this was my first experience with this vet. The receptionist and technician / nurse were very kind and answered all my questions.They were efficient, and knowledgeable, and the prices were reasonable. I took my 7 month old kittens for their spay/neuter. My babies are doing well post op...their incisions are clean, and healing well so far...only on day 3...but my kids are almost back to normal already! Would definitely recommend! !

I highly recommend you don’t bring your pets here. I brought my kitten here and she wasn’t feeling well, not only did they run blood test, they told me my kitten wasn’t gonna make it and i needed to hospitalize her. But no diagnosis. Hmm so needless to say i was not doing any of that, so they opted for antibiotics to help, and continue to say I’ll have to put her down later in the week. We agreed on antibiotics but i was not putting my cat down without a fighting chance to live. So 24 hours passed she was better, walking around being an active kitten like normal. So we call to tell the doctor she’s better, never returned my phone call. Thankfully my kitten was 150% back to normal. So i take her to Banfield Pet Hospital in petco for a check up, and they said she was healthy go figures. But they also called the ehac and in thier “doctor notes” said bacteria infection. Not one word of that was mentioned to me at all , for all i knew my cat could have cancer at the time and she was gonna die. They took advantage of me and my cat to try to run a bill on me. And i was not gonna let that happen i hope this review makes your decision to pick a better vet and not to go here. All they seem to care about is putting down animals and if you gon there Facebook page they even have a post about a grieving program for pets, trying to trick people to put their loved ones down to make a buck. I am blessed my cat is healthy and will not ever go back to this business it is absurd and should be shut down.

This was Zeuss' first ever visit to a Vet other than when he received is first vaccination and neutering. It is too soon to warrant a 10, but Zeuss was happy when we came to the clinic and he was happy when we left. Even after jumping off the exam table like the chowder-head he is. With each subsequent visit we expect our score to rise, based on the care and attention we received. We are looking forward to long and rewarding relationship with EHAC.

Don't expect to be treated with respect from Sarah (lady at the front desk.) She'll even laugh at you, too. What kind of service are pets REALLY GETTING when you must leave them there for surgery? We pray for professionalism, but if you spend around $150 for a regular check-up...you automatically are cheap and will be treated as such. Thank goodness for people who TRULLY love their jobs...we need more people with authentic smiles and compassion.

I will always recommend East Hartford Animal Clinic to everyone I know. Anyone with pets understands how expensive it can be to find quality care but EHAC is not only affordable, but every single person on their team is kind and educated. Even at their busiest, I have never felt that the facility was unsanitary and no one let the chaos affect their customer service. The only complaint I have is parking, but they share a small lot, so it's not in their control.

Amazing vet care! Prices are very reasonable compared to a regular vet and the care and patience is better! Although it’s a small clinic, everything is done within an exceptional amount of time. My dog and cats come here and I have never had better attentive care anywhere else for my fur babies! The stress level isn’t high like it would be walking into a vet! Would recommended to anyone who loves their pet! ***if you have the Pet Desk app for them, when you purchase items, annual exams, tests, you earn points which can then be used for “pet rewards” like a free test, up to a free office visit! Worth checking out!

I'm surprised to hear that some people gave bad reviews. I have seen Dr. Barrios at East Hartford Animal Clinic in the past with a previous pet and had an excellent experience. This time I had a sick monitor lizard. I was feeling very guilty that we had been unable to bring him to the vet sooner as our financial situation was bad. They were very accommodating and got us in as soon as were were able. Dr. Barrios did not judge us for not coming sooner, nor did he try to get us to spend money that he did not have. Instead he was very caring and gave us an honest diagnosis and let us know all the things we could do given the diagnosis and the options. I have been to other vets- hell, I even worked for another vet- and I am positive that the same situation would have other vets recommending things that would have cost hundreds of dollars more with the same ultimate outcome. I appreciated his honesty, caring, and the helpfulness of the staff, the prices, and the convenience of their hours. I will give him high marks to anyone who asks and will return again.

