Definitely late on my review, but Dr. Bruce is the best! A few months back he diagnosed my veiled chameleon, Ivory, with metabolic bone disease. Immediately he got her started on a healthy medication regiment and worked with me the next months while she battled MBD. He was always very accommodating and never failed to answer my questions personally- no matter how silly. Him and the entire staff are very knowledgeable and he's great at telling it like it is! After a long battle her progress stopped and her health drastically declined and after passing away, Dr Bruce and his office sent a card with their condolences. That meant the absolute world, it still hangs on my wall. I am so fortunate to have found a vet and staff that is so kind and professional. They have exceeded all expectations! THANK YOU!

AVHO / Dr. Bruce has been the primary vet for our dog for a few years now. The entire staff is always professorial, friendly and caring towards both owners and pets. Our dog recently had surgery to remove a tumor and it was easy and convenient to schedule and deal with both the surgery and follow up appointments. The facility is clean, spacious and in a convenient location at the corner of Oak Ridge and Orange Blossom Trail. They are up front with the cost estimates, and we have never had any surprises when it comes time to pay. We highly recommend Dr. Bruce and his team for any of your pet's needs.

I had appt with this office on Friday 1/11/19 to have a check up for my dog to have his ears clipped. I got a flat on OBT and call and spoke to NOX who said still come in but never mention the $15 late fee, Then Susan called me and asked if I was still coming I said "Yes I just spoke to Nox" she stated "they will be a late fee because they have to stay after 5pm" ( I guess in their perfect life they never had an unexpected moment) I still took my puppy because it was important. She didn't even mention that I could've bring him on Saturday before 9am ( Because that is an option) I took my puppy and got his vaccines etc and checked out. They required 25% down payment for the SX which was $102.00. On Saturday my precious king was stolen from our front yard and a police report was made, and flyers post etc. I called Monday at 8am and spoke to Susan who was so cold, immediately she states " deposits aren't refundable and today was the last day to bring him in" I said " Did you hear what I said HE WAS STOLEN !" She stated" OH MY I didn't hear that hold on" then came back and said again" No refunds" I said " Susan you should listen to understand not to reply because I never asked for a refund but now I am curious if I got another dog could I use that balance?" She said" No" … I said Okay Thanks. I say that to say this : A animal hospital should be friendly, have compassion and be understanding. No sympathy was given . I have all my proof showing the dog was stolen and not even a " Im sorry to hear that King was stolen" It is called an unexpected event. If I get another dog I will NOT seek services from this office.

Dr. Bruce is the best veterinarian I have ever had. When I had to put down a dog I had for 14 years, he was compassionate and genuinely interested in both my emotional state and the treatment of my dog. Since then, I have a new dog that he has cared for since she was 10 weeks old. His care and knowledge are outstanding and I would recommend his practice to anyone. My parents and I have been taking our dogs to Dr. Bruce since we moved to Orlando in '94. He's been the vet to our three Schnauzers for 20+ years and was there for the passing away of all three. Now that my boyfriend and I have a dog, we take him to see Dr. Bruce, as well. The staff here are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, and the vet techs are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Dr. Bruce always proceeds with the care and diagnosis of our pets as if they were his family member, and his problem-solving tactics for diagnosing an allergy problem in our border collie/aussie shepherd were thorough and scientific (SOLVED!). He always goes over every detail of any medication he prescribes and answers questions respectfully and honestly. I suggest this office to everyone.

Today a pregnant women showed up to the clinic with some kittens she found in her car. She asked the vet to take them or help her find a place to bring them. They were extremely nasty and turned her completely away. Upon trying to leave she realized another kitten was in her bumper & asked for help getting the kitten out because she couldn’t reach it and didn’t want to drive with the kitten stuck. The owner then proceeded to threaten calling the cops on her and have her arrested if she didn’t leave his property. What kind of person, let alone a so called vet, pushes away 3 week old kittens? Then threatens calling the cops on a PREGNANT woman trying to do the right thing? This veterinary clinic clearly only cares about money & leaving work on time. I STRONGLY advise NOT bringing your beloved pet to a place where they could care less about animals. I’m only giving them one star because that’s the only way I can share with the community the type of place this really is.

I was very impressed with the care and attention my pet and I received at Animal Veterinary Hospital of Orlando. I was unable to make an appointment, but was still seen promptly as a walk in. I am the proud owner of very large pit bull, and am happy to see that the doctors and nurses love all types of animals, and delivered the best care regardless of breed. The doctor that I saw got down on the floor with my pet Max and let him lick him all over the face, allowing Max to be comfortable, and build trust in the people caring for him. The vets office can so often be a terrifying experience for pet and owner, and I am happy to have found a place that made not only me, but my best friend as comfortable as possible. I will definitely be returning to this establishment in the future, and recommending it to my friends and family for their four-legged babies.

