Took little 6 month old Biggie (Jack Russell) who unfortunately had a bit of a rash. The staff were pretty much like family members. Such love and care which made Biggie and I feel like home. Very informative and extremely helpful. Complimentary coffee (which tasted awesome by the way) for their customers which helped a lot since I was pretty nervous, worrying about Biggie. Free take home treats as well! I was explained by detail what my fees would be before getting charged. Before anything was done or applied. No surprises here whatsoever. One thing is for sure, hugs by the millions were waiting for Biggie there. Such a great staff and the doctor hit a home run. Explained the conditions and the effects of the medication which were prescribed for Biggie. Updated me every five minutes while I waited. What a wonderful place. We will definitely come back! Great job guys. A definite plus and an awesome addition to the community!

the vets and staff at riverside animal hospital took care of my fur baby, betty for over 15 years. they were always able to fit us into the schedule if an emergency arose,excellent at explaining procedures and conditions and giving realistic options. our doctors were also cognizant of and sensitive to cost when suggesting treatments, which was always appreciated. the doctors at RAH were wonderful helping to manage the last months of my dog's life. their primary concerns were keeping her comfortable and maintaining her quality of life. they counseled me thru the difficult decision to say goodbye to Betty for which i will always be grateful. quite simply, RAH is run by and for people that love animals and realize that they are important members of our families. that makes all the difference.

Riverside took care of our cat for five years, until she passed this past weekend. They were unfailingly kind, compassionate, competent and professional - you can tell that everyone on staff there truly loves animals and knows what they're doing. They always present the widest range of possible services as an option, but have always been up front about what is necessary, what is a good idea, and what might not be worth the price. The morning after our cat died, a member of the staff who had been there when we took her in but was not around when she died called us to offer her condolences. Money can't buy that kind of caring.

The last place I went to was more interested in performing every procedure just to jack up the price, but that's not what happened here. Office staff always gave me good advice. Dr Robin Kramer seemed a bit young at first but she was great with my cat Milo. He was 18 and had a swollen stomach and other bad symptoms and I was prepared to let him go. She did not try to put him through unnecessary ex-rays and diagnostics to get anymore money from me. She just let me know what was best for him. She took him away in her arms for about 10 minutes to put in a catheter, then brought him back to me, so I could say my goodbye's, and then when I was ready, she came in to administer the injection, and he died peacefully in my arms. They are a little more expensive than other places, but I feel that they were fair.

We've been a client of Riverside for our 3 dogs and cat. It's been financially challenging but I have never regretted it. They don't try to "sell" you unnecessary procedures, what they do is present you with options. To that person who had to put their pet down, I'm sorry for your loss but did you ever think that maybe they wanted you to have the options to think about it. It's not like they put a gun to your head. One of our dogs suffers from chronic kidney infections and skin problems and they have always worked with me. Of course I'm always up front about my financial condition so they always give me the pros and cons and I'm a repeat customer. I've tried the ASPCA services and I always feel "shuttled" and as though we're just a number. In comparison they really aren't that much cheaper. I always say, you get what you pay for!

We've been in the neighborhood for more than 12-years and been using Riverside Animal Hospital that entire time. When we first started going there is was specifically to see Dr. Steven Kasanofsky, although there was at least one other vet there. Dr. K was well know and well liked - and we agreed with the referral. Over the years the practice has expanded and even though we don't see Dr. K as often, we've been quite pleased with the other vets that have been added to the practice. Everyone there has been terrific, especially in difficult times. I can't see bringing my dogs anywhere else.

We just got a puppy! This place was amazing. #1 they gave us an appointment for the next day. #2 I was able ti pre-register online. #3 the wait was less than 5 minutes. #4 the vet was very nice. #6 the test results were in the next day (a saturday!) #7 we were able to walk in and pick up a perscription #8 I called to clarify med instructions #9 they called to check up on Cocoa #10 just have to walk in for her shot. While we did get a sick puppy they made the experience alot easier. So happy we chose RAH.

Bad experience ever. I took my 6weeks old kitten to this place,because he got diarrhea . So I walk in the front disk girls start to take a picture and holding him one by one, and taken pictures of him,Act like never seen kitten before.after three ladies done with holding my sick kitten one next one and they said you have fill out a paper,ones I start to fill out ,one lady took my sick kitten to inside that I cannot see him,then I ask where you taking him,she wasn’t listen to me,and I followed her,another front disk lady stopped me that I cannot go inside office, the thing is I don’t know what are you going to do with my kitten without letting me see. So I said I’m leaving, then they bring it back my kitten. Worse place ever.

