My cats and I recently moved and I was in need of a new veterinarian who was close to our new home. I got the area newspaper that listed the Best of Everything polled establishments. PAW rated excellent in every way and I couldn’t agree more. I was assisted with medical forms, emergency care partners, and an appointment before the due date of the yearly shots and physical were due. I was greeted and more so treated with the most genuine and amazing staff who demonstrated the most professional, sensitive, and caring manner any pet owner would want to receive. Due to the loss of my Cat’s brother, my girl Cookie was not happy about going in the carrier or car, but in the hands of everyone there, she was calm and totally happy with her visit. It made my day to know this was the best choice I made for Cookie. I am so grateful for the care and information I was given upon my first visit as a new patient. BRAVO to everyone at PAW

I have been to this office for the past few years. As a long time pet owner I must say that the treatment is second to none. I called in and the staff was kind and accommodating. The concern for the animals is evident the second you walk in. In addition to the concern and caring, the office is clean and professional. The doctor is compassionate and knowledgable. I highly recommend this practice, you will not be disappointed.

Cannot express how grateful I am for PAW and all of the staff! I have two dogs - a senior Dachshund/Chihuahua and a young pit mix - both of which have had varying medical problems. The staff at PAW is extremely knowledgeable and have helped me navigate treatment for both of my dogs. They respond promptly to all emails and are readily available to help with any questions whenever I call.

Our beloved 12 year old cat Buster had to have dental surgery recently and had two teeth extracted. He has a heart condition so we were very worried about the anesthesia but Dr. Shagensky and his wonderful team carried Buster through without any complications. In fact, Buster was back to his usual happy self very quickly after the procedure. Great vet and great team!

Progressive Animal Wellness is AWESOME! You will not find a vet that will care for your animals better than PAW's. I feel like when I walk in there with my pets that they really care as if they were their own pets. My previous vet, that was not the case. The clinic is clean, modern, and I like how they use current technology in the practice. Trust me, do yourself a favor, go to Progressive Animal Wellness for all your pet's needs. You will not be disappointed, and you will receive a very high level of care.

Both of my dogs were patients here, and I only hope I can find a veterinary practice as good as Progressive Animal Wellness in my new town. Dr. Shagensky and his staff are such pro's, as evidenced by the all-hands-on-deck approach after my dog managed to tear out all of his stitches from a surgery. (He somehow crushed his cone enough to do it). They figured out a way to form a better protective barrier for his wound, found me a muzzle and padded it for Huck's comfort, and checked on his progress carefully. They nursed both dogs (how is this possible) through eye injuries (Huck again, from pawing his face after being skunked and Rosie from running into some wire while chasing chipmunks). The staff is so helpful, fun, and loving. I would recommend them without reservation.

I brought my boxer mix Baya to PAW recently for the first time after our routine vet had no appointments available. Needless to say, after our first visit we will definitely be using PAW from now on! The Vet Tech and Vet that day were so great with Baya especially when she was so anxious. They got baya in quickly, explained everything and even showed me the estimated cost of services before they proceeded - refreshing to go to a vet office like this!

Thank God ! We finally found the one. After moving to the area we finally found a kind, caring, knowledgeable, professional and great communicating veterinary facility. Dr. Shagensky and his staff are outstanding and I would highly recommend them to anyone who cares where they bring their animals for their health needs. We were used to a great vet who has since retired from a Wolcott, Ct. veterinary clinic. This Dr. could walk on water in all aspects of veterinary care. After moving to Avon we tried a high end veterinary practice/hospital in the north end of West Hartford. It just didn't do it for us because it felt like a corporate assembly line that did not communicate well and had a extremely high fee structure to match. Dr. Shagensky and his staff at PAW in Avon deserve a round of applause for restoring my faith that there are professionals out there that really care and their fee structure is reasonable and you won't have to mortgage your house to provide your animals with the highest quality veterinary care.

Where do I begin.....ok here I go....I just had the worst thing possible happen to me when our dog Sydney ran through our (never has failed) electric fence and was struck by a car. She was brought into Progressive Animal Wellness. Dr. Corey Shagensky went straight into his highly skilled ER mode. The animal nurses Jesse and Kathy started working on her immediately, starting IV fluids, and treating her multiple injuries. I stood in awe of the skills of this PAW team, other techs and assistants standing by or helping if they needed anything. Her care was top notch, the level of respect and support that I and my family were given was amazing. Dr Shagensky kept me informed of all his findings during ultrasound and radiology. The nurses kept telling me to just stay at Sydney's head to comfort her, they would take care of the rest. Once stable enough to make the trip, Sydney was transported to Veterinary Specialists, where unfortunately she passed. Thank you so much Dr. Usechak and his team for all you did to try and save her. My heart is broken, but I know Sydney will be forever in my heart. Dr Shagensky and this PAW family is absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Loved the Staff signed bandanna after her procedure. It was such an amazing gesture. It was nice to receive a follow up call after her procedure to check in on how she was doing. The entire staff was super friendly, patient, thorough, knowledgeable, and completely welcoming! This is my first time owning a dog, and Marla is a rescue; and, they knew exactly how to help and work with us both! They were gentle, and truly cared about her wellbeing. Dr. Rio and Jesse (Lead Tech) were amazing! They met Marla at her level to increase comfort (on the floor), providing her with treats, attention, and love which, in effect, provided us with the comfort of their compassion and thoughtfulness. They took the time to explain everything from treatment plan to recommendations for training. Not only do they know "their stuff," but they were also so personable! I definitely trust them to take care of my dog! Incredible staff! Excellent facility (with on-site testing and diagnostics--so helpful). When adopting a rescue with little medical history, they eased all worries and were extremely thorough in their wellness check! I am so happy we made the choice to use PAW as our furry family member's vet!

Even though I only lived in CT for 2 years, my dog required the attention of a vet on several occasions. PAW was always very helpful and knowledgeable. The docs were great as was the rest of the staff. This is also the only vet office I have ever been to that my dog was actually excited to go!!

Best vets office ever. When you walk in instantly the vet techs instantly know you and your dogs name. The first time you go they take an adorable picture of your dog and put it with your file. Dr.Shagensky and his staff are amazing. They check up with you after your appointment to see how your pet is doing and treat your pet as a memeber of their family. I can't say enough good things about them. They are amazing and I will always go to them and recommend them highly.

i have a large breed dog, who is extremely healthy! These so called vets told me to enjoy the years i had with her because she is a big dog and they don't live long, then they recommended a bunch of unneeded surgical procedures to me i.e stomach being stapled, and a cancer biopsy of a node that she has had for years. I left this place really upset and angry at the balls they had to tell me what they told me about my girl. I have been to 3 vets previously and post animal wellness who all were in awe of her genetics and health. They have all told me what a crock and money grab this place was due to the recommendations progressive animal wellness suggested, and laughed about the comment the vet made to enjoy her last few years. The other vets informed me that my dog is overly healthy and will live for a long time. I don't recommend this place at all. No Heart just $$$$
