Right now this business has a score of 4.3 stars out of 5 and that score is based on 100 reviews.
As you can see its rating is very high, and it's founded on a high number of reviews, so we can think that the score is quite accurate. If people have bothered to give their score when they are satisfied, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian is included in the category of Emergency veterinarian service.
They're awesome. Welcoming, caring, experts help you when you need it most. So appreciative of their services over the years.
When our beloved 12 year old, 120 LB Black Lab-Tibetan Mastiff had a massive seizure (followed by two more), Dr. Eric Barcha and the entire staff at NPVEC were incredibly responsive and supportive. We couldn't have asked for more compassionate and attentive care of our pet. After four days sedated on phenobarbital to stop the seizures and still unable to walk, he went to doggie heaven in the kindest and gentlest way possible. :-( I am so pleased to see that the clinic is now open 24 hours, because our biggest problem living in Redwood city was the daily transfer from our regular day-time vet to the NPVEC where he spent the nights. I would definitely use and recommend NPVEC for your pets.
I have taken my pets to North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic since 2010. They are so wonderful and I am thankful they are available. They gave the best service. My one kitty was very sick and needed treatment for her kidneys. They walked me through the steps to take care of her as part of her home care routine. They were so kind and loving to her. My other kitty suffered from an infection on his ear. Again we received the best medical support along with kind and gentle support all the way through. Their prices are so reasonable. I couldn't be more happy!
Quick and good emergency service! We went there at midnight because our dog had chocolate! The lady at front desk was super nice, took our dog inside and then we started paperwork! They also well informed us about the procedures and the conditions of our dog!
Superb care with an excellent staff. We've been there a number of times over the years with a variety of animals and it keeps getting better. The compassion is exemplary.
My husband and I have been to the North Peninsula Vet. Emergency Clinic MANY times over the years for our cats. Our animals have ALWAYS received fantastic competent, and thoughtful care. I have always been amazed at how they are very careful not to do things that don't NEED to be done. They give a plan of care and say, "let's start with this... if we find we need to do more, we can do that in a day or two" etc... They have been the most reasonable vets. price wise also--I've preferred them over many vet practices because they sincerely care about the animals and don't want to rip off the owners. They ARE FANTASTIC in everyday!!! I have perfect confidence in them!!!
My terrier poodle mix got pancreatitis after snacking on a marrow bone and was very very sick. They took care of her at the North Peninsula Vet Clinic with, and even though it was touch and go that night she made a full recovery. They also filled out all the paperwork for my pet insurance for me and faxed it over. I didn't have to make any effort at all. They were really great.
I was out of the country when my dog got seriously injured. Her sitter took her to the clinic at midnight and was immediately treated well, but the best part of the experience was that I was able to call the clinic at 2am from another country, reach the Dr, and speak with him at length about my dog's condition. Not to mention the staff took extensive pics of the injury, emailed them to me, and also sent a disc w/ the pics to her usual vet so the injury could be seen first hand. What awesome service!! They proceeded to treat her perfectly and she has healed 100%! Thanks for taking such good care of my girl!
I have been there several times with other pets. They have always been nothing but professional and caring. I recently took my puppy there for an ear infection. They were very professional and took time explaining to me my options. Also I received some excellent information on behavior training. Very pleased with the visit.
Our cat was attacked by a bobcat and not expected to fully recover, and possibly not even walk. Yet thanks to the expert and compassionate care from the good folks at North Peninsula, she not only recovered from her wounds but recovered full range of motion in her neck and legs, and you'd never know she'd been injured. We are very grateful for the detail-oriented, caring staff and the care they gave our sweet girl.
I went today and they didn't check my cat. They told me just to take an appointment with his primary vet and if he was not concsius take him again. At the end I went to SAGE where they take care of my cat. He has an infected injury and he needed immediate antibiotics. I am glad I don't wait until he was not concsius!
They saved the life of my 10 week old kitten. Enough said.
This is not a vet. This is an emergency room! You should be prepared to wait for as long as it takes if your animal is not in distress and/or there are other animals being treated that are in worse shape than yours. I took my pooch here after she received a very nasty gash. Got her to the hospital around 9 PM, and had to wait 20-30 minutes to see a vet who apologized for keeping me waiting as another dog arrived earlier who was hit by a car. He took a look my dog’s wound, suggested a course of treatment and told me he would call me at home once she had been fixed up. When I arrived at 2 AM to pick her up, they staff quickly processed me and we were on our way. Unfortunately, my girl has a lot of energy and pulled her stitches out a few days later and I returned. This time, I had to wait for 1 1/2 hours to get them to see her as again, there were two animals in respiratory distress and therefore a higher priority than my girl. They apologized again and fixed her up. During both visits, the staff was polite, caring and professional. Both my dog and I hope to never go back: But it's nice to know they're there if we need them!
