I am posting because without this wonderful vet my baby would not have gotten better. The vet is great as well as the techs. She was put on apoquel (spelling check) for topical allergies. She cleared up on 2 months. I was lack of funds for a while and she wasn't on it for a month and started chewing on feet again. She is now back on for 2 weeks and is not chewing anymore. I wish it wasn't so expensive but I'll do what I have to to make the money to get those pills. Now front staff always seems so busy ... I never get a call when meds are ready either. This is a bit frustrating but I trust the doctor and so I will forgive this part.

Well. Fighting for this kittens life. We adopted her on August 11 from Paulding County Animal Control (P.C.A.C.). We were told she was 6 weeks old. Thought she was anemic due to the number of fleas and the filth on her on top of only having hard food. She was listless and weak, so we began forcing formula and water into her system. Took her to Acworth Animal Hospital (A.A.H) on August 17 and they simply said she had no issues, just under nourished, and gave us A/D high nutrition food. Oh and that she wasn't even 5 weeks old. If that. Meaning she's so young she doesn't know how to eat or drink water. She would simply stick her face into the water and lick her face to get the water from her fur. So we got a kitten that was only 3 to 4 weeks old. Or younger. The food A.A.H. told us to make her eat gave her severe diarrhea. The very next morning, August 18, she has a rattle in her chest. Which means A.A.H. missed the symptoms of pneumonia. Took her to the Carroll County Animal Hospital in an emergency and they confirmed she had an upper respiratory infection that was untreated from Paulding County Animal Control. Of which turned into pneumonia. And also noted that the food A.A.H. told us to feed her caused her to become SEVERELY dehydrated. The level of incompetence from P.C.A.C. is astounding, my fiance even pointed out to them another kitten that couldn't hold it's head up and was falling backwards. And shame on A.A.H. for not catching the symptoms of her respiratory infection and not knowing the food they recommended would cause her to become further dehydrated. I'm at a loss of words now and am just stricken with anger seeing how this is affecting not just Mercy, our kitten, but my fiance, Kristina. Not looking for money. Just want people to learn from this.

Took my whelping dog in there yesterday with her two newborn puppies . The place was filthy and dirty. The female tech put my newborn puppies right in top of my dogs urine in the kennel with spaces much to large for newborn puppies then because of how hard she shoved my kennel with newborns in my car one puppy fell out of the kennel onto the floor of my car. I didn't notice her because the girl said the babies were under the blanket. I thought she had been stolen when I got home and couldn't find her. I found her on the floor of my car. This did not come from the drive home. I blocked exit out of her kennel before if drove away. I happened while she shoved the kennel in the car. The pups should not have been in there, mom should have been, that's why I carried them in in the first place. She is now not doing well and may have permanent problems because I this! When I called the front desk this morning. He reception acted like she could care less. I will never trust my animals with this place again. Their techs are front desk staff are not trained well enough to handle newborn puppies. I am furious !!

One star is entirely too much for this place. Called them because it seem like our beloved dog of 12 years had completely lost his hearing while we were gone on vacation and wanted to know if the could fit in. They told us come in at 3:10 and were very nice on the phone. Upon arriving they told us that we owed them money for a different pet in 2009. We told them that is a mistake and they said ok go ahead and fill out the paperwork and we will get you checked in. After paperwork is turned in we sit for 10 minutes and the lady ask us to step outside to talk. She then proceeded to tell us that since my wife’s name address match a different account that was in collections that they couldn’t see our dog until the bill from 2009 was paid in full. We told the lady again that was not us and that the social security # and drivers license # shouldn’t match. She told us to hold on again. She then told us it’s ok we will just start a new account. At that point I didn’t even want to give them my business. I guess these people have a hard time believing there could be more than one person out there with the same name. Stay far far away

