Great place and they have everything in one location.

Just came on here today to look up their phone number to call them and saw they had an over all 3.2⭐ rating and I had to write a review. I am honestly shocked to see this rating. I ALWAYS bring my pets here without any hesitation. Their staff is amazing, warm, kind hearted, and genuine. Last year I took my cat Marcie to them, she was very sick but we had no idea why or what she had. Our doctor literally sat in the room with us and cried because she had no idea what was wrong. She told us Marcie probably only had a couple days at most left. Both us and our doctor excpected 2 days at most left and our doctor called us PERSONALLY CRYING to offer her condolences and senserest apologies. To our surprise Marcie had not passed yet and when we told her she offer to help and offer ways for us to help ease Marcie's pain. I would and will still go here for any of my pets AND I will ALWAYS RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Great help yesterday when I had to bring in my dog for an emergency. My spouse and I will be going to then from now on.

Naomi Murphy

The staff was professional, friendly, and very customer oriented not to mention the facility itself was very warm and welcoming. In addition to all of this, they have excellent clinic hours - great for us working folks.

jessica loney

Truly a shitastic place, they had no problem allowing my dog to die in front of them when all she needed was insulin, wouldn’t give her water but when it comes time to pay I’m suddenly paying for urgent care she NEVER received due to a heavily neglectful staff. My dog stayed waiting in critical condition for over 4 hours I’m genuinely surprised she pulled through. If you care about your pet don’t bring them here , they just called to tell me they didn’t want my dog there due to a personal problem with the staff. Dropped my dog like a bag of rocks after paying well over a grand These people don’t care about you or your animal, they can’t even pretend to. Three days to fill a prescription ?? You’re lazy AND neglectful are you trying to get my dog back in critical condition ??? There’s red flags and warning signs all over this place if I could give a negative review I would :-5

I can’t understand the bad reviews! I brought my Cocker Spaniel here with an “urgent” issue and she was treated so kindly and with urgency. I have no complaints about wait time, service, the medical team, or the cleanliness of the place. I just relocated to Travis AFB and will be bringing my fur babies to this clinic from now on. The prices are affordable and reasonable even without the military discount (which they offer). Thank you for taking such good care of my baby, Sunset!

This is the BEST Animal Hospital EVER!! Dr. Hill and the wonderful staff there are amazing. And the hospital is CLEAN like a hospital for humans. Sounds crazy but I judge a place on appearance and the last animal hospital I visited was not so clean and welcoming. I’m glad I found this Veterinarian Hospital for my sweet puppy and look forward to building a long relationship with their caring staff ♥️

Tyler Burk

Very friendly and accommodating staff at Sunset Animal Hospital. I Have been going to them for about a year or so now and I would absolutely recommend them they offer excellent care.

Sue Poole

They took very good care of my cat and educated me on what I needed to know to help my cat live a longer more quality life.

I would just like to say I will NEVER AGAIN go back to this establishment. My sisters dog had surgery a week ago Sunday. He has had 24/7 supervision throughout his recovery. He has been wearing the cone collar since the surgery as instructed. Monday he had his follow-up appt at Sunset Animal Hospital. The tech took him to the back, supposedly to remove the staples. My sister heard him yelping and crying. The tech came back out and Jakes prior well-approximated incision was botched and bunched up with 6 Staples! I had been seeing him.daily to check on him as well since the procedure. The incusion was clean, smooth, intact, and showed no sign of infection. Both my sister and I are.nurses and have a well-trained eye in signs and.symptoms of infection and/or wound complication. They documented that my sister was "in denial" as to the integrity of the wound. I had personally seen the wound and it was the picture of a successful procedure and healing appropriately, as aforementioned. I immediately went to my sisters to see Jake and he was in such pain his leg was quivering. They did this with no anestetic, and without telling my sister it would happen, nor obtaining her consent for treatment. I went down to obtain records and spoke with Tim the Supervisor, who snickered at my report when I stated my sisters nursing education was dismissed as her "only being limited to knowledge of one breed." When I called to inquire about what happened, I was told that "the staples were not actual staples-they just pinch the skin together and dont hurt." This information came from the tech. Again....both my sister and I are well-versed on surgical staples. I brought this up when I went down to speak with Tim regarding the issue. He confirmed that I was given misinformation. I showed him a picture of the botched staple job, swollen and red. He verbalized that the staples were surgical. He also stated the tech should have told my sister the plan of treatment before they took this barbaric and unnecessary action. The tech also told me that Jake was happy and wagging his tail the whole time. When I saw Jake for myself before going to pick up the medical records on him, as well as my two dogs who had been being seen there, he was in no shape to wag his tail. They not only hurt my sisters dog, they lied about it, and topped it off by negating our formal education as nurses who well know what signs and symptoms of infection are! I am afraid for anyone who takes their animal to this place. What happened to my sisters dog was beyond cruel. All Four Paws in Suisun now has 3 new clients!

