REVIEWS OF Moorpark Veterinary Hospital IN California

All of the staff at Moorpark Veterinary Hospital have been so pleasant to work with. We especially feel confident with Dr. Barrett and feel so fortunate to have found a good vet. Their office is very clean and inviting which is not something you can say about all vet offices.

Jamie Mitchell

Started going to Moorpark Vet last year after my vet retired. I've been very happy with Dr. Barrett and all the staff. Aurora, who I had to put down last Sept, and Shelbie are both adored by the staff. Shelbie is having some issues that Dr. Barrett is on top of and I know Shelbie is getting the best care right now.

After 4 hours of intense upselling for more tests, over $300 more than the initial quote, with strong accusatory tones of neglect if I didn’t get the tests, I finally got my cat back. When I returned home it was clear why they kept him in the back while pressuring for more tests. His deterioration was so quick he was unrecognizable. The alert cat that explored the exam room could no longer stand and doesn't know where he is. 36 hours later the cat died in pain and distressed due to this veterinarian.

The staff at Moorpark Vet is knowledgeable and clearly devoted to their patients. I really appreciate how they interact with my dog, keeping him calm and cooperative. They're great with followup on exams and test results.

Everyone in this Vet hospital are so very Friendly and Knowledgeable. They listen, record and really understand what your concerns are. They always give the pet caregivers some options and will let you choose the best plan for you. It is always a pleasure working with the desk personnel. This place is awesome! I've never waited more than 10 minutes when arriving for an appointment. The staff is so friendly and welcoming both in person and on the phone. They always greet me and my dog! And last but not least the doctors are attentive, patient, and really take the time to get to know your pet. Their customer service can't be beat! I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a vet.

Russell loves coming here as he always feels loved and well taken care of!! My husband and I have always had great experiences here and have gotten several family members to start taking their doggies here because of the great care given!!

My 3 year old doggie cut his cheek open at 6:42 pm. Called Moorpark Vet and we were told our doggie could not be seen because they close at 7:00 pm. Seriously???? Also every time when we’ve taken out doggie there for whatever reason they always tell us he needs bloodwork???? Seems like they care more about the money than the well being of the animals. Love to hear if anyone has the same issues. By the way I never leave negative comments but this seriously irritated me.

Thanks Dr. Schwartz and the wonderful staff for making the whole process comfortable during the passing of my pet. Dr.Schwartz, can’t thank you and your staff enough for all the love and compassion that you’ll have shown during our toughest time. Thanks again!!!

Kathy Isett

Friendly staff that are always helpful and care about you, your family and your pets!

I am very impressed with this vet whenever I go there, which is often. I have two golden retrievers. They always make you feel welcome. Dr. Schwartz is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything to you. I have such confidence in him. They are aware of every thing going on regarding animals in the area (i.e. adoption services, shelters, obedience and agility trainers, etc.) I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

I decided to go a long distance to Moorpark Veterinary Hospital. I live in West Hills, but I have been given good reason to trust the care of this Hospital. I recently took in Rosie, my daughter's first kittie, who is quite elderly. Her daddy had to move, urgently and he was afraid she would not survive the trip. We were concerned about her health so I wanted to take her to a place I trusted. The staff could not have been nicer. They welcomed Rosie and have a lovely private, cats' only area, to ensure kittie's are as comfortable as possible. Rosie did awesome. At her last vet's hospital, she had been labeled aggressive, which did not match with what I knew about her. Sure enough, treated gently and going slow, Rosie growled once or twice, but never tried to scratch anyone. Dr. Barrett was awesome. She examined Rosie and seemed very thorough, asking about Rosie's history and how she was doing with her new home. Dr. Barrett made suggestions about food and we will finalize a treatment plan, once the blood tests comes back. Though this wasn't cheap, I would have paid twice over to save a long time family pet, who deserves a good, long and healthy life, one that has given my daughter many years of love and loyalty. Thanks to all of the staff.

attentive caring staff - all dr's are exceptional compassionate and treat each animal as its own - maybe a bit more pricey than some but well worth the wisdom and care received

Everyone is extremely kind and you can tell that they care so much about pets and providing great service. They take the time to explain all services recommended but never make you feel pressured or guilty about your decisions. One of my pets is a cat who is very sweet at home but is very aggressive at the vet. They showed the special cat-only rooms and the different things that may help an evil cat like mine during the visit. I was amazed that they were able to do blood and vaccines on my cat and they have been great with my dogs as well.

Mary Ann Odell

Lori Williams

Wonderful and caring staff. They helped me with so much compassion during the passing of my last pet. I know they'll be wonderful in the caring for my new puppy!

Vee Silcox

Love Dr. Smith!

