You will be able to see the opinions of real people like you who consumed the services of Colorado Veterinary Specialists & Animal ER (Veterinarian) in the area close to Colorado.
Right now the firm has a rating of 4.5 stars over 5 and this score was based on 226 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is almost the best one, and it's based on a very high number of opinions, so we can think that the valuation is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are happy with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to set tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian is classified in the category of Medical Center.
Wanted us to hospitalize our dog immediately. Jumped straight to scaring us with every possible thing that could be wrong with her.
The care and attention they show not only to the animals but also the owners is top notch. I've had to visit this location twice and I will continue to come here. Outstanding service, detailed and they treat the animals as if they were their own. Kudos to everyone!
Worst experience of my life! After working all day & then going to a rough dialysis treatment I came home to find all 3 of my pups with red eyes & itching their ears. Loki was by far the worst off as his eye was very swollen. I asked my daughter to drive me over with Loki as I had just taken some pain meds & didn't think I could safely drive myself. I was clearly a little out of it but was still able to communicate what was going on. As I sat in the waiting area with Loki, the doctors & vet techs laughed & joked about me being out of it. I tried to explain that I was a dialysis patient but that didn't play into their obvious critism. All I wanted was to make sure my pups were ok & instead I was ridiculed. After they had finished laughing outside the door, a doctor came in & provided drops & pain pills for Loki. I asked to use their phone to call my daughter to come back & she had taken my husband back home to check on our other two pups. Initially I could not get a hold of her so I asked to have an Uber but wasn't sure if they would be ok with taking me & a dog. One of the techs literally yelled from the back have her cal an F-ing taxi is she that stupid that she can't call 333-3333. Luckily I was able to get a hold of my daughter & as I waited for her to arrive I was treated to another 30 minutes of insults. This was the worst experience of my life & I will definitely be telling my vet about my experience & not to recommend this place to anyone!
They really are an amazing animal ER. Staff is friendly and thoroughly explained everything, wait times were reasonable, the cost was reasonable (actually less than we were originally quoted), and most importantly our dog is on the mend. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great vet.
Have been going here for years! Staff and Veterinary services are professional and prompt! I have used both reproduction services and after hour veterinary services.
Had to take our little dog , Rebound to CVSG because he ate red grapes last night. Everything was great as usual until it came time to leave Rebound overnight for observation. The contract said if my estimate is between $1200-$1400 then a $1200 deposit is required. I had $1104 on my CareCredit card and asked the tech if that would be ok for tonight and then I will find the additional amount tomorrow and I was told yes , they would not make an issue over $96 dollars. At the front desk , Alesha was rude and unprofessional and told me at first that I had to pay the high end of the estimate. When I told her the contract I signed said I had to pay a deposit of $1200. Alesha said that is not the case and I'm confused.i said I'm not confused and I'm reading your contact. This continued until I asked for a supervisor and Alesha laughed at me. I then asked for someone above her that had decision making ability and she became furious and told me she is the receptionist and she is in charge. I asked he to call a supervisor and Alesha said she wasn't going to call for something like this. Alesha went to the back where the doctors were and belittled me by saying I'm confused and not listening to her. A vet tech came out and started to say something similar to what Alesha said and I showed her what their contact read and showed it to her.and read it out loud to her. She said yeah it's confusing but and then started to walk towards the back when Alesha walked to the front of the customer counted and said , "You come here and be quiet and listen to me". I told her I don't know who in the hell you think you are but you will not talk to me that way. The doctor came out that seen Rebound and I explained to her what Alesha had said and that Im college educated with a degree and I'm not confused. The contract says this but she wants a full payment for the full amount ( said 1 time ) or the lower end (said 2 times ). The $96 dollars was not discussed because Alesha wanted different amounts. The doctor then changed the estimate of the contract from 2 days to day to day so no deposit was required. Once this was done , Alesha became even more furious , stomped by me nearly missing contact with my shoulder and continued to the back area. Its one thing to be unprofessional , but to call someone confused not once but twice and then tell them to take their pet to another provider then to top it off , try to talk to me like a child and or a dog , "Come over here and be quiet and listen to me". Alesha needs classes on how to be professional and conflict resolution. This is not the type of person a business wants meeting and dealing with people in sensitive and delicate situations. If it wasn't for prior experience with CVSG , I would have taken Rebound to another place. If you have to go to CVSG , which I fully recommend , try to avoid after hours or just be prepared to deal with Alesha the receptionist.
Didn’t listen to anything said, talked over me & MISSED my cat’s ear drum bursting. Will never return & will pass along this TERRIBLE vet care to everyone I know. Don’t go here if you have a cat!!!
The staff at the Animal ER has always taken good care of my animals and me. I've used them for emergency services and end-of-life care my dogs over the past 20 years. Today they helped me say goodbye to a very dear friend. I couldn't have asked for a better sad experience. Thank you Sam, Dee and Dr. Earhart!
Ellie started what I thought was seizing and there were no doctors on call at my normal vet office do they told me to run her over to CSG. When I got there they immediately took Ellie to the back and talked to me to understand what exactly happened. Given this was her first seizure they suggested I keep her overnight and explained exactly what they were looking for. I talked to them two times that night and they called at 6:15 in the morning as promised to give me an update. The good news was there wasn’t another episode so I took her home that night. Professional, kind, informative, and empathetic are a few adjectives to describe my experience with everyone on the staff not just the doctors. Great experience even though it was a scary one.
The entire staff is superb. They acted immediately to save our beloved golden retriever. We would absolutely recommend CVSG for your pet. They are the Allstate of Veterinarians....you are in the very best hands!
Everyone was very nice to me and my belly girl at a bad time for both of us. I'm hoping the rest of our visits go as well.
I couldn't get our dog an appointment anywhere. So off we went to here. They were fast, friendly and effective. I was actually shocked at how quickly they got Scruffy treated!
Great friendly and quality service for our pug puppy!
