I wouldn't want anyone else to see my fur baby. I have no doubt he is getting the treatment he needs rather than a bunch of fluff. I also know that he is well taken care of when he needs to stay overnight or requires more invasive treatments. Everyone is amazing there - the front office staff, the techs, the vets -- we love you all. Thank you for the peace of mind we get from using your services.

Have to make a big correction,first time I did this stars wouldn't come up for 5. Then I lost this. Now I got the 5 stars that I wanted. Heart of Florida best place going there 15 years. They have been good to my 2 dogs,1 cat. Every time I called they have helped me,it's hard when pets get sick, it's a good feeling heart of FL. Is there to assist They have been my other family. Every one is great. Hugs to all. Vets are great. I couldn't live without them. I've had emergencies always there. God bless them all. Your pets are in good hands here. I trust them that is why I've been going for 15 years. Friendly staff understanding problems when called.

The primary vet is so good and keeps up on the industry so he is able to get certain medications even before all the extremely expensive vets. Without him both of my cats would have died 5-10 years ago. Also, they have a wonderful boarding facility and an attentive and awesome staff. This is not one of those vets that happens to board, they have an entire separate building, and will follow feeding and special care instructions to the letter. Additionally, even though it is called “Heart of Florida...” it has NO relation to the Heart of Florida family of human death doctors nor the hospital, so please do not be dissuaded by the name.

David Wilkerson has been caring for our animals for 27-28yrs both farm & pets. When my son was 8, he was there on a late night call & saved his ferret's life, my doberman broke her leg, he expertly place a rod in her leg. He saved her life & gave her years of running joy. His staff is reliable & caring & many have been there long term. They will care for your pets like their own.

My dog Dale hurt his shoulder on a Saturday morning. I didn't have an appointment or anything but the front staff was so very nice they were able to fit him in and the doctor was so good with dale while he was in pain. I would recommend this office to anyone that are an amazing team.

I was very unhappy with the care they gave to my pets. They almost killed my cat by keeping him on IV therapy overnight with the IV not properly inserted into the vein. They said that my cat would be monitored throughout the night but that could not have happened because the next morning, all the fluid had seeped into my cats stomach and rotted out all his skin...which they said was exactly what happened. Eventually his entire body had lost all fur and skin! It looked like a gruesome horror movie and all because he was not watched properly during therapy. Was extremely upsetting. I have since changed vets and am very happy with my new vet. As a registered nurse myself, I was very unhappy about the the way both I and my pets were treated. Very overpriced, they require testing that is not necessary (and I am one to go above and beyond with my pets), and they seem to be more about the money than the care of the animals (I will pay top dollar for the best care, but this was not the best care). I usually don't post negative comments in reviews, this is my first negative review actually, but I felt the need to do so after what happened with my cat. I hope they have improved since this horrible event happened.

Dr. Wilkinson is top notch since I have been going there around 1997 he has taken care of my family by family I mean my dogs they are part of my family he has saved two of their lives through surgery from them eating toys (that’s my fault ) but with his surgical skills he has brought them through. My latest dog has hip issues which he has taken care of and I’m sure they will have to have surgery in the future which I trust him implicitly . The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are very reasonable. I would trust Dr. Wilkinson with my own life , he is a great guy and really does his homework. It is a great group of professional people that I trust with some of the most loved parts of my family. You pet owners know what I mean. Don’t hesitate to take your pets to them they treat them as their own . Thank you Dr. Wilkinson and your great staff.

This place was a nightmare. Staff isn't friendly. Little nippy dog in the office. My baby has food allergies and came home with a rash, visibly lost weight (they said he was eating when I called to check on him), and now he cries in his sleep. Not sure who gives them 4 stars, i just didn't see it.

I have been with this vet for 6 years and have had nothing but excellent care and customer service for my animals, and up until this week, I have had 6 animals, (3 dogs, and 3 cats). This week I had to have 2 of my dogs put to sleep. They were both almost 14 yrs old, which is very old for large dogs as they were. They both had multiple age related problems, and could barely get around anymore. The vet and staff all agreed it was the humane thing to do. Four years ago I had 4 cats. One of them developed a blood clot in the large abdominal artery and it paralyzed her back end. The vet said they could do surgery, but did not recommend it because she was developing clots due to low cardiac output, which is congenital. I am a registered nurse, and asked about blood thinners,and the vet said it doesn't work the same in cats as it does in humans. They could have strung me along for a lot of money in surgery and meds, but they didn't. In fact when I asked the vet what he thought, he flat out said the humane thing to do was to let her go. This week when I had to go through the same with my dogs, they cried right along with me. On the way to the vet for their final visit, one of my dogs defecated in the car on the way there. She was sitting in it, so it was smashed all into the cloth seat. One of the techs came out with a roll of paper towels and bleach spray, and cleaned the seat. He got it all! Now that is customer service!