Extremely upset with the treatment of my 9 week old puppy. We adopted Ruger from the Fulton animal shelter on Monday Feb. 6th, he had been fixed and had shots that day as well. He showed signs of a respiratory infection late Saturday night but was on an antibiotic already, he got worse by Sunday night as I heard fluid in his lungs. Monday he saw Dr. Maxwell for his free check up and was told he had some kind of upper respiratory infection and given amoxicillin to take home. My other two dogs saw an affordable vet on Tuesday morning and were given a shot of antibiotics, sent home with a strong antibiotic and cough medicine due to catching the same thing as Ruger. Tuesday night we had to take Ruger to the emergency vet as he almost died due to having pneumonia and not having a stronger antibiotic, he obviously had fluid in his lungs for more than 1 day. The vet at the emergency vet suggested he stay overnight and was given shots of antibiotics, antibiotic nebulizer treatments and oxygen after looking at his X-rays. This has so far added up to be more than $1200.00 and almost the life of my 9 week old puppy. I feel like he didn't get better treatment because either the Dr. Maxwell doesn't know or care he is doing or because he had a free visit either way I'm livid.

My family has been taking our dogs here for over 10 years. I just started taking my dog and she loves it her favorite vet is Dr. Montgomery. And when Alena is working behind the desk she tries to jump over! My dog dog just adores this place she is ten months old and had never gone anywhere else. I can ask if she wants to go and she'll get all excited, she goes in happy and comes out even happier. I trust this vet and will continue to go here. I recommend it to anyone looking for one.

We love Acworth Animal Hospital! We have been taking our dog there ever since we rescued him (6 years ago). The vets and techs are so wonderful! I recommend them anytime a friend is looking for a new vet!

I took my cat here yesterday. The vet gave us medications and sent us on our way. My cat died this morning. The vet was terribly wrong and ended up costing my cat his life. We paid $100 only for him to pass away. Do not go here. If I would have went somewhere else he would be with us right now. I will never EVER bring another one of my pets here again.

I’ve been going there for years. Keep my dogs shot current and bring them when needed. My dog has an emergency 1 hour before they close and they tell me that they can’t take me. Very poor service.

We had to put our 14-1/2 year old chihuahua down as he had deteriorated so badly and was now starting to suffer greatly.... We did not have an appointment and it is a very busy place but they did see us within 30 minutes and we were on are way home in 45 minutes. We took our Dino with us and had him cremated. When I called, I had already spoken with no less than 10 other vet offices in the Woodstock/Kennesaw area. Almost all of them wanted a office visit fee, various handling fees, some as high as $500.00 for everything. It was so hard because it was time and most offices were trying to gouge us... The care and compassion showed us here at Acworth Animal Hospital is priceless! We have 3 other dogs and they will ONLY be seen here from now on... I would give them 5 stars and recommend them 110% to anyone needing a vet! God Bless You ALL for your care and compassion....

beautiful tragedy

This place seems to only care about money ...my sister took her cat he had a bad cold, though the girls behind the desk were nice.the vet lady and other staff wouldn't really answer many questions and my sister could not even go back with her cat in the vets office, she's lucky I was not there when I take my pets in I go with them you aren't gonna sit me out in the waiting room..my sister is young and I feel they only cared about getting that $55 cash to see the cat..they will diagnos your animal with anything just to get money I come from Tampa where we have animal collition the charge just to see your pet is usually25$, they know you dont always plan for or know when your animal will be sick, there they care about animals not the dam money n don't get me wrong I CAN affford my animals n so can she but this was a rip off .we will never go here again..