The people there are very nice, however, it seems like it's run by greed. Prices are always high compared to other places. Our first few visits were pleasant, but we always walked out with a HUGE bill. A few months ago, my cat became very I'll. We took her in but they didn't offer any options than to wait to see if she gets worse. I could not stand seeing her deteriorate, so I took her back 2 days later. Again, not many options other than a sub q. A day later I went back and asked if she could have an actual medical evaluation, like bloodwork and radiography etc. They said oh sure. Next thing I know, they inform me she has cancer and that I can either put her down, or take her home and watch her die. I was heartbroken, but something in my gut told me this couldn't be it. I ended up taking her to another vet for a second opinion. The vet was great, he looked at the results from sunset and gave us some meds and informed us that we needed to get her to eat and that the meds should help. Next I know, she bounced back up within a week. Took her back for a follow up and after some more tests and radiograph, the vet said she was fine, whatever she had was gone! And to think that I was so close to just putting her to sleep! It's infuriating. I ended up switching vets and I'm so happy now.

I called this morning when they first opened to see about an apt for my dog who had a hematoma on her ear. They were able to see her same day. great care for both me and my dog and best prices I've seen in a long time

Worst place to take ur dog to get taken looked at as soon as you walk into the vets office you're greeted with a hateful greeting seems like if the secretaries are forced to be there. You make an appointment and when you get there they tell you they're overpacked yet there's nobody in the waiting area worst vet hospital to come to would not recommend this place to anyone stay away from this place BEWARE!!!!

My kitten, 7mo. old SCOUT has an upper respirtory problem, I'm out of town and my mother brought her in. she has been seen there before I was told $138 for xraysis is all needed but gave them $180 pre-pay for her visit. I asked if this is ALL THEY NEED AND WAS TOLD YES! The vet refused to prescribe anything or even touch her if there wasnt $338 pd 1st for diagnostics of the same ones we already pd. for! So she turned away my little SCOUT ! My kitten is dying a slow death and I am furious that they did this to her! It's very inhumane she told my mother it's between you and the front desk what you agreed on not me and you I want $338 and turned away!! I am going to every means of reporting her. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR FAMILY PETS

Luis Velazquez

A while back I took my siberian husky, to this clinic, because of a very bad left ear infection, they recommend a check-up and a blood-test, blood-test came back negative, but after spending $260 my dog, still has the same ear infection, it's like they weren't too concerned at all about it or payed any attention, to it am very pissed-off about it, it's like they got me to spend $260 for nothing. All I wanted was for them to fix his ear...never going back to this place again.

All employees including Dr.s act like they hate their jobs. Often just plain rude. ' office manager is the only one who is pleasant to deal with

This review is long overdue. They saved my German Shepherd’s life several years ago when she got into a roommates 800mg bottle of Ibuprofen. She did it when we weren’t home and we had no idea how many she actually ate. Well, she wasn’t acting right (she was 1 yr old) when I got home. She just laid around and didn’t care I was there. Very unlike her. Then I found the pill bottle all chewed up. I took her in and she was in kidney failure:( They kept her for a full week and she was on IV fluids the entire time. I visited her daily and everyday she got better. I have never seen her fur so shiny and healthy by the end of that week! She was back to her same old self, but I was warned that she could have some permanent kidney damage and that would affect her later in life. She lived to be 10 years old-her kidneys failed at the very end. Best and smartest dog ever

I've been going to Sunset Animal Hospital since 1993 when I moved to CdA from Massachusetts. At the time, I had 1 dog (Doberman mix) and 2 cats who have since passed of old age. Sunset has always treated my animals with kindness. Currently, I have have two dogs (a German Shepherd and a Pomchi) plus 1 cat. We continue to go there for excellent customer service. Over the years we have experienced 1 cancer surgery for my beautiful yellow Lab, 1 dog bite to a cat, spaying, and soon to be neutered dog. I appreciate them and know they do the very best for our animals. Thank you.

Id Gray

The staff has cared for two dogs of mine, Buster and Buck, and have taken excellent care of both. I've been dealing with them for over ten years and really appreciate how they've treated both my dogs and myself.

