I wish that I could give them 0 stars. Poor customer service. I've been playing phonetag with them for days finally decided to stop by the location as the vet suggested after being on hold for another 10 minutes. Reached the office there was no one inside and no one at the reception area. I rang the bell to be greeted several minutes later by a woman who seemed very frazzled and overwhelmed. She explained that they were short staffed and apologized for keeping me on hold for 10 minutes. She then had me wait NOT in the waiting area but in a examination room with both doors closed and the room reeked of dog. After waiting for about 5 minutes I heard several women discussing vacation plans in the waiting area. A few minutes later I opened one of the doors to the room I could no longer take the smell. Another 5 minutes went by as they continued to discuss an upcoming vacation and someone's pet. A woman whom I assumed was the vet walked passed the room several times and never stopped to acknowledge me. I went back to the frazzled receptionist and asked if the vet was available. Seemingly surprised she asked "she hasn't come to see you yet? I swear she knows you're in there." She then walked away and came back to tell me that the vet had just went in to room 3 to see another pet and the exam would be 5 minutes if I wanted to wait. At this point I was just sure that I would take my hard earned money to an establishment that would be willing to help me. It was overall a weird, unprofessional and not welcoming experience. I would not trust my pets with this office. Imagine how they're left and cared for after a surgery. No thank you!

Awesome Team! I'm a Critical Care nurse and know when folks are truely caring and compassionate or just going through the motions. I've had the pleasure of knowing Ray since he first graduated from school and can assure you that he is extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, gentle and caring. His team work together like a fine tuned machine- each helping the other and always with the ulitmate goal of exceptional outcomes for your pet. I trust him and his team without reservation and reccomend Dogwood Animal Hospital to anyone. I recently had my 14 year old shepard in for a bad tooth. The Dogwood Team were able to keep her lightly sedated while they cleaned, polished, flouride treated,and sealed her teeth. They were able to treat her gums and didn't have to pull any teeth which was a big concern. They knew I was very anxious about her age and anesthesia so they kept me updated at frequent intervals that she was stable and tolerating the procedure well. They made what could have been a nail-biting experience, much easier to endure. Not only that but they called later to check on her. Incredible team- incredible service!

You can't do any better than Dr. Caughman and his staff! They love our dogs almost as much as we do! He is always kind and gentle with them He will go the extra mile to help in any situation that comes up. A few years ago we boarded our 2 Schnauzers, one of whom was very old, with Dr. Caughman while we went to St. Simon's island. Unfortunately, Charlie couldn't handle the separation and went downhill quickly. Dr. Caughman called us and we drove back to be with Charlie while he put him to sleep, even though it was after hours. I'll never forget it and I appreciate the kindness more than I can say. So if you're looking for an excellent doctor for your pet, Dr. Caughman is the greatest.

So I took my newly rescued dog here for her first visit. I chose this place because of the advertised $1 visit. I was worried that my dog was sick but luckily the dog said she seemed to be fine. My biggest issue is the fact that I got sticker shock when I went to check out. The recommended flea and tick medicine, heart worm medicine, and vitamins for my dog's hair loss were over $250. I feel like they should tell you ahead of time that even though the visit is only $1, they are going to recommend medicine that's going to be over $200 for your dog. In addition the rooms were not very clean and I waited about an hour after my appointment time before we saw the doctor. The staff was okay but not all extra nice. When my dog needs her next set of shots, I'll be going somewhere else. There was nothing that made this office stand out in my opinion. There was nothing to entice me to return.

We have taken our precious mostly black lab to Dr. Caughman for almost 9 years. Dr. Caughman is very low key, and he is extremely knowledgeable. His vet tech staff is really the bomb.. Brandi, Aaron, and Mel are just the very best. They always make us feel very loved and welcomed when we arrive. Karen is the wonderfully helpful gal at the front desk. Whether you call or email, Karen is very prompt with her reply, and she will work the schedule as best as she can to accommodate the time and date that suits your needs. Truly, look no further..you have found the perfect clinic for your animals! I promise!!!