Our dog was seriously sick and they saw her right away and took very good care of her would highly recommend this vet
They were pretty fast considering how packed they were, did a really good job stitching up our girl, & over estimated the price & gave us a refund. It was a good experience given the circumstances.
My dog had a miscarriage and I brought her afterhours in to be sure there was nothing left and check for infection. TWO HOURS LATER— Dr. Carolina Orellana did nothing more than take an X-ray and look at it. She then essentially accused me of my dog never being pregnant (despite me having felt babies moving and video and confirmed X-ray at another vet AND she was bleeding still). Then she proceeds to push me to get her fixed with zero additional testing or evaluations as to what even caused the miscarriage. It could have been as simple as a blood test for progesterone levels. She made me SIGN A RELEASE because I was going against HER RECOMMENDATION to undergo surgery to have her fixed and spend more unneeded money, not to mention the guilt trip and condescending tone!!! After reading her biography later and her history of working at Dog shelters- it was clear to me she was merely pushing her own agenda into me and my dog and Dr. Carolina Orellana is AGAINST breeding. This place advertises that they specialize in reproductive care, reputable breeders beware of Dr. Carolina Orellana when coming here, she’ll try to sterilize your animal. Update: my AKC Champion girl as gone on to have a successful litter with ZERO complications. Glad I listened to my gut and own experience in breeding and DIDNT follow Dr. Carolina Orellana‘s recommendations. I still paid hundreds for an X-ray, waste of 2 hrs of my time and bad advice by a vet with her own agenda!
Performed a left leg amputation on my fur baby after she got hit by a car. They are open 24/7 which makes life easy for us humans.... a lot of facilities are open certain days and times and it makes it very inconvient to have to transfer. They are very caring, compassionate and know what they are doing. Dr. Lewis did an amazing job! I definitely recommend her and the facility!
These guys are awesome. They performed emergency surgery on our kitty. Drs. Lewis and Hahn and all the staff was awesome!
A good vet but costly compared to my other vet.
This emergency clinic was a savior during a snowy Sunday when our pup decided to cut his paw. The vet was very prompt and very thorough and I felt totally comfortable the whole time we were there. this isn't our typical vet but if anything changes with that this is one of the first places I will think of.
Brought my yorkie poo here based in my vets recommendation. My yorkie was hit by a car and there was no obvious trauma other than a broken tooth. They kept her over night to.observe her and did not do extra diagnostics studies because she remained stable. I appreciate that they did not run up the bill when they could have.
In early July our dog Lola tore her ACL and needed surgery. I was absolutely besides myself and was really overwhelmed considering all of the places recommended to me were scheduling months out and some were quoting me $5000-$6000. I started doing my own research, found Colorado Veterinary Specialists and called to schedule. They were able to get her in for a consult within a few days, could then get her in for surgery the day after the consult and quoted me $3500-$4500. When we met with Darren Imhoff I immediately liked his calm demeanor. He explained the entire process very thoroughly and then sat patiently through me asking my list of 10+ questions while answering them with detail. Once Lola was home and recovering I found myself with so many more questions. I emailed him almost once a day for the first week and he responded so quickly. Overall, he made a horrible experience so much better and Lola is now fully recovered and back to her crazy self. I would HIGHLY recommend Colorado Veterinary Specialists and Darren Imhoff if your dog needs surgery. Thank you so much!
Such quick, efficient care was taken of my dog when I brought him in last week in the evening. The staff (all of them) were caring, kind and knowledgable. I never doubted my sweet pup was in the best hands.
Having a sick pet is never easy especially in the middle of the night. The doctors and staff here are patient even when tempers run short, and are caring about you and your pet. Never once that I feel pressured into a diagnostic or treatment that was not warranted.
Had a good experience all things considered and found the staff to be very friendly and thorough! What I also liked about them is when I called to check on my pet they asked me if it was an emergency before putting me on hold for a brief time.
Good experience, wait time was long and I had to wait in a small patient room with my 5 month old puppy for more than 1 hour. Overall got what we needed to get done. Vet was nice and took her time going over the xrays.
For dog reproduction assistance, Milan Hess is the best.
The doctors and techs here are caring and capable.
We love the folks at Colorado Veterinary Specialists. They are always excited to see our pups and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable in all aspects of Veterinary Care.
CVSG was amazing. They took my dog in for surgery very late on a Friday night for foreign body removal. They let me (and even encouraged me) to go in and see him throughout the next day and a private room was provided. They kept him a second night and while surgery and recovery costs are expensive no matter where you go, the price was very reasonable. The surgery was easier than expected and we ended up with a small refund of our deposit. The vets and their staff were very friendly and compassionate. During the visits with my dog, I could hear them speaking kindly to the other animals in the back room and each other. It was a very positive experience all things considered.
Have been in twice for dog eating bad stuff. Nice staff, good service. Seems like there might be some variation in the quality of doctor who attends to your pet, but there seems to be a collaborative environment amongst staff. It's quite pricey.
They were so kind, skilled, knowledgeable and at the ready during off hours on the weekend. My dog's face had swollen and her eyes were almost completely shut. We had no idea what was causing it. They said it was an allergic reaction and most likely an insect bite or sting. They gave her a steroid and antibiotics intravenously and more to take home so her airway wouldnt become obstructed. They called the next day to check on her progress. They were kind, calm and easy going and that helped me to stop worrying. I knew Sadie was in good hands!
The staff were very caring and thorough when we took our dog in there when he had a very puzzling issue. Loved everyone there. They also wanted us to come in for a follow up to see that the issue was resolved. They gave our little guy lots of love!
My family has taken our pets to this location three times now. The doctors and nurses are so caring and knowledgeable. They know how to comfort not only the animals but also children who come exhausted in the middle of the night and worried about their pet. The staff at Animal ER was able to accurately identify what the problem was with each incident and prescribe treatment to bring our babies back to 100% health. In one case, our primary vet, who knew our dwarf rabbit better, gave the wrong diagnosis. Animal ER saved our bunny's life with the correct diagnosis and effective treatment for seizures caused by a parasite. Thank-you, Animal ER for excellent service and caring. Two paws up!!!