When I walked into Sunset Pet Hospital my first reaction was the office staff was very open, calming and sweet to us. We had to wait due to an emergency and the communication was top notch. They let us know exactly what was happening and if we wanted to wait outside we could. They would call us when the techs were free. (which they did). Our dog tends to get extremely stressed in situations like this and going outside immediately calmed her down. When the techs were ready they came out to get us. They were so very sweet to us and our dog. I think my dog fell immediately in love with the tech. (she is very leery of others as she is a rescue and has trust issues). Is was so reassuring to know that my dog was calm and trusted this woman. When Dr. B came in to talk to us she got down on the floor with our dog and talked to us in the most warm and caring manor. She is the ONLY Vet I will take our dog to and any future pets as well. She spent quite a bit of time with us talking about and discussing different schools of thought on the different types of medicine for our dog. Our dog has PTSD and separation anxiety from being abused as a puppy. Dr B. was very thorough with her explanation of each drug, the side effects and the possible outcomes when choosing the different medicine. I think she spent 45 minutes with us. I know that my Dr (Dr. Elise Brandwajn) and the staff at Sunset Pet Hospital are the best there are. I will never go anywhere else.

I was extremely impressed with this vet. Staff was super warm, helpful and friendly. Dr. Hill was completely down to earth, caring, knowledable, and professional. She took the time to thoroughly advise/explain everything and answer all of our questions without making us feel rushed or hurried in any way. Plus she has a great way with our kitty and effortlessly helped to keep him calm and at ease throughout the entire visit. Truthfully, her work was impeccable on every level. Best vet visit that both my fiance and I ever experienced. Highly recommend this place and encourage every pet owner to try them out. Plus office stays open late and may be able to get you in same day if needed. Plain and simple... Sunset Animal Hospital provides top notch service at it's best!

Their only motivation is greed. They wanted $1500 up front for a emergency. Then when I couldn't afford that, pulled me into another office to "apply for a credit card. I was of course denied since I have lived out of country for last 3 yrs in Japan (military) and just had to buy a car. Then they had me sign a release of responsibility to them before I left having paid $200 as my dog is still dripping blood on their floor. California greed!

Kathy Kear

very conscientious vet care- extremely thorough, thoughtful and supportive support staff is very helpful and organized. very kind and loving to my dogs. very helpful over the phone and in person. always get my needs met. feel supported when I am stressed. Dr. B is a genius . she thinks outside the box and I believe, treats my dogs like her own. she is extremely detailed and thorough in her care and follow up with all my dogs. She is very dedicated to her work and I would never go anywhere else. I followed her when she left another clinic because I knew my dog with metastatic cancer was going to continue to receive the stellar extraordinary care through Dr. B. I have to travel much further but it is so worth it.

We absolutely love the staff at Sunset Animal Hospital. We have been bringing our dogs there for about 4 years or so no and they have taken wonderful care of them.

This place has changed, the original owners have been removed a corporation has taken over, they have raised there prices up to 500%,( 3 years ago my dogs teeth cleaned $350 now $1200-1600 ) they have high staff turnover ( never see the same vet or staff twice) The vet tells me my dog has a bad anal gland issue and needs all this stuff done plus surgery to remove it. the trip in was $350 to remove gland $ 2000.00, Got second opinion it was only irritated another vet scratched his head as to what this guy was trying to do, well let me guess here they push high priced testing and procedures and they get a cut of it.Be careful and don't fall for there high priced schemes. this place sucks period. will not be going back ever

The pretty much killed my cat, and of course, then their staff rudely tried to blame his condition on us, because they could not figure out that our Cat now has a blockage. They have mismanaged his diabetes, mismanaged his care, convincing us to go to a less expensive insulin, that is made for animal diabetes, and now he is probably going to die. Do you think you would pay $300 a month for a cats medication just to let them die? Their doctor, is almost always gone. She takes LOTS of Trips out of town! I'm done giving these fools our money, just to have our fur babies suffer? They have cost us a literal Fortune. I'd rather give it to someone that cares, because Sunset Animal Care...They don't!

Stephanie Escobar

As compared with the other facilities I have trusted with my pets, Sunset has been the one I have become loyal to. The staff is friendly and helpful, and each time I pick up my pets, I can tell they have been well cared for.

Linda Foreman

Great place to take my children (pets - ha ha ). They get very good care, are soothed by being talked to - held - cuddled, etc. I have so far had to have about 3 animals put down and it is done with the very best of love and tender loving care -- are soothed with a soft voice and a no pain approach. I would recommend them highly.

Morgan Cook

Always been very informative and efficient when I bring my ragdoll cat in. I don't trust my precious kitty with many, but the vets are knowledgeable and appreciative of a fancy cat. When Avery decided to be a bad kitty and tried to attack they handled it professionally, although I was terribly embarrassed. (I don't believe it was anything they did to provoke him, he was just scared.) I hope Avery can warm back up to them, as they have always been good to him.