We have used Dogwood Animal Hospital for well over 15 years. Dr. Caughman is very caring and thorough; his staff friendly and helpful. The facility is very clean. Our dog actually LOVES to go to the vet! If we say the word vet, or the name of a particular staff person, her ears perk up! She is a routine boarder and always excited to see the staff. Upon arrival, she is greeted by name. We are so thankful for everyone at Dogwood. They make leaving her so much easier.

I came upon this hospital after searching for vet that still performs ear cropping. I have a Doberman and its hard to find a professional that still offers this service. However, the front desk staff is amazing. All my questions and concerns are always answered. Brittany is AMAZING (if that is the techs name)! The only issue I had was after my pups surgery I called to check on him because his surgery had been delayed due to a simple mistake and after I spoke with someone they stated he was just waking up and they would call me after he was fully awaken and had eaten. I never heard back, so I called around 2:30pm and the phones were going straight to voicemail which made me worry a little because I didn't know how he was doing and he has never been away from me ever since I had him! Which is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 But everything turned out to be fine, I picked him up the next day. All in all everything else has been perfect.

Brought in a mistreated dog I rescued and they were so caring towards her, received very good Advise on her situation, I thought I was gonna get treated horribly because I was bringing in a clearly abused dog and they were very understanding of the situation and got this rescue a appointment the next morning after I called for a appointment! They were gonna do it that same morning but I wouldn’t have to dog there in time, they showed a lot of care and love to this pup!

I filed a complaint with the Georgia Veterinary Board/Secretary of State's Office regarding the poor care of my dog in 2017. Have yet to hear what the outcome will be but not giving up hope! My dog deserved better care after a surgery with Ray Caughman. Totally blew us off after his wound became infected. Wouldn't return phone calls for weeks....weak apology at best. Wouldn't take my pet flea there. Too many offices in Gwinnett to mess around at this hospital. I had to give a star to post but they don't deserve a fraction of one.

Brandi & Karen are beyond amazing. It doesn’t matter if I call or come into the office. They know my babies by their first name and remember exactly what is going on with each of them (they both have their own issues). They always treat me with respect and my babies as their own. The doctors here also are great. They don’t rush the visit and take their time explaining things to me. It doesn’t matter if I see them for an emergency or a nail trim, they always have time slots (especially for emergency or sick visits).

My two fur babies have been patients of Dogwood for about two years now. Dr. Caughman is the absolute best vet I have ever encountered. He answers all my questions and often times follows up with me the next day. My dogs have seen him for everything from regular checkups to dislocated shoulders to ear infections. He is incredibly knowledgable and my dogs love him. What I love even more about Dogwood Animal Hospital is the rest of the staff. Both of my dogs get boarded there every 4-6 weeks and they LOVE IT!!!! When I call and schedule appointments, Karen is so sweet and patient while I line up my calendar. Both vet techs, Melody and Brandee, are incredible. They treat both of my dogs like their own. Every time I go and pick them up, they always tell me they don't want them to leave. My little babies love everyone but especially Brandee. Brandee has been at the door waiting for them to come in and my dogs both start jumping up so she can hold them as soon as the see her. They are just as attached to her as they are to me!! The entire staff has truly become like a family to me and I am so grateful of the love and care they provide my babies. Whether it is for a regular check up or boarding, Dogwood is the best place around. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone!!!

Our fur babies have been patients of Dr. Caughman for nearly the entire 20 years he has been in practice. Each member of his staff must be chosen for their gentle and loving nature, as we have always been treated so well. They are always gentle and understanding with our dogs, even the ones that are skittish and seem nervous. When we were faced with heartworms in our most recent rescue baby, they gave us options for treatment and never pushed any one solution on us. When that same baby started to have trouble with his leg, they referred us to a vet who could treat his condition. We moved out of Gwinnett County and changed all the doctor's that the humans in the family see, but the dogs will continue to see Dogwood Animal Hospital.