Everyone was kind, thorough and informative. Our cat stayed for a small surgery on an abscess on his face. They did a wonderful job with him and the cost was very reasonable. We highly recommend them. They were amazing!
Everyone there is knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. They welcome questions and want you to understand what is going to happen with my dog.
One of the worst experiences ever... we took our cat there after a scratch on his paw became infected and was extremely swollen. We waited almost an hour before the technician came and took our cat into the back. The vet was able to clean the infection but then tried to make us buy almost $500 of different medications. We decided to just go with the pain meds and cone that would hold him over for the night. The technician made it seem like it was a life or death situation that the cone stay on his neck for the night. The cone is so cheaply made and wouldn't fit around our cats neck because any time we put it on he could just pull it off with his paw. After an hour of us struggling at 1 am we finally gave up. The next day when we took him to the vet she said it was probably best he didn't wear the cone and none of the medicines were necessary. Extremely frustrating to be so ripped off and frustrating at the lack of help they provided.
Saved the day for our poor pup. Sundays and Holidays, that's when something happens. After hours for regular vets. He's doing way better. Now, we check under the car if we do anything with it. I took my foot off the brake and he yipped. Luckily only a bruise, but they took x rays twice to ensure nothing was missed and the vet called twice to double check on him.. Me, still drowning in guilt. Thank God, he wasn't hurt badly.
The staff is professional and very knowledgeable. They saved my dog, and did it with care.
With the exception of the receptionist (maybe it was bad day for her) the day we were there, everyone was great to work with. They really care about treating your pet the best that they can.
The doctor and staff was very thoughtful and caring. They were knowledgeable and took their time in taking care our puppy.
Caring, dedicated and responsive staff. Fair pricing
Dr. Orellana (ER), all the techs, and overnight doctor took amazing care of our Boxer, Bennet, this week. Dr. Orellana was very thorough in her exam and treatment, and she made sure we understood all of our options and the prices before moving forward with anything. You can tell these people love animals! I’ve already recommended them to some of my friends because we were so impressed with their care and expertise. Thank you for helping our sweet boy and getting him home before Christmas!
Dr. Beth Lewis provided excellent care for our lab during the TPLO surgery for the dog’s cranial cruciate ligament rupture. This is the surgery of choice for knee repair. Though our pet is only in the first month of a three month recovery, she is progressing well and walking on all fours.
Dr. Hess is great and has helped me with my Frieden many times over the last 4 years. I do have to admit that the prices are very high, so it is my last resort, but when I need her expertise, it's worth it.
Top notch care in vet and specialty vet care. Also, they are open 24 hours. I went there for an ultrasound of my Pomeranian. Everyone was professional and pleasant. Especially liked Dr. Hess who worked on my girl.
My dog had a complication during labor and i showed up unannounced and they did an awesome job bringing the remaining two puppies into this world alive and kicking following a 12 hr labor process. On follow up questions they where always quick about answering the phone and giving correct information. If i could make them a primary vet physician i totally would harass the hell out of them :-). Awesome staff caring people and always knowing there stuff. Highly recommended.
We used this clinic for their veterinary reproduction services several times and each time the service was very professional and the staff were kind and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!
Great staff and quick friendly service!
Our primary vet— Greenwood Village Vet—recommended CVSG when we found out Buddy’s spleen had burst. They told us he needed an emergency splenectomy and that they were well equipped to handle the surgery and had excellent staff. Because Buddy is 15 years old, we were worried about how he’d handle the anesthesia and the invasive surgery itself. The staff was AMAZING and kept us informed pre (10pm) & post-surgery (6am & 10am) and said Buddy was strong and so sweet... Talk about relief! We were so so impressed by the caliber of education, kindness, thoroughness and accountability of their staff that it was hard to believe we’d been so lucky to had found them! We treat all 3 of our dogs like our golden children, and would not have trusted just any ER to take care of our little Buddy’s life at such a critical time. THANK YOU to Doctors Beth Lewis, Carolina Rosell, Margaret Wigley and Steven McIntyre. Thank you to Kerry Russell and all of the vet techs that helped our baby and offered a loving touch while keeping a sense of urgency... Y’all SAVED Buddy’s life!!!! We’ll be FOREVER grateful for your flawless work ❤️, because of you Buddy will enjoy his spoiled life longer with us! Love, Paula & Dustin James
My pup had eaten some grapes and they quickly heled him and made sure he would be okay and gave me several continued treatment options for him afterwards. Very pleased with the whole hospital.
I came here after my puppy lunged out the window while driving. My puppy was fine! But I really like how the people here treated us all. I had brought my other baby who is 9 and not doing great and helped me understand his condition better in a short brief conversation before leaving. Which made me feel so much better and I appericate it alot! Thank you for calling to check up on my puppy! The phone calls and following up means alot to me!
Very caring and understanding of individual needs
My husband took our dog here after he swallowed a stuffed animal. The vet who saw him was nice (hence the 2 stars) but they gave our dog some medicine to see if he could throw it up and all the medical assistants/techs were standing around laughing at him. I know he is a dog and doesn't know, but still very unprofessional and gives off a lack of caring. Maybe try comforting the animal. Will not go back here again.
The doctors have great bedside manners. I trust and appreciate the great care given to two of my St. Bernard's during different late night visits. This is my go to place for after hour emergency care.
I have taken my cats here in the past with great service. Most recently I brought in my 80lb Pyrenese. We were seen right away. The staff was friendly, helpful, understanding, and professional. They explained everything to me. I was given more information than her regular vet had. I really appreciated them being there.
This is one of the best 24 hour vets I have been to in Denver. They got us right in and were so sweet to my dog. They are just a little expensive but definitely not worse then other 24 hour emergency vets. I loved all the doctors I worked with and will make this my go to emergency vet.
Very helpful and sweet women working there.
Excellent care by the entire team, I am grateful for the care they have provided to my animals !
Wonderful place, very friendly and helpful staff. They took great care of my puppy.