Karen Ash

Being new to the area, we had to find a new vet for our French Bulldog. We had met Dr. Smith and some of the staff at Bark in the Park and were impressed. It didn’t hurt that Dr. Smith has a Frenchie. The office and exam rooms were spacious and clean, the staff was professional but warm and friendly, and Dr. Smith was thorough with the checkup and took the time to review our dog’s health history and offer suggestions. We were pleased and we’ll be back.

Lester Hathaway

Friendly staff and great vets. Very accommodating hours. Follow up phone calls to ensure pet is doing well is appreciated. Very clean lobby with coffee.

Megan Parriott

I love taking my dog there! GREAT staff!

Michael Rodriguez

Dr. Smith is the best for cats

Doctors & techs were all very positive & kind to my Pit Bull, all while fixing another vets mistake, no drama, no lectures. Actually took the time to make my dog comfortable instead of forcing him to tough out a painful procedure. Can't believe I tolerated a couple of other vets in the area....(hence the lecture/drama comment)

In 2006, my wife and I moved to Camarillo from Marina del Rey. We quickly began looking for a veterinary team to replace the one we were leaving behind. Our girl Delta (the cutest little red pitty ever...just ask them) was/is a huge part of our life. Our criteria was specific: a team atmosphere that is skilled, convenient and thorough. Where we feel like each time we visit, we the owners matter as much as the patient and where the animal is getting just what he/she needs and not simply the latest in fad medicine. After a small but very fruitful search, we were drawn to this group and have never looked back. First impressions are everything. When you walk in you are greeted by a group of the coolest front desk folks ever! Regardless who is up front, a smile and warm welcome is the standard. You are quickly checked in and offered a coffee or, as it seems to be the case...a tempting jar of candy. You are then seen by either Dr. Al Schwartz or Dr. Natalie Barrett. These, ladies and gentlemen, are true professionals! They listen to your concerns, address them quickly, assess your four-legged friend and, depending on the issue, will give you a clear, cogent game plan as to how best manage whatever issue you face. No hidden agendas. No wild pitches for things that may not be necessary. You get the attention you need and everything is straight forward. Suffice to say, this is our home for pet care. I am not done raving though. I happen to be a firefighter/paramedic with a regional fire department. Among my other duties, I am the search canine handler. Riley and I were paired nearly 3 years ago. He is an energetic yellow lab who lives to search. He is trained to look for live, trapped victims following any man-made or natural disaster. When I knew he was coming home, I contacted the team at Moorpark. I asked if they would not only be able to keep my partner in the highest level of readiness and health but a few other details needed to be addressed. Due to his specific skill set, I wanted to make sure they could handle any issue that would arise from that part of his life as well. Without pause, they said they would do so. And they have! This was never more evident than on the morning of March 11 2011. Japan had just endured a catastrophic earthquake and subsequent tsunami. Riley and I were dispatched with the Los Angeles County USAR contingent to Japan to look for survivors. I called Anthony, their practice manager, and told him that I was on a short timeline and I needed his team to come through for us again. I was leaving my station and would be at their door in less than 2 hours. I needed all the requisite paperwork that would allow me to take Riley out of the country and onto an island nation whose quarantine laws are the strictest anywhere. Keep in mind, Anthony had no specific training as to what our needs were: forms, applications, certificates, stamps etc. Suffice to say, when I arrived, he and the team had amassed all the necessary paperwork NOT just for myself and Riley but for another dog and handler with whom I was traveling to the deployment site with. It was in order and up to date. So much so that when we got to the deployment site, their work shed light on a few items that the rest of the canine team also needed. To say that he has an attention to detail would be a gross understatement. While at the hospital, both search dogs got pre-deployment physicals as well as the paperwork that would make our travels seamless. We went to Japan for 9 days. Riley searched tirelessly, a testament to the health care he received half a world away. It was not simply due to the team that we traveled with that our efforts were successful but the team back in southern California who helped make that happen. Thanks to the whole team for being the professionals that you all are! Riley and Delta will always be in your care.

Stan Bern

Quick and thorough service by Dr Al and staff. Friendly atmosphere. I have been a client for over 9 years.

I had to take our beloved Taz to the MVH for cremation today. Even at the ripe age of 16, he unexpectedly passed and the folks at MVH were very compassionate, understanding, and helped me get through a very difficult departure of a family member. Thank you very much for your tenderness during this time.

Lori Raupach

I love both doctors and all the assistants!! Everyone there is so caring and nice to my two pups! This is why I drive out there from Simi Valley instead of finding a more local vet. In my opinion, they are truly the best!!

Erin Rico-Allen

Great facility! Nice and friendly staff and always so flexible with making appointments for our big, lovable Recon. We rescued Recon from the shelter and his past was unknown. He definitely has trust issues and going to the vet is always tough. Moorpark Veterinary Hospital has always been so gentle and understanding towards Recon's anxiety. Highly recommended!