This clinic has taken a terrible experience and made it 1000x worst let me start at the beginning. I brought my dog to this clinic because it was the cheapest place to put her down. It was my first time. My dog passed July 20th. I told the vet and the nurse that I wanted her ashes back. She explained to me I had 90 days to pay for the ashes. The next month was my birthday and my brother wanted to bring my ashes home. To his horror the lady told him ashes wasn't there. That I never been there. So ruining the surprise my brother calls me explains what happens and tells me to call. I call and a Sarah picks up. She very rudely explain to me that I never been there and there is no dog. She even hangs up on my face. I call for the 3rd time and I cry to her I know what the clinic looks like even the vet lady that put my dog down. I remember all of them. So finally she listen to me and she starts looking. They had all my info wrong. Finally after locating my file she tells me my dog is still in the vet clinic. So my brother goes back and buys a 400 box to put the ashes in. But that night after all that mix up I thought was my dog really there? They had all my info wrong. I had to make sure. So I go to the vet clinic pleading to see her. Begging and pleading I finally got to see her. 1 week passed and I called to see if the ashes was ready. A man told me we will call you when they are. 2 more weeks pass and nothing. Finally a lady that works there hit me up on my Facebook. Told me that she's been trying to get a hold of me because my dog has been under her desk for a week. So i go get her and come to see when I open the box it's not the right box. I don't know who is to blame here but east Hartford animal clinic needs to step up and admit they messed up big with my dog. I have never been through something so hurtful in my life. I will never bring or recommend that clinic because of all this. People might laugh at me because it was just a dog but she was my best friend my daughter my protector. I will never forget the pain these people put me through. Never again. If i could put no stars i would of. Never again.

Me and my dog Max are new to the East Hartford Animal Clinic but they took us right in. They are very knowledgeable and they took the time to explain what was going on with Max and they gave me several options for treatment. So that I could make an informed decision on how to care for Max. When I called with concerns over the weekend the on call doctor followed up with me with in a half hour. The staff are both human and animal friendly.

The front desk is nice, they'll call the next day asking how is your pet doing. But the vets don't care about you or your pet(s). Each vet I had talked so fast that I had difficulty to understanding what was being said. And, it seems like they only care about hitting you with a high-marked bill.

I've been going here for sometime I've always trusted the doctors and staff but I had a bad life threatening experience with a member of there staff in regards to my pet and the experience was so bad at another vet she worked before here not here but I asked the staff to not have any interaction with this staff member with me or my pets and with no regard to me they chose to loose me as a customer even though I'm on there pet programs shots for life which I've already paid up front on my animals now I have no choice but to find a new vet not one of there management chose to talk to me about this and my concerns neither doctor choose to talk to me about my concerns so to me being there customer and me bringing my pets there meant nothing to them I never once ask for this person to be fired I only asked for them to keep her away from me and my pets but that didn't matter.it hurts so bad because I thought there customers and pets matter to them but I quess I was wrong about them I cant see that my request was unreasonable I felt my safety and my pets safety matter more I will never forgive them for this and I will never ever recommend them to anyone they really let me down in many ways but my pets life matters more They should have at least refunded my money but I quess they didn't feel like they should .very unhappy customer to say the least .lori Russo

The following is testimony from my friend who recently brought his dog here. These people were terrible and cowards who deleted their Facebook account after we left reviews. "We took our pregnant dog here to get an xray done to see how many puppies she had in her stomach. After the x-ray we were told she did not have puppies in there but instead a horrible infection in her uterus. We were advised that this infection needed to be taken care of immediately so she did not die. After 20 to 30 minutes of back and forth questioning and ensuring she was not pregnant we were told there were two options one to cut her open and take care of the infection immediately so does not take her life where to get an ultrasound done which would prolong and allow the infection to grow would be more dangerous if we got the ultrasound done at a different facility because they did not offer an ultrasound. So after saying they were 99.9% sure she was not pregnant and she had this infection we left our dog with them and a half hour later we get a call saying she had three puppies in there. We then were told the puppies were probably decaying and dead inside of her which was causing the white blood cell count to be high. We were encouraged to remove uterus anyways and get rid of the puppies inside of her. I said absolutely not sew her back up. After already having to pay $400 up front they wanted to charge us another $150 which I did not pay. So we took our dog and went to an emergency veterinary clinic right after we left there where we had an ultrasound done and they saw 3 healthy babies in there with heart beats that were 47 days old. If you love your animal do not go here especially seeing how the doctor and the surgeon tried putting the blame on me after all of this happened."-Tim Terwilliger

