We have been very happy with the care our dogs have received at Trumbull Animal Hospital since we moved to the area over a year ago. Dr. Melissa DeFabrizzio is a terrific vet who is skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate. Our dogs are getting older and she has diagnosed some subtle but critical issues which were resolved so we can enjoy our buddies longer. The staff at the hospital are wonderful: all friendly, efficient and genuinely interested in our pets well being. Katelyn, the groomer at Trendy Tails there is a huge plus for us. She grooms the dogs beautifully each month and brings anything of concern to our attention immediately. She also coordinates well with the hospital and the vets. We're delighted with the service at Trumbull Animal Hospital.

This is a very good vet practice. They have late hours on some days, and a nice sized staff. We take our dog and cat there, and everyone from techs to doctors have always been professional and caring. On the few occasions our pets have needed surgical procedures, the doctors called to explain everything, and answer questions. When our last dog died, one of the vets called my wife just to say she was sorry for our loss. This was an unexpected, but greatly appreciated gesture, and it shows what the staff here are all about.

Thank you for always being there to take care of my little Monty he's growing up to be a healthy and happy cat. The staff is wonderful. We just took our puppy to see Dr. Melissa for her first shots. I have to say that was the most amazing experience for us both! All the staff are extremely friendly and Bella enjoyed kissing every single one of them! Dr.Melissa was very informative and gave me tips on how to stop her from nibbling on my hands and to the type of flea/tick collars she recommends. Overall we felt welcomed not rushed and that my Bella was important to them . I'm sure she was loving the rockstar treatment !

My 13 year old Chihuahua went to the Trumbull Animal Hospital for eye surgery. After a few days, she was not doing well, so I brought her in thinking I was going to have to put her down as she was now totally blind and had other diseases. The vet said to do more tests ($$$) because she might just have pancreatitis which is very curable, and she would be fine. I did the tests, and she did have pancreatitis, so my options were take home medicine ($600) or leave her in the hospital to be monitored for 2 days ($1200). I decided because of her age to leave her in the hospital, because I wanted her monitored. At 5 pm the first day I called to check on her, and was told she was doing great. At 6:30 pm the say day, I got a call that said I needed to pick up my dog and bring her to a vet. You could imaging my surprise, as she was already at a vet. They said she took a turn for the worse, and needed to be watched. I then asked them, since I agreed to the $1200 for her to be monitored why I needed to bring her somewhere else to be monitored. They said that no one stays with the dogs overnight, and they could call an emergency clinic and I could bring her there so she could be watched. God only knows what that would cost. I went to pick up my dog, and I wanted to speak to the vet to find out what was going on, as he deterred me from putting her down that morning, and advised that what she had was minor and curable. All that I got was a lot of "I don't know". Every question we asked was followed with the same response. At this point, I was hysterical, and demanded to see my dog. They brought her in half dead, deep breathing like she is just about to die. It is ridiculous that they were suggesting to bring her somewhere else instead of put her down. You go to the vet for advice, not for them to tell you they don't know what is going on with your pet when you trusted them with their life. Within about 10 minutes, she died in our arms. She would not have made it to another vet, and I would think a veterinarian would be able to determine if a dog was minutes from death. Apparently not them. Today, I called to have my other dogs nails trimmed (we have been going here for over 13 years) and I was told the owner has decided that we are no longer welcome at this office. Good riddance. Think twice before taking your animals here, make sure you have a lot of money. Also be aware that if you are leaving them overnight, no one is going to be monitoring or watching them as implied.

I started bringing my dog, Ziggy in February when a heart condition was diagnosed. I didn't think I was getting the best of care at my previous vet. The staff here are WONDERFUL. They're loving and caring and treat your fur family member as if it were their own. So I switched over and now bring my birds and will bring my new dog as well. Dr. Defabrizio has been more than amazing with Ziggy. She's concerned about him and follows up and doesn't rush me if I have questions or concerns. Dr. Chang is new to the group but was very thorough with both of my Cockatiels and again I didn't feel rushed. I also bring them to the groomers here, Trendy Tails, with Katelyn. She's also amazing with my dog. Ziggy had anxiety when he had to go in the car or anywhere but he's always happy to see her. She makes him look even more handsome.

