I have had good and bad veterinarians in the past but Oakhurst Animal Hospital is by far the best care and service I have received. They have a professional and caring staff that surpasses any I have had in the past. Add to it that they deal directly with my dog, Brandy's, health insurance which removes stress during times of need like when she broke her leg and it takes Oakhurst to a whole new level of animal care. The personal attention I feel I get and that I am sure all that go there get as well is fantastic. I will be a loyal patron for all current and future animal care needs to be sure. This past weekend our golden retriever was whelping a litter of much anticipated Golden Pups. She delivered 6 healthy puppies and then a breeders worst nightmare set it...she shut down and we knew there were more puppies inside... we immediately brought her in and Dr. Cambell with the aid of the surgical nurses performed an emergency C section saving the two unborn puppies... AGAIN, we can not be more grateful to Dr Chris Cambell and the entire staff at OVH...

I have never worked with any animal hospital or vet office that comes close to the compassion and extraordinary care that this hospital provides. Dr. Schock & Dr.DiLorenzo are the go-to doctors we prefer to schedule appointments with. They have great sense of humors and are very attentive and observant of any needs or issues that may be going on with your pet. If you have bad new they are very comforting and understanding if you need a few minutes to cry. The front-desk staff are very helpful and pleasant when interacting with their clients. The only drawback is that like most animal hospitals, they don't accept payment plans. Meaning if you can't afford to fully pay for a service at that moment, don't have insurance, and can't put it on Care Credit- you're SOL and will be turned away. I am lucky and was able to swing a CareCredit application- if I couldn't I would have had to put my cat down. However, they do have a special program where a donor will sometimes cover costs of treatment (partial or full). As long as you can also be accepted by the donor. While I was figuring out the situation of what I would do, the doctors, techs, and front-desk staff helped us in every way they could- for almost three hours sorting out different applications. I wouldn't want to bring any of my pets anywhere else.

It's top of the line for your pet's veterninary needs. I called for a second opinoin on my pooch's ears, and they immediately got me in. Dr Thomasey (sp?) answered all questions, extremely gracious, and informative. They even followed up with a call to ask how Tommy was doing with the ear drops. Great place and highly recommend.

This place is WONDERFUL! I have a Mini Lop Rabbit, Thor, who is 10 weeks old. I began to panic when I noticed that his stool was becoming soft. I called over 10 places, locally to try and see if anyone would treat him, on this saturday, and had no luck. On top of it all, I was going to be charged $100-$125, JUST to WALK IN to a vet that would merely make sure he was stable. No one would treat him. In a panic on the phone with a women from Garden State Vet in Tinton Falls, she gave me the phone number for OVH. From the second the women picked up the phone, I felt relief. I explained my situation, and the women on the other end was extreamly compassionate. It was already 3pm, and she was able to make sure they would be able to see Thor that day. When I asked about the fee, She told me that there would be no emegency fee. She was going to put me in as an appointment and with the $25 new patient discount, it would only be $60. I myself was at work, and informed her that my boyfriend would be bringing Thor to their location. Truth is I would have paid anything to make sure he was okay. Upon my boyfriends arrival, I received pictures of the Vet. It was extreamly clean and well kept. My boyfriend even mentioned how nice it was, and how wonderful the staff was from the second he walked in the door. 30minutes until they were going to close up and leave, and not a single huff or puff about it. These people really love what they do. The nurse that weighed him fussed over how cute my bun was. (I know no one needs to know that, it just made me proud.) She was passionate about helping and knowlageable of Thor's condition. When DR. Applegate arrived, my boyfriend swore that we have found our forever vet. not only was the Doctor helpful and compassionate, He walked through everything he was doing and why. Gave him a complete check- up and prvided him with a fluid treatment to re-hydrate our bun. He than provieded us with some amazing take home information and tips that would help us keep this problem from happening in the future. He let us know that Thor was a happy and healthy bunny and that comended us for noticing the change so quickly. We prevented a larger problem. The best thing? The whole ordeal cost me $89 with the liquid treatment! I want to personally thank the staff that worked there today. They did everything they could and helped keep it all at a low cost. I couldn't be happier. I would suggest OVH to anybody!!!!