Dr.bruce is an amazing vet! I have been bringing all my animals to this man for years! Be before me my parents brought our pets to him and he taken care of them every single time. It's not all about money with this vet it's about the animals well being he cares so much. My pitbull maroon caught parvo and she was literally in deaths hands other vets just recommended me to put her down or take her to an emergency vet and quoted me over 2000 to save her life. She showed her first signs of parvo at night when most vets are closed. So I had to patiently wait and do everything in my power to keep her alive till I could get her to dr.bruce cause no one else was willing to help and financially emergency vets were not an option. When I was finally able to get her to dr.bruce he gave me 3 options and out of my 3 options none were to put her down. He saw hope in her. And after 3 days of out patient care the option I chose with him putting a solution under her skin she showed signs of happiness again dr.bruce saved my dogs life for WELLLL under 2000 I believe it was under 400. He has helped my animals in so many ways he cares about the animals well beings and I will never take my animals to another vet this man is the best there is and I trust him with their lives.

I was thrilled to find a vet willing to see my guard dog and he seemed knowledgeable about my concerns. His recommendations we very expensive and included ongoing monthly expenses. Another day we went to this vet with a different dog (we have three), he was in a terrible mood- treated his staff very disrespectfully. To begin our appointment, he entered the room to see my dog and hear why we came in. He started barking test names at the assistant. When he finished his rant - I asked what costs might I expect to diagnose to problem. "Tell me you have $500 to spend on this right now!" he demanded. "I dont." I replied. "Tell me you have $300 to spend," was his next =. "Uh..." I paused- caught off guard by his demanding tone and candor. "You're tying my hands here- I can only treat the symptoms on YOUR budget." ..nothing improved after that point. Haven't been back.

When I moved to Orlando three years ago, I went to the internet to find a veterinary practice close to my home, and with some decent reviews (I’m an avid yelper so I went there). I brought my 8 year old indoor cat in for a checkup and was THRILLED! First, the place is clean! It never smells like urine or that weird sterilizing cleanser so many vet offices get. The office staff is friendly, and genuinely cares about both patients and their humans. They are understanding and compassionate through good or bad news (our youngest kitten first delivered a positive FIV/lukemia result and they saw in my face how sad I was and explained options as well as reassurance that it was a very faint positive so we could retest and go from there. Happy to report she is negative and healthy as of this mornings visi). Dr. Bruce is wonderful. He will tell you as much or as little as you would like to know. He doesn’t try to sell you on the most expensive treatment, often he will tell you a few different options so you can find one within your budget. He is sweet to your pet, and after many years in his field is still excited about his work (as I was leaving there was a phone call for Two sick snakes coming in and he was as excited as a kid on Christmas). I’ve seen hedgehogs, chameleons, even kittens up for adoption when I’ve been in on my visits. I now drive 35 minutes to go to the vet, insanity if you consider that I live next door to a veterinarian office, but I know my fur kids are well taken care of going to dr. Bruce and as long as I’m living in Orlando that’s where we will go.

The staff was very friendly! Because of financial reasons, I brought my rat in for euthanasia long past when it should have been done. I wasn't shamed for it, and that was my greatest fear. Dr. Bruce was warm, understanding, and treated my little rat with the same dignity he would anyone's pet. His price for this service was very low compared to every other hospital I called. I would highly recommend this Veterinarian.

Updated. So the day came when the chips were down and the doc came through. Choking incident. So I've up'd him a star to 5. Old post follows. I really can't say how this will work out. You never know how any doctor (human or otherwise) will work out until the chips are down. I've had very expensive vets misdiagnose my pets as well as less expensive ones. I've had vets tell me that they can give "palliative care" (for who?) that will extend life for maybe 6 weeks at a cost of $4,000. I've been bringing my latest dog here for about 4 years and so far the service has been excellent. Recently the doctor began pushing a new vaccine. I was suspicious since it is new to me, so before I agreed to it, I went online and everything I read agreed with what he said. Since then there have been a few articles in the newspaper about it and yes, it's a problem that dogs should be vaccinated against in the Orlando area. I'm going to give him 4 stars for now because like I said, until I bring in an animal with a deadly terminal cancer or something like that and see what he says about what to do about it, I can't say for sure. I understand that all vets are in a spot when someone brings in a dying animal and that different people have different price points, but what I hate is when the doctor doesn't want to give you the bad news in person and sends in a kid to lay out the estimate sheet, like the "practice managers" tell them to do.

Dr. Bruce is my go to vet for my reptiles. He has been taking care of my 21 year old iguana for most of her life. He and his staff have also taken great care of my 4 other iguanas and most recently my newly rescued Uromastyx lizard. I highly recommend him - especially if you have exotic pets.

so evidently, if you are a "normal" pet owner and don't have a raw meat eating pit bull, a batch of guinea pigs with sex organs that are even hard to discern for a vet and you don't plan on skipping town without paying your bill or abiding by the written instructions this place would be a good place to bring your pet. I like how this doctor responds to the bad reviews and it seems that dog and cat owners like the service. Of course you can't make all the people happy all of the time and some people just don't want to be happy and no matter what you do they will complain even when being informed. That's the year 2016. The age of entitlement and no responsibility. I do hope the front desk is polite as they were also mentioned and usually the front is a reflection of the back. So I might give it a try and without having had a bad experience I must give 5 stars as it would be unfair to damage the average score without an actual experience. So we'll possibly see you soon. I hope your exam prices are reasonable.

