of my sweet animals to this location ever again. I am sick knowing that I could have potentially gotten her medication and not had to watch her struggle to breathe for hours. I dont know how this doctor sleeps at night. Never visit this location. I want to be contacted with an explanation for his gross neglect towards other peoples animals. I want my money back for this useless visit!

The Staff and Dr. are always available for any questions or concerns I have. My pets are treated with tender care and it shows by the way they act when we go to the office. They are always happy to see them. As a parent to all my fur babies that is very important to me. That says a lot. The care and treatment I feel is also extremely professional. With four pets they are extremely fair and easy to work with. I would recommend this clinic and you would not be disappointed at all. One more thing, this office has to be the cleanest office I have EVER taken my pets for care in 30 years!

We mainly only bring two dogs to this vet.we have two dogs that fight. Because of this we always take them here. The history is known and we have been there many times and a lot of times it's just before they close. They have always been great to us. On Valentins night the two dogs got into a fight. I rushed them to the vet and the front desk woman said my vet was on vacation and the other vet was booked. No one was in the waiting room. I could hear the other vet joking around in a room with another patient. No one would look at the dogs, the vet never came out to look the vet tech that was walking around did not come out to look the answer was no,no,no. Then the front desk person said you dog needs help take them here. After two years we won't be back.

The staff is nice, but when I boarded my dog I ask to have him groom. I was told they just cut them down nothing fancy. No problem he just needs to be trimed so I ask how much. It's the same price as any other professional groomer. He looks like he went in to a full body surgery, no hair. Even his ears. So now my dog has an complex on how he feels. You can see in his behavior. I separated in individual bags their food with an extra day of food. Did not get my extra day of food back. I will take some responsibility that I did not ask for it, because of how my little dog came out looking.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Esbeck and his staff. They have gone above and beyond wowing me. A few months ago they easily diagnosed and treated one of my cat's for a UTI. Today they helped calm my cat and get him a 3 yr rabies vaccine, which is no small task. After 6 years of my kitty flipping out at vet visits, he came home and didn't get sick, didn't attack our other kitties, and is rubbing my leg two hours later!

When my dog needed immediate surgery he was compassionate, honest, does what is best for your animal and did not rake me over the coals for the surgery. Just recently my mom had to put her 18 year old cat to sleep. Esbeck again was very compassionate and he is very reasonable about the cost. His procedure for putting your beloved animal to sleep is like nothing I have experienced before. So peaceful and he gives you all the time you need with your pet. We breed the rare & exotic Peterbald cat from Russia. I interviewed several vets and found Dr. Esbeck to be the BEST. I mean the best. His prices are reasonable, he is honest and very knowledgeable. I found other vets to be either over priced, upset that I ask a lot of questions or not well informed. I don't know what we'd do if Dr. Esbeck ever wanted to retire... his patients won't ever let him retire! BTW, I drive over an hour (one way) just to see him.

Went to the vet for a patch on my Guinea pig and was able to get a same day appointment. Once there service was quick and saw the doctor within minutes. He was very knowledgeable about Guinea pigs which is not the case for all vet offices and explained what was wrong, the different treatment options, and why he was prescribing a particular one. Also gave me advice on what treats to avoid for my pet. Overall it was a great experience, not expensive, and quick. Highly recommend for people with exotic pets.

I really used to believe Dr. Esbeck and his team were caring and thorough professionals. Unbeknownst to me at the time, and apparently to this team of ‘highly trained professionals’, my dog was on his death bed when we arrived at the vet. Dr. Esbeck, after charging me close to $400 in tests, gave him a completely clean bill of health and sent us home. I was so happy that he was ok since he seemed so very sick. Well unfortunately, he died mere days later of internal bleeding. He was in excruciating pain from the time he was given a clean bill of health through the second he died.. I hate y'all and will never be back. Please feel free to call me with an apology and an explanation as to how you let such an oversight and tragedy happen. Cody was quite literally dying the very moment he was in your care, and somehow, after all of your tests, you still had no clue. He had a blockage in his stomach and internal bleeding due to cancer and yall sent him home, vommitting and anemic. You should be ashamed and embarrassed. A more capable, competent vet was able to quickly decipher what was wrong (literally within an hour of being there. Meanwhile, Cody had been in your care quite literally all day). SO WHY COULDN’T YOU?!? I should probably add that the second vet to see Cody had his medical records from Dr Esbeck. While that may have helped clue them in (or not idk), they were astounded at the lack of notes and information in Cody’s file... I never would have believed this story if someone else had told me - you were always so good with him. It’s just really clear that yall messed up. And Cody had to suffer the consequences because of it. He didn’t deserve to spend the last week of his life in pain. He deserved the best and you failed to give it, and in turn failed him.