Thank you so much for the care provided to LINUS he is feeling great now! Dr. Carolina Orellana was wonderful.
Fast, friendly, and fees were appropriate for an emergency visit! Would definitely recommend.
I just moved to Colorado two years ago and After my kitty passed away last week I wasn't sure where to go. My friend called Colorado veterinary specialist around 9pm and we were able to take her in. It was a sad day but they were there for me with kindness. It cost me about 32$ for cremation and$20 for a clay imprint of her paws and name which I was able to pick up today and it's beautiful. I couldn't have asked for a better experience during this time. Thank you all so much.
Nice .great job. Thank you so much
The level of caring and expertise at CVS is second to none. Having been to multiple vets and specialists in the south metro area, I can assure you the these doctors and support staff put your animal first. My lab retriever is young and has severe vestibular disease and an autoimmune disorder. Dr. Laura Russell, DVM (emergency medicine) actively listened to me and genuinely showed compassion and respect to my dog. Her thorough examination and straight forward approach to my animal's care was excellent. Dr. Beth Lewis, DVM (surgery) was extremely compassionate and knowledgeable. I have the utmost confidence in these doctors. Here's what you need to know: these doctors spend time with you, clearly love what they do and love animals first and foremost. These doctors care more about quality vet services than money. Their fees for services are not inflated... How often can we pet owners say that about specialized veterinary care?
We took in our 10 week old GSD when he refused to get up and cried in pain from being touched. The entire staff was just simply amazing with him. They got him diagnosed and feeling like his puppy self very quickly. Also they are researching more into his diagnosis so that we feel confident in his treatment. They took the time to answer my very long list of questions without ever making me feel rushed. I honestly can’t praise them enough. They are all so wonderful.
We had our 14 year old staffordshire bull terrier named Denver, age 14, get into the trash and had complications with a possible blockage and some other concerns, that the staff handled very well. Open to our concerns, provided us with the options including the cost up front and nothing hidden involving the diagnosis and the several possible treatment options available to us, and up front with the various costs. Which my daughter and I discussed. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and forthright and supportive in our decision. Highly recommend them.
The staff here are amazing!! They always make me feel like they truly care about my Dog. The prices are fair and honest. Love this place!
Great vet for dog reproduction.
My cat Star B was very ill, and we took her in to CVSG! In my opinion they saved her life! If not for their prompt and thorough care, I'm not sure if she would have made it! Dr. Russell was amazing, and took the time to explain everything they were doing and what needed to be done! Star B is now home and on the road to recovery! Thank you, to everyone at CVSG for the wonderful care you gave my Star B!
Listened thoughtfully about my cat's issues. Examined thoroughly. Offered 2 options of treatment. Friendly people. Wish bill wasn't so high, but I guess that's just how emergency treatment is.
Absolutely amazing! Brought our pooch in and were terrified he wasn't going to survive through the night. Turns out he has congenital kidney disease (he's only 3). They kept him 3 nights to monitor him and get him back to his normal self. We were really hoping it was an acute case so it definitely wasn't the news we wanted to hear. Every single Dr. and staff member was extremely caring, helpful and great with all the animals. They called every morning as promised with updates and explained everything they could see before referring us to an internist. Have to keep a close eye on him but now we know what to look for and what to feed him. A+++++
Dr. Laura Russell is a kind, caring, warm-hearted person at CVSG. I unfortunately had to lay to rest my 16 year old cat and she was very empathetic and caring during the process. She gave us the necessary time to say our good-byes (privately) and explained everything that would be done. She is definitely in the right field - can't think of anyone better that I would want to go to! Thank you, Dr. Russell.
I took my best friend, Benjamin, in late Friday night because he was acting strangely - as though he was hallucinating, trembling and wanting to be in my lap (he's a Shiba Inu...not a lap dog no matter how hard I try). It was terrifying! I called first and found them very helpful. They told me what symptoms indicated that I should bring Ben in right away. So...When we arrived a couple hours later, they were INCREDIBLY kind - Ben was very upset and becoming combative - and just as thorough. Having taken my pets to other veterinary ERs, I thought CO Veterinary Specialists & Animal ER's prices were incredible! Benjamin's resting comfortably and I'm glad to have found these folks. I would have given 5/5, but the facility could have been a lot cleaner.
Our little pup Lola was barfing a lot and had very runny stools. Fearing that she may have eaten something bad, we rushed her to CO Vet Specialists. They were so kind and accomidating; the dr explained every procedure as well as the cost for each. Vet ER's can be outragiously expensive (VCCR comes to mind) and I'm on a limited budget so it was very helpful to know what I was getting into. The end bill was fair and affordable; unlike some ER Vets (VCCR comes to mind again). They found nothing that Lola could have swallowed so they send us home with some meds and directions. The next day, Lola was back to her old self! The Vet office even called to see how she was doing! Thank you to all the staff for being so compassionate and communicable; unlike some other ER Vets (refer to my above comments). If I have another critter emergency, CO Vet Spec will be the place I go to!! And I'll be referring them to all my friends.
Quick, professional service.
Very high marks for Colo Vet Specialists & ER - our 6 year old male cat had a sudden bladder obstruction, which could have been fatal. We brought him to the ER and they quickly assessed and diagnosed him, then performed two thorough surgeries, one to remove the obstruction, the other to hopefully prevent further complications. Otis was released slightly earlier than anticipated, and has been recovering very well. The staff and surgeons were thorough, communicative, empathetic and very professional. We fully trust the ER and one final positive element was the entire cost was actually lower than their original estimate, so we ultimately were charged on actual hours which brought the expense down by several hundred dollars. Highly recommend CVS.
Awesome, knowledgeable staff and doctors! All of the docs explained everything so I could understand and were willing to answer a multitude of questions from me. So grateful to them!!
