I have been seeing Dr's Bill and Gary since they opened the clinic. I have greyhounds which apparently react differently than most other dogs to procedures as well as their bloodwork is different. These doctors have always treated me and my pets with care and dignity. I have watched their staff grow and some folks are better than others - but that is true in any clinic. My daughter is interested in veterinary medicine and the docs allowed her to watch and discussed some of the simple procedures they did in the office. I could not imagine taking my pets to any other clinic in the Wichita area.

Today I called and spoke with Brittany. As most animal lovers know, when something is wrong with your belived pet, youre highly upset. I was not expecting a diagnoais, just some guidance as to wether I should bring my cat in right away, or just a flu type deal that I can monitor. This 'supervisor', after me bawling my eyes out, explaing the symptoms, completely ignored me on the phone, and turned around and spoke with another one of her coworkers, leaving me to hear the entire conversation with said co-worker while waiting for her response. When I asked her what kind of customer service that was, she said 'that was her customer service'. Next, she then let me know that her customer service didn't matter, because I couldn't afford to bring my pet in for an examination anyway. Regardless of my payment situation, she had no right to put me down in that sense. Letting her know that regardless of my payment situation I have many, many, friends with pets that can afford to bring them to her facility and will be letting them know to NOT bring there animals there because essentially they do not care and I would not be surprised if they let your animal die. So Brittany, your quote supervision position unquote is a huge crock of s*** and I better not meet you in public.

We were from out of state and our dog was in pain when going to bathroom. We had no idea what could be wrong and were extremely concerned. We called two other clinics first thing in am and they couldn't get us in. We called this clinic and they said of course, be here at 230. They took excellent care and office visit, xrays and meds were 150. I thought that was great. UTI was diagnosis. No blockage which is what we were worried about. When we first started going to Heartland in 2012 for our Jack Russell our initial feeling was that they were trying to maximize out bill to care for our dog. Maybe it was because our previous vet did very little other than provide shots. Over the last seven years they have proven that they truly had Petey’s best interest at heart. They took amazing care for him for a couple different ailments and was very supportive and caring right up to the end. We have no doubt that there are plenty of great vets but we definitely recommend Heartland.

One visit to Heartland Animal, and they had him on different meds and even cleaned up his ear issues.. to think of ny digs sugfering for years from someone elses bad diagnosis! I have a 5 month old, 2 pound dog that I was given when he was 5 weeks old. Other vets in the area, wouldn't neuter him unless he was 4 pounds and they wanted $200+ to do it. Even the Humane Society was expensive by the time you added their fees for this and that. For the price everyone else charged just for a neuter, Dr. Reddick did the neuter, laser therapy on the surgery site, microchipped him, gave him an antibiotic injection, pain medicine injection, AND, because his sibling pooped worms, Dr. Reddick also checked his stool, and gave him tapeworm medicine as a precautionary. I can't say enough good about Dr. Reddick and her staff. They go above and beyond to care for your pet. I am so glad my dog groomer told me about them.

Our 14 year old feline was very sick the end of last year. I cannot express how wonderful Dr. Reddick and all the staff treated her and us. We were fortunate to have her an additional two months. I have to say I was in panic mode and am not sure I could even comprehend that she was so weak and we needed to let her go in peace. Dr. Reddick is amazing, delivering the devastating news. A friend recommended a different animal hospital for my dogs because this one was generally more expensive than others in the area, but I wanted to try it because of the attached play and stay. Initially, the staff was friendly and quick to schedule appointments. However, what changed my opinion is that I was recommended a procedure for my dog that he didn't need. I have been to several different vets in other areas I have lived, and this is a red flag for me. I want to always do what's best for my pets, but I also don't have an endless budget for tests/exams/etc and need a vet who can help me make the best decisions with that in mind. When I found out that my pet didn't really need the recommended procedure, the vet made me feel as if I didn't want what was best for my pet. I have had some really great vets in the past, but I feel as if this animal hospital is focused too much on the bottom line rather than solid, appropriate care for animals. If you need to balance pet care with your budget, I think there are better options in the area.

Update: Ive pulled all my pets from this clinic, and my parents have done the same. Although my initial reason for losing the praise I used to have for this place has since been resolved by her leaving, The vet that after following their suggestions, managed to lose most of the time i had left with an older cat by quarantining it from the other and eventually i was forced to euthanize.) My parents were forced to go through a different but similar situation with one of their own cats. Originally brought in with a lump on its nose and foot, they were told on more than one occasion that there was nothing to be done as surgery was not an option (not sure why) and to just make the cat comfortable by a doctor that is still working at this location. Eventually, months after the initial diagnosis, I talked them into trying another clinic for a second opion. That office took biopsies of both growths and sent off to KSU for review. The result was both good and bad. The good part was that the problem was actually treatable after all, using oral medications and shots. The bad part was that it had progressed too far, and went past the point that those medications could fix the problem. If identified even a month earlier, that would not have been the case. This clinic never even attempted a biopsy. If they had, then that cat would without doubt have recovered. While I like the staff here, and the doctors who are currently practicing here are friendly, they apparently are not trained to diagnose issues with cats as well as some other vets are. That alone will keep me from bringing my pets here. In addition, the fact that they charged over $300 to euthanize my cat when i couldnt afford the $3000 surgery with the 50/50 chance of success, and had the audacity to heavily imply that I was the cause for my cats death. That same cat that they told me to quarantine after he tore his ACL jumping off a staircase then had his bladder burst while resting in a bedroom with all furniture removed, filled with toys and blankets but nowhere to jump. I still tear up every time think about him, since I had rescued him 2 days before he was to be euthanized at the old shelter almost 15 years before, him sleeping in a litterbox that filled his entire cage, his white fur turned grey and matted. I also get extremely upset whenever I think of the accusation in the eyes and words of the female vet that was supposedly there to help me come to terms with putting him to sleep so he didnt suffer more. Between my parents and I, we have had 6 cats, a dog, and a ferret cared for over the course of about 18 years at this location alone, back to when it was the Kutter clinic. We hand fed most of them by syringe both at the beginning and end of their lives. All the cats were strays found in dumpsters and in old sheds, or rescues from kill shelters. They were all spoiled as much as myself as a kid. Suggesting that I did something to cause any of them pain is a hard slap to the face. Not taking steps to identify a treatable ailment and therefore indirectly costing that animal a chance to be healthy for years more, is another even worse slap. I cant talk for the quality of treatment for their dogs or anything else, but I will NEVER trust this place with one of my cats again. The Wichita Cat Hospital is an excellent facility for treating cats, and the Vet there is amazingly knowledgeable as well as extremely friendly and helpful. I would suggest, for cats at least, that they can offer better service than Heartland currently is capable of.

Dr. Riddick is the best. Her staff is wonderful. My little cat, Oreo, was very sick with IBD. She was literally starving to death, no matter how much she ate. Loose stools daily made her listless, and too fatigued to move about. The doctor took time to do testing, and with proper medication ad an adjusted diet Oreo began to respond positively. Today she is eating and starting to gain back weight. My little cat is thriving!!! Thank you Heartland, from the bottom of my heart. Ellen and Oreo.

I bring both of my dogs here. When Penny, my Havapoo, developed an small infection after her spay surgery, the staff were extremely helpful. They let me bring her right in, the Dr checked her out and gave her a prescription, then they followed up with me a couple days later to make sure she was doing better. I couldn’t ask a better Vet!