I have been taking my 3 cats to Acworth animal hospital for almost 10 years. About 3 months ago, I brought my cat in to be euthanized and cremated. The lady at the desk said they would do nothing else unless they were able to save him. The doc called me and said none of the treatment options would have a high success rate so he also suggested strictly euthanization and cremation and we discussed the price would be around $150 for both. I agreed. Next thing I know I get a bill for $300+. I spoke to the doctor himself, 3 office people, and none of them could recall the conversation and said I still owe the money. WHY would I pay for rabies shots and the other annual shots if they are about to put my cat to sleep? I PAID for the exam, euthanization, and cremation by check (WHICH THEY CASHED) along with a note explaining why I wasn't paying the rest. Fast forward today, I get a collections notice for the FULL amount of $300+. I am LIVID. It was a sad enough situation that my kids and I lost our baby but the fact that they are trying to #1 double charge me for killing him, #2 still harrassing me with this BS of giving a cat they were about to put to rest shots. I WILL NEVER RETURN. Seems like they are also trying to screw the collection agency since I already paid more than half of what they are saying I owe. I live right around the corner and am telling everyone I know. They lost a very loyal customer.

Dot ever go there. Being a customer there for 15 years means nothing to the owner and staff anymore. Something as simple as the %10 discount of my services was taken away because they changed how they feel about it. That is petty and all my pets have been taken care of there as they grew up and they all passed away there. This makes me sick to my stomach and hurts that they would rather lose $1000's of dollars of business over the years and that customer loyalty mean NOTHING at all. It used to be like Cheers, where everyone knows your name and your like family and appreciated for your years being with them to We Don't Give A Damn about your years coming here. So sad.

Erran Yearty

Great staff that is always helpful and kind to my boys Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten. Both of my dogs have had surgeries with fantastic outcomes. I have regular interactions with AAH for appointments and to reorder medications and have never had a bad experience in the 6 years that I've been taking the pups there. Thanks so much for everything that you guys do!

Stephanie Carri

Horrible experience!!!! My dog had to have his leg amputated due to cancer a little over a month ago. The doctor did not sew him up properly so he ended up with 3 types of bacteria growing in his incision. My dog had to go back into surgery so the vet could fix his mistake! The vet told us there was a possibility that he may not come back from this. We could lose our dog because of the lack of professionalism at this vet office. We have now pulled all 3 of our dogs and have gotten a second opinion!! I would not recommend this vet unless you want to pay thousands of dollars for them to do more harm than good to your animals!

The doctors and staff at this clinic are amazing. The prices of basic services, as well as more extensive operations, are incredibly reasonable. I have taken all of my animals here over the last 15 years and will never use anyone else; they have a customer for life!

I had taken all my dogs here for 10 years always had issues with pricing, quotes and simply rude staff but they were the cheapest. You get what you pay for! I was pregnant with my 3rd child had issues with my dog peeing all of a sudden. He did it more and more in the house, then started in the bed and the last straw was he blently pee'd on me. Thought it was him acting out because i was pregnant. Took him to vet and they stated he had crystallized pee so he must have a UTI, we went home treated him for that went back for follow visit still peeing every where so they do x-ray. I was told he had 2 large bladder stones and showed me x-rays. I was 2 weeks away from having my 3rd baby so we waited to do the $1500 quoted surgery they insisted we have done immediately abd not to wait to long. We did wait because we had a baby coming and needed to worry about any unexpected bills we may occur. Moved to woodstock and in the time it took us to save up to get surgery 7 months later took him to another vet after they repeatedly tried to get us in there to have the surgery. Wouldn't you know it no diet change, no bladder stones at all. The other vet was baffled as to how that occurs. Trying to take advantage of a pregnat woman makes me sick. Do not take you precious fur babies here. They will take you for all they can!!!!!! So disgusted with them.

We love this Vet. All three of my dogs go here and I'm always in and out in no time. The staff is beyond pleasant and I couldn't be happier.

I recently began going to this location as it's super convenient. And like most vets, they are very busy. I overlooked this, and continued using them until today. I took my bulldog in yesterday because of his allergies. While there, I noticed that he needed his nails trimmed, so I asked the vet if they could. I certainly expected to pay for it, but NOT $22. They charged more to trim his nails than the parasite test they performed on him?! This just didn't make sense to me. So I went back today, and asked for a refund (not a full refund, as I fully anticipated having to pay for the nail trim) but a partial one (fyi...Petsmart charges $9 for a nail trim). The worst part is that the vet never told me that it would $22 and when I went in today, their excuse for charging that amount was because it could take up to 5 techs to do it. It could, but it didn't. It took them only 45 seconds, and $22 later, they have a very unhappy customer. The verdict = because the services had been performed, they could not issue a refund. Unfortunately, they just lost a customer with 2 dogs, and sadly, all over $22.

