The team at Palmetto was compassionate and caring when it came to taking care of my dog Leah. She was so sick, and required an IV 3x a day… the staff came in on weekends and nights to tend to her care. As far as cost goes, they are fair. Perfectly fair. Health care for animals is expensive, just like people. To those who complain about cost, get pet health insurance. There isn't a price I can put on good care for my animals. Dr Curtis is the best. If you want the BEST care, go here.

I was one of the first clients when Palmetto Animal Health Center first opened. They have everything I look for in a vet: compassion for the animals; up-to-date technology and knowledge; and the unusual ability to communicate with pet owners. Several years ago I moved over an hour away from Palmetto. I continued to bring my animals to Palmetto, as they were aging and Doctor Curtis knew them very well. However, after my last aging dog and cat passed away, it seemed more practical to establish a relationship with a Veterinary close to my new home, for my new, and younger animals. After a reasonable time, and treatments and communication that was unsatisfactory, in my view, I returned to Doctor Curtis and Palmetto Animal Health Center. Everybody on staff was then, and is now, friendly, professional and caring. I'm already much happier with the treatment my dog is receiving for a chronic condition which will last a lifetime. The knowledge, genuine caring for my dog and superior communication skills at Palmetto make that fact easier to handle. As at any vet, prices can be higher than one would like sometimes, but pets are expensive, though worth it. I will continue to make the hour drive and keep going to Dr. Curtis and Palmetto as long as I live in the central Florida area.

They are cutting edge with different options in treatments and I know when I take any one of my pets (4) that we are getting the best up to date care. I've been going there for 10 years now and have never been dissapointed. And also they have evening hours during the week which helps with my work schedule.

Brought my dog for a surgery was charged around 750$ (found it pricey but thought as long as he heals I'm fine),then was asked to bring him back for a check what I did but then was charged an extra 60$ and this didn't make sense to me because the surgery price should include a check .I called the doctor to notify him about this extra cost LVM but never called me back or provide me any logical explanation as the receptionist didn't seem to care much and did what she was asked to do by the doctor replacement who did the check.

Bought my baby guinea pig in, I thought she had an ear infection, they said my guinea pig did. So they treated her just for that waited 2 hours for them to treat it. Costed $150.00 crazy! The meds worked, well only the pain meds, for three days than after that my guinea pig got worse than the first time I brought her in. She had a bad head tilt, would run in curccirthan fall over, run into things. Than in the 3rd day after the pain meds were gone, she couldn't even walk without flipping onto her back wouldn't eat or drink her head tilt was way worse than the first time I brought her in. So my boyfriend brought her back in and than gave her bacterial infection injections and fluids, treating her with stuff complete opposite of an ear infection. Costed $180.00 so 5x worth what I bought for my baby guinea pig. So I called told them I shouldn't have to pay for the original$150. Cause it didn't work and they treated her for just a bacterial infection not an ear infection.i argued with the doctor and she was rude saying the medicine did make her better, even though I had to bring my guinea pig back in cause she was doing worse. So I'm never going back there. Complete rip off, my baby guinea isn't doing any better. Only place around me that takes guinea pigs, so of course they'll charge an arm & a leg for any desperate guinea owner. Calling my card company to fight this.

We found a ten day old kitten that was separated from its mother. We called the clinic late afternoon and was able to see the vet later that evening and establish care. Visits to Palmetto Animal Health Center are a very positive experience for the pet and it's owner. The Doctors and Staff always greet us when we walk in and of course call the pet by name and make it a happy experience. I've used PAHC for day sitting and my dog is happy to stay and the techs are great for greeting her and talking to her as they proceed to the back. Today, was an appointment for a teeth cleaning and since my dog is almost 8 years old, I had some concerns about the surgery but the staff was fantastic in reassuring me and later in the day they called to give a progress report. When I picked up Khloe the surgery tech reviewed the procedure and medications and answered all my questions. I recommend PAHC. Lynn Vannier

I have a lot to say, so my kitty Cleo was 12 years old. She came down sick and we got really worried. We no one of the Vets there and called her and took my Cleo to her. They looked at her and spend a lot of time with her and put her on some medicine. Cleo is doing great for 3 years! She got sick again one day we called the vet I am brought her in they prescribed her some more medicine and kept her alive for a couple months. One day we knew that it was time it was a Sunday we called our friend the vet and she came in on Sunday to let us go in with her and put my Cleo down. I'm so thankful for the three years and two months more that I got to spend with my Cleo thanks to Palmetto! Thank you forever.

Stay clear of this so called pet hospital. Just got done taking my dog there, she was attacked by another dog. This place was the only place open and during regular business hours they tried to charge me emergency fees. When I called them all they said was bring her in, so I assumed that it was like a regular appointment fee. When I questioned it and denied the estimate they still tried to charge me a good chunk of change. When I said I wasn't paying the emergency fee that is when they became rude. The receptionist was rude to me and tried to talk down to me, both the veterinarians talked down to me and was interrupting me every time I tried to talk. I was in scrubs because I go to school for something in the medical field and a 9 year Marine Corps veteran and was getting talked down to and disrespected to because they want to over charge everyone that comes in there. I don't recommend this place to anyone, they claimed they had emergencies in the back, but apparently wasn't that big of an emergency if they had time to talk down to me and disrespect me. The worst professionalism I have ever seen in my life.

They take the time to really explain what's wrong or going on either your animal and what will benefit them in the future. Excellent, compassionate care. They not only take care of my own cats, they accepted a TNR cat that I trapped to neuter on the same day when other vets wanted me to make an appt for 4 days later. You can't keep a feral cat in a trap that long. I didn't want to risk letting him go and never catching him again so I was very grateful that they took him right away. I released him the same day. I will definitely recommend Palmetto Animal Health Center in Mount Dora. My Chihuahua was showing symptoms concerning enough for me to look up the closest vet's office and since it was already almost 9 at night there was very little tt 26th since most offices were already closed for the evening . Palmetto Animal Health Center closes at 9 and I spoke with them around 8:30 p.m. asking their opinion as to what I should do for her and they didn't hesitate to tell me bring her in now. I was able to make it there 10 minutes before they closed. The overall visit lasted maybe 45 minutes if even but they were very determined to help Molly feel better and also gave me the best options and advise not only towards the financial aspect of the visit but also gave me information as to where to bring her incase her symptoms didnt subside. The office was clean and staff very friendly and genuine. Thanx gyys

A neighbor recommended this vet for my cats when I first moved in. My in/out cat came in limping and by the next day his paw was swollen, I called and they were able to see us that night since they have evening hours (I know, right?). They told me on the phone they would take a deposit of $150 then I just pay the remainder after. The Vet was great with Parker and she informed us of everything up front so there were no surprises. I was very pleased and my little guy was back to himself the next day.

My father in law took my cat here a couple days ago. He was shivering and sneezing at home. Since he didn't actually sneeze in front of the vet, they did NO TREATMENT. They didn't take our word for it that he was sick, looked at him for 5 minutes, did nothing and sent him on his way. Told us to come back if he got worse. Well, of course, he was shivering and sneezing all night long. We took him to a different vet this morning and my 8.63 lb cat is now 7.1 lbs. In less than 3 days. He's VERY sick, dehydrated and on antibiotics. Will never go back here because they wanted my cat to be miserable enough for them to physically see before they would help him. They didn't have a problem charging me $56 to do nothing, either.