To start, I have a 3 year old Border Collie, Heeler, Australian Shepherd mix. I took him on vacation with me to Florida for three weeks. When we returned home on a Tuesday, I found a small cut on his face which I figured he had received from my 2 year old niece who adored him and loved giving him hugs. I had an appointment scheduled the following Tuesday, but during the next four days, I slowly began to find that he was covered in scabs from his scalp down to his tail and down the back of his thighs. On Sunday, he ended up ripping open the wound on his face so I decided to take him in after work. I called my normal veterinary clinic, but they were unavailable to they recommended this place. I arrived around 7:30am to be quickly placed into a room. All of the lights were off, the floors were filthy, and I was left waiting for almost an hour. I was advised later that an emergency had come in just after I had arrived, but it is still frustrating that I could hear multiple technicians just socializing in the back instead of at least updating me on my “place in line” or just preparing him to be seen by the veterinarian. Finally, a tech came and got my dog to shave and clean his wound. Soon after, the veterinarian came in to advise me of her diagnosis; a sunburn. I had been doing a bit of research while sitting in the room, and I advised her that I did not agree with the diagnosis. I advised her that it actually may be a reaction to a deshedding treatment that he had done twice. He is very sensitive and I had not been advised by the groomer that it was a shampoo that was left in for 10 minutes. Also, he was never outside for more than 20 minutes at a time, he has incredibly thick fur, and he was not showing any other signs of sunburn (pink, sensitive to the touch skin, etc). Her main response to everything I said was, “Well, Florida is closer to the equator and it’s humid.” I was very tired and not willing to continue arguing, so I was given a week’s worth of antibiotics and a cone. (Which, due to the location of the wound, the cone only made it bleed more. So, I put him in a scarf/neck wrap instead **photo**). Two days later, his condition was not improving so I stopped by my normal veterinarian and she agreed with me that it was not a sunburn. I was given more antibiotics and a medicated shampoo. Almost instantly his condition began to improve. Overall, the trip to this emergency veterinarian was pointless. Now I’m down about $700 when I should have just waited and went to my veterinarian in the first place. The only positive part of the experience was that my dog was very fond of the veterinarian, which is incredibly rare for him. But, I will never be going back.
I took my SFT there for a breeding consult and was extremely pleased with the staff and Dr. Hess. Everything that needed to be done was done in a reasonable time. I'm very pleased with the care and attention to detail that I saw there. It is wonderful to have a caring reproductive vet available.
Great experience here! Vet recommended wait and see approach and we were able to avoid surgery
My dog had gotten a small bite at the dog park and even though it was minor injury I still felt the need to treat it just to be safe. They took awesome care of him and everyone was very welcoming. They made sure he left happy and I left with peace of mind. Thank you guys for taking care of my boy!
The best doctors and staff. Dr Hess is one of the top reproductive veterinarians in the country. We are fortunate to have her .
The staff here is incredible! They were super informative, reasonably priced, and treated our pups like they would their own. We were terrified when we had to leave our dogs overnight and they were so good about giving us updates throughout the entire process... literally every time I went to call to check on them, they beat me to it. Highly recommend!
Very friendly and caring .
Absolutely amazing service. My little girl Marley had a tick and they removed it with ease. She is feeling better and loves life again. Thanks :)
Very good vetenary service very professional
Great caring Vets specializing in reproductive health.
My appointment was for 7;30 a.m. they told she would be done at 11:00. At 12:00 I finally drove to the office to get my dog. Normally this would not have been so bad, but my dog was in for an echocardiogram for the second time. She has heart problems. I was very alarmed because for all I knew she may have had an attack and died and they were afraid to call me and tell me. That was not the case, but it did alarm me which could have been prevented with a phone call stating they were running behine.
My dog had a couple of seizures after hitting her head getting off a couch - she isn’t prone to them and doesn’t have a neurological issue as far as we know. I was terrified. Everyone here was so comforting and realistic. The doctor (I wish I could remember her name) let me know all my options, but mentioned that since my dog was so old it might not be necessary to try every avenue to find the cause of the seizures. I was so embarrassed because I was so emotional but they didn’t even seem to notice. Even while I was waiting for my dog I saw how good they were with all the other animals. I will say, the bill is pretty steep. But, I thought the price was worth the reassurance I now feel that my dog is safe. I was so scared, and they really helped calm my fears. I’m glad I had them to help me.
If I could give this “vet” 0 stars I would. They missed a HUGE issue making my cat unable to walk and I left with what they called “vertigo medication” and an $800 dollar bill with recommendations of more tests costing 100s of dollars. Less than 48 hours later I went to a cat specialist who told me her inability to stand and head tilt was due to something completely different then what I had been told and when I called to tell them what the specialist found they claimed it must have happened within A day (equivalent to the chances of finding a zebra walking down colfax Avenue) and to make sure they double check when they looked into ears of furry animals for infections. the receptionist was horribly rude and actually HUNG UP on me!!! I will NEVER go here again and waste money—would not recommend to anyone—ESPECIALLY FOR CATS!!! The service and bad experience was pitiful
Thank you CVSA! The entire process was smooth and all of the nurses and doctors were absolutely wonderful, especially Dr. Russel who sat with me for over 30 minutes even after her shift was over to discuss my dogs diagnosis and suggestions. Thank you so much!
Always professional, knowledgable & dependable.
Avoid at all cost. They sedate your dog for no reason and charge you a ton, give you random meds, caused my dog fever, asked me to stop giving him the meds because it will cause fever, really? And charge me another 300 for the fever
Dr. Lewis and staff quickly diagnosed the lameness issue with our 8 month old puppy. The surgery and care she received was top notch!
Teddy had emergency back surgery for herniated discs! Dr. Lewis did an excellent job, and took great care of him. The entire staff, and all the other doctors are caring, and communicated with me daily about Teddy's condition. Teddy is slowly recovering, and I hope, and pray he will get use of his back legs again soon. All of the doctors at CVSG are confident he will eventually be able to walk again!! Thank you, to all the doctors, and staff who took care of, and watched over Teddy during his 6 day stay there! I appreciate all your help, and dedication put forth in Teddy's care, and recovery. You ALL, saved his life! I'm forever grateful to all of you! Thank you.