Very professional and caring group of people. I've taken my dog there several times (usually in an urgent situation) and they are upfront about costs and provide excellent service.
Always made welcome and my animals well cared for.
Any time I need a last minute check - allergic reactions, insect bites, etc. The clinic staff were very calm on the phone. They heir on the side of having the dog come in versus trying home remedies. When there, they take him right away and usually offer the right services for my bully to feel better. I'm extremely appreciative and I trust them greatly. Thanks!
Well, they’ve ripped us off during our dog’s life and they’ve ripped us off in his death. They said it would $100 over the phone to put him down and surprised us with a $400 bill after it was done. Who schedules having their dog put down weeks in advance? This is disappointing and I won’t be returning with future pets.
You're careful monitoring and careful handling of my sisters Yorkie, treating for had to head trauma given her the utmost Care any mother would want
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The wait was long-ish but they were super busy and they take their time with each pet.
My dog has a death wish and manages to attempt suicide about once every few years. This last time, she managed to open a bottle of vitamin D (that had been helpfully pushed into the floor by the cat) and ingest about 2/3 of the bottle. The staff were very helpful and caring. I didn't feel that I was being taken advantage of. Thank you (again) for taking care of my crazy dog.
My cocker spaniel Lucy was bleeding from the nose and I came to the clinic at 5 AM. They fixed Lucy up and eased my nerves greatly. Just a wonderful staff, could not ask for better. Thank You North Peninsula Vet Clinic.
Saved my pet when he got a really bad tail wound and was bleeding a lot. Thank you! We can be with Buttercup for many more years!
They took great care of Emmy dog after her major surgery. She was a little stressed out, so they moved her to the kennel where the staff sat and treated her like their own. They were available at all hours of the night for advice once I brought her home. I would definitely recommend NPVEC -- as a matter of fact, I sent a neighbor there last week!
We have used them for after hours emergencies - both for telephone consults and a walk in diagnosis - and they were just lovely. I have them on speed dial for my fur baby and would recommend them to anyone.
The veterinarians are very skilled and knowledgeable. They saved my German Shepherd puppies life when she had her Addison's crises. They quickly diagnosed her rare condition and nursed her back to health. I highly recommend this vet hospital.
Friendly competent
Our dog was hit by a speeding car. Fortunately she's survived, and can be with us for years. From the first moment we contacted North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic, thru surgery and her discharge days later, we could tell our girl was in good hands. Doctors and staff were so thorough and professional, understanding and sensitive. We were kept completely up to date, with every step well explained. The communication among staff members involved was excellent! We were given options on surgery, corresponding pricing and heartfelt recommendations. It was comforting to be in an environment where employees obviously love their work and enjoy their co-workers. Thank you North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic for making such a difficult time more bearable.
Dr. Barchas gave my cat Sebastian a very thorough examination, with a very disturbing finding: a mass in his abdomen. Sebastian had been given a clean bill of health by my vet only 6 weeks earlier, so I was skeptical when Dr. Barchas expressed how serious he thought it was. My vet saw Sebastian a few days later and also detected the mass. Tests showed that it was likely a lymphoma. I brought Sebastian home and his health seemed back to normal, with a healthy appetite. Then on Saturday morning, two weeks after he was seen by Dr. Barchas, I woke up to find Sebastian in great distress and near death--he died in my arms just five minutes later. I am grateful to North Peninsula Emergency Clinic for being open on weekends and to Dr. Barchas for his very thorough and professional treatment of my sweet, 14-year-old companion.
All staff were friendly, explanatory and patient.
My cat died on the next day I picked him up from the clinic upon the treatment and surgery. I asked Dr Wolf if my kitty would be Okay staying home during the day by himself and if he needs any extra care. He said yes he would be fine and just keep him inside a small room. The next day after I got home from work I found him passed away. That was the most horrible moment ever in my life which I’ll remember forever. I cannot help myself from blaming the doctor and just feel nothing but deep sorrow and hopelessness. I was told he got on vacation that day when we rushed to the clinic hugging my cat’s body. I couldn’t get any reason or explanation from anyone. We were not at all prepared for this tragedy as the nurse and doctor were so optimistic about my kitty’s condition. We paid almost $4000 to make my cat extremely painful, suffer from all the treatment and eventually left the world alone... Sorry I cannot give more than 2 stars and these are only credit to the clinic’s extended working hour and those thorough updates during hospitalization. You might think there might be other possible reasons, and don’t be too arbitrary towards it. I’d say yes the tragedy is not all because of the clinic and they did help. No matter what happened before, I followed exactly what they told me to take care of my cat in the last 24hr of his life. It was not “not working” condition but “end of life” tragedy. No matter what, I cannot accept this fact. What I want to express is they are not as trustworthy and professional as you think. You can take your babies here but always be alert and suspicious about their confidence and judgement. I will never come here again even though it’s super close to where I live.
