Great with my dog but what really speaks volumes is my experience with taking my hamster to see Dr. Stengard. Very few vets actually will accept exotic animals and hamsters- grateful Dr. Stengard does! Never would I have thought I'd ever have to take a hamster to the vet but when suddenly our hamster had no balance or coordination and kept falling over I had no choice. Dr. Stengard was extremely thorough in assessing my hamster and able to diagnose the problem and gave the appropriate antibiotics and now my hamster is making a quick and full recovery. More grateful than words can express bc due to her skills our Maggie is now recovering and still with us and we thought she would have to be put down so she would not suffer- now she is thriving once again! Everyone in her office was compassionate efficient and very thoughtful with their follow ups after the visits. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I am new to Florida and needed to see a vet quickly. With no recommendations of where to go so, I tried here as when I called in they said they see rabbits and were confident in their experience. One star because the vet tech was wonderful and helpful. Vet was fine. Overall poor experience at the clinic, though. Would highly suggest the veterinarians here to become more educated on rabbits before seeing anymore just to get more $ out of people. They have little to no knowledge of rabbit illnesses. Lost my best bun due to the negligence of this office. They blindly treated him. Did not have any idea what could be wrong with him if he didn’t have an injured spine. (Which he did not, they just could not get him correctly positioned for the x-ray that they took multiple times) Suggested sending x-ray off to radiology, which is unnecessary as it is the offices problem they could not get a good x-ray. I had been with my rabbit over 24 hours before he started showing signs of an internal problem. I pay very CLOSE attention to my animals. I was fine spending money on him, to actually help him, but not frivolously to send an x-ray off to show what I already knew, that it wasn’t an injury, but something INTERNAL. No possibilities of what the problem could be was discussed in over an hour of being in the office. Necropsy came back showing he had E. Cuniculi. Which is actually very common in rabbits. Unfortunately this was not even a thought in the vets mind and we had no idea until it was too late. Highly suggest the drive to DR. DIAZ in Orlando if you have anything other than a cat or dog. Wish I had the time to do the research of where to take my boy before it was too late. Very disappointed. Not all animals can be helped and that is obvious, but vets should not be taking on clients that they are not truly 100% confident in the ability to care for. These are not only pets, they are family.

My shitzu had 2 masses removed. All went very well. The doctor and staff are amazing. And very patient when I kept bugging them about money.

I am sorry I had to chose even one star to rate this vet office. The one star goes to the techs who seem genuinely concerned with their clients. I have dealt via phone with this vet as I am paying for heartworm treatment for my daughter's sweet rescue dog. My daughter has had to deal first hand with the miscommunication between staff regarding the heartworm treatment regimen. I am a healthcare professional myself and in no way should a vet run a practice like this. A treatment plan should be outlined and an estimate given with a timeline of what will happen when. My daughter chose this vet and entrusted the care of her dog in this vet hands and should no way be concerned, upset, or frustrated after a vet visit. She should feel well informed and confident that his heartworm treatment will be handled professionally and her dogs best interest are at heart and she and her dog will be treated with respect as they are the clients.

I’m so thankful for the staff and doctors at this vet . My cat smudge got hurt really bad and he had a really deep cut on his tail / hip area and we were turned down by two emergency vets because I didn’t have the money for them just to see him but they have amazing prices and they were so compassionate and understanding with our situation and they were able to see him and give him an antibiotic shot and later that day the surgery he needed. They took amazing cate of him and they were very compassionate and caring team. The wait wasn’t very long and the staff were so kind and nice. I’m going to recommend this vet to all my friends and family. Thank you so much

They called every day to follow up on us. Can’t say enough good things about them. Highly recommend them.

Our cat Fifa always being a trouble boy. And more then a year ago he got in our neighbor empty house while reastate agent showed it to a possible buyer. And he stuck there for whole month , we coulnd find him even with offered award and special calling service which calls all residence 2 mile radius arond our house. When new owners came to the house and open door he came out skinny and dehydrated . My daughter took him to his vet and they treated him as their own child. And 3 weeks ago it was another trouble again. But now I blame myself for it. Fifa has “ urine crystals” in his blader which very common I told condition, for male cats. But Fifa is very picky eater, Dr. Kattis Stengard recommended us to feed him with special food, but Fifa never even tryed it. He was sitting and waiting patiently when his regular food will be served. I had to give up and started to buy regular food for Fifa again. And one day my husband called me ans said Fifa is dragging his back legs, I thought he got paralyzed or bitten by a snake. And ask my husband to take him to emergency hospital . In 30 minutes he already was telling me they going to do surgery and it will coast $2k. As he told me there was no detailed explanation or step by step procedure . Then I called Veterinary Hospital to check if they can see him. In an hour I already knew what happened and what has to be done. Xray and some urin extraction showed the problem and it was not nessesary to do the surgery. All the steps Fifa went through he is much better now and walks and runs and playing with another cat Louis. But feeding him is still BIG problem. Have to sit and feed him from my hand, wich I cant do all the time when I have to run my own business and prepare stuff for my daughters wedding. I am very happy I did bring Fifa to Veterinary Hospital on 43rd. They called every day to check on my cat, every 2-3 days they had to do urine test and had patience when they cound get any amount of urine and had to wait. Thank you girls for all your work you have done! Many of my friends and collegs are using your service for their pets . All of them and I recomend this hospital for pets very highly !