Dr. K has been our vet for more than 20 years. He and his staff have been unfailingly caring and professional to us and our dogs and cats over the years. We love the fact that Dr. K's experience as an ER vet gives him expertise in making diagnoses as well as the perspective that sometimes the best treatment is a tincture of time--we have never felt that any procedure or treatment was done hastily or unnecessarily. We love Dr. K!!!

I went to the hospital on a Sunday because there was blood in my dogs urine. I arrived at 10am which is the time that they open, just for them to tell me that the doctor will not be in until 12:30pm. I came back and the doctor placed her on a scale and checked her stomach area. He walked out of the examination room and the assistant came in to provide a list of charges that totaled $1000.00. The staff was very unprofessional and I will never go back. I ended up walking out of the door paying $200 for bacterial medication and the emergency fee. The medication did not stop the bleeding and I plan to take her somewhere else. Highway robbery.

Highly Recommend! We travel from Westchester to go to Riverside Animal Hospital because it is well worth the trip. They saved our cat's life in 2005, and he is still alive and well at 17 years old, thanks to their excellent care. I can't say enough good things about Riverside Animal Hospital. Back in 1996 when Riverside Animal Hospital was at a different location, my cat suddenly got very sick. I called; they were just closing for the night. But they stayed open and waited for us to arrive. Once I got there, they took great care of her. I'll never forget their dedication and kindness for that night. Thanks to them, my cat lived a full 19 years. I now have another cat and know that she gets the best care I could ever hope for. Dr. K is the best vet I've ever known, and I value his advice, expertise, and decency. He's a good man and a great doctor.

I'm shocked at one reviewer saying that this practice always walks them through fees, as that's pretty much exclusively the reason I left. I brought my dogs here for a couple years and really liked Dr. K but had issues with (1) how pushy the practice was about vaccines (they recommend getting every single vaccine in the book, even ones my dogs have had severe reactions to in the past that have been proven to not be effective and will just advise to get Benadryl - other vets I've been to don't recommend the same vaccines and certainly wouldn't recommend once they hear a dog has had a reaction) and (2) how judgmental they could be about pet parenting (e.g. I have gotten flak a few times from assistants about taking my dogs to daycare - one of them has SEVERE anxiety issues (I've fostered 30+ dogs and have been around dogs and other animals my entire life and have never seen another dog with such bad problems and going to daycare has drastically improved his mental and physical wellbeing)). Anyway, despite this, we dealt with the annoyances because my one pup with anxiety actually liked Dr. K and was pretty happy with the other vets as well so I didn't want to risk a change. However, almost every time I go to the office there's some surprise fee or charge. I'm NEVER one to skimp on pet care (I have spent hundreds of dollars nursing a guinea pig back to health), but this place is ridiculous and I've never been nickel and dimed anywhere like I have been here. The last time I went in for vaccines alone, which I was clear about when I made the appointment, when I walked in, and when we were in the room, and I ended up being charged for an exam. After I walked out I realized that even for Riverside the bill was extremely high for just two vaccines and some supplements, so I double checked and sure enough I was charged for a consult/exam. When I called to ask about it, assuming it was a mistake, they told me that if you come in within 6 weeks the fee is waived, but otherwise every visit you need to have an exam (which is $60-$90, depending). This is completely absurd considering most healthy adult dogs go to the vet only a couple of times per year. Other than one, every single other practice I have ever been to requires an exam only once per year, and the other one had a policy that if you had an absence of 6 months you had to have a shorter exam before vaccines. On this particular instance, I had just been in to see them 6 weeks and TWO DAYS prior and had been in every single day for a week straight having a wound treated on the dog in question. I missed their extraordinarily arbitrary cut off that I wasn't warned about (and that is way below industry standards) by a couple of days and was given no leeway despite spending about $1k in their office the month before and being very explicit that I was just there for the vaccines, which literally any assistant or a pop-up clinic could have done (for $40 total, mind you). If I had been warned about this, or even told at all that if you come in within 6 weeks you don't need an exam, I would have either taken my dog in for the vaccines a few days earlier or just done them while we were in there one of the many times the month beforehand. This place has a couple of friendly assistants that I will be sad to leave, but overall they are just about making money and it's just too much of a hassle and I feel like I'm always fighting off a sales pitch or defending my way of parenting my pets. If you happen to be able to stay at home with your furbabies all day long and want to get every single vaccine known to man, this place will be for you However, if you want autonomy in parenting your pets and want to vaccinate as necessary/healthy, I'd look elsewhere. You can easily find another vet - there's so much competition in NYC and, especially on the UWS, everyone is an animal lover. Don't waste your time here if you want truly good care motivated by love for animals, not money (or just don't want to feel like you're being a bad parent for whatever reason it happens to be that visit).

