But what's more, even with end of life care and counseling, it was as profoundly well handled experience I could have imagined. It was a terrible, horrible day for us, August 16th 2014... easily one of the worst. And from my experiences with other vets / docs / pups... I wouldn't have wanted our last day anywhere else.

I cannot express how thankful I am to have such an amazing vet clinic. I have sent one of my horses there and came back with full recovery for a wire incident. And she has no problems being able to fully compete. As well as I have referred and taken 2 other horses there due to collic and had excellent results. Both of them went into surgery one was it 23 year old gelding and the other just recently was a BLM Mustang Colt yearling my friend rescued. They have very good communication skills. Very comforting to know that your horse is in the best of hands.

And everything total came out to less than $3k... compared to SAGE medical in Dublin where it was going to be close to $10k...

I can't say enough good things about this hospital. My dog had knee surgery on both knees here and recovered 100% and he is back running for his ball. This is where you need to take you dog for knee surgery. They treat your dog like royalty.

Receptionist was rude and her tone was nonchalant. No suggestions were offered. $500-1000 to have pet evaluated. I can get those prices at any vet specialist without taking chances with students performing procedures on my pet. And you can't see a specialist if your pet has already been evaluated by your own vet, they require you to go through the evaluation process with them, thus increasing cost to treat your pet. So much for caring for animals, this place is only concerned with making money.

If I could give 100 stars, I would. I could also write a novel about our experience, both prior to deciding to come to UC Davis and thereafter, but I'll just say that we will NEVER go elsewhere if our pup needs expert care outside of routine issues. After our 5 month old pup fractured his leg, we were given the runaround in San Francisco, from "put a splint on, it'll be fine in 3 weeks" to "it's not healing well anymore. You should get a $6K surgery or amputate". We did NOT feel good about this nor did we think surgery on a young resilient puppy was the way to go. We went with our gut. We were lucky to even get an appointment with Davis. We expected surgery and brought him in with the intention that he'd be admitted. We were OK with it, as long as he was (finally) in good and proper hands. Dr. Griffin and Dr. Chou (faculty) were amazing, kind, thorough and understanding. They explained every single x-ray, thought process and recommendation. Even debunked every single thing our SF vet said. And most important of all, our pup would NOT need surgery. We went today for our 4 week check-up and our pup is 100% healed, all FOUR legs intact! We are forever grateful to the staff here, especially Dr. Chou. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for what we believed was saving our sweet dog. THANK YOU!

Our Julianna pig was attacked by our dog and ripped her ears so badly that we thought they would have to cut them off, they scrubbed and scrubbed and found that the ears were actually going to heal up fine, the Doctor was amazing but the students were equally as amazing, everyone showed how much they love animals truly, then we got the bill, l was stunned, after 2 hours of work they charged $135.00!!! That's how much my regular vet charges for an office visit without meds or anything!!

Very sweet and helpful staff!. $250 emergency visit and a patient visit is all u need to initially expect. But it isn't bad. Great care and very assisting.

They saved my dog's life when no one else could! What's not to love. Lab work is done on the spot. No waiting a few days and then coming up with the next idea. Pharmacy on premises. And a consult with any specialist they deem necessary same-day typically. For all you get the price is much cheaper than going to a regular vet. But it may be high because you really get a lot.

Very pleased with my experience thus far. I had brought my dog in on the recommendation of my normal vet to address a stone blocking the ureter. An emergency nephrectomy was performed satisfactorily, and the cost was significantly lower than what I was quoted. Also, the staff were lovely about keeping in touch with me on my dog's progress. I got several calls, emails, etc. Of note to other owners with difficult dogs: my dog is also a bite risk. She's fear reactive, and that coupled with her breed, has made it difficult to find vets comfortable with treating her. UCD didn't bat an eye. They took the appropriate precautions to ensure everyone's safety, but she was treated with all the same care as a beloved lap dog.

If I could leave no stars I would, went last night at 9:15 PM got out of there at 2:45 am, they dont care about animals, only money. To shorten things up they charged 250.00, still didnt know what the problem was but that it would cost another 2000- 4000 dollars to find out what the problem is. And even more if they had to perform a ct scan. The student discharging was very rude at the end as well. And when I said I would like to leave with my dog it took them 45 min to bring him to me, he was panting like they had given him no water for the 3 or more hours they were looking at him. Dont go there you are better off using Google as your veterinarian.

Was there for over 4.5 hours mostly waiting to be seen by an actual doctor. Everyone was friendly enough but it seemed like they were busy and the real doctors would come in the room for about 15 minutes then leave for an hour. The student couldn’t not answer most of questions and they were not thorough at all in telling me what o should expect in terms of planning surgery and recovery. They told me they would call me the next day to inform me about surgery schedule and they did not. Disappointed since this place has such a good reputation

Equine hospital ruined my horses teeth, over the course of 3 years and 3 teeth floating! I didn't realize this until she had to see an equine dental specialist, who explained their mis-diagnosis of a dental problem and what they had done to ruin her mouth... I called them 3x to speak with a vet about what what happening with my horse. They never returned a call! However, they did continue to send bills & when I called and left a lengthy message to the billing dept...They still never called back, but sent me to collections! I can pay the bill, however feel they should not be charging me for ruining my horses teeth! I have paid a lot of money to them, almost 2k for the same horse for a lameness for the same horse... Which they could never diagnose what caused it. This horse developed numerous physical problems and eventually lost so much weight and was in such chronic pain I had to put her down. So, thanks UCD Equine hospital for showing whats important to you.... MONEY and your student training..... NOT caring for animals properly!

Never in my life have I ever seen a Medical Campus as big as UC Davis, their knowledge, care and compassion give me peace of mind as my pet pygmy goat spent a week in their care as well as his companion.

For 3 months in the row there have been issues with chemotherapy meds for my dog. They will not give you the meds unless one requests it on the paperwork, even if the medication dosage has changed and it's considered new RX. I am very disappointed with the lack of communication regarding medications.

If you ever need the best care and answers for your furry family member, this is the place to go. Our young shepherd had stumped 3 vets with her sudden decline in health and we took her here. Within 48 hours they were able to diagnose her. While her condition was too far advanced to save or treat, the staff and level of care was unparalleled. After having to let our sweet girl go, the staff sent us a memorial paw imprint and their condolences- I could not be more grateful. I hope you never have to use their emergency services or advanced level of care as we did, but if you do, take comfort in knowing they are the best.

They helped our dog with pancreatitis recover while doing strategically minimal procedures and diagnostics required to diagnose the issue correctly and heal our pet with minimum trauma to him. I had to have a cat put down, they said it would be no charge for the service and that they would bury the cats ashes, for free. Later I got a bill in the mail for $276.00!! The staff was less than concerned. All these people care about is money. I wouldn't take an animal there if it were the only place 2 go. I will never, ever, go to this place again. They are not concerned with your fur baby. They are concerned about money, that's it. Nothing more. It was a terrible experience. Never again.

I am so thankful that there is a 24/7 animal emergency in Davis. It was weekend evening when my baby got bitten by another dog. The emergency care was very effective and my dog is quickly recovering. Do not wait until the last minute if your dog is bitten by another dog, because the injury may be far more serious than how it looks. Thank you UCD vet hostpital.