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Stengard and her staff. They have taken wonderful care of my cat and two dogs, and have gotten all of them through various health crises. I took in a dog that I found roaming out in the country, and I hadn't realized how very sick she was until she went into anaphylactic shock. It turned out that she had a severe heartworm infection, in addition to several other health problems. She came close to death at least twice and was sometimes so weak, she couldn't even stand up. Dr. Stengard treated Marsha's heartworms and other problems with great care, and through many months. That was about six years ago, and Marsha is now a healthy, happy, silly dog. Everyone at Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital has always made me feel like nothing is more important to them than whatever dog or cat I take in. They are warm and caring, but the practice is incredibly professional. I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else.

Dr. Stenborg insisted on giving my 16 year old indoor cat a rabies vaccine. Several weeks later she developed a rare, but well documented reaction to the vaccine causing loss of motor function in her rear legs. Think carefully about this vaccine, especially if you have an older indoor pet. Always inquire about immediate and delayed side effects of any vaccine. I suspect that the risk of side effects is why humans do not regularly receive this vaccine

Avoid this vet. All they care about is the money. I had a pet emergency. They were more concerned about payment up front then the well-being of the patient. I changed to a vet that really cares. Every previous visit was paid when services rendered. I just needed a few days to pay after treatment this one time. The so called caring doctor refused. *UPDATE: The response from this vet just proved what I stated in my review. Money is more important. I needed my pet treated.

They scam called me, I have never been there, but they sent a happy birthday to a name we have a animal for but has never been to a vet in her 30 yrs of life....spooky ....are they stalkers?

I took my male cat to have an x-ray of something growing on the side of his head which required a single x-ray in the hopes of determining if it was like a tumor or an abscessed tooth, after paying the $300 in cash there was no more that I learned, she could not explain to me what it was, what caused it or what to do other than to steer me towards another vets because I had a hard time paying for the initial $300 x-ray. I will never again use this veterinarian but the staff themself were very friendly just not happy with the lack of information from the doctor.

On a very beautiful May evening, my husband took our 8 year old labrador Leo and our 3 year old Oso, a six pound pomeranian chihuahua for their nightly walk in our gated community, Grand Harbor. He had Leo on the leash and little Oso who usually walks ahead of them, for the total of a three block jaunt. With no warning, in just seconds a large german shepard came barrelling out of a open garage and attacked our little Oso. David was on the walk way across the street in total shock and taken by surprise. He managed to wrap up Oso's horrible bleeding neck wound and run home. We had feared the worse and in panic we rushed to our nearby Vet just 5 minutes away by car. They were closed, it was 8:30PM on a friday evening. All the info. for emergency on the door lead us to go to either Melbourne or Fort Pierce Emergency Hospitals. Both a 45 minute drive either north or south too long too late. No where to go with our dying animal feeling completely helpless. We called our friend Linda, who had two small dogs who were violently attacked just months before and she told us to call direct her vet, Dr Kattis Stengard and we were lucky enough to reach her by phone. She acted fast and left her home and drove to her office, opened her facility, and without any hesitation she tried to save our little Oso. This is what a caring , selfless, doctor did for us, complete strangers. She tried to save our animal. Although, sadly our little Oso died that Friday night, We are so grateful to Dr Stengard and her staff at Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital for opening its doors and hearts to try to save Oso that night. Thank you, Marilu-David-Camden-Ethan Rice

Dr. Stengard and her team are the standard by which all medical practices, human and veterinarian, should be judged. Her expertise and empathy are without boundary, and she and her team have earned the respect and trust of my entire family. I am forever grateful to her, Jill, and the rest of her team, for providing the finest care possible to my boy Brutus. 7 stars on a scale of 5.

The Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital was beyond kind to me this morning, as we had to put our 10 year old bunny, Lola, to sleep. They are caring and sensitive and hard workers. Such a smart team! Thank you again. I can't recommend them enough!