Unfortunately Google does not alloy the owner to post a reply to any comments, so I am posting this as a review. Danielle Snitzer. First I want to state it is very difficult to determine the sex of newborn guinea pigs, if you don't believe me just Google it or ask another veterinarian. Second, I did identify the sexes properly before continuing with the scheduled surgery. See it's easier when they are older. Third, when you have more than one intact male of any species of animal living together, the overall recommendation is to have the males neutered to help reduce testosterone based fighting. This is why I suggested having them both neutered. Lastly I find it annoying that someone like you can come in for a few minutes then run to the internet to leave a negative comment without truly knowing the whole situation. Personally I have worked on animals for over 25 years. I am a good, compassionate, and caring veterinarian, and I don't appreciate anyone taking a cheep shot at me or my hospital like you did. Good luck with your pets. Rebecca Edwards, you forgot to mention the part where you said you were on a limited income. That was when I said maybe you shouldn't own a cat. Remember that cat didn't choose you, you chose her. If you cannot afford proper veterinary care, the pet is the one who ultimately looses. I am sorry if this true statement upset you.

I’m the pregnant women who came to this this establishment for help with kitten that were out inside my bumper by a stray cat, first didn’t realize a kitten carrier is considered a box of kittens second I did come 10 mins before closed and once I was told it’s 10 mins to close I left it at that walked back to my car and realized a 4th kitten was still in my bumper yes I was very emotional realizing that I had yet another kitten in my bumper plus I had both my daughter with me (a 10yr old & 3 yr old) who both were very upset that the kitten was so far in my bumper I could not reach it. All I did was go back inside and ask if they had something that could help me get the kitten out my bumper I did not get angry with anyone until it seemed to me that no one cared at this “animal clinic”. I never saw the doctor until about 10-15 mins later when he came out with his dogs and got in his truck no words until he pulled out and said WE ARE CLOSED AND IF YOU REMAIN ON THE PROPERTY THE COP WILL COME AND YOU WILL BE ARRESTED! I was on FaceTime with my husband and those were his exact words. NOT ONCE DID I SAY I WAS NOT KEEPING THE KITTENS, NOT ONCE WAS I OFFER ANY TYPE OF SERVICES, which I was not upset about because clearly I came 10 mins before closed. What I was upset about was the lack of concern from a veterinarian concerning these kitten which were clearly dehydrated from being in my bumper all day, but they didn’t even see the kitten once because as I stated above they were in the cat carrier! FYI I’ve never owned cats and I foster these babies and still have them :)! Liars never get anywhere! Just admit you had a bad day and move along. I wouldn’t recommend this Veterinarian to anyone who truly loves their pets. I had to just say my peace after realizing his response to my friends review. Mind u I called her in tears after this happened.( emotional pregnant lady)

This Doctor is very knowledgeable. I have been taking my Bearded Dragon here since he was 10 grams!! He gives you options where if you need to adjust the treatment on budget he will let you know home remedies and help any way he can. The staff is very nice and helpful especially when you have your hands full with a dragon, dog and gecko. I live in Deltona and I make the drive to see him because no one else in my area is willing to work with your options and needs. I wish to one day work with him to learn what I need to know to work as a vet as well

I have been going to Dr. Bruce for about 3 years now and each time he has treated my animals extremely well. I have taken my snakes and hedgehogs to Dr. Bruce. He will answer all questions and concerns about the care and treatment of your animal. I also like Dr. Bruce because he is quick to the point, if there is something wrong with your animal he says exactly what is wrong and how to go from there. I have had other vets in the past who will try to get around to telling me the actual problem for fear of how it might upset me which I do not appreciate. I like to know exactly whats wrong and how to go about treating the problem. I highly recommend this vet to anyone, especially if they are looking for a vet for reptiles and exotics. I have had nothing but the best experiences from Dr. Bruce and his amazing staff!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Animal Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Bruce!! My Jack Russell Terrier, Logan, is an older dog and suffers from a few medical conditions. Dr. Bruce has been SO good at taking care of him and I trust him completely with my dog's care. I started taking Logan to him in 2001, when he was only a couple of years old and I had just moved to the area because, at the time, his office was located within 5 minutes of my residence. When I moved out of that area, and began living about 20-25 minutes away from the vet office, I did not search out a veterinarian closer to me, but continued going to Animal Veterinary Hospital because I trust the staff and they always treat Logan with such love and care and are always genuinely happy to see him. I will not take Logan any where else!

Dr. Bruce is an outstanding vet! He has been our vet for over twenty years and during that time he has treated my numerous dogs, cats and the reptiles that I used to own. He always seems to be aware of the latest treatments and regularly attends continuing education seminars. His prices are also extremely competitive compared to other local vets. He treats my animals as if they were his own and some of them actually had/have been his before because Dr. Bruce spays or neuters, provides medical treatment and vaccines and finds homes for stray kittens. In fact, over the years I have adopted seven cats from him. Believe me, I wouldn't keep driving so far out of my way through heavy traffic for over twenty years if I had found a more compassionate, knowledgeable or competent vet.