Thankfully with my naughty kitties, I haven't had to make too many trips here, but the times we did the staff were great. When my kitty Stimpy was acting reclusive and lethargic, walking funny and growling the night before Christmas Eve, we brought him over and they were able to figure it out right away- an infected anal gland. After an overnight stay, a flushing and the cone of shame, he was well on his way to recovery. The second time I came in after midnight when a puppy I was fostering got a laceration on her ear that would not stop bleeding. They managed to clean her up and get her patched up, despite being a wriggle worm. They were great. Thanks!
While the doctors and staff here are very responsive, they are not cheap. They make you sign a ridiculous estimate that explains how the costs might range from $500 to $2000 dollars (as if the low end is even a possibility). And the estimates are way off. When we brought our puppy in with severe food poisoning, they estimated a single x-ray and possible ultrasound with $300 of meds to make him comfortable and rule out a blockage. After 3 X-rays and almost $500 of meds while I was sleeping, they still needed to order the ultrasound. Where was that in the estimate? We got our dog back safely, and that's the important part, but it felt like a total nickel and dime job. Why not just tell me you're going to make me spend $600 on X-rays and then still probably need the ultrasound instead of making it seem like the $500 ultrasound is the expensive option? Why order the $30 giardia snap test when we told you he recently had giardia and the test would come back false positive? Why does it cost $70 to get blood pressure taken? These are questions that couldn't be answered. And since the bill had to be paid in full to take the pup home they are questions that are now long forgotten by the doctors and staff at this clinic. Edit: While they got the job done, I question their decision making after reading all doctors notes and reports. Even the radiologist reviewing the second X-ray suggested an ultrasound instead of a third X-ray, but they ordered a third X-ray anyways. Not sure how that happens other than to rack up another couple of hundred dollars on the bill. Perhaps this was my fault for putting where I work on the admission documents. They must see nothing but dollar signs after that.
We can't say enough good about the North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic. We took a very sick puppy in one night and the next day we took were able to take a nearly well puppy home. The young lady at the reception desk and the doctor who treated Randy are to be commended for a great job that they did and we are, forever grateful.to them and the rest of the staff who were so caring!
I was in the Bay Area with both my kitties in the process of moving to Nevada. My baby boy Eddie wasn't doing so well he was crying in pain and I knew it was his time and he needed to be put out of his misery it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make but hearing him cry and pain was killing me. I called and they told me to go ahead and bring him in. It was one of the hardest things I had to do but with my mom by my side. The best part was three maybe four weeks later moved into my new place in Nevada and with my remaining kitty cat I received the package from them with a paw print in a heart with Eddie's name written on it and it brought me to tears it was so amazing and so wonderful to receive this from them they are a very dedicated Veterinarian Hospital and I would recommend them to anybody any day. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME A PIECE OF MY BABY BOY
NPVEC is awesome! Everyone was wonderful and professional from the person who answered our first inquiring phone call to the receptionist, the technician and the doctor. We took our sick 16 year old Jack Russell mix dog on a Saturday night during a holiday weekend and we felt so lucky to have found this clinic. Not only do they care about each patient and their families but they provide a complete written summary for you to take home. Dr. Barchas took his time to do the examination and to explain to us every detail about diagnosis and treatment options. He is exceptional doctor with a kind bedside manner. This clinic is deserves 10 stars out of 5!
Dedicated to pets
We've taken 2 dogs here during separate bad circumstances. The staff was warm and comforting during the hard times. They are professional and compassionate. They even sent us a condolences card! If we ever need emergency pet services again we will definitely come back. We love you guys!
Excellent service, professional staff and reasonable price. The receptionist told me on the phone how long it would be, and the veterinarian was very helpful in explaining the situation and the options. The location is not so easy to find, but map apps make it OK.
Great vets! Love the care they give to our service dog. Always there to help us.
I have had my pet at the emergency room many times. Unfortunately she is no longer with us, but when she was alive and we needed the emergency room, we could not expect a better service. Doctor are fantastic, the nurses , all personnel are wonderful. Thank you for all your service, I would always recommend this particular emergency room to a, ailing pet.