Took our dog Marley in on Friday. She was vomiting everything and dehydrated. Ultimately reaching a point where she was refusing food and drinking water only to vomit a thin brown liquid shortly after. Pros : - Provided necessary care. Didn’t see anything not required on the bill. - Staff was affable. - Vet was knowledgeable. - Facility looked clean on the surface. Cons : - Paid $1250 for blood work, IV, antibiotic, X-ray, ultrasound, and one night stay. - Estimate for care plan was $2400. Required 50% up front to provide any care. This was for an estimated 4 day stay. - On 2nd day (Saturday), picked up Marley. No solid diagnosis after paying $1250. Vet was baffled. - Was referred to VCA Shoreline due to no adequate staff to keep Marley on Sunday. - *** MAJOR CON *** I informed the front desk staff and vet that I would not be immediately going to VCA. That if I did it would be midnight ( I picked Marley up at 12pm ) or potentially the following day. Marley was given to me with a bandaged leg where she was shaven and IV was put in. I assumed this bandage was for protection of the shaved skin and where the IV “had” been. The next morning I am taking Marley for a bath.. under the bandage is the needle in her vein with a tube holding blood and connection for IV!!!! I WAS NOT INFORMED THAT THIS WAS LEFT IN HER LEG!!!! This is a tremendous hazard that opens to infection, endless loss of blood if bitten or torn, pain/discomfort for Marley. I immediately called Trumbull Animal Hospital to request immediate support. They are closed on sundays.. a voicemail is all I could leave. I drove to their facility assuming that staff is on site for admitted pets. Not a single soul in the building. Who is taking care of these animals? Who would have taken care of Marley? Why do you assure me when I first took Marley in that weekend care was available? - Marley began to notice the bandage and tube. This was at 11:30pm Sunday.. I urgently needed care. No call had been returned. - Step in VCA Shoreline. I contacted them and they immediately fixed the wrong that had been done by Trumbull Animal Hospital. They saved her life.. put her first.. saw the urgency of the situation.. and didn’t charge me a dime! Honestly, go to VCA Shoreline and avoid the messenger pigeon. Put your money in the folks that they will most likely refer you to anyway. They are more capable and there 24/7. Overall, I really tried to justify our visit to Trumbull Animal Hospital as being a positive one.. but it just wasn’t. The real only positive is that they contain affable personnel. That’s where my one star does go.

I have a 125lb rottweiler that has some serious stranger fear. She is a big scary dog that barks and snarls at you until she gets to know you and trust you. The staff at Trumbull Animal Hospital are so completely understanding and kind to my baby. My baby got hit by a car and was treated at an emergency facility that sent her records over to Trumbull Animal Hospital - even though they did not treat her they still called me to ask how my baby was doing! The facility is clean and organized and the staff are animal loving and friendly.

Have a dog(BUDDY) and he has developed "cataracts" in both eyes. DR. Wendy Robertson has been treating him with eye drops and Buddy is responding to the medication very well.I do not(as a retired person) have the $3000 for the operation so we are hoping the drops will give Buddy some relief(as it appears to be doing).Anyways;I thank Dr. Robertson for all her expertise in her profession AND let's not forget the "STAFF"---they are all so nice AND friendly---THANK YOU ALL!! If you have German Shepherds, Dr. Ostrover is the vet for you. He knows the breed well (he owns Shepherds as well). He even took a few minutes to play with the dogs and make them feel relaxed. I am saddened to write this poor review, but Trumbull Animal Hospital gave me no choice. We have been a customer since 1977. We have been treating two dogs for skin disorder infections for the past month. One has been on predisone and 2 rounds of antibiotics along with shower medicine. She is getting worst. Called yesterday and she could not be seen till 10:40 today. Arrived with both dogs..was told I was 15 minutes late and only 1 dog had appt.! I told her both dogs had the same problem and it was my understanding they both were to be seen. Every appointment in the past I have been kept waiting. After 20 minutes the desk person came out and informed me the Doctor would not be able to see my dog today. I replied you have got to be kidding. We have been here the past 3 weeks and have spoken over the telephone at least 4 times the past three weeks. I am very concerned that I might lose my dog since her condition is not improving. Not to mention that I have paid hundreds of dollars this past month. I thought we had a great relationship with the Vets of this practice. I think they forgot about customer service along the way and have lost their compassion for my four legged friend. I did call another Vet around the corner who said they would be very happy to see my dog in the next hour. Looks like I will be switching after a very long relationship.

I've first visited Trumbull Animal Hospital in 1976. Since than I have returned at least yearly, through several veterinarians, with many animals. I have never been disappointed,(quite the contrary, all the staff have been delightful.) All my animals have told me so. When it was time for my loved ones to go to heaven, the angles at this hospital were their guides. Gandhi says "you know the quality of a person by the way they treat their animals." Well, these are obviously the highest quality persons. I cannot recommend them highly enough. 3/29 - Again wonderful, compassionate, superior care for my little one. Would not know what to do without them.

I have been going to Trumbull Vet for over 30 years. They care and they respond to the pets needs. I have brought three dogs there, and they never showed any fear. The staff is warm and caring.