Took my cat in and they said it was a tumor, they wanted 400.00 + for sergery. I could afford it. They told me he is living on barrowed time. Two days later the so called tumor was gone. My mom took her dog in yesterday to have his ears checked for infection, they said they were fine. This morning they are green puss dripping out of them with a bad oder. How do you miss that. Will not give them any recommendation

If I could give them less stars, I would. The front staff is nice, vet techs were helpful as far as I could tell from our one and only visit. But we will never go back. I didn't have a chance to meet Dr. Hutton so I can't speak about a visit with him, but I can with Dr. Giddings....I repeat, I will never go back. I've sent several emails regarding a refund, Dr. Giddings missed the diagnosis I specifically asked her about and she said she didn't want to "intervene" but my dog could have died. Thankful for another competent vet in town who caught it the next day.

Very clean facility, always make time when I am available. Genuinely care about animals and their owners! Update 3 months later: miss spoke /reviewed... more than once it was directly indicated they do not want Avian business. My last visit they did a wing clip so poorly my $600.00 parrot almost broke her neck crashing HARD rather than gliding to a lower perch. (Sunset Animal Hospital had never done that before) Ive enjoyed the location and facility, but today when I went to collect my pet(s) medical records after 5 yrs of loyalty, there was no; sorry for the inconvience, thank you for your business, or even a referral, but rather more of a yeah, we don't do brids aka we dont want your business, don't let the door hit ya on the way out. There are too many choices in the Cda area not to maintain a higher level of customer service.

Ladynorcal Fairfield

I used to love this vet when they were in Suisun. Since they moved their level of service has gone steadily downhill. Long waits, poor customer service, and high prices. I believe that the vets still care and are very good but the "business" has become more important than the care. It's very sad. I had to move to another Dr.

Brandon Jackson

Been to this office twice with 3 pets. My very first experience was a few years back and they treated me very fair and I felt their help and advice was very genuine. Just recently rescued a dog a few weeks back and decided to take my new dog to this vet because I felt they were good a few years back and I was pleased with service. Mind you I now live in Dixon so now I’m going out of my way to have my dog looked at. My first appointment was just the examination and we decided to get a chewable flea pill for my dog. During the exam the dr just looked at my dog for about 3 minuets barely touched her and said she looked fine. Didn’t listen to her hear beat or take a temperature or anything but they were real quick and very detailed on showing me the payment plans. A day later I made a appointment to have my dog get the rabies shot and I Pacifically asked the front desk girl how much would it cost to just get the rabies shot? And she told me around $22 and after they gave my dog the shot total came up to $37 because they added some tech charge for the shot. The point is they seem to be all about Money and not actually wanting to help your pets and be concerned. I ended taking my dog to Banfield hospital in the back of pet smart and they were very professional caring and checked out everything for my dog and they were free first visit. I wouldn’t recommend this spot at all. Few years back they were for pets and helping families, today they’re all about money and themselves. Good luck for anyone who takes their pets to this place

Melissa Cortes-Garcia

Our dog always goes to the day care and loves it! Only way I know is because he comes home all wiped out!

Two different trips. First trip, dog has a seizure, didn't know what to do so I took him here. I was met by a Health Administrator who was unpleasant and informed me there was no Vet on duty during the weekend to go somewhere else, although the side of their building says emergency and is open. After arguing with this lady, she got someone to Triage the dog, which really put her out. The nurse was nice and helpful and later on the Vet was helpful although the wait on an appointment was long. Second trip, dog ripped his nail off to where the nerve was exposed. Walked in the Emergency entrance and where I was greeted by a different 'Award winning' Health Administrator. Asked me if I had an appointment. I stated no, I went in the Emergency door so I would not have one. She let me know emergencies are by appointment only. (I work in a Hospital and do the same job, Emergency by appointment is a new concept) I informed her the side of her building and website that states Emergency Walk ins do not elaborate on needing an appointment. So a little less attitude and more understanding would be great. She called a Tech to Triage who over the counter looked at my dog and said we can see him in the evening, not looking at the dog up close or performing any actual triage. So, long story short were rude and act like they didn't want us there, but informed us it's $78 to get an exam. You would think for these prices and it being a Hospital to service pets, they'd want to actually help you and not be rude and non understanding. Additionally other people at the same time were met with the same frustration. In short, we ditched this place and went to another vet in Suisun who were friendly, understanding, and professional. They allowed walk ins and helped our dog. This place does not want you to come. So don't bother. Fool me once, shame on me, you fool me you can't get fooled again. (I will not come back.)