The doctor came in and examined little John Riley and determined he was very healthy, but he also gave me incredible information. I left there much more confident about husbandry for my dragon than I arrived, and I will definitely be returning there for future checkups.

I drove almost an hour to this clinic so my leopard gecko could get a wellness exam. it lasted about 5 minutes. i’m not sure what i was expecting but i didn’t learn anything new. my gecko got weighed and a brief glance over and that was pretty much it. i thought the vet was too rough while handling my gecko and somehow one of his nails broke and it bled. this cost me $50. i won’t be returning.

We have gone to this place for over a decade with almost every type of pet from dogs to birds and rodents. We will never set foot in this place again and make everyone we know aware of how terrible it is. I don't understand how any animal lover could ever describe Dr Esbeck as compassionate. He is the exact opposite of the type of person you would want handling your animals. Not to mention the fire they had years ago due to faulty equipment, killing many peoples beloved pets. He will let your pet die if you come in 10 minutes before they close because "Its time for him to go home". We tried to bring in a poor cockatiel 10 minutes before they closed and he flat out refused to even look at it because I guess he cares more about leaving early than saving a poor animals life. I wish I was making that up but sadly I am not, he treats his business like a fast food restaurant. I genuinely can not believe all of the people who think they care about your pets here. Don't even bother will small mammals here either if you're looking for competence. He will take your animal knowing he isn't going to even try to help it and charge you without any burden to his conscious. After wasting my money on a visit and liquid food I was told my rat had a low chance of survival, I did research online and told the vet I thought he had an infection which he said was false. Two days later I took my critter to a vet in Alpharetta and they told me he had an infection and it was too late to stop it now. I thought I was extremely fortunate to live close to an exotic animal vet but I will gladly drive any distance to avoid this place. The ladies at the front desk are very nice but that isn't why you go to the veternarians office. I want my money back for my most recent visit, or better yet from the last decade of wasted visits.

I always have a great experience at Sawnee Animal clinic. All of the team members are wonderful and treat my animals with the best care possible. I have had to take my dog there for an injury and they were thorough with his treatment plan and very compassionate. I have also had to take a pet rat there to be put down due to her age and a large malignant tumor. They treated my rat exactly the same as they would treat any other animal, knowing that she was a much loved family pet. They also sent a very sweet card afterwards. There prices are also very affordable compared to the vets I tried in the past. These things mean a great deal to our family. Which is why we have continued to stay at Sawnee, despite the fact that there are other vet offices which are much closer to our home.

My normal vet is in Dacula over an hour away. We moved and haven't yet changed to a local vet. It's hard moving doctors. Our doxie needed some quick care during the Christmas holiday and they were able to get her in and seen quickly. They were efficient , friendly and thorough. A few days later I also received a handwritten card saying thank you for coming to them and they later sent me an identification card for our doxie! Loved them!

Has always been a great vet until recently. My dog had a small mass removed from back. I was told to return in a couple of weeks to have stitches removed. Two weeks later dr was not in office and techs said so sorry these were dissolvable stitches. Several weeks later wound was not healing kept opening up and bleeding and internal stitches had come through skin was infected and festered up. I called and left s voice mail after hours telling him wound opened up and bleeding and letting dr know there may have been an oversight by techs about the stitches. Dr, Esbeck's response was, apparently, to kick me out of his practice by letter which I never received. I called in a pet meds script request and got an email response telling me to find another vet. Shocking and disappointing that a pet owner cannot address a concern about an issue without being kicked out. That's not the kind of doctor that should Be caring for any pet. Ego... find another vet don't go there.