I can't even get these people to answer their phone. Then finally someone answers and hangs up on me before I can finish my first sentence. Not very professional is you ask me. I have dealt with them in the past and the service was adequate, but that was 4 years ago. Seems things may have gone downhill since?

The receptionist is unfriendly. She doesn't speak directly to you. She doesn't speak clearly. Arrived early being first time, to fill out one sheet of paperwork. But still waited to be seen. Pour customer service! The doctors where ok. The exam took 2 minutes, didn't seem thorough at all. Was given two shots to my puppy and that really was it. Will be looking elsewhere for future services for my puppy. Sad!

Bedside manner is very important to me and I truly appreciated Dr. Wilkinson's frank and informative manner. I didn't get the answers I wanted, the ones I expected... just not the ones I wanted. I found the staff to be very friendly and compassionate. Dr. gave me several options and the information I needed to research my choices... we are losing our Buster but I am confident in my choices thanks to the information provided to me. I will be back. I have been in the dog "business" for over 50 years, my reputation is important to me... I've trained, showed, bred, run a Petco daycare and now I paint dogs for a living... I would not hesitate to recommend these folks.

This one star is just for the front desk staff who are great. I had a terrible experience with this vet. My puppy, Biggie broke his leg and we took him to the ER vet and they placed him in a splint. Well needless to say being a rambunctious puppy about two weeks later he decided to jump right into the pool. I took him to our vet HOF animal hospital. Dr. Watt's put a new splint on it but Biggie wasn't walking the same. He never put pressure on the new splint like he had the other one that was done at the emergency vet. About a week later I noticed Biggie wasnt eating much and only wanted to sleep all the time. I also noticed a smell in his cast and that limp was still there. I took him back to Dr. Watt's who decided he had a stomach bug. Gave him meds and sent us on our way. He never looked at the splint and when I mentioned it he said it was probably just something he ate. A couple more days go by and the smell is getting worse. I took him back to the ER vet who had initially put his splint on. When they took his splint off they said he had sores that were infected from a splint that wasn't padded enough in those areas.My puppy didn't have cast sores THE week before when Dr Watts changed the original splint th ER had put on. He said everything looked great when he removed the splint. A piece of the plastic from the splint had rubbed my poor dogs skin to the bone. No wonder he limped right from the start with the splint that Dr. Watt's had put on. Now I am taking Biggie to Fetch in Brandon where he is having wound care twice a week all because a doctor I trusted put a splint on inadequately. Also Dr. Watts had told me that my puppy was going to need surgery for the fracture because his leg had not healed. When he saw the specialist in Brandon they said his leg is completly healed. I tried to contact the office about my concerns and never got a call back from the office manager. I would advise anyone looking for a vet to think twice before going here. I am so disappointed because I had heard great things about Dr. Wilkinson but we never got to see him. Dr. Watt's is fresh out of vet school and clearly has a lot to learn. He will not be learning on my baby and thankfully being a diligent pet owner my baby won't lose his leg.

When I went to rate Dr. Wilkinson yesterday some how some way it showed I had given him a one star. Do not know what happened I rated him 5 star but it came up to be one star . So far from the truth , Dr. Wilkinson is the BEST VETERINARIAN WE HAVE EVER HAD HE IS AWESOME !!! His staff is great they all treat you like family . I highly recommend them !!!

Wow, my dog has bad allergies and I can tell when she needs help. I was immediately worked in, Dr. Keyes saw the red on my dog, gave my dog a shot and within 5 minutes her ears and body were no longer red. We spend six months here in Haines City and had been looking for a vet and a kennel for our pampered pet Max. Called made an appointment to have Max seen and was surprised that I could go in that afternoon. Met the entire staff and they were all very professional and friendly. I inquired about the kennel next door and they right away said I could go over and check it out. I did just that. When I walked in I was greeted with a smile and they showed me around. This kennel was very, very clean! The prices are super you cannot get this type of service anywhere else. I would highly recommend Heart of Florida Animal Hospital and Pet Resort.