Money, Money, Money!!! Definitely not recommend to no one to use their hospital services. Me and my wife been there with our dog and all what they was care about is to write me an estimate instead checking my dog who was in pain. They taking advantage of people who having an emergency situation with their animal instead given a good service. I don’t care about the cost as soon as my dog will fill better but they are just trying to do 1000 test that not really necessary to make the bill higher. For there more they mixed him two different medicine that doing the opposite way and made him to feel much more worse then when I bring him in. Something that I realized after spoken with other veterinarian. When we called them after two days to explain them that he still not feel good and even worse they told me to come do X-ray and charge me 350$ and send me home to whit for the results. When the results came I get a phone calls saying that don’t see a foreign body in the stomach it’s may be a tumor but don’t come back here any more we don’t what to take care of your dog. I never expected to tho behavior especially not when I’m so frustrated trying to help my dog. Those veterinarian definitely do not need have a license to practice as a veterinarian and I will report on them to the state. What they did to my dog cause him a severe infraction and suffering it’s the worst experience I ever had. Do your self a favor and don’t come near this place ever if you care about your animal.
We brought in our Lab Molly who had been in a tussle with our other dog. Molly had deep lacerations on her foreleg and lots of smaller wounds. Molly was evaluated in a professional manner, and costs for care were thoroughly discussed. The staff were terrific ~ swift service, compassionate and competent care. We needed to leave Molly overnight. When we picked her up, and brought her back for follow up and evaluation, we met the same great care. I will be coming back should we need night/weekend care for our pets!
They were fantastic, friendly, and helpful. Cat got sick on New Years Eve and they were still able to see her and get her all fixed up quickly.
Great doctors and staff who took excellent care of my pit mix at the end of her considerable life. Gentle and understanding, these folks are great. The only misstep was from the bookkeeper(?) person who came in while my dog was being euthanized, to have financial papers signed. Not the doctors fault—but it shouldn't have happened.
When my bulldog had surgery at our local vet, upon discharge he suffered a slight complication that the Vet suggested should be cared for by an ER clinic. We arranged for my bulldog to be transferred to North Peninsula Veterinary ER Clinic to be monitored throughout the night. I arrived at 6pm to drop him off. The staff was amazing and eased my concerns about leaving my bulldog overnight after such a surgery. As soon as I walked in they took my dog to the back to begin monitoring and fluids while I waited to meet with the veterinarian. The head vet on staff that night met with me after having monitored my dog for a bit and was very honest with what to expect both good and bad. I appreciated the honesty and it made me feel comfortable as I drove home to leave him there for the night. They phoned me early in the morning to inform me he was doing better and I could pick him up. I was very happy with the overall customer service and expertise at NPVEC. I would highly recommend them for your future ER pet needs.
I have been using the NPVEC since the late 70's - almost as long as they have been in business. In the last 20 years, I have used them often enough that I almost consider them my second veterinary clinic. They are definitely my first preference for almost all emergencies. I have gone to another after-hours location when time was a critical factor (completely blocked, and I did not know for how long), and later that week when I knew he would need surgery - but otherwise, they are where I go. 9 years ago I had a cat that was dying on a Sunday - and I know that they can have a lot of unhappy dogs in the waiting area, so I was hoping I could wait until my vet was open. It became obvious that I needed to act sooner, so I called them and told them I would wait in the car for a room - they made a room available immediately so all I needed to do was walk quickly through to the room. They also told me I could take as long as I wanted before they came to let him go - but having been watching him all day, I told them I wanted to do it quickly - and then they let me stay with him after. The surprise was coming home later in the week to a clay paw-print with Akela's name. They have always been able to take a critical case to an emergency treatment before requiring paperwork - putting the welfare of the cat first. I am very glad that they are 24/7 now, so I don't need to stop treatment to transport a cat who is not stable yet. And when I found another cat had died while I was gone for the day, they were willing to do an x-ray to ensure that he had not met with foul play (inside cat but a cage with outside access). And once again, they sent him to Bubbling Wells for me, and I have his paw-print and name also. For all emergencies, they are simply the best available for my cats.
After our Lexie dog got into the garbage it was off to the North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic for x-rays! Fortunately, Lexie was fine! The staff and Veterinarians at this Clinic are excellent and really care for you and your pet. I highly recommend this clinic and I will continue to take my animals to them should another emergency arise.
Took our Labrador Retriever in for emergency treatment of his severe shoulder pain today. After 5 hours of waiting he had still not been seen. We opted to take him out of the facility and drove him to Sage where he was seen promptly. Would not recommend this facility
My husband's hunting dog was shot while hunting at a club in the North Bay. He called me saying he was bringing him home and to call our vet. Our vet was in surgery so our daughter call the North Peninsula Vet Emergency Clinic. They were ready for him and provided excellent round the clock care to Rooster. They both called us and took our numerous worried phone calls. They were not sure if the bbs were in his heart and bowel, they were all the way down his left side. The doctor had experience with hunting dogs who have been shot like Rooster. Rooster was able to come home in three days and after one month is back to his favorite thing..hunting. Thank you so much for your care and kindness.