They were unable to cure my German Shepherd's ear infection after making three different visits over the past two months. I have never had an issue with his ear infection not clearing up with other places.

I took my 8 year old pug in for his annual check up. They told me he needed his teeth cleaned and maybe one or two teeth removed. I booked the app. for the following week and dropped him off at 7 am. The vet contacted me four hours later to tell me my pug died during the procedure. This was devastating! The vet told me his heart started slowing down during the procedure until he expired. No one told me he was at risk of death from this procedure! If so, I wouldn't have taken the risk. He was a healthy pug and I took great care of him. Just be careful with your pets. Choose the right vet for your animal.

I have waited almost a year to write this review in an attempt to leave my emotions out of my review. Me and my family had been going to this location for years. From my understanding they went through an ownership change and everything went down hill. I have heard plenty of horror stories about them since but can only speak on my own experience. My cat began showing signs of fleas and I took her up one day after taking time off work to have her looked at and a bath to get rid of any dead fleas. They told me she looked good and everything was ok. I asked "so you did not see any fleas?" To which I was told no. Another week goes by and she is scratching more and more, to the point that she had patches missing of fur. I called the office and was told that everything was fine on her last visit and they would need to see her again to find out whats going on. I took more time off work and had to spend additional money to have them look at her again for something that should have been caught the first time. All it took was a minute of them combing her to find signs of fleas on the second visit... At check out I was told I would have to pay for an additional visit, I was not happy about this and explained my reasoning why I should not have to pay for a second exam in one week for something that should have been caught the first time. I told them I would be ok with paying it if they would give her another bath free of charge after we killed the fleas. They proceeded to argue with me about how a bath will not fix the flea problem.... No matter how many ways I explained to them that I understood that, that I had purchased a treatment from them that very day and wanted the bath once the issue was addressed, they just continued to state a bath would not remedy the problem. Thinking there was clearly some miscommunication I asked for a manager who proceeded to do the same thing. Their refusal to take responsibility for their mistake and lack of any attempt to rectify the situation resulted in them losing my grandfathers dogs, my sister's cat, my mothers cat and my cats business. All they had to do was waive the second exam or offer the additional bath I had originally wasted money on and everything would have been ok. Very unprofessional.

Dr Carmichael and his staff are absolutely angels. He has helped my sweet Murphy girl so much! He took her on as a rescue/emergency pup and surgery back in March and just recently performed her second surgery for another injury sustained during her attack. He and his staff have been absolutely amazing! They have worked around my crazy schedule, they've never turned me away when I needed to bring her in, even when it was the end of the day. They are truly great people and I appreciate them all so much!!

Acworth Animal Hospital is a top notch Veterinary Clinic. I speak from years of experience with them. I'm on my 4th Pup that they have cared for over the years and I have no plains of looking for a new vet any time soon. Dr. Carmichael and his staff are the best! Highly Recommended!

Brought my old pup in there today to be put to sleep. 99% of the staff were very professional and courteous. Best price in the area for a euthanasia. Highly recommend if you're in the area as so many other places were a complete rip-off for such a procedure. R.I.P Leela _

