i can't fully express how happy i am with the staff at three village. as a new dog owner, i didn't know what to expect, but their care and love of animals is outstanding. having a new puppy you visit quite frequently, but they do offer coupons which are updated monthly on their website. i've seen three of their doctors and each have made me comfortable to work with. i have since moved to manhattan and still come in for olive's yearly checkups. i have peace of mind knowing she's in their care.

My son's dog Panda aka PaPa is a new patient of Three Village, I always like to read the reviews for further consideration of anything that I am getting myself involved in, one of the reviews was about the death of a beloved cat, I do sympathize with the owner's grief, I think it is also the responsibility of the pet owner to get more information on the medication that is prescribed, I always do my due diligence, and if I see that the medication is not a fit for my pet, then I do not administer, I have done this for a number of medication for our PaPa. I revert to something homeopathatic.

Convinced my mother to put our dog to sleep over manageable aggression issues at age 7. I did not and do not agree with the decision made. 3 stars rather than 1 because of obvious remorse shown by staff, this clearly wasn't a decision that anyone involved relished. Additionally our dog always loved his visits, quite impressed by that. Though in the end it backfired spectacularly.

In September 2012 my beloved cat Angelina was given convenia at TVVH for an undiagnosed condition. 9 days later she passed from severe anemia. I know that she was not anemic before the convenia injection because I did blood work 1-2 days before which showed no sign of anemia. At the time Dr. Carrillo told me she did not believe that convenia had harmed her although she said she thought Angie was dying and she didn’t know why. It is obvious that it did harm her and a search of the drug will show you that there have been numerous adverse reactions and deaths in cats and dogs to this extremely dangerous drug. I regret allowing the inj, I was ill and stressed out at the the time and I thought it would be easier on Angie not to have to take pills. But I knew better that it was not a good idea because of how long it stays in the system. I had already refused it before when someone here mentioned it and I felt like they were pushing the drug. I later learned that convenia goes bad if it isn't used in a certain time period after it is mixed so they would lose money etc. it is also very expensive compared to regular, mostly safe antibiotics. This drug stays in the system for 64 days, not two weeks so if your cat has a reaction nothing can be done to stop it. If your cat is already ill with anything major this drug can be a killer. Some cats who were perfectly healthy and who received convenia for a dental also died or had severe reactions as well. No cat shoild ever receive convenia imo but a compromised cat should NEVER receive this drug. It rapidly kills off both good and bad bacteria adversely affecting the immune system in an already compromised cat. The only known treatment for a reaction is to give supportive care, blood transfusions if your cat is anemic, and high doses of probiotics which has helped some cats. Convenia needs ro taken off the market and I still hope one day it will be. I did a necropsy on Angie at Cornell medical hospital. TVVH tried to delay it by taking a long time to write a report I needed to do the necropsy. They wrote innaccurate info about Angie’s care in the report in an attempt to malign me, and charged me $500 for it. Cornell charged $125 for the necropsy and a little more for a private cremation. They found that Angie had a non felv related cancer( there was a question that she may have had felv as well but pcr testing was not done to confirm active disease) and they said they felt that the anemia was caused by a chronic condition and that they had not heard of it causing anemia. A search however reveals that sadly it has caused numerous cases in cats as well as many other severe reactions and deaths. Another hospital we brought Angie to, LIVS, was aware of it and they told me this. I told Dr. C when we discussed this not to use convenia anymore and she said what can I use-/obviously use the other safer antibiotics. The life of your furbaby is not worth supposed convenience. No matter how sick they are you can manage to give them another medication. I later learned Dr. C did not listen when Bella’s mother wrote that Bella passed a few hours after receiving Convenia from Dr. C. She told me that Dr. C said she had never had a convenia reaction and that she thought it was all “stories”. It is sad but not surprising to see that an expensive money making drug takes precedence over the safety and life of our fur-babies. I brought my cats to this clinic for 20 years, after this event needless to say I left the practice. I had another problem with them years ago when a dvm told other staff I was crazy when I brought my cat in for breathing problems. A few days later she went into heart failure-we took her to Bobst AMC who saved her. Some of the staff have been not so great over the years and obviously in this case unprofessional. I blame myself for staying at the practice for so long- they seemed ok for average care but I should have found another practice.

I went there to get health certificates and a form filled out for my 2 cats who were traveling with me overseas. I had brought the EU form needed filled out (which took me all of 10 minutes to complete) but the vet said she had to fill it out herself, well that took her over an hour for no reason I can possibly figure out. They then had the nerve to charge me $500.00 to copy my form. Highway robbery, I complained and they told me too bad.on top of that they charged me $125.00 per cat for a 5 minute exam!!! Thieves, truly.

Dr DeVerna and all have been our Veterinarian's ever since we moved to Stony Brook in 1995. They have treated our cats through the years across the full spectrum of their medical needs from new kitten exam through end of life care. He, Dr Carrillo and the rest are smart, thorough and compassionate. They have treated our pets as they would their own. They are very dedicated to their profession. For anyone looking for a first rate Veternary Hospital, you owe it to yourself and your pets to consider the Three Village Veterinary Hospital. Call their knowledgeable and personable front office to make an introductory appointment.