Great service - responsive and reasonable - both the treatment options and prices. Our new go-to for doggie emergencies - which happen, unfortunately.
I can’t say enough great things about Colorado Veterinary Specialist! Their entire staff is very professional and so unbelievably nice. They took great care of our 13 year old senior dog Cooper when he had to have a fairly invasive procedure done. We are very thankful for them! Without them and their highly trained staff we would maybe not have our beloved Cooper around today! Truly can’t say say anything but great things about them and our experience!
Awesome group who will take care of your pet as if it were their own. Dr. Russell and her amazing staff are the best. Thank you
Thanks to the staff at CVSG. We took our 8 year old Pitbull in suffering from tachycardia. The staff was exceptionally kind, compassionate and took excellent care of our dog. Top notch staff and facility!
I am with Camp Bow Wow in Littleton and we use them for all of our emergencies. They have always given us outstanding service and take great care of the dogs!
We had to bring our dog here when he got his foot stuck in a storm drain and was bleeding profusely from his foot at 10pm one Saturday night. They were super helpful and quick. The only thing that keeps me from giving them 5 stars though is that the office was kind of dirty- there was fur all over the floor and I had to go back to the office later to get an invoice they said they'd email to me.
It's always a nerve racking process to have to go to the vet ER. I had some issues with my dog and brought him in for an exam. I preface this review by stating this situation is ultimately my fault. What do I mean? I have control of what procedures and medication I choose to use or not use. The bill came to $600 and we did a couple of unnecessary procedures and we certainly didn't need all the medication provided. Overkill. Buyer be smart. They are a business, yes they help our pets, but it's a business to make money. It's your right and responsibility as a consumer to ask questions and be diligent on procedures...do you really need it? Do you need that medication for $100? In my case, I didn't ask and I made a terrible mistake by not slowing their process down and being cognizant of what I was spending my money on. This is my fault and it sure doesn't feel good to be played. Everybody was really nice because they just made $600 off of me in less than 2 hours. We didn't need 1/2 the meds/procedures they set us up with. I feel foolish for not saying anything. Just remember folks....they are a business and use slick tactics to get your money. Be smart when going here and ask to disclose everything as you are moving through the process so you do not end up with an outrageous bill for $600 ...for nothing. Please protect yourself. Oh ya, they didn't find anything wrong with my dog.
Animal ER has never let me down when I need after hours care for my animals. Everyone is so nice, and they take such good care of my animals. They always follow up to see how the patient is doing a couple of days after the visit.
They were quick to act and got my dog in when other places wouldn't/couldn't. My baby had a spiral fracture and needed surgery ASAP. It was easy to tell the staff here are animal lovers. I'm very pleased with the quality of care and prices here. Would return if needed to.
The veterinary staff is one of best in this ar and they are great with their patients
These folks all did their heartfelt best to successfully treat my cat after a lymphoma surgery and getting his stitches out and then helped greatly to keep him in remission for several years. I love these folks!
Our ER and Repro Vet of choice. Withing 10 minutes of home, quick and easy to get to. The receptionists are always very friendly and helpful. When ever we need testing or procedures done they are there and available, even if it is 2am, the weekend or holidays, like New Years Day. We have a great rapport with the staff!!
It was horrible!!!
They took really good of my pup they really care about the animals and doing what’s right.
Knowledgeable, courteous, kind to my animal, and informative. BEST VET!
We (my dog and I) got a thorough exam and then a thorough update, as well as an estimate of future charges. I would recommend Dr. Lewis. I only wish that I could have been present during our dog's exam as she's in a high level of pain. However, I'm sure there are protocols.
Such care and professionalism and expertise from the staff here. Above all, I was informed of my options for treatment with honesty and practicality.
I have a love/hate relationship with this place. My dog was sick this week, where we took him to another vet initially. They were going to do a bunch of xrays, but we decided to start out with some medicine and go from there. Unfortunately the next day early in the am he was much worse. This was the only place open nearby. The vet tech within 10 min of looking at my boy knew it was bad and ran him back to the vet. Unfortunately with a simple ultra sound we learned this sickness was going to take his life. I just want to say thanks to the vet tech and the doctor who were so caring through this terrible news and explained everything so thoroughly, even though I blacked out and I don’t remember much. We had to put my doggy down then, and even though it was the worst thing I’ve ever done, the staff was amazing through it all. So I hate this place because this is where I said goodbye to my dog, but I love this place because they were so amazing with me and my Timmy. Thank you.
I took my 19 month old Belgian Sheepdog puppy in with a high temp on a Saturday night (of course! they seldom get sick during normal hours during the week!). The clinic was very busy even at that late hour, but he was kept stable until diagnostic tests could be run. This young dog had pneumonia, etiology never fully determined. He was dangerously ill, and they provided both healing and supportive measures until he was able to come home 3 days later. When I took him back in a week later for further diagnostic tests, he was thrilled to be there and trotted happily off to greet his new friends. They obviously did more than just treat him physically....he loves their great staff! I certainly hope I've no more after hours emergencies, but if I do, I'll be taking my dogs to Colorado Vet Specialists. They also have a great Repro Specialist whom my Terv is also very fond of!
