I didn't take my pet to this clinic, but I phoned Dr. Richter when I adopted two cats from a client of his who runs a "holistic" pet rescue in her house and one of them tested positive for FelV and the other developed a (terrible) eye infection and may be incubating the virus. Since he is under 16 weeks, he may die quickly. Dr. Richter said there was nothing he can do about this woman and her practices. He said he is not a vaccine denier but he was not interested in advocating with her to vaccinate. He showed no compassion, no concern for the community of cats. Ever had something you love die from a preventable disease? Preventable. If you do, be prepared for a response like this from people profiting from it.

My Chihuahua had bilateral repair of her luxating patellea and it was recommended that she receive physical therapy afterward. She had an initial assessment with Dr. Mascio, the rehab vet, and then she had several sessions with the physical therapists. Everyone was terrific. They had a plan for the therapy and they worked to gradually increase the strength and flexibility in her legs. She walked in the water treadmill and did other exercises. Everyone was so sweet when working with her. She was totally comfortable being there. At the 8 week mark, she was x-rayed by the surgeon and her knees were perfect! Now she's running all over the place like a mad woman...so...success! Everyone at Holistic Veterinary Care is terrific. The reception staff is is friendly and helpful and even submitted my claims to the insurance company for me! Thank you so much everyone.

My mini poodle was in terrible back pain. I had gone to my regular vet who is outstanding and he gave us some pain meds and told us to wait. We weren’t seeing any improvement and were facing more extreme treatments. At the Holistic Care they did a treatment and gave her some holistic oral treatment. In a week there was an amazing improvement and she was all better soon after. So happy that another happy dog owner recommended we go here! Our pup is fully recovered!

I've only taken my dog to Holistic Vet Care once, but my experience was very good. The staff was welcoming and Dr. Richter seemed informed on holistic and alternative treatments and was very easy to talk to. My dog has a chronic condition that requires ongoing medication and so I wanted to look at all my non-pharma options, and also, optimize his diet. Dr. Richter seems informed on alternative treatments, & also seems non-judgmental and that's exactly what I want in a vet.

My German Shepherd, Kira, shattered her rear leg last year. I was concerned that she would be permanently disabled. After her post-op care at home, I took my dog to Holistic Veterinary Care for 10 weeks of physical therapy, hoping for the best. Dr. Whitlock, and physical therapists, Nicole and Crista offered Kira a variety of treatments that included aqua therapy on a treadmill, balancing on equipment and various muscle strengthening exercises. Their level of professionalism and personal care towards my dog was impressive. Kira has recovered from her broken leg beautifully! No limping or pain. Thank you Holistic Vet Care for your services!

Holistic Veterinary Care is the best! They are all so friendly! My dog Jack, a 5 year old Chocolate Lab, was bitten by a Black Widow in April. At the time I had no Idea and his leg swelled up badly. I rushed him to the emergency vet in concord.It was there they assessed it as a possible Black Widow bite. However, they could not stop the swelling. I was informed that he may not make it or he might loose his leg. After a exploring the options for treat I was referred to Dr. Richter at HVC for Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment. Jack responded very well to the treatment. After just five treatments, the swelling had gone down so much that Dr. Richter was able to find the Abscess pocket and drain it. Jack has since made a complete recovery and is out running, swimming and playing fetch as if nothing happened. Throughout his treatment Liz emailed or called to check on him daily and still checks to see how he's doing every so offten. They truly care and I'm thankful they were there when Jack needed them. I would defiantly go back and if they were closer to my home they would be my regular vet as well.

This is the most expensive vet in town with probably the best holistic veterinarian in Northern California, and yet for all of that, the front desk is a total trainwreck here. First, I get the the vet is renowned and famous and all of that, but the needless markups here are a bit silly. $40 for herbs that cost $29 everywhere else? That's simply excessive. But if the front desk could do their jobs, the markups could be overlooked. But they can't. A few months ago, the very competent young man who steered the front desk was promoted up off the desk. Congrats to him! But pity for the rest of us. Literally since that day, every. single. insurance. claim they submitted has been wrong. I'm talking 3-4 months of weekly or bi-weekly visits just all handled monstrously. They forgot to submit the documents that they promised to most of the time, causing me to call them multiple times to beg them to submit them. Once they finally did, they continually submitted the wrong form for each dog or failed to include the invoice. I was willing to forgive the first few times, but by the 5th and 6th times, it was just getting stupid. Add to that, the office manager never returns emails or phone messages. You have to keep calling until you get her. She will acknowledge having received your message, but never apologizes for never getting back to you. But the clincher is that the office manager twice lied to me about their repeated mistakes with the insurance forms. She blamed the pet insurance company for mixing up the forms for each dog (they have QR codes on them - they can't be mixed up), and she blamed them for losing the invoices attached to the claims when in fact they never attached them before sending them over. This has been my pet insurance company for several years. These issues have never NEVER come up before. But they suddenly are happening regularly at this practice once the front desk lost its star? Yeah, no. I spoke to the pet insurance company. The issue is the front desk staff here. So the lying was the proverbial nail in the coffin for me. I'm not spending 30% more to go here for this level of service. It's a shame. I hope they work it out.

Never been to a place for physical therapy for your pet. The people are highly trained and handle your pet as of it was there own. My dog Buster loved it there,he fell in love with thr trainers,office staff and the doctors. It seemed to be one of his favorite places to go. The physical therapy helped him tremendously.

The staff was nice. My dog didn't like acupuncture. After 3 needles it was clear it wasn't going to work. She did like the cold laser. Dr. Richter suggested we use cannabis, when I said I wasn't comfortable with it because my dog had previously had cannabis poisoning from eating a cookie crumb off the sidewalk, he just gave a really glib response. He also didn't say what the cannabis would be treating.

Goliath, my Akita, had 2 TPLOs and needed to strengthen his rear legs. He absolutely loved the hydrotherapy, walking on the underwater treadmill. He tolerated the exercises and the laser. Everyone at Holistic was very understanding about his needs (not good with other dogs) and made accommodations that fit for him. They also handled his warning signs to back off treatments in the right way. He loved the treats - especially the peanut butter!! Helped to get his focus off of who was doing what to him and allow for treatment to continue and everyone to keep their digits and limbs. As soon as he has his screws and plates removed from his TPLOs, we will be going back for further treatment. It is a very calm and serene place with people who love their jobs and it shows.

After my dog was diagnosed with severe arthritis in his front legs several months ago, our vet referred us to Holistic Veterinary Care to pursue a course of physical therapy. Dr. Richter and his entire staff at HVC are warm, professional and competent, also, the facility is beautiful, state-of-the-art, clean, and relaxing. My dog has been on a hydrotherapy and cold laser regiment which has helped him immensely -he's regained some muscle and flexibility! I never thought my dog would get in the water, let alone swim, but the physical therapists there are so gentle and confidence inspiring, that he got right in and started swimming. I am still shocked! We are very grateful to have such a top-notch PT facility close by. They also have a beautiful retail store front, where you can purchase various holistic remedies, treats, toys and accessories. It's a great place to get gifts for our dog & cat friends.

The entire team at Holistic Veterinary Care is fantastic. My 7 1/2 year old labradoodle has been going here for several months to deal with a hip dysplasia/arthritis issue. He does treadmill water therapy and is monitored closely by his physical therapist Nicole and by Dr. Dana Whitlock. I rely on their support and knowledge and I also love how comfortable my dog is in their offices . Vets offices can sometimes create anxiety, but they've designed their facilities to be welcoming and relaxing. Highly recommend them, as does Moe the doodle.
