I asked the doc for eye drops: a saline solution without anti-biotics or petroleum jelly, which was stuff contained in all the meds I had been given by every other vet. I was pretty fatigued and not the most articulate at the time, but I was able to convey in a round-about way that I wanted non-medicated drops. Dougall looked a bit flustered at my requirements as I asked for eye drops and then finally told me to use Dexamethazone. As it turns out, those eye drops have steroids and are supposed to be prescription only. They sold it to me for $60 under false pretenses after being told specifically what I wanted and I bet that when I go in today, they won't refund it. It doesn't even matter if I get my money back, this place still gets one star. I put steroids in my kittens eye because the docs here are more interested in pushing expensive meds than actually helping!

Very professional and efficient. A little expensive, but I mean it is an eye specialist for animals. I don't think you'll have an easy time finding one cheaper! Before moving up here I took our cats to the vet for their shots/check up and my vet didn't notice one was blind. The Eye Specialists for Animals did. We were reffered here after my new vet wasn't able to determine a cause of my cat's vision problems, wanted us to go to a specialist for more testing.

The staff here is excellent! Overall they run on time, and when you arrive they take you to an exam room even to fill out papers, so you don't have to hold your dog still every time the front door opens. The doctors and staff explain things in person very well, but they also provide you with detailed information sheets about everything they did and/or recommend. My dog needed cataract surgery on both eyes. They gave me all the information about the surgery, the risks, and the post-op things I have to do for the dog, and even the estimated percentage for my dog regaining full vision. My dog had some higher risks of complications because of his poodle breed and being a puppy/juvenile. But the estimated success was still 85% They talked to me about what to expect long-term if we were unable to do the surgery for any reason. They understand that many people can't afford an expensive surgery, so they give you any alternative options possible. They are very honest and upfront about the prices for everything! Even when we scheduled the first appointment for evaluation, They told us exactly what the exam cost was. For the surgery estimate they include absolutely everything normally needed, and they even show you estimated total cost from the first exam for evaluation to the last following appointment. That was really helpful to understand be absolute total cost, from start to finish. And they Tell you about the possible cost of the most common complications. I was lucky to have pet insurance that would cover the cataract surgery. Dr Best performed the operation yesterday, June 27th 2019. For the next month there are a lot of eye drops to give at home, and 4 follow up appointments. So far the staff and doctors have been excellent and we've had no major problems.

My cat had a condition called entropion which means that her lower eyelid rolled inwards, causing her eyelashes to constantly rub on her eye. Dr. Best and her team were kind to both my cat, and me (my cat can be difficult to handle, but they were gentle with her and great about keeping her stress down). I was provided with an estimate for surgery at the initial appointment, which was very fair. The surgery went well, and I was provided with detailed discharge instructions that recapped the procedure that was performed, what to expect after the anesthesia, and how to care for my cat over the next couple of weeks. I highly recommend scheduling an appointment if your pet needs care for their eyes. The entire team is knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate.

So, I waited a VERY long time and thought VERY carefully before posting this review. Here's the thing, the staff and doctors at Eye Specialists for animals are wonderful people, with great attitudes and work very hard to fit people into their busy schedule. While my brother Oscar was waiting there we saw the receptionists tell 2 other patients to come right in even though they were already taking Oscar as an emergency. Having said that, the bottom line for us is Oscar was misdiagnosed (or, more correctly PARTIALLY misdiagnosed) and lost his eye as a result of the missed diagnoses. This is unforgivable to us no matter how kind, caring and accommodating the staff is. Now Oscar's world is very small and he no longer plays or goes outside or does anything fun because the loss of his eye has affected him TERRIBLY. And we simply cannot forgive the office for misdiagnosing his "corneal kiss" for a cataract. If the lens had been surgically pulled from his eye quickly, he would likely still have the eye and at least some of his vision on that side according to the eye specialist we took him to later to have the eye removed.