When my dog Zoe got sick on a Friday, Riverside Animal Hospital North was able to squeeze me in when my original vet didn't have openings until the following Monday. We met with Dr. Cawein, who I can't say enough positive things about. She talked me through all of my options for treatment, was very transparent about costs, and called me every day over the weekend to check in on Zoe. My dog was very well cared for by all members of the Riverside Animal Hospital, and I will definitely be switching to them as my primary vet!

Bless everybody who works here. The follow up from staff is PHENOMENAL. I've never ever had vets, techs, and staff that seemed to care on such a personal level. And that's great, but they also have the competence to back it up- from doctors through administrative, they're all excellent. It was sheer luck somebody recommended this practice when we moved here, and I'm so thankful they did. We've seen Dr. K and Dr. Raclyn and I liked both. We've been scheduled for routine and emergency appointments and had consultations on phone and email. Andrea has helped me immensely through an ongoing health scare with my anxious dog. Can't comment on prices relative to other clinics but they walked me through all the costs every time, down to the price differences for generic vs name brand medication. They said they didn't want any surprises because people don't like that (no kidding!). They also helped me choose my pet insurance. They go above and beyond, and I'm so thankful to all of them.

My dog's doctor did a thorough check and walked me through various options for continued treatment. He took the time to explain each option for me and broke it down for me in terms that I could understand. The worst place ive taken my dog to. They like to add charges on you always saying you have to vaccinate your dog when your dog doesn't need it, last time they cut my dogs nails and they really cut one bad and my dog started to bleed, they didn't tell me anything when k got home thats when i saw it, i called and they apologized but didn't even give me something for my dog pain. Avoid this hell hole.

If you have a sick pet, maybe one that is even dying soon, Riverside Animal Hospital is the people you want to deal with in this process. They have the most caring, understanding, sensitive, and knowledgeable staff. I was blown away at the excellent care and service I received when I found out my beloved cat, Sarabel, had cancer. They ladi out all my options. She died in my arms, just before I had to put her down. This hospital is well set up to deal with the before and after. They gave me her ashes, which bring me comfort to this day.

I have to agree with some of the reviews here that this place is very expensive and try to take more money from you. I brought my cat in for a simple test. Before the test, I talked with the vet for two minutes, nothing important, just the knowledge I already know. But when I check out, I found there are two charges on the bill: $75 for FIV test, and $80 for doctor consultation. They never mentioned that there are going to be two separate charges. I already paid $75 for the test, but the $80 for talking with a vet for two minutes is just unbelievable. I am never going back to this place again. The vet is nice by the way. I just don't really like how the hospital charged me this much, without telling me before I made the appointment.

Consistently professional, attentive, and caring. I've gone in twice on the same day with an emergency and they've been wonderful (didn't even have to wait much). I find them to be really sensitive about all treatments, specifically asking me if I want to pursue options and almost always providing alternatives or even the option to wait and see. I love that the doctors all kneel down on the ground to examine the dog, and only occasionally use the raised metal tables. The technicians are incredibly sweet to the pups and the people at reception are impeccable, calling my old vet to get old records and generally being on top of things.

We have always received outstanding care at Riverside.There are multiple vets and they are open early morning, evenings, and weekends so routine care is always easy to schedule. Most importantly, they will always fit in an emergency appointment. The office is very well organized, the only time you may have to wait is if they are treating an emergency. They always discuss treatment options, give estimates and answer questions. There is always a follow up call and you can always speak to a vet if you have concerns. We have always been treated with kindness at Riverside.