A truly wonderful animal hospital, Doc ha a fantastic staff. Their caring enthusiasm is apparent. Doc herself is an outstanding clinician. I trust my pet with her care implicitly! The office is very clean and well organized. Being a human doctor I was very selective in my choice of Dr. Stengard for the care of my new dog. We both enjoy or visits! We are looking forward to their new location

In October of last year, our youngest cat TC fell and injured his back. He couldn't walk - only drag himself around. It was heartbreaking to see. We left him with Dr Stengard for a week to keep him immobile to reduce disc swelling and monitor pain, at that time we agreed to start acupuncture to stimulate the nerves. It took quite a while and lots of care, but with each acupuncture session we could see remarkable improvement, from dragging his right back leg to limping. Today TC goes in for maintenance treatments about once a month and he is an active cat again at a slower pace, but he can jump to his favorite chair, runs or hop if he wants to get somewhere fast ---- all due to Dr Stengard's suggestion to try acupuncture. Thanks to the staff , and Dr Stengard at Vero Beach Veterinary from the Lunney's and our furballs

Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital has been treating our 2 dogs for many years now. We have been bringing my Pomeranian mix, Coco, to Dr. Stengard over the past few months for acupuncture treatment due to severe arthritis/ dysplasia issues in his hip where he could no longer jump and was in a lot of pain just walking. Wow is all I can say. Coco is now acting younger than we've ever seen him since we rescued him from H.A.L.O Rescue about 4 years ago. He is running, jumping and playing constantly. He is a very happy and energetic dog now! The attentive care and follow up from the entire staff is terrific. They truly are a loving crew where my dogs are always excited to see them and I know they are getting the utmost care.

My cat that I grew up with was taken here and my father paid a outrageous price just for an X-ray. After the X-ray the vet could not tell my father anything about what was wrong with my cat. I’m very disappointed in this place and sad that I had to put him down because we couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him. This place charged too much and I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Dr. Stengard is a super, compassionate veterinarian. She and her staff are always very friendly, knowledgeable, and provide excellent care for our two Labradors, Sparky and Sasha.

My experience wasn't a nice one at all. I took my parakeet in today to have his beak trimmed, He was playful with his little buddy Tequela, every day, chirping and singing, but having difficulty eating due to his overgrown beak. He played and chirped all the way to the vet. I was very nervous about possibly losing him to stress as he wouldn't let us handle him. Very skittish. The assistant got him out of the cage and held him in the cloth while Dr. Stenborg got out the dremmal or however you spell i,t and said that there was a chance he could go into shock and die from the procedure from stress which I had heard could happen, but due to the long beak decided we had to take the risk. She assured us that it had never happened during her practice. I was not impressed when she went at him with a dremmel on a tiny little point the size of a needle. He wasn't a parrot with a huge beak. I expected little scissors of some sort to snip off the point. She kept at him with the dremmel and I knew he was frightened to death.. Literally..., The assistant said uh oh..we need to get him on oxygen. I was dying when they took my little Tico out of the room. I said a praye,r but to no avail. She brought him back in quite a few minutes later dead in the little cloth and apologized, but with absolutely no feeling. I understand she is used to death of pets. but a little more feeling would have been nice. My heart was broke as she passed him in the little cloth to me and asked me if I wanted to take him home to bury. She began to show me some skin under his feathers on his neck and said he was jaundiced which she said could be a liver condition. Maybe so but he played, ate like a little horse and sang all the time and all the way to the veterinary, so I'm not so sure he was sick, but I know she had to blame it on something to make me feel a little better which didn't help a bit. My little chirping bird went in and I felt so guilty that I took him there and blamed myself all day and tonight that I killed him. My heart is broke tonight and the only thing I regret is that I didn't wait til and take him to a bird veterinarian in Sebastian who may have handled the procedure a lot different, but couldn't get in until Thursday, and felt so bad for the poor little guy struggling to eat with that long beak. I asked Dr. Stenborg if she had done this procedure before and was assured that she does it everyday, but I notice there are no reviews about anyone taking their birds to her. Just accupuncture with dogs and cats, so I have no way of knowing if she is experienced with birds, but I do know my little Tico is gone and he was playing and chirping this morning. They just left the room and I didn't see her or the assistant after that. Not a lot of caring in my opinion. He may be a parakeet, but he still was my pet. I did ask what I owed them and they said oh my goodness nothing. I believe it would have been a lot less stress had she just got out snippers and snipped off the long point instead of a freaking drummel at him. The noise in his face was not a good way to leave this world if you ask me. Sorry for the grim review, but not all of us are happy with our outcome. Debbie & Scott Calhoun..sad owners of our little Tico Parakeet of 3 yrs.