I can't Thank You guys enough for saving my baby's life my Shih-Tzu CC ! Thank You Dr. Barrios for saving CC's life! I took CC in for emergency surgery On Wednesday because she had Pyometra and was given a few days or less to live! Dr.Basine over at VCA Boston RD Animal Hospital in Springfield,MA. Recommended Dr.Barrios because she did not want me to drive all the way to VA for this surgery . Worried that CC might not make the drive. I took CC in to East Hartford Animal Clinic and picked her up at 4 pm and the very next day she was back eating and walking around and yes lots of rest and she was not able to eat or walk much before the surgery . I can't believe it in time for the Holidays we have our baby here with us because of you Dr.Barrios and because of the low cost to perform this life threatening surgery. Thank You so much we love you Dr.Barrios and we love you East Hartford Animal Clinic for all that you have done and do !!!! For making it possible for to afford this surgery... I'm surprised at all the negative reviews here because we've had nothing but good experiences here. Then again we've never had to bring our cat in for any emergencies. Whatever care we give her has always been appreciated by the staff. They've always given Pepper good treatment and took the incentive to recommend sedation when she gets her annual checkup as she can be very feisty and took the time to answer any questions we had as well as followup in a timely fashion. Unlike the previous clinic in East Hartford we used, they never used any kind of scare tactics to make us approve treatments that might not be needed. If anything, the office could use more people working the front desk as they always seemed to be overwhelmed when we're there.

When it comes to being knowledgeable about veterinary medicine, Dr Barrios KNOWS HIS STUFF! Kelly, the Hospital Manager keeps the wheels greased and the clinic running smoothly. Then when it comes to making your pets feel comfortable and at ease during their time at EHAC, Precious is just oh so precious. The only downside to the clinic is that they got a little house cat who lives there named Marmalade. Marmalade can be a bit on the moody and temperamental side. So, if she's having a bad day, you just need to stay outa her lane!

I was referred by a neighbor to this vet when my dog got sick to his stomach. I was charged $50 for an office visit PLUS $200 for 3 shots of I don't know what and some pills to take home too! Then my dog started limping so I had no choice but to bring him back. Upon Dr Barrio checking my dogs leg he wanted the dog to lay down. Extremely hard since his leg was injured and he was having trouble lowering his body weight. Dr Barrio grabbed my dogs far legs and pulled them out from under him and my dog landed with a THUD on his other hind leg. I was so panicked when it happened it was all I could do to grab and catch my dogs head from hitting the ground! I was infuriated and now my dog is limping on both legs! I should have punched that man in the face! AND I had to pay the office visit! For him injuring my dog further?!! I will NEVER go back there!!!

Being a rabbit mom, it’s hard to know what vet’s you can trust. I’ve been to several around CT, even ones that were rated high, and had bad experiences. One of those being Kensington. So far, Bolton has been one of my favorite vets. They seem to use the latest technology and were very patient and knowledgeable. After some bad experiences elsewhere, I feel I can trust Bolton with my bunnies’ care.

They are all friendly and compassionate and find a way to make room especially when your animal is sick. I highly recommend them to everyone!!!! Our 8 year old ferret had a real bad growth on the back of her neck which was constantly bleeding in losing. He recommended surgery and told us that there was a 50-50 chance only because she was so old. Unfortunately she passed after the surgery and the staff was very compassionate offered us free cremation and when we decided to bury her in our own backyard they didn't charge us for anything up to and after the surgery. Our little Shih Tzu had a couple of bad molars and other vets had told us it would be 1500 to $2,000 to remove them. Dr. Barrios and his staff not only remove the bad molars but any other teeth that were in bad shape and never charged over the amount that was quoted. For the same price that was quoted at other vets for this particular surgery we were able to get two ferrets two cats and the dog all their physicals their yearly shots and the surgery for the same price if not less. I can't believe some of the reviews I'm reading here after all the good experiences I have had with this vet.

We have a neighborhood cat that was abandoned some time ago that we have been trying to take care of. When we were finally able to get her to trust us enough and let us take care of her, we brought her to East Hartford Animal Clinic (who made a very last minute appt for us!) and they took great care of her. We were able to get her vaccinated, have really terrible mats removed from her fur (which Robbie did on a whim without an appointment and did such a great job!), and get her flea and tick medication covered. Gimli still has a long way to go before she's in tip top shape, but you can tell how grateful she is for all of the care she received! She even hung out in the house with us for the whole evening last night! Thank you guys!