First of all I would like to thank Dr. Zachary Daniels for taking such good care of my pet Basset Hound Bojangles over the last couple of months. His surgical skills are outstanding. I would recommend him to anyone. He truly cares about animals. My one star rating has nothing to do with him. My rating stems from the way I was treated by the office staff today when trying to pay my bill. I initially arrived at 4:00 PM and waited 35 minutes for the office staff to process my bill. I offered to pay half of my bill which consisted of the following: $45.00 from a previous surgery in November; $33.00 for an office exam on 01/07/19; and $648.56 from the surgery today, 01/10/19. The total amount was $730;00 After a few moments the office staff member came back and said that I should have made arrangements to make payments with the owner. She also asked me for a copy of my driver's license and Visa card and said that they would have to withdraw the funds from my card in either two weeks or the 1st of February because their records indicated that I had made payment arrangements for the previous surgery performed by Dr. Daniels in November 2018 ($45.00) which I had been making monthly payments on. She continued to say that any future services would have to be paid in full on the day I received the service. I also signed a statement that their office could deduct the money from my Visa card on Feb 1st. It was very embarrassing for me in front of a crowded office; especially when I am a loyal customer and have been taking my dog to them since 2007; approximately 12 years. I have spent roughly $10-$15K in veterinary services and medications at this facility. I would also like to add that approximately 1 year ago I took my pet to the clinic to be kenneled. A few days latter he had trouble urinating and had a swollen groin. The veterinarian told me that he thought that he might have cancer and recommended that a tissue sample be taken. I agreed to this and the results came back negative for cancer. The vet next told me that they might not be going deep enough for the tissue sample, so another tissues sample was taken. Again the results came back negative. My pet was there for about 7 days total with kenneling, medication, and testing. The bill came to around $900.00 which I promptly paid. My pet suffered a great deal and was almost euthanized as a result of a misdiagnosis by the attending veterinarian. At no point did the vet apologize to me for thee wrong diagnosis or offer any discount or refund for his mistakes. On a subsequent visit I was told by one of the vet technicians that my pet had probably gotten the sepsis from their clinic during his kenneling. Despite all of this I continue to take my dog to this clinic and understand that we all make mistakes. But it upsets me when I am treated like a deadbeat or untrustworthy person by the the office management and staff when attempting to pay my bill and being a loyal customer for all these years. i am a senior citizen and Army veteran of 24 years. I also served as a Dept of Defense federal employee for 25 years and have a combined federal service of almost 50 years serving my country in Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, and Germany. I believe that should attest to my loyalty and trustworthiness. Not once was I ever offered any kind of military or senior discount at this facility. I suppose that is part of today's culture that all veterans like me experience today No one caress about those that have served. Oh well I will get down off my soapbox and ask that you train your staff on how to treat loyal customers that are trying to pay their bills to the best of their ability. I will continue to bring my dog to your facility because of Dr. Daniels. If he were not there I would look elsewhere. You may contact me if you wish to discuss this matter further. Thank you for your time. Jim O'Donnell

I'm actually very surprised to see how many people have said negative comments about this place and their staff. Yes, the inside is not superb, but let's be honest - it's a hospital for animals, not people, and I don't come there for the looks - it's clean and that's all that matters. The staff is absolutely wonderful! They all make you and your pet feel VERY welcome and at ease and they all had a smile on their face. It was nice to be able to call on a busy Saturday after my kitten had an incident and for them to be able to squeeze me in. I called up, told them the issue, and they said to come on by, but I'd have to wait a little bit. I had no problem with that because I knew I would have to wait on a busy day, especially with them squeezing me in. Maybe 10 minutes later, they apologized for not having a room for me yet, but took my kitten back to get everything started so when a room opened up, I'd be set and ready for results. So really, my wait wasn't bad at all! I was in and out within 30-45 minutes. They were very thorough with me the entire time, keeping me updated on what was going on in the back and what my prices would be for Xrays and the regular exam fee, so nothing was a surprise when I got the (very affordable!) bill. The way they handled my kitten with such love and care was nice to see as well. I've been driving back to Cumming from Acworth for so long to take my pets to Dr. Orr's because that's who I've had for years, but I can honestly say I don't feel the need to anymore. I feel like my pets will be in great hands with them and I look forward to bringing my pets there in the future for their yearly check ups. Thanks guys!!