Our family has been using Moorpark Vet for over 25 years, and we wouldn't think of taking our furry family anywhere else.

Bart Witherow

Our little dog sniffed out and ate several ounces of dark chocolate... Long story short, Dr. Schwartz and the staff probably saved her life. Great place, great people; from the front desk to the back...they have Always have done right by our family and pets...

Vicki Gant

Very professional; from front office staff to Vets, you and your pet feel like ‘you matter’.... so happy to have found a community, compassionately friendly clinic for our new 4-legged family member

George Massalas

My wife and I been to many vets with our 2 Bichons throughout the past 14 years ~ some providing "average" service, and most with less than stellar service, who seem to care far more about charging to unnecessary treatments than actually doing what's really in the best interest of our 2 small family members. But, I have to say our experience with Dr. Schwartz and his entire staff was OFF THE CHARTS and pleasantly unexpected. The level of service and care we received was surprisingly thorough and OUTSTANDING IN EVERY WAY. We have never had a Veterinary Doctor take the time to actually explain to us [in simple English] how to best treat the symptoms one of our pets presented, nor has any Veterinary Clinic ever offered to give us a "behind the scenes" tour of our back office. We think their attention to detail regarding our pet's issue was outstanding, and are very happy to offer them 5 STARS!

Cindie Leonardo

My pets (cats & dogs) have been going to Moorpark Veterinary Hospital since the door opened I believe, in 1990. I have complete trust that Dr. Al Schwartz and Dr. Natalie Barrett have my pet's best interest. The staff is great as well. I highly recommend Moorpark Veterinary Hospital for excellent. Thank you Dr. and Staff for taking such good care of us. Lucky is on the mend and we couldn't be happier. Thank you from our hearts.

Maria Burkholder

Dr Barrett is the best. Wait time needs to be worked on.

Lilette Walker Stoeckle

They're awesome; everyone that works there, the facility, and they always have THE best candy! They're always super warm and welcoming and they love my amazing dog, I mean I can't imagine how could you *not* love him, but still, I feel completely confident that my dog's getting the best care possible and being treated the way I would treat him. That's pretty huge. I'd give them 6 stars if I could.

Sean Stark

I first want to say I hate to write this one star review, but I feel it's absolutely necessary. I like to believe most people are professional and have good intentions. My mom and I took our 3 year old cat into this clinic about 5 weeks ago because he had developed a growth on his neck. They couldn't tell us what was wrong with him, or why he had the growth. They recommended a blood analysis and a biopsy of the mass along with a regiment of steroids. We paid for all 3 options. A week later we went back in to get the test results and to figure out next steps. They said they still couldn't determine what the mass was, but they said it might be an infection, so we put him on the vet recommended antibiotics. Again, took the cat back a week later. The vet still was unable to produce any solid answer, but said it could be a tooth infection and presented a potential $600 bill for the dentistry work. At this point I took the cat to get a second opinion in Thousand Oaks. The vet there said our cat's teeth looked normal and healthy. He told us the cat would have needed to go into surgery a week beforehand to remove the growth, and he would have to be put down, which was absolutely heartbreaking to hear that there was no more we could do. This is a little besides the point, but I also found the Moorpark vet front desk to be rude upon my 3rd return to their office. My next door neighbors have also brought their dogs to the Moorpark Vet clinic, and have also found that the vet in Thousand Oaks is much more professional and caring. This was my personal experience and I hope nobody else has to experience the same. Have a good day.

Ruth Richmond

Best vet in Ventura County! I've been taking my four legged family members there for four years. Everyone there is caring, friendly, and knowledgeable. I never feel rushed or that they are just there to make a buck. They are all about the animals and helping families provide those animals with the best care possible.

Christina

The most caring staff and expert Vets i have ever had. They are a part of our family now.

Erin Moreno

Certified Cat-Friendly Practice. Fantastic Vet Technicians. And DVMs who truly care about you and your fur babies.

Joe Barton

Love the service you get here! The folks at the desk are always on it and the Veterinarians are the best.

Brad Thompson

Very good doctors but expensive

I am changing my review. Two years later my dog developed a limp they diagnosed as hip displasia common to her breed. They suggested surgery was the only way to fix this and it would cost four grand. We waited, and she got better on her own....it was only a sprain. When I called and asked if they had done and MRI (one of the few ways to detect displasia) they said "no", just a blood test. You can't detect this condition by a blood test. They tried to scam me...my dog only had a sprain that corrected itself.

Al Schwartz

Great care for pets, and they care about pet parents too!

Craig Robbers

Busy all the time but always have time when you need help.

Gregory

Such great people working here

Rosemary Doman

I have gone to this facility a long, long time. I would not go anyplace else. It's the best veterinary in town and locally. The doctors are excellent and the staff goes beyond the norm. Both my dogs where patients there and also my cats over the years.