What can I say. Great people. Competent. Caring. Able to deal with complex, difficult illness. Very simply, the best and then some.
Lucky to have this place available for our little family members. Have been there several times and they have always taken care of us.
Terrific receptionist staff and vets. Vet techs have questionable skills. Not recommended.
I trust only the best with my four-legged child and I trust North Peninsula Vet Clinic 100%!
I have been here numerous times for emergency issues from my dogs slipped disc in his neck, to fox tail's getting stuck in either his nose or mouth - North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency has always been fabulous from start to finish. The staff is friendly as well as all the doctors :) Don't ever hesitate to bring your pet here. Lastly anything Veterinary related is expensive but I am so happy that my Pet Insurance has covered most of my vet bills. I could never put a price on my pet(s).
I have been taking our golden retrievers to this clinic for over 20 years and have always received excellent care. The veterinarians are sharp, experienced, kind and understanding. My goldens have gotten wonderful emergency care that always seems to occur on weekends and holidays! This past experience we were not pleased with a new receptionist who asked us to put down a deposit that was WAY over what we had been quoted with items not even discussed (like surgery). We were reimbursed at the end for over half of what we originally put down, but the experience was disheartening.
Wonderfully compassionate and competent care professionals to my beloved cats during times of distress. In particular when Boris was suffering from a car accident the team was very quick to relieve his suffering. They cared for me, too, during the ordeal. I highly recommend this gem for urgent animal care.
We took our 7 year old kitty, Lily, to North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic on a Saturday morning and she was diagnosed with kidney failure...not good. She was given an IV and medication but remained very sick. We had plans to go out of town the next week and the hospital stayed in contact with us the entire time, sometimes calling twice a day. We picked her up the following Saturday with instructions to give her medication, an IV each day and see her vet, still a very sick kitty. With the care she was given, she made improvement each day and is now back to her frisky, happy, healthy self and only needs one little pill each day. Everyone at North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic was so kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. We truly believe they saved Lily's life and cannot thank them enough!
Dr. Eric Barchas is the consummate profession. Technically he is very knowledgeable and equally important, he is a compassionate communicator. The facility is very clean and has a warm feeling about it. The receptionist that day and the vet assistant were also very understanding and equally caring. Though our family member did not make it, we rest assured that we had brought him to the right place.
Fast, efficient, and caring service. Highly recommended when you're in a jam.
Our dog got attacked by a vicious dog on a Saturday morning. We took him to the Clinic to check out the wounds and see if there were further injuries. A vet saw him promptly. She clearly explained the extent of his injuries and proposed treatment options with a short discussion of each. Our dog's wounds were on the edge of needing stitches so we opted to medicate, leave the wounds open, and observe him closely for a few days. All turned out well. The visit was more expensive than a normal visit to our vet. This is an emergency center with all the attendant fixed costs. We were quite comfortable with the fees charged and are glad that this emergency service is available in our area.
We visited the Emergency clinic with our thirteen year old Saint Bernard. The vet tech who inducted us was excellent, concerned and caring. The vet was unpleasant and basically accused us of not caring for our family member. She was surly and seemed more interested in berating us, than caring for our family member who we have had since he was three months old. He was kept overnight, and the antibiotic she prescribed did not work. We consulted with our Vet and a different antibiotic was prescribed, which did work. We will not go back to this location ever again.
I have benefited from the wonderful team at NPVEC for nearly 20 years an two dogs... both who seemed to find trouble after 5pm or any time between Friday night and Monday morning. Most recently, my curious Aussie sniffed up a big foxtail. Not a pleasant experience for her but the staff at the hospital took great care of her. The prices can sometimes feel a little high, but when your loved pet is so well cared for, I don't mind at all... they are my first go to resource when the mutt is in trouble.
Last New Year's Eve we had an emergency when our dog became very ill, we took him to NPVEC and they looked after him with loving care and outmost profesionalism. They kept us informed of his condition and were very kind and considerate. What started as a very stressful situation had a happy ending when we picked up our dog a day later and he was fully recovered.
This is my dog's second trip to the ER. The staff and facilities took excellent care of us.