I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!! They have been so amazing every time we've had to go in, which is quite a few times. We have 4 dogs and 2 out of the 4 are a bit accident prone. Staff has ALWAYS been courteous, and understanding. I would recommend this hospital to everyone. Thank you CVSG for saving our fur babies! <3
So checked into this place around 7:30 with a 3 month old cat who's been vomiting and had diarrhea all day. Came in with a stool sample so they could run a fecal. We were brought into a room within ten minutes of being here by a tech named dan who got the initial information from us and checked weight and temperature. We were then told by him that they were busy tonight and we might be waiting a little while (he did not take the sample to run the fecal which could have been done while we were waiting). TWO AND A HALF HOURS later with NO COMMUNICATION my mother finally went into the lobby and had to stare someone down and ask for an eta on when we would be seen. The doctor had no idea we were even here (super lovely) THANKS A BUNCH FOR THAT DAN. The doctor came into the room with us and decided a fecal needed to be ran....yet again I feel as though Dan maybe dropped the ball here as I said before, this could have been done during the two and a half hours we were waiting to be seen. After the decision to run a fecal was made another tech came in to try to tell us that the two teaspoons of poop we brought was not enough to run more than a direct at which point my mom offered to run it for them as she mentioned to them that she has been a vet tech for the last nine years. Then suddenly, there was enough to run the full four. I just love magic ;) So three hours into our journey, we are still waiting and will probably be here for a while. So just a heads up - anyone coming in should maybe bring a sleeping bag and some water and snacks, portable did player maybe, oh and of Dan checks you in maybe just turn around and go somewhere else
They did all the could. The surgeon that helps us came in on her day off to be with us at the end. Thank you to the hole staff for all the compassion and advice. You guys made us very comfortable threw out this very hard time.
We have been here several times for our two young dogs. The staff are friendly, they tell you what is going on and why they are doing what they are doing. Get pet insurance, though. It's pricey!
I had to take my 10 year old Boxer there for an injury to his leg after hours. The front staff was great and answered all my questions. However after I picked my dog up when they finished his sutures he was bleeding more than when I dropped him off. They prescribed way too much medication and for two days until I consulted with another vet my dog would not eat, drink, pee or poop because he was so medicated. After following other vet's directions and cut his medication in more than half he was eating and drinking and moving around normal and still had pain management. I took him in for follow up to get a tube removed and Surgeon Lineberger was awful. He said my dog was going to lose his leg and wanted to keep him for weeks to do a procedure and charge me $3,000-6,000. He did not answer any of my questions and said there was nothing I could do for him at home. I took my dog for a second opinion the next morning at Academy Acres and 2 weeks later my dog's leg was almost completely healed for only $52.00 I was able to soak his leg in water and iodine and continue medication and the dead skin fell off and his new skin grew back together. The sutures they supposedly did the night he was injured had all fallen out before the skin was closed and had to be re-sutured. Lineberger jumped the gun and thank the Lord I got another opinion and my dog's leg was spared!
The staff at Colorado Veterinary Specialists & Animal ER were very helpful and kind in a stressful situation. We had a puppy that was born 63 hours (it's true) after her litter mates. We took her in to the emergency because she was extreemly small and weak from not being able to nurse correctly. The staff showed us how to tube feed the puppy to give her a chance to catch up to her siblings. 5 days later, she is doing well. Thank you so much for your caring support!! ~Deanna
We had to take our baby BELLA to the emergency hospital at almost midnight and got the bad news that it was cancer and the tissue surrounding her heart had liquid so we had to put her down, not the news we expected but the service we got from the staff was amazing they took good care of her and making sure she was comfortable and allowing us to spend as much time as we needed saying good bye before and after! Simply blown away by their care for our fur baby and us the family.
Really friendly, helpful people here! Outstanding customer service! Thank you guys so much for taking care of my puppy!
Took very good care of our cat Bandit for congestion of the lungs. Be prepared to spend time there as they are very busy and the day we were there they had three emergencies. Very concerned and caring.
Everyone here was incredibly caring an understanding. The prices were absolutely reasonable. They even refunded some of our money when things went better than expected! Afterwards, they did wellness calls, not once but twice! We really appreciate everything they do. We hope we don't have to see them again, but if needed, this is absolutely the place to go.
Very happy, friendly and caring staff. As a clueless new pet owner, I felt very reassured and relaxed by the time I left.
Wow. Great staff. They saw our pup on a Saturday when we couldn't get in to see our regular vet. They cleaned up a minor wound and gave us peace of mind for only the cost of supplies. Highly recommend!!
Friendly staff and we were quickly seen.
Very quality care, Dr Hess took time to explain her answers to my questions. The office was extremely clean. This was just a our 1st office visit & I would recommend Dr Hess to anyone needing a specialist.
Very qualified and professional. They repaired my dogs knee. She went from hobbling around with one leg up to running around with her sister. Thanks!
The staff at Colorado Veterinary Specialists & Animal ER are amazing! We have had several fur babies in need of their expertise over the years and I wouldn't trust my babies in the hands of another ER. The knowledge and compassion is apparent with every visit and the communication is stellar. Thank you staff! The Herman's
They are always so wonderful and take great care of my dogs
Wow. Such a nice group of caring people. Thank you guys for making a difficult time a little easier. The little things you do mean a lot.
I recently rescued a Mastiff from the shelter, he had been in our garage and found some decon that we didn't even know was there. I called 3 emergency vets that all referred me to an animal poison control, after sitting on hold for 25 minutes I called in to this animal ER. The receptionist was amazing, told me to bring him in and even called back to remind me to grab what I could so they could identify it. My massive pooch is nervous around strangers and other dogs so when we got there we were hanging outside waiting for another patient to finish, the receptionist again noticed us and helped us in without incident. The tech was amazing, super calm and kind, really worked to calm us down and didn't skip a beat when I asked if they had a muzzle just to make sure everyone stayed safe. He explained everything and made the whole process smooth. My only issue was with the doctor, she didn't agree with my choice to pay and start the treatment immediately instead stating that I should bring him back at 48 and 72 hours to see if it was even needed. I appreciate that she was trying to save me money and save him the hassle of taking unnecessary medication. She did tell me there wouldn't be any side effects even if he didn't need it so I just wanted to be safe. The worst part was, after she left and shut the door, I could hear her and all the other employees discussing us. She very clearly didn't approve of my choice and had some strong feelings about us in general. I appreciate those on the staff that tried to take up my side and defend my choice but overall it was kind of sad to see that the doctor had no regard for us as her patient. Overall, the support staff absolutely makes it worth it. The receptionist and our tech were absolutely amazing. As to the rest, I support that the doctor is entitled to her opinion and I respect the knowledge she has to back it up, but he is part of my family and I don't want to risk his life. Also, the clinic might want to invest in thicker doors or remind the staff that the doors are thin enough that the patients can hear them.