I'm extremely sad to write this review yet pet owners, beware! On February 15th, 2014, we brought our beloved cat Bella to Three Village Vet's office to diagnose and treat her. After examination, Dr. Carillo concluded that a possible reason was a broken tooth and possible infection in her upper right jaw. The doctor wanted to give Bella pain and antibiotic medications. We mentioned we had pill pockets and trusted our sitter to handle the medication needs (we had planned a trip). Dr. Carillo told us the antibiotic, Convenia, was long-lasting and would cover her while we were away, without the need for pills. She administered the Convenia and a pain medication, Buprenex, in combination with sub-q fluids. We took Bella home and two hours later, found her dead. We called Three Village's office first and a recording advised us to contact our emergency vet's office, which we did. Bella was taken there for cremation. The next day, trying to understand how such a healthy cat with only a dental problem could have died so suddenly, we explored the 2 drugs administered. It took only a few seconds to find thousands of actual reports of adverse reactions to Convenia, including death. It was a shock to realize Dr. Carillo had made a choice to use this drug without informing us of these possible side effects, especially when other options existed. It is a vet's professional obligation to provide enough information to give informed consent for the use of any drug, treatment or procedure. (review the American Veterinary Medical Association). Dr. Carillo chose not to do so, and our sweet Bella is dead. If you are a pet owner, be aware that your vet is REQUIRED to give you written explanation of any procedure or treatment before commencing.

I could not thank the team at Three Village Veterinary Hospital enough for saving our beloved dog, Roscoe. After going above and beyond for childhood pets, now my wife and I and our two kids still visit this animal hospital. Dr.Deverna always takes time to explain and answer all of the questions that my family and I may have every time we come in. Roscoe suddenly became very sick. We called at 5:30pm and they told us to come right down even though they were closing at 6. When we got there the staff was all very accommodating. They all showed compassion and were there for us. After doing some tests and xrays we learned that Roscoe had a mass on his spleen. After being given all of our options, we decided to go forward with surgery. We were very fortunate to have Roscoe make a full recovery. I know if it weren't for 3 Village vet and taking such quick action, we wouldn't have Roscoe with us today.

My husband and I absolutely love Three Village Veterinary Hospital! Our puppies adore Dr. Sophia, and she takes the best care of them whenever we bring them in. When our newest puppy broke her leg and had to have surgery, Dr. Sophia called us right away to check in and see how she was doing, which meant the world to us! All of the vet techs and front desk staff are also amazing! I couldn't imagine bringing our babies anywhere else.

I trust my pets to no one else. The doctors and staff literally pulled one of my cats back from death's doorstep. They gave me 10 more incredible years with her, for which I am deeply grateful. I brought another cat to them that literally hated people, after a somewhat illuminating visit, they had diagnosed almost all the causes of her being so miserable. Some months later after treatments, the cat literally transformed from hell cat into contented house kitty who wanted to curl up with everyone. Dr. Carillo, Dr. Cintron, Dr. Deverna and Dr. Zeichner are all awesome.

Victoria Carillo is a wonderful vet. I have two cats and it was our first visit. I am very glad we met her because she was professional yet very caring and informative. One of my kitties needs a little dental work and I will be bringing him back here because I truly trust Dr. Carillo.

Janet Cho

Dr. DeVerna is such an honest and friendly vet. The prices here are very reasonable too!

Christine Wright

Caring professional individuals who take the time to listen to a pet parent's concerns.

The veterinarians have taken great care of my three cats Zoey - 14 yrs Colby - 8 yrs and the latest addition to the family Gus at 6 months. They also took compassionate care for our Harry who passed away at 16 yrs. My comments above speak for themselves as a testimonial to this practice. Adding 6/6/19 that I just brought in Zoey and Dr Carillo was wonderful and warm with her. I highly recommend.

We have been going to Dr. DeVerna for almost 30 years. They have taken care of ALL our dogs and cats. They are caring folks. Dr. DeVerna will spend time with you telling you anything you need to know. NOT like others that just want your money. He has given us reduced rates when he knew I was not working. How many others would do that? He has spent a hour talking to us about our dogs injury. I would STRONGLY recommend him to anyone who wants a Vet. who cares about his patients, and their family.

Regina downing

The Best Veterinary Hospital we have ever taken our dogs to. The doctors and staff truly love animals. I only wish I could find "people" doctors that were that nice. They don't try to talk you into anything your animal doesn't need and/or they don't hike up your bill! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a wonderful vet!

Three Village has been taking care of my pets since I had my first dog when I was a kid. Now I have my own kids and when my wife Jaimie and I decided to bring a dog into our family, we knew that Three Village was the ONLY Veterinary hospital we would use. Our dog Chevy loves going there and she loves the staff. Amazing office, amazing doctors, the only place we would trust to take care of our dog.

The Vets at Three Village have been treating my dog since he was a few weeks old. He is now almost 17 years old and doing great. They have taken care of all his medical needs for the entire time without any problems. I have even boarded "Nero" there on my many business trips over the years, he loves it there and the staff treats him like their own. I recently lost my dog to old age and he died peacefully in his sleep at home. The staff was extremely helpful in my deep sorrow. They were able to answer all my questions and came up with the right answers for my request for his cremation and final resting place. Dr. DeVerna and staff reacted as if they had lost one of their personal pets as Nero was considered.

I have been taking my dogs to this veterinary hospital for 15 years and can't say enough about how warm and caring the staff and doctors are. The doctors are thorough and treat my pups as if they were their babies too. They are like family to us.

Tracey Fettinger

Very thorough. Took their time with my dog, Bella. Explained everything to me regarding procedures and vaccinations. Office came highly recommended by a friend and I can't thank her enough! The staff was very nice and accommodating as well. I highly recommend this place to all pet owners! I live quite a few towns away and this office is worth the trek. My dog was very calm after her visit and not traumatized at all!! Totally worth two thumbs up!

Jessie

I have brought all my babies to this vet and I love them. They are such a wonderful practice I would recommend them to anyone who has pets.