Excellent Animal Hospital. Loved the front office, how fast I could get an appointment, and overall friendliness. My dog usually throws a fit when he just walks into a Vet's office. I don't remember which of the Vet's I had, but she was awesome. I have been looking for a decent Vet for a long time, and for the first time my dog was totally relaxed and even happy. HE LOVED THE VET. Great Prices too, so I will never go any place else again. So happy I found these people, Barbara

I adore this vet office, as well as the Lake City location! Dr Holland has always been up front and honest about recommendations for treatment for my fur baby, and the technicians are great too! I feel like they all truly care for our Lucy. Yes, sometimes I spend more time waiting than ideal, but it is not that way every time! Plus, one must consider that things can occur during their clinic that were not anticipated and may require more time, explanations, ect. I would recommend this vet clinic to friends and family, without a doubt!

Our very recent experience with this hospital has been great! There is truly nothing more that I could have wanted from them. Our cat Damien was looking very very bad. They did all the tests and they came back negative. They kept him overnight and treated him very well, all on the house to fit my budget! They've answered any questions I had and had gone out of their way to accommodate us, and our pet. Definitely found a hospital I will continue to use!

I took my 15yr male and 14 yr female, father and daughter, Shiba Inus for treatment. The female had been there previously and back to get groomed for dry skin problems. I brought her father in because he was behind on his vaccinations. I told the receptionist (nice lady) at the front he was aggressive. She marked his intake papers so that ALL handlers involved would know he's aggressive. I leave the office and 20 minutes later I get a call he bit a tech on the leg and broke skin. Here's the kicker, I'm told since he wasn't vaccinated he had to go on 10 day quarantine and they had to call the Animal Control?! What? Ok... I guess ?!! To make a long story short, to my surprise, this 10 day rabies quarantine had to be spent at a Animal Hospital/office (avg. cost $400) or the dog pound ($250). I'd have preferred to leave him at this vet since they are around the corner. You would've thought that since 1.) my dog was brought to THEM in the first place to get his vaccination 2.) bit one of the folks in care of him and RESPONSIBLE for administering the vaccination, and 3.) was told he was aggressive, that Acworth Animal Hospital would've offered to waive the 10 day fee or at LEAST discount the cost. THEY OFFERED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! So my 15yr old senior slightly blind arthritic dog had to spend 10 days at the dog pound for $250 (turned out to be a pretty nice clean place). I also had to pay a $90 dog bite ticket; on top of the vaccinations costs after he got out the pokey! Although a little more, Butler Creek Animal Hospital has been a blessing. Lessons learned: For Me -- 1.) don't get behind on your vaccinations 2.) don't leave your dog if not req'd 3.) For Acworth Animal Hospital -- give the dog the shots as soon as they step in the doors with the owner present 4.) Most Importantly...how you HANDLE MISTAKES are as important as not making the mistakes! 1 star because his 14yr old daughter came out fresh and clean!

They are very busy which means you have to wait and wait....and then wait some more...still waiting.....

Most of the staff is extremely rude. Depending on what Dr. you get your experience could be great or the absolute pits. The appointments are not even done in rooms I've gone 3 times and each time have been dealt with in the lobby. My mother goes here and when she had to have her 17yr old cat put down they told her results and that they would have to euthanize in the lobby. When I was hospitalized and my mother took my cat to the vet they did not record the results of his tests so my new veterinary has to start the process of diagnosing him all over again. Before I knew this I took my puppy there and they lied about what Vaccinations were given and he had an allergic reaction. Needless to say I will NEVER be back, and I will deter any from going there.

Brandy Norsworthy

Great people. Everyone is super friendly from beginning to end. Never tried to price gouge us or perform unnecessary tests. We started with inexpensive meds and diet change. It took 2 visits to get the issue under control but that was still far less than running tests, tests that many vets can be quick to recommend. The second visit included a 4 lb bag of prescription food that was priced the same as online - not inflated. Very happy with them!