This has got to be the best emergency vet clinic in the area. Hands down. Incredibly experienced practitioners. I LOVE the care they provide and I can always count on them. They saved my little Wookie's life. They took such great care of him twice now and I even knew I could count on them when I was fostering a little maltese pup and she had an eye injury. The animal shelter's clinic was closed, but they were fantastic and handled all the billing to the shelter expertly. I really appreciate the update calls from the vets and the people there are amazing, friendly, and very concerned for the well-being of your pet. I have two dogs now including Wookie, and anytime something happens after hours, I know exactly where to take them. I recommend this place to ANYBODY.
They were a lifesaver our first day in CA. We had been on a day-long flight from DC with our cat. We thought all was fine until our cat woke up in pain, scratching his litter box, and obviously in distress. We found NPVEC online, and rushed our cat over. They immediately identified the problem: his colon had backed up from the long flight. We left him, went to breakfast nearby, and by the time we were done, our cat had been treated and was ready to pick up. We were so relieved that he was OK, and no longer in distress. The vet gave us great advice to help us prevent future crises like this. We confirmed her advice with our vet back on the East Coast, who concurred. All around, a great resource if you have a pet emergency. They were pricey, but we realized it was definitely an urgent care situation.
Great vet techs! I brought my cat in for a bladder check. Amy did the routine check, she even showed me signs to watch out for. Thanks for the awesome care ♡
On both of my unfortunate occasions of needing a vet after-hours, I was thankful this hospital was there for me and my dogs. My recent visit was a great experience and I appreciate everything the vet tech/front desk staff did for my dog and my peace of mind. Thank you!
The worst place I ever been!!! They even not worth one star review. Last weekend my dog didn’t feel good he was bleeding from his rectum and got nervous. I was so worried about him and took him immediately to the closest emergency room that I found next to me. They gave me to whit there long time while my dog doesn’t stop to shake saying he is stable. After long whiting they send one of the nurse to see us she just come to tell us that the Vete will come soon. When the Vete come finally she did not even check the dog only check for fever and heartbeat and then said she need to give us an estimate first before she do anything!! My dog was so scared from the situation and all what they care was about MONEY!! I was so surprised about they behavior. I never been in situation like that before but didn’t expected to get such a bed service like that. After 10-15 min she come back with an estimate of 1500$ without even know what my dog having. They only want to take advantage of their customer and make money. They don’t care about your pet at all only money!!! I told them that I can’t pay this amount and them they come back and saddle the prices come to be 250$ instead 1500$. They were able to save me and my specialty for my dog long time without all this games. They took him to the back of the clinic didn’t let me go with him and all what I hear that my dog don’t stop to crying there. After they finish god know what they really did my dog was even worst then when I come there he was Suffered severe pain. I don’t understand who can you treat him without diagnosed what he have. They send me home with two medicine that Whose actions contradict each other. Something I understand after spoke with couple different Vete. I took him hope the medicine will help but it’s just get worse and worse. I was so Frustrated seeing my dog suffering without know who to help him. I called two days after to ask what we need to do and been told to bring him again for X-ray for extra 350$. I come to do it they say from first lock the x-ray lock good but they need to send it to the lab and the results will be in few hours. I left home and after 3 hours they called me saying that they don’t think my dog have foreign body on his stomach but it’s may be a tumor. I started to be in panic ask them what to do next and just been told by this place to not call them again or come again that they don’t want to continue treatment my dog and to go different place without any explanation. First it’s not a way to treat customer, second very not professional. Day after I was so frustrated didn’t know what to do or how to help my poor dog who suffered so much. I didn’t slept all those nights cause he didn’t stop crying. Then I decided to go to his regular Vete at the pet smart even though I didn’t have an appointment. I want there they agreed to see me after I explain them what this place did to me. Finally he got first time something for pain and when the Vete see what meds you gave him she was in shock!! After few tests they realize that my dog having bed infection on his rectum. Probably caused or make it worse by your treatment!!! Bottom line people you can see from my long story what this place caused to me and especially for my poor dog they gave to suffer a lot and all what they want was money!!! Don’t go this place ever!!!! They don’t really care about your pet and very not professional
I have taken my cat to Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic when my cat got sick. They have taken care of my cat so good and the medicine they have given to my cat also took care her existing condition of her allergies. I had a good experience. I would recommend them to everybody.
My dog was critically ill with a liver abscess and sepsis. They saved her with their first class care. Everyone was extremely caring for my dog and considerate of my feelings. Care is expensive but I think reasonable. I did not feel gouged at all. Vet care is just expensive. They made sure I was aware of options and costs so I could make knowledgeable decisions along the way. They called after we were home and on out-patient medication to make sure my CoCo was OK and I didn't have questions. I am very grateful to everyone at this clinic.