Stephanie Duck

I have only been once (was new to the area) and I was not impressed at all on my first visit. On my recent visit there, my appointment was at 2:00. I left work early to go grab my dog, and got there at 1:45. I was told to check in 15 min early since I'm a new client. I was checked in at 2, and sent back to the room by 2:00 to wait for the vet. Nobody entered the room until 2:20. This is a tech, and not the actual vet. The vet didn't come in until 2:30. I've now been here for 45 min. I finally meet the vet, and I have nothing bad to say. She was caring, concerned, listened, and treated. BUT, once it was time to leave and pay- once again a bad experience. Their website clearly stated they take both American Express credit cards, AND checks. Along with the paperwork I filled out for being a new client. It asked me to circle my form of payment, and both personal check, and American Express were on the form. I brought both with me, because my debt card is visa, and I was afraid the bill might be high. Well, sure enough the bill was almost $300. I didn't want that to come out of my checking account due to the fact I budget. And I didn't want my husband to see I just spent $300 on a vet visit

Chelsea

Won't price anything over the phone. Alarm bells immediately. Beware!

Auggie B

Very rude, sometimes bordering on hateful staff here. There have been a few friendly gems over the years but not consistently. This place is VERY euthanasia-happy, both in my experience and from hearing from other people who have gone here. They'll gladly put your pet to sleep and then slap you with a huge overinflated bill when, if you get a second opinion, your pet's condition is entirely treatable. They've done this to a dog and a cat of mine. They have no compassion for animals and no compassion for grieving or panicked pet owners. I took my cat here during an emergency situation, they took her to the back, and after a while came out to inform me there was no hope so they had put her to sleep. I was understandably upset and crying, and the vet SCOLDED ME FOR CRYING and asking what happened. He threw a hissy fit and wouldn't give me any answers until I apologized TO HIM for crying, moments after he put my cat to sleep with no explanation. Reception staff is equally rude and unfriendly, even hostile when trying to schedule appointments or pay. Almost universally you'll be told there's no room, no available appointments, or no available vets when you call to schedule, all with a snotty tone. It really honestly is like they do not want you to come here, they do almost everything they can to keep you from being able to, or even wanting to. A favorite of theirs is quoting you one price, you agree to it, and then afterwards you're given a new price that is double or more what you were told. The only pleasant experiences I have had here were when I had to regularly take in my rabbit who had dental issues for teeth trims . If I could ever actually get an appointment, the folks who helped with him were usually very sweet. But I believe they eventually left Sunset and no longer work here. Overall, this vet office is awful.

Brianna Carabajal

Never will go back. Front office manager is rude and has no customer service skills. She argued with me because her staff gave me the wrong information. Lets just say I cried after leaving the office. And not to mention they charge way to much for a visit.

Chuck Crowell

We have been using Sunset for years and was becoming dissatisfied lately with the turnover of personnel. I guess I wanted Rosie to see the same Dr as she aged. However, after our last visit and the problems she was having, I wanted her euthanized by a place where she was comfortable. If I could give 10 STARS I would. They made a very difficult situation for us and her so very manageable. After scheduling a same day appointment to accommodate us, when we got to the clinic we were taken immediately into a special room without waiting around in the entry and a tech came right in to explain the happenings. A special bed was set up on the floor (88 lbs) and within minutes Dr Miller came in with a few questions, Rosie was taken, prepped and returned to the bed. We had the option of some time with her and when we were ready Dr. Miller and tech came into the room to conduct the procedure. They were gentle and kind to her throughout the entire event and while as hard as it is to do, Sunset and staff made the entire procedure bearable.

Krista Knight

I have been taking my pet to Sunset Animal Hospital for about 7 months now and they are great. I am always seen by the vet in a reasonable time. The staff are all very caring and friendly and I am very happy that I found them.

John Dernoncourt

The people here are always friendly and the prices are quite reasonable for check ups and beyond. My family has been using this facility for over a decade now and they have always done right by us. We have not tried their boarding services.

userpick707 .

I walked into Sunset Animal Hospital. The Cat Entrance. The receptionist didn't even say hi to me. I said hi twice and then hamsher said how can I help you. Didn't make me feel very welcome. There was no availability and I understood that. She said we're booked but didn't even offer me to try to book and appointment. From the very second I walked in I did not feel welcome.

Mara Spencer

Sunset Animal Hospital is the best. Everything from the customer service, the care that is shown to our animals by the staff and the convenience of longer business hours than most other vet hospitals.