I will mention the one true and only pro, the facility is well maintained and seems more like a 4 star hotel. Well what does this mean, us the clients pay extra extraordinarily high prices for services. The front desk may have a positive attitude with you as you swipe your card to empty your bank account. The only doctor that truly shows compassion and care in a family way with our dog is Dr. Thomasey. His skills and knowledge is the type that is open to multiple options in treating animal anxiety issues. On our very first visit with my wife and I plus our "son" the puppy love. Dr. Thomasey let's us talk about his showing emotions and together we came to a conclusion of meditation that had seemed to be making a difference. Second visit, Dr. Thomasey listened to my input on changes with should make with our dog and we worked together to find a solution. Now as for Dr. Golodik, it's a Ying and Yang difference between the two. Once cares, while the other only wants to believe he knows all. Why would a Dr. such as Thomasey that is willing and understanding to use medication for a treatment, can never be booked for an appointment. Dr. Golodik? Well anytime you need a vet he is available, as a under educated individual just on psychiatric diseases alone. I think I seen a surfboard on the top of his car, because his personality seems like a 2 star rating surfer from Cali man. Cognitive psychology is the same for humans as it is animal. They share the same brain personality with us, just with different instincts. His suggestion both visits where we had no choice to see him was behavioral treatment. Let me as this. Does therapy help an individual with mental illness, or is there usually a medicine or more involved to help balance the brain cells. Messengers called neurotransmitters that regulate mood 24 hours a day. Behavioral treatment? 1 hours a day. Well let's see, what do we do about the other 23 hours? I'm sorry Dr, but even me lacking a degree I am more educated on psychology then yourself which has attended college level classes. You can't treat a mental illness with just one solution, and one solution only. If this was true, pharmaceutical companies would have to charge a higher prescription cost to cover this wonder of a 100%, no medication treatment. Something seems wrong here. Lastly, to keep things civil, another dog that he meets and greets will help his anxiety. Please do the research before believing that you know everything. Now, for the front desk. They argued with me about Dr. Golodik's solution, while on the same token they continue to provide the prescriptions for our dog? It's literally, all of one or all of another. I don't understand how this is possible? Wait, I know now. It is whatever is convenient at that time to cash in that profit. So, S for the pet store selection? Imagine yourself in a 15x15 cubical where if you simply compare prices to Amazon or even Petsmart or Petco for a comparison you will instantly find that you are being overcharged. Did I mention that the reviews on this products is maybe 3 star quality. Also, double prices for food not made in USA and containing meat solutions and fillers for products. Well, if the dog or cat in this case becomes ill of the low quality products then it's a hospital visit for you. Just another over priced invoice for them to hand you. I hope they understand that with the amount of money we have spent at Oakhurst since December would easily cover a quarter or more of not just a customer service representative, but of a Dr unfortunately such as Golodik. I would not trust this place as multiple times we had asked for his nails to be cut and upon return it was either not done, they would only cut a few, or his nail would become red from being to short. Do you walk into fast food restaurants to find employees by offering higher pay with less work and benefits? Actually I believe that also those employees are over qualified. If you can use a pc with basic skills at a slow pace with typos, all you need to master next is print, swipe, receipt and done.

Rosie got a case of the pestering fleas that I could not get rid of through baths, treatments, brushing, and so on. I was expecting the vet to say I had to bring her in (Ro hasn't been to the vet in quite awhile), but instead ordered us a Capstar pill that should begin working after 30 minutes as well as 3 flea treatments...all for $50. Very quick response, picked up meds 20 minutes after I called.

I got an appointment with Dr. Campbell by chance earlier this year and all I can say is the angels brought it about. He is an awesome vet. My old cat HATED any vet except Dr. Campbell. When he had to be put to rest a month ago, both Dr. Campbell's heart-felt kindness and thoughtfulness and the staff, gave me the support I truly needed. I have taken all three of my other cats to see him. They are feral rescues and are skittish around strangers but were calm and relaxed with him. I was there today for a yearly and my boy purred!! Oakhurst has been my vet since 2007 and even though it is a bit of a drive from where I am now I will never go anywhere else.