It's taking me two months to write this review because I wanted to make sure I'm being fair and not because of my grief about the loss of my dog. On the evening April 8th, 2019, I took my dog back to the emergency clinic - AFTER having been there earlier that morning. My dog wasn't doing well and I took her back late that evening. They put us in the waiting room and we waited and waited... NOBODY came in to check on us and I had to go out ask for a blanket for my dog. Meanwhile, my baby is suffering in pain and totally dehydrated. I was told there was only one doctor on duty and she was trying to save another dog's life. Not to say the other dog's life matters less but really? An emergency clinic that charges $$$$$ for everything and they can't afford to have another assistant to come check on my dog???? Meanwhile, my dog is slowly dying. By the time the doctor was finally done saving the other dog, my dog is almost gone. By this time, they wanted to do more X-ray and more testes at that point? My dog died that morning around 5 a.m. I was in so much grief and pain that I couldn't even think about what she had to endure. Someone could have checked on her and realizing she needed to be on IV Fluid ASAP. But NOBODY, absolutely NOBODY came in to check on her!! After spending nearly $3000, I basically brought my dog to died in that cold table in the waiting room. The doctor wasn't warm. She was no-none sense about it. I suppose she sees dying dogs more often than we know? Two months after my dog's passing, I am still very very angry about this whole experience. With that being said, I must say the most of the staffs were very kind in dealing with my loss. The lady who was on night shift that night made sure we got two paw prints for us. They have very good people working there but I do not approve how they could just have one doctor on staff at night and no one is qualify to put an IV back up to ease an animal's suffering? Not sure when I'll be ready to have a dog again. I will never trust a place that only has one doctor on call at night.
We are so grateful for NPVEC. Our dog was in shock from blood loss, and within minutes of death when we arrived. He spent a week at NPVEC, during which time we met most of the care staff and at least 4 DVMs. The entire staff showed tremendous skill and decision-making during the time of crisis. They set realistic yet compassionate expectations. They followed through with the recovery, keeping us informed and (when appropriate) keeping us involved. And they made sure that our family was well prepared for the at-home stage of the recovery. We realize that not every pet emergency can have a happy ending. But thanks to the team at NPVEC ours did.
STOP! Don't go here. Go next door to SAGE Emergency. Don't make the mistake I made. My cat was in distress and he was only 3 years old. It was midnight and we had to go to this hospital to try to save his life. We got to the door but it was locked. We had to wait for someone to answer. I told the woman that opened the door my cat was gasping for air. She took him but didn't let us in with her. Obviously my husband and I were also distressed. She came out and told us to go I to the waiting room. A few minutes later a non emphatic vet named Dr. Graham came into the room and said " your cat is dying". I said "if he’s dying bring him to me so he can die in my arms". Dr. Graham repeated that he was dying and stood there like a deer in the headlights. I scream to "get him now and let me have him" Dr. Graham took her time going into the other room but another woman came back in with my sweet boy already dead. I asked why they shaved his paw and was told they wanted to put in an IV but he was dying. So instead of giving my boy a shot to be more comfortable they let him GASP FOR AIR! Instead of allowing me to be with him to calm him down they allowed him to be on a cold steel table with strangers watch him die. Not 5 minutes later we were told “the cost will be $210 " and since we didn't have an exam we won't charge you for that part. So cold, no empathy, no consideration and apparently they did NOT follow procedure and let me be with him or even ask me if I wanted to be in with him. Those of you that gave this place 5 stars probably didn't have their pet die or have the vet just watch them suffer. My own vet told me this pace has an awful reputation and I should have gone to Sage but I didn't know. Now I do. I'm dealing with this sudden loss of my 3 year old cat; fine one minute and crying in pain the next. I'm not the only one grieving; his little buddy that he was bonded with is stressed and keep looking for him. It's sad all around. Avoid this place or at least the after hour vet. You need to be treated with consideration, respect and above all kindness.
I was in San Francisco for one year before moving back to LA. I was nervous because my vet was not up here. On both occasions that I had to take my pup and kitty in, they were great and friendly. They did an excellent job making them both feel better....
It was very late at night and it appeared a dog I just adopted was having a seizure. I was so frightened, I call NPVEC and they were there for me. I don't know what I would have done without their help, it was like a light at the end of the tunnel. I took her and one of the team members helped me carry her in, she was all scrunched up and twisted. They knew right away what it was and make her comfortable immediately, they kept her till morning when I could take her to my regular vet. Thank god they were there, the patience, the care and the caring for animals is wonderful. Thank you.