Bevy Kona

after almost 6 years of having them for my vet and being happy with them, i'll have to say, the past year has sucked. the receptionists they are hiring are ditzy and all the vet on the phone wanted to talk about was the COST of seeing my SERVICE DOG at 9:30 at night. i didn't want to come in, i had a question. it was "does a direct hit from a skunk smell like chemicals and onions?" and "would the spray in my dog's mouth make him foam?" i SAW the skunk spray him, i thought, but the smell threw me off. omg they were talking XRAYS (huh???) overnight stay (he's a SERVICE DOG and keeps me alive) blood work etc and quoted me 1200.00. yes you read right, TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS! i said, you know, i used to sing your praises but for the past year you've gotten worse and worse. so imma find me a new vet. they didn't care. i just had cancer surgery so my daughter is taking my other dog to get anal glands squeezed. this will be our LAST visit. they tried to upsell me simply on "he needs his annual check up". OMG HE'S THERE EVERY MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i pointed this out and said, look, i cannot drive yet because i had half my guts removed a few days ago, from cancer surgery. i cannot wait to see what happens when my kid takes the dog in. i've instructed her to get nothing done but what i made the appt for. it's so disappointing because they were so good. AND THEY do not discount registered service animals like a lot of vets. so adios mofos. i've moved out the hood and will be finding a new vet elsewhere. one of YOUR employees recommended a vet where i live now. can't be any more expensive than you've become. i'll just have to put up with wine snobs lol.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! We followed our favorite veterinarian to this hospital and could not be more pleased. Everything from the customer service, the care that is shown to our animals by the staff and the convenience of longer business hours than most other vet hospitals. The hospital is clean and spacious offering a variety of services from grooming, boarding to emergency hospital care and the prices are competitive with other veterinary hospitals of this caliber. The technicians are knowledgeable and the front staff our friendly and efficient. We have 1 doggy and 3 pussycats that are all seen here. Dr. Brandwajn is our regular vet and we can't say enough about the love and expert care she provides our furbabbies. She also happens to be the Medical director there and is committed to being up to date on all the latest procedures and modern animal care techniques. Almost 2 years ago she personally saved our kitty Teenie from certain death after she became seriously ill. She required a 3 hour surgery to save her life when her abdomen became septic from a horrendous infection and was given a less than 50% chance of surviving. I would highly recommend Sunset Animal Hospital if the highest quality care for your pets is what you are looking for. Truly the best!!

I took my three pets for their rabies shots, and of course there was an exam for each, however I weighed all the pets, and one did not have his temp taken, and each had four places listened to with the stethoscope. One of the dogs was removed from the exam room and taken to the back ( this always concerns me since mote bill dogs can be in the back) and his temp was not taken.. Although exam rooms are cleaned after each pet I s seen, and since in this hospital they attribute many illness to airborne contact; the waiting room where all t he sick pets come in, breathe, drool and slobber in not cleaned very often. So according to the hospital staff the waiting room is a perfect place to pass airborne microbes... I do not mind paying for service, but when service is lacking, I speak my piece. This hospital was excellent when it opened, and now there is plenty of staff, with three receptionists at the front desk, and many different techs, but the service actual service has deteriorated. So when my pets go there and leave with an airborne condition, and they want pet owners to vaccinate for everything, including bordatella, when my pets do not get boarded, and I do not let them smell pet feces....When on walks, but now I have to get them vaccinated because should they visit the pet hospital, it is there where they ca contract airborne diseases.... I find that to be wrong. I want other clients of Sunset Pet Hospital and pet owners to know that.

I have been bringing my dogs and cats to sunset grooming and have always been happy with them. Until last Friday I brought my dog Tala to be groomed. When he was brought in he walked in on his own. When I went to pick him up he could hardly walk. He fell on the floor in front of me. They said they couldn't give him a bath in a tub, but on the floor, over a drain. They said he fell a few times and they had to hold him up with a towel. They should have called me when he first fell. Well he couldn't walk or get up when I got him home I called so see what happened. They said he fell a few times. I had to call my vet to come to have him put to sleep because he was in such pain and couldn't move. I don't know what happened while he was there. But I am very disappointed. The groomer did offer to come and help get him my house, but he is a big dog and would have no way for him to go out. They also offered a rx for rymadol. So a $83.00 bath has now cost me at least $1,000 for him to see if he can be saved. My vet said lets try to see what is wrong. His right leg which was fine, is severly injured now. I am hopeful he may recover, but my vet is not too sure. I know my bill will be way over $1,000 dollars. I did bring my 2 cats there this past monday and they were done ok. I was hoping maybe after what happened after my dog they would have given me a break. But that is ok. I have nothing against the vets office, it is just the groomer. A simple phone call to tell me he was falling and i would have come for him. I will not be returning. I hope I don't have to put him down. He wasn't hurt when he walked in now he is unable to get up or walk. Please use caution or ask about how your animal will be handled. Some how my Tala got hurt very bad. I just wish they had been more careful with him.