I take my border collie here who is scared of everything, especially of the vet. Every time i took her to a vet she would pee everywhere, but not at this place. Dr. Schock is amazing with your pet and takes her time not to scare them, even if it means she will have to be with you for an extra 10 minutes. This was the first vet that we took our dog to and had read all the goods review, so decided to take her here. We originally took her because she wouldn't walk and was very lethargic. They address the issue of her being lethargic because of limes disease. Over the series of months and years we took our pet to Oakhurst for her limp when she walked and more recently her seizures; our last visit was horrific. They didn't address any of the issue and the vet at the time didn't even look at her record and asked me where I usually take her. After that experience we decided to try out another vet. In that process Oakhurst was very rude and made it very difficult for us to receive her paper work. All I can say is I'm thankful they did such a horrible job because they new vet addressed all the issues we were having over the years with our dog.

I never write reviews, but I needed to do so this time. Recently we moved to the Wall area, and our 13+ year old chocolate lab was suffering from laryngeal paralysis, and she had a seizure/attack. I didnt have a vet in the area yet, and I immediately put the dog in the car and rushed her over to Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital where Dr. Togneri came out to the car and carried Cocoa in. From that moment on, she received the most loving and compassionate care....as did we. Unfortunately, Cocoa did not come home with us, but we were treated with the utmost compassion and our furry baby was loved unconditionally from complete strangers. I am a "veteran" of animal hospitals...some good, some not so good. I came to Oakhurst years' ago with my bird....as it was the only practice that had a "real" bird specialist. I still took my dogs locally, because lets face it...who wants to travel? I got tired of the lack of any real care locally...not to mention under-par facilities...plus I was looking for a safe place to board my dogs. Been to the "special" places around here and was underwhelmed by the cleanliness and lack of a proper staff on the weekends..AWFUL!! A friend recommended Oakhurst.....I took my dogs...had a tour and, I have to say..the place is AWSOME! Getting there is not even a problem...pretty direct. From the vets to the wonderful, especially Carol, people at the front desk, it is a pleasure....yes, a pleasure to visit!

I can not even begin to thank everyone at this office for their kind caring dedication that they showed me and my cat Skipper. I have rescued many animals in my lifetime!! Never have I had a cat quite like Skipper. He is the sweetest most affectionate baby. After bringing him into my home I took him in for a wellness visit to Oakhurst because I had some converns. I found out he was FIV POSITIVE. Dr.K recommend his teeth be extracted as a first step to making him feel better because he was so infected with periodontal disease and in pain. They accommodated me right away got all of his blood work done cardio clearance and in surgery all within 4 days. They kept him overnight and watched him continually while he was recovering! They comforted me everytime I called and checked in ( which was atleast 5 times a day ) when I picked him up they sat me down and reviewed every detail x-ray and took the time to go over all post op instructions. When I got home he was eating right away playing purring and cuddling. Even after almost all of his teeth being removed! I will never go anywhere else! I can't even begin to explain the appreciation I have for the professionalism and care they showed us! Thank you all so much. They truly cared for him like he was their own. The quality of medical care for my dog is excellent. The vets explain everything and are responsive to any questions. The rest of the staff is beyond wonderful. My dog loves going to Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital.

Hi, I took Birdy (my new puppy) in on Saturday on very short notice calling at 4:03pm and you closing at 4:30pm. He had come down with a stomach ailment. You were willing to see Birdy and that gave us both great comfort especially since Sunday you are closed. Btw, He is still taking his medication and he is doing so much better. I was able to get in to see Dr. Leanza. She was extremely patient in explaining to me what could be done to help Birdy in the short term (saline drip, shot for settling stomach) and also explained some other possibilities should he not feel better. Taking the time to explain the options and costs related was very helpful too. Dr. Leanza has also seen my other dog Aiden and she is so kind and her bedside manner is fantastic. The woman at the front desk took to the time time to help me with the Trupanion details and got my policy number and submitted the information for Birdy expediting the process. If there was something that I was not happy with I would certainly let you know in such a constructive forum, but I really I can't think of anything that was not more than adequately geared toward a positive experience for Birdy and myself. Brought my cat in 3 weeks ago due to her being lethargic and stumbling around. Went in for blood work with a copy of her previous blood work from 6 months prior. All they wanted to do, was for me to pay for more tests. Brought her here since it was closer than my normal vet and the reviews were really good. The day after I received the blood work results from here, my normal vet was able to tell me what was wrong with her. I will never bring another pet here ever again. I unfortunately lost my cat due to kidney failure which my original vet was able to tell just from the blood work results. Find a vet that cares more about the pet's health, than running a myriad a tests for the money.