Although they care deeply for your pets I still have a complaint. They need to update the online scheduling!! I scheduled 3 cats for fixing and got 2 confirmations email back. But they were for the day before I was asking for AND when i did get there I was told my cats were not schedule. They need to fix their calendar so when a day is not available that it is blocked out and also be done by a person NOT a computer. I have dealt with other clinic in their past and they either block the date or the scheduling is done by a person. I will still use this clinic but right now I am giving them a 1 star

Dr. Barrios is a gentleman with great heart. His staff is extremely kind and professional. I cannot give enough stars and compliments to this fine veterinary office. Very easy to find. . Our visit was fraught with heart wrenching emotion for our beloved cat. The staff were all just as kind as could be. Dr. Barrios was so kind and a great comfort to us. We found him to be just excellent. Now that we know him, we can sing praises about him to all we meet.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO HERE!!!! wish i put another pet hospital im to my gps. Maybe shed still be here. I brought in my poor kitty while she was dying. I ran in, no shirt or shoes. My poor baby limp in my arms. I was hysterical and when i said help please over and over the lady at the desk continued to run credit card numbers and wouldnt even turn around as my poor cat died in my arms. How could you not care? Not even enough to turn around and see whats going on. I've never met evil like that. I will never step foot near that GHETTO CARELESS disaster of a place ever again in my life. THAT LADY SHOULD LOSE HER JOB!!!

This place is amazing!! The staff make you feel comfortable and answer any and all questions you have about your pet. We had to bring our cat in this morning because she hasn’t been feeling good for the last 3 days, I called and they were able to see her the same day which was amazing! Honestly I called and was able to get in 45 minutes later which was amazing. Clyde had a bout of diarrhea and the doctor and tech did absolutely everything to put me at ease and rule out any potential diseases which I was really worried about as I work with shelter dogs and while I take precautions I still worry about bringing things home. I was so worried about my baby dog because he means the world to me and the patience and care they had with him was great. He's really shy with strangers and I don't know anything about his background and the girls were so gentle and slow with him and it meant a lot to me. I've brought my cats here in the past for routine care and my elderly cat had a surgery and a few dentals. I live about 35 miles away from the clinic but it is absolutely worth the drive and I wouldn't trust any other vets with my beloved pets. To see these poor comments from people is so upsetting. To say this clinic is expensive or has over charged you for something that was clearly and substantially less then most clinics is crazy. They are one of the only clinics that have very reasonable fees for their services and are always willing to set you up a payment plan. They also go above and beyond to help their customers pets because they know their not just a pet but a family member. I've brought my young male cockatiel Louie a couple times and both times they were extremely helpful and put my mind at ease. Louie gets stressed and anxious very easily so handling him is not the easiest thing which that was the one thing I was very worried about and the vet was so gentle that my bird actually looked relaxed. The first time I called to make an appt for Louie I was worried I wouldn't be able to get in right away because typically at majority of non emergency animal clinics if your not already a patient there your first appt wouldn't be for two or more weeks but at this clinic I was able to get an appt right away which was amazing to me. Louie had a respiratory infection and the doctor gave me antibiotics. He went above and beyond for me by mixing the pills into a liquid form so Louie and his sister Luca could get their antibiotics thru their drinking water and seeing that Louie still wasn't comfortable being handled that was the easiest way. For him to even think about the sister Luca saying that he was worried she could get sick and gave me enough meds for both birds really showed he cares about the animals. They also called me before his follow up appt just to check up on Louie to see how he's feeling and they did that after every appt I had for him. For them to actually take the time and call you just to see how things are doing was a big plus for me. I've never had any of my past veterinarians take the time to do that or to ask one of the assistants to do that. Basically I'm saying that this is my favorite animal clinic and many of my friends favorite. They make me feel welcome and at ease. I know I'll never switch to another clinic and I know that the next visit Ill need for my dog will be with them. I drive over 30min just to get there and I have two different vets that are less then 5 min from my house that have had good reviews and I still won't switch. Thank You East Hartford Animal Clinic for doing your best and being your best keep it up!!!

I give Dr. Barrios 5 stars . However, the 2 women at front desk are EXTREMELY rude!! The girl with very short hair actually hangs up the phone on customers intentionally if she doesn't like what you have to say!!! I asked her why she was being so rude to me for no reason and she hung up! This is the 3rd time I had a horrible experience with her, she is NO empathy for people for animals! This is the 3rd time this has happened! HORRIBLE customer service, such a shame because Dr. Barrios is amazing and loses good customers due to that pair at front desk.