I wish I could give them a 10 star. My husband and I have been bringing our fur babies to Sunset for at least the past 20 years. Everybody that works there has alway taken such awesome care treating our babies like there own. They listen to us and all our concerns (no matter how crazy we may seem to act being parents) and treat us with respect. They saved one of our dogs life more then once. Yes Brandy was our problem child lol and they absolutly loved her along with Girl, Taz and Hope. When it was time for them to cross the Rainbow bridge the Staff made sure to take care of us too. We will never go anywhere else for Vet care.

We've been taking our animals there for a long time and they do a good job . Friendly & helpful atmosphere.

Sorry Ducks

Amazing sweet staff!

Update, this is not a fake review I have a very real receipt from the services supposedly rendered that I did not receive. I was told my dog was going to die, I was told it was going to be expensive and not worth it because she was going to die. I will have you know that I went to Prairie Animal Hospital and gladly paid over $1000 to keep her alive and she is still alive today. The money was never an issue, I would have paid $5000 to keep her alive. The fact that the owner is claiming this is a false review, not even offering an apology for my experience, and telling everybody else that this didn't happen, basically calling me a liar is totally unacceptable. All I wanted was an apology. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing, I'm going to make sure that everybody knows what a rotten place this is. And, the fact that most of the good reviews are from actual employees that work here is pretty pathetic. Original: worst customer service, disrespectful and callous attitude. I brought my parvo stricken puppy (that she contracted from another dog) charged me for an exam, simply took my Abby's temperature and left me in the exam room for over 20 minutes, didn't weigh her, check her ears, eyes anything. then gave her a parvo test and it came back negative, but was informed that didn't mean anything. they then proceeded to tell me how expensive it would be to make Abby well and that she would most likely die. took my dog to prairie animal hospital and they were so loving towards my Abby it brought me to tears. Abby was hospitalized and $1200 later she is alive and better than ever. I can't believe these disgusting people are allowed to care for animals. it makes sense that the reviews are from 2-3 years ago because things have changed.

I took my 16 year old Pomeranian there thinking I'd be saying goodbye and instead they treated her with antibiotics and she's doing incredible!

Sad that other people post bad reviews to try make other businesses look better. The story below is not at all what happened. Sunset animal hospital prides itself on excellent, quality care for your pet. The staff is knowledge caring and treats every pet as part of the family.

I was in shock when they told me my bill was $350 My precious cat had a check up and toenails clipped which they said was no cost (Toenails clipped.)He fell and had a hard time walking. They sent me home with sedation for my cat for 2 days. We are not in a rich area how you charge so much. I appreciate what was done. I had to take him to my vet the next morning because my little baby cat (23 years old) was in so much pain. So my vet gave me prednisone. My cat is is so much better now. My very charged me $45. Just cant believe someone can charge that much. I asked the girl there why so much? She says well we did spend a lot of time on him. I thought wow but $350? and no medication for him pain? God bless them anyway...

Sunset Animal Hospital is a great place!! We followed our doctor here from another practice and was nervous. The transition was smooth, easy and the staff is amazing here. We have several pets and I know the care they get it excellent. Highly recommend them.

I have been going here for about 2 years but recently switched. They seem to have good vets and the costumer service is decent also, but I recently changed because of the cost. I don't mind paying a little extra for good service but $350.00 to get a dog neutered is absurd. I called up 4 vets around the area and they ranged from $120 - $180 for the exact procedure. $350.00 dollars is almsot 3X the cost. I probably don't want to know how much I have wasted in the last 2 years.

They have refused to help me twice in the last year or so. Thet refused to treat my dog because they didn't want anything to spread and denied me today because they were "closed". The receptionist told me to make an appointment to buy some medicine that I needed for my cat immediately. If my kitten dies over night I'm suing.

A great place to overpay for services you’ll never experience ! Dropped over a grand and then they dropped me as a loyal customer !they should have staff retrained appropriately they have rookies working there AND IT SHOWS

I have only been to Sunset twice and before April did not even know it existed. I only went there because all of our dogs are patients of Dr. Brandwajn (Dr. B). I cannot say enough about her caring, knowledgeable, and professional treatment of our dogs. She has saved their lives several times, including 2 who contracted Parvo and one who as a puppy ate something that completely blocked her intestine. We followed Dr. B to Sunset from her previous clinic in El Sobrante. I have found the staff to be friendly and professional. They acknowledge our arrival immediately and assist as soon as possible. The clinic is large and welcoming. The reception area is client friendly (a play area for children helps with the waiting). The treatment rooms are spacious and very clean. Despite the long drive from Pinole we will continue to bring our dogs to Dr. B.

Great first experience! Staff were professional and very kind. My Shepard had pull his staples out of an incision from a prior surgery. They not only sutured him back up, but gave us some creative, cost saving tips to prevent him from doing it again. I will definitely use their services again.