How can a vet clinic (ER) turn away a pup that could be dying? That is what happened to my wife and her pup of 9 years. I'm in the military and out on training and my wife's dog got super sick. She took the dog who now can't walk, lift his head or hold any food or water down. But due to know having money at the minute to pay for the visit this ER told us they couldn't help us. I think it is sad that people whom "care" for animals so much, how they can send a family pet home to die over money.
Amazing place. Dr. Lewis and her staff are wonderful, knowledgable caregivers. They are consistently kind to us and especially our dogs. One of our dogs has been very sick, had been misdiagnosed by other vets. But here, they have really gone out of their way to figure out what is wrong. With their help, our sweet dog is finally going to be okay. We can't recommend their care enough.
They are always helpful and super friendly. Nothing is worse than bringing in your beloved pet for any small or big issues, but the staff here makes it a little more bareable by being so sweet!
Excellent everything. Dr. Lewis and the entire staff at CVSG have now done two TPLO surgeries on our dog, Jazz. They were quick and efficient while also making sure we understood everything we needed to know for aftercare. They worked with our vet here in Casper (no one here does TPLO). Would definitely recommend them and will take our dogs back if either ever needs anything else done.
Professorial, concise and priced well. They do not give the vibe they are out for money like other emergency and surgery centers.
Our cat was badly injured with a compound fracture in his femur. His leg was broken in three places. Dr. Lewis did the repair using multiple hardware and graphing. He is home now and doing well. Dr. Lewis did a great job explaining our options and allowing us to make the best decision for us. They have called everyday to check on him. Our cost also included all of his follow-up care which was wonderful. We were very happy with the service, care, and especially the professional work that Dr. Lewis preformed.
Friendly staff. Nice facility
I recently took my dog in because he was having seizures. The staff was great and started the examination right away. They are great at communicating, and provided me with clear detailed condition updates while my dog was kept for observation. They even valled a couple of days after he was released to check on his condition. Great group of people here!
Dr. Steven McIntyre and his staff gave great care to my 10 year old dog when I brought her for emergency care last Saturday evening. She was attacked by a coyote in our back yard and had several deep bite wounds on her abdomen. Upon arriving the staff explained the emergency procedures they would perform to alleviate her pain and to access her injuries. The doctor clearly relayed the information concerning her condition and how the trauma could possibly impact her recovery. He gave me options for follow-up procedures but did not pressure me when I decided to forego exploratory surgery against his medical advice. After reviewing the x-rays with me and having his staff clean and dress the wounds, the doctor sent us home with clear instructions for administering pain meds and antibiotics and recommendations for follow-up care with our vet. It has been 3 days since this occurred. So far my "Gracie" seems to be gradually improving though still she has a long road ahead of her. Overall I am very pleased with emergency care provided by Colorado Veterinary Specialists.
The only place I will go for emergency vet! Dr. Russell is so wonderful and the rest of the staff are so helpful and friendly. They really care about your pet.
Very friendly staff and have done a wonderful job on both of my dogs TPLO surgeries. Even after 2 different knee surgeries my dog still gets excited to go there.
Dr Lewis and her staff are the most caring and compassionate people i have ever met. I am so glad to have found them.
These folks are awesome!
Dr. Lewis is the best doctor ever.
BEWARE! Horrible. As other reviewers have said: Don't come here unless you like 2+ hour LONG WAITS just to be misdiagnosed. Waited 2 hours just to have the vet spend 1 minute with me, then misdiagnosed. Waited another hour for discharge papers. Returned because of misdiagnosis next day, waited 2 hours, when I complained I was told "well this is an ER, what do you expect?" Can't tell if they're severely understaffed or if they have a high-turnover of vets finding more reputable places to work at.
We had to have our sweet boy euthanized due to medical conditions. We called Colorado Veterinary Specialists and they were very sensitive and understanding over the phone. They provided a very private and comfortable setting so our whole family could be with our boy to his last breath. The staff was so kind and supportive. I would highly recommend them. So glad there are people in this world to help us with this very sad event. Thank you CVS.
The staff was very knowledgeable and compassionate during a stressful time.
Dr. Lewis is wonderful. Thorough, informative, patient, most and most importantly, was so sweet to my dog.
Knowledgeable, friendly people. Very accommodating for our ER situation. Definitely will return and reccomend their services!
Very caring, efficient, and extremely good.
If you care about your pet i encourage you to go elsewhere. Dr Lewis did a horrible job on my dogs TPLO and when we tried to schedule follow up visits she was always out of office or we were not allowed to make an appointment. How you refuse to let someone make an appointment for their dog is beyond me! Dr Lewis wanted to see my dog back in two weeks but a girl at the office named Brittany i believe did not allow me, saying that Dr Lewis had not made a note of that so i couldn't. I also had an issue with my dog's knee after hours and when i called the front office staff laughed at me...I then called Deer Creek Animal Hospital which was extremely helpful and kind. After receiving awful service here I finally transferred my dog over to Colorado Canine Orthapedics where they were able to assess the issues from post op at Co Vet Specialists. We are on track now no thanks to that office! I do NOT recommend Dr Lewis or that vet office.
The staff are friendly and helpful and Dr. Lewis takes time to explain things thoroughly and promotes alternative treatments rather than rushing to do surgery.
Worst experience ever!! Do not go here if you want to feel welcome or to feel safe with level of care for your pet!! From the moment we walked in we had a bad feeling. They took my puppy back to shave her for an ultrasound and brought her back to me after. They called my vet and lied about not being able to shave her and were recommending sedation against my wishes since she is a French Bulldog. Luckily my vet called to discuss with me and I left promptly. Now we are at another facility for ultrasound and they said they wouldn’t even think of sedating because she’s so mellow. Also just realized that my dog is now bleeding by her scar from getting fixed because they were too rough when they shaved her! Thank god my vet called me or who knows what would have happened to my baby! Definitely would not recommend going here!