After visiting all the vets in the area when our vet of 20+ years retired, we chose Oakhurst based on their facility, services and people. We have not been disappointed. Is it expensive, yes. But not out of line with other facilities in the area. And the staff at Oakhurst is compassionate and caring, unlike some vets I have visited. As a nurse and former vet tech, I am extremely picky when it comes to the care of my best friends. Doctors Delaney, Wefer and Campbell have been wonderful as have all the other vets. They are always willing to recommend a specialist if they feel the situation warrants it. So much for being money hungry. I can't say enough about the office and kennel staff. My guys love them and actually like to go the vet. I would certainly recommend Oakhurst.

I'm being a loyal customer in that place for years and always had very good experiences. Dr: Campbell is so nice, always goes that extra mile for my cat very compassionate. Two years ago my cat was constipated Dr: Campbell took care of the situation and I got my cat nice and cleaned and the quote was very reasonable . I just went there 11/25/15 with the same issue and had a horrible experience first with Lori front desk. Told me several times please make sure u sign your paper work and comeback before 5pm to pick up Romeo because we close at 5pm . She was rude no compassion def she is there for a paycheck. I was having a crisis at that moment, her attitude did me the wrong way. And Dr Thomasey didn't solve the problem my cat was still constipated called me after the holiday and told me he was gonna call me back to give me more options on the food he never did and probably didn't care either. And on top of that my cat was returned to me dirty and full of stool. I don't think they had the courtesy to even wash him up after a long day of work I had to do it myself. And charged me some serious money and then he overcharge me for some meds but they never put it back on my credit card either. I feel so disappointed as a customer . I felt rush that day I know it was a day before a holiday but customers always come first.

This has been the office I've taken my dog to for 7 years. Every Dr I have seen has been caring, kind, and knowledgeable. Reading some negative comments on here disgust me. Im not sure why someone thinks attacking a doctor's appearance and judging his knowledge on pets because he might surf on days off is a normal and okay thing to do. Guess only "under educated" people do things like that. My dog has seen Dr G. A few times recently and he has been great! He knows what he is talking about, gives great advice, is friendly, and is wonderful with animals. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The building itself is always clean and I love coming here.

expensive and money hungry. Went to them for almost a year. They show they care about your dog but don't tell you if your dog has cancer. They'd prefer to tell you about surgeries to remove benign tumors/growths but when you tell them you'll hold off on surgery they don't tell you how bad it is or that it's cancerous. Went to another vet finally and on the first visit they told us right away that the charts we received from Oakhurst basically had cancer written all over it. Money sucking vets.

I have used Oakhurst in the past and have always been happy. However, recently I've been bringing my 2 dogs here and 1 has had reoccurring issues regularly. The other has had a major issue requiring major surgery (requiring a specialist). I have to say that the many years we've been coming here everyone has always been extremely courteous and caring. We've primarily seen Dr. Leanza and Dr. Thomasey as of lately and they have both been outstanding. I can't say enough for their "bedside manner" as well as their knowledge. They've gonna above and beyond to help my dogs. Everyone I've encountered here, from the front desk, pharmacy, techs and vets have always been so polite and helpful. The staff here is top notch.

I'm fairly certain Dr. Schock saved my cat's life and I am thankful every single day. We came in for an emergency visit because my cat had labored breathing and had been having "episodes" leading up to this visit. Long story short, after a few tests, Dr. Schock determined that my cat had high blood pressure, put him on meds, and he has been back to his normal bratty lovey cat self ever since! I also had an emergency visit with my dog and Dr. Deering took incredible care of Lilly (my dog) and it was evident that Lilly loved Dr. Derring! I brought my dog in for a cold. She had been sneezing for some time and seemed miserable and stressed. She was noticible uncomfortable in the waiting room and the tech came out to invite us in a room while we waited. Immediately, my dog Cali was given lots of love and attention. The staff put her right at ease. They offered her treats and my dog warmed up throughout her visit. I would like to say thank you to the entire staff for taking extra special care of her when she was feeling ill and now that her medicine has kicked in the sneezing has subsided and she seems back to her happy self. If she could say thank you I’m sure she would too!