We have just moved to the area and one of the many difficult things to find is a good veterinarian. The staff at Dogwood was very considerate and took care of me and my cat very well. My cat had been feral when he was little and still has some not happy reactions to strangers. But they were very patient with him. He just needed his shots updated but this visit let me know that they will be a good fit for him on the future.

I moved to Lawrenceville in June, 1998. Dogwood Animal Hospital opened in July 1998. At the time I had a dog called Harley. Harley loved to go to see Dr Caughman from the very start. After Harley passed away, I got Dakota. Two months after I adopted Koty, she developed a bladder infection. While in the office for treatment, Koty had a seizure, and Dr Caughman stayed with my mom and me, and Koty, for the next hour or so. He wouldn't let us leave until he was confident my puppy was all right. I could say so many wonderful things about Dr Caughman and his staff, I've got 16 years worth of stories, all of which would illustrate the personality of this wonderful veterinary hospital. Koty has not learned many words (and she's deaf now, at 15 years old so all the words she did have are gone) but she knew "Dr Caughman" and would respond to his name with excited tail wags and she'd bound to the front door, knowing she was going to go in the car. Dr Caughman has treated mydogs like family, and I love that when I call the office, I barely get through identifying myself and no matter who answers, they ask how Dakota is, because they know us by name. They treat my dogs like family when they are in the office, and when I'm on the phone with them, and Dr Caughman always takes the time to explain everything and help me make an informed decision about pet care. That's really important to me, because this is the first experience I've had in caring for a senior dog. I would give Dogwood Animal Hospital, Dr Caughman, and his entire staff ten stars if I could. I can not stress enough how wonderful Dogwood Animal Hospital has been for me and my pets for the past 16 years. As long as I am in this area and Dr Caughman is in practice, my pets will never see another vet. Why would they? I've found the best.

I have been going to Dr. Caughman for twenty one years now and would highly recommend him to pet owners. He and his staff are always willing to go out of their way to ensure our animals are well taken care of and has never let me down. I feel as if Dr. Caughman is part of our family and treats our pets as if they are part of his. Recently, I had an emergency and he was willing to keep his practice open until I could arrive with my sick pet. In the past he has come to my home when my Great Dane had a medical emergency and I couldn't carry her down the stairs. There have been sad times when i have had to put my pets to sleep and we cried together. He is very knowledgeable and selfless when it comes to the best course of treatment even if it means recommending another practice who specializes in the pets' illness. Dr. Caughman is somene I can always count on and is one of the best! He was a protoge of Dr. Connolly at Gwinnett Animal Hospital and it shows. If you're looking for someone professional, educated and compassionate I would highly encourage you visit Dogwood Animal Hospital and see Dr. Caughman.

First, I was forced to purchase a medication for my dog's ear infection, that I found out later, has such bad side effects on the dog's overall health in a long term. I had to pay over $150 for that and I never used it, as I did not want to compromise my dog's health over a medication that will only give temporary relief to my dog. Secondly, I called and asked information about how much would it cost to have my dog's teeth cleaned, they took my info, but never got a call back. Third, the room was dirty when we were taken back. Lastly, I understand that my dog can get dirty and smelly due to him being outside (we also have another dog who always plays with him and makes him dirty), but I feel like they didn't try to build a relationship with my dog and looked at him like his filthy. I am trying not to be judge mental here, but for someone who is supposed to care and love animals, they didn't really do a good job. I am not coming back as I think they're only there for the money and doesn't really care about my dog.

The Vet Tech was an absolute delight and very detailed in her responses to my questions. The veterinarian was one of a kind in his passion for animals, showing it goes beyond standard quality care and was clearly happy with his career. This one visit provided me with a myriad of outlets for resources along with creating an inviting environment. I do not hesitate to call as they have succeeded in reassuring me that any concerns, questions, or comments I have are their priority. LOVE the socialization of my dog. What a blessing to find! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I took my Doberman puppy here to have his ears cropped and Dr Caughman did an incredible job. The whole staff at dogwood is wonderful and treated my baby like he was their own. Even though I have to drive over 3 hours to get there I will take Gotti to Dogwood for all of his healthcare. I will add more pics once they are healed.