Called for a medicine refill...They never called back (that day or the next two)...I made four or five calls the third day only to be asked to hold immediately...Even when they got back on the phone they turned around and put me on hold again...20 minutes on hold, I decided to just bite the bullet and go in..They made me wait 10 minutes before taking me and then took extensive time in filling an easy refill...They then said I would have to make an appointment for what I feel was NOT necessary...GOOD BY----NEVER, EVER will my dog grace their business...What a shame, the place use to be really decent...

Such amazing people! I took my boy there for an emergency because he was throwing up a little blood. I was panic-stricken when I called but the receptionist was very sweet and calmed me down by telling me they could fit me in immediately. I was so thankful because they were overbooked and I had never been a patient of theirs before. She even directed me on how to get there through my hysterics. Dr. Cohen was amazing, he was very realistic about what could've been causing him to throw up blood, and then walked me through each of my options very thoroughly. He was very reassuring. Luckily my dog passed all of his tests with flying colors and it turned out he probably had just eaten something that had scratched his throat. The whole staff there that night was very supportive and explained all the meds and even wrote down a list of bland meals I could feed him. Needless to say, I was very impressed with this vet, I will be taking my boy here for all our needs from here on out.

When you put Re-Chcek 30 Days $0....And then turn around an charge me $37.45 for a re-check....Which your girl Maribel said was FREE.. NOT a Happy Camper...DO NOT Go to Sunset Animal Clinic...They Lie!!! UPDATE: They are refunding me the money for the recheck. Dr. Cohen also said they are reworking that process, so it is not confusing.....it wasn’t my confusion....their vet tech said the recheck was free....so this is their confusion.

The way this place does business is criminal. quoted me 1200+ dollars for a single tooth extraction that wasn't and still isnt necessary. My buddy's dog had 5 teeth pulled for 800 locally. shady business taking advantage of people's love for their animals. On top of that they overdosed my 8 lb dog when it was booster time, it's always been a 2 session ordeal because it's to much medicine for her body weight. Cracker Jack box vets.

Mark

This business is not interested in helping a pet in distress. Only motivation is greed. They would not spend 60 seconds to help a service dog in distress for a disabled veteran, injured in the middle east without requiring us (both sick from food poisoning) to go out to our car, drive to business, pay an exorbinant fee for an Emergency Room visit. With my disabilities it would have taken more than hour to get there, and all they had to do was look in their medical book of prescriptions to see if Zoltan is a medication dogs can take. I wasn't asking them to authorize treatment, I would do that. Just asking if it is an acceptable treatment option for pets. It would have taken less than 60 seconds to help a beautiful service dog who has spent his life in service of humans. I will never go to a vet whose primary interest is not "to help a pet in distress".

They’re neglect borders on abuse they truly dont know what theyre doing or when theyre doing it. Not one single staff member is on the same page as their own doctor. Theyve over charged me countless times and REFUSE to give me my money back and claim that the over charge is my next ‘credit’ theyre gonna kill an animal with theyre neglect one day thankful i’ll never be coming back so it wont be my fur baby they kill

We were welcomed and shown right into a room to wait to see Dr. B. She's just the absolute best. She saved our pets life and we can't thank you enough.

My dad and I went here yesterday with our cat, Whiskers. They took really good care of him and I couldn't believe my eyes! The price was affordable for grooming and if you need someone to shave or even vaccinate your pet, come here! They are literally the most lit people in CDA! Also it was fast and easy even though we had to wait 6 hours for the procedure, but no big deal. When he came out his kennel he looked like a lion haha. 8/21/17

A little over a year and a half ago my shitzu was attacked by our neighbors dog. I was in a huge state of panic and immediately rushed to the clinic with my dog bleeding and in shock. My dog was immediatey seen and was cared for. The vet was actually called in to come in and perform surgery and did an outstanding job. My dogs lower jaw was broken and her chin completely bit off by the other dog. The vet did an amazing job and was able to save her jaw by wiring it together until it healed back correctly. I have never had anything but a welcoming and positive experience from Sunset Vet. The staff is friendly, professional, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable and I trust all of them with all of my animals. Also, the pricing is extremely affordable and you get way more than what you would from any other clinics. I have had my animals fixed, teeth brushed, groomed, vaccinated, nails clipped, etc and every single time I am beyond pleases with the services. Thank you Sunset Vet for being the best local animal clinic around you guys are the best.

The sunset animal hospital is one of the worst veterinarian clinics in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. They do not care about the welfare of their animals, they only care about a paycheck. You will waste your time and money going to their clinic, please don't put you and your animal in that position.