Ok on demand service, but they recommended leaving our dog. When we didn't get called back, we called them. They said he was ready for pickup, but when I showed up 15 minutes later they said 'the doctor still needs to make some notes'. 45 minutes later, I was still waiting, and no new patients had come in. They also didn't have a basic eye drop for dry eyes, so we still need to goto our vet for that. Poor customer service. Just be honest and say our dog isn't ready...until he is, please. I concur with review below, goto Sage. They are amazing!
I've only been here once, but had a pleasant experience. Staff were nice and it was much better priced than both the emergency vet in Redwood City and Los Altos. Got my 8 month old fur baby taken care of. Meow
They gave me conflicting medication with my cat's condition. This created even more complications and created even more vet visits - costs are absurd, I had $3k and you must pay in full in order for your animal to be released. They act quickly, without consent. Authenticity is rare here, I found it hard to connect compassionately with most of the vets. Take your animal somewhere else that will lay loving hands on them.
When I adopted my 13 year old pug from the PHS, he needed surgery to remove a bad eye. After the surgery he spent the night at NPVEC and I picked him up the next day. He was well taken care of and loved. The person at the counter was very helpful and kind. The facility was very clean and orderly. I would recommend these nice people to anyone who wants personal care for their pet.
I noticed late one Sunday on one of our walks that my baby girl Baya was peeing an awful lot and towards the end of the run, she was yelping and spots of blood coming out while she tried to pee. I freakin panicked and called my cousin for help. She told me to contact NP Veterinary Emergency. I called them, told them what was happening and they were so kind. The lady that answered the phone was very calm and told me to bring her right in. Baya ended up having a minor bladder infection and I can't begin to explain how nice, caring, THOROUGH, and informative they were. The front desk, the Dr., everyone. The Dr. had given me all options, and did not try and push unnecessary treatments on me. He was straight forward, and truly cared for my dog. When it came time to pay, I was secretly having a damn heart attack. I got to the front and she told me it was only $xxx.xx. I said "waaaa? For everything?Medication and all?" Heart attack averted She even gave me a couple different options on how to pay, and I walked out of there so happy I could dance. Baya wasn't as happy as I was, but the pain meds they gave her soon had us both cuddled up in bed watching cartoons with my daughter. You always hope you'll never have to bring your fur baby to the emergency vet, but crap happens. I can honestly say, NPVE clinic is somewhere I will always keep in mind, recommend and be thankful to.
It is so nice having someone available when your animal is sick and your regular Vet is either closed or has not appointments available. We have used North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic a few times and they have been wonderful.
I have only great things to say about North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic. They took wonderful and loving care of my husky, Eve. I will never forget their kindness.
The staff and doctors at North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic are fabulous! My pets have received excellent care delivered with care and compassion. I wish I could bring my pets here for all of their veterinary care. I highly recommend North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic.
I can't say enough good things about North Peninsula. The times I've needed their services have been some of the most emotional and difficult times I've gone through and the staff and doctors there have always shown compassion and care for me and my beloved pets. Dr. Barchas is wonderfully caring and patient, as well as extremely knowledgeable and experienced. My partner and I were recently in a position where we had to make the decision no pet owner wants to make, and while we knew in our hearts it was the right one for our precious kitty, Tiny, it was an extremely difficult one for us. Dr. Barchas patiently and clearly consulted with us, giving us his expert opinion, in a way that was matter-of-fact, but also very understanding of what we were going through. I so appreciated his mannerisms in that difficult time and he helped us immeasurably to be able to feel really good about our decision. We were present during the procedure (our first time) and his patient explanations of each step in the process made it a healing experience for all of us. We were able to come away from the experience feeling full of gratitude for our decision to spare Tiny of the end stages of cancer and for the wonderful assistance that the people at NPVE provided. I will most definitely feel good about taking any of my beloved pets to NPVE for care in the future. Thank you!
I brought my cat Ringo in because he developed some acute constipation, and it was Friday and no other clinics could see him until Monday. The receptionist was awesome, the doctors were great. He ended up needing fluids, anesthesia and an enema(s) and an overnight stay, so it wasn't cheap, but I thought their prices were fair. The place is clean and all the staff I encountered were professional and kind. But the best part: Ringo is a large cat, as in, he's too long for a cat carrier and a regular litter box, and he was 24 lbs at the time he went to the clinic, not obese, but he's a big cat. The vet told me to switch him to wet/canned food only - many a vet have suggested he lose a few pounds, but they always tried to sell me pricey prescription cat food. So, he's been wet food only and he's down to under 21 lbs! He has more energy and is jumping like he's a kitten. And has had no further constipation. So I appreciate being given information that was in the best interest of my cat, and not the vet's profits.
The Best. I had never, ever encounter such a Good and Professional Veterinary Clinic. I cant write enough good words about them. Thank You
