Friendly, courtous and patient. Extactly what you need when dealing with your little one.
Dr Palmquist is absolutely charismatic. I wish his practice included people! My pup is given the best health care and I'm grateful to have found my way here. He and his staff are simply loving and kind folk.
Sadly, I join others that leave this facility after DECADES of going there. After 20 years of going to this clinic, despite the poor reviews I read making this claim, I see that my dog’s health was NOT put first and it has been incredibly disappointing to realize this. I had a world of respect for the vet I saw there and awaited a call that would never come. I have zero respect for a vet who would leave a dog’s health at risk and not hand something off to SOMEONE in the building to call or respond or give me information one of the many times I called. Just call back or better yet, communicate what needs to be communicated during one of the 7 or 8 phone calls I made during the week about my dog and impending surgery. I was devastated to find out I had trusted that I would be called back and waited. It broke my heart to find out it wasn’t about the animals anymore...it’s about “smooth” operations and accurate quotes and the animal/human element now takes a backseat. The “operations” manager is likely in place to help the business run smoothly, but it’s supposed to be about the ANIMALS. Animals are very important to their people and you can’t have a vet business without them. IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: If you’re in the “animal business”, you’re in the “people business” too. Knowing how to operate a business and having the most talented vets in the world doesn’t insure success. If you don’t know how to communicate and deal with the pet’s “people”, you won’t have a business for very long. There are dissatisfied people who will speak out on public forums about their disappointment and then there’s the majority of dissatisfied customers who just quietly walk away. Bottom line: it takes a lot of time and energy to earn a new customer and only seconds to lose one.
I love Centinela Animal Hospital and Dr. Palmquist is awesome!
We drive from El Paso, TX to see Dr. Palmquist
I use to change vets every year or so because I never felt like he/she would look for the cause of a problem. Those vets would keep testing for this and that & I would keep paying for expensive tests for nothing. Dr. Palmquest on the other hand is the BEST diagnostician I've ever met. I have several pets and have rescued dozens of animals so I'm there several times a year with a variety of problems. He was NEVER wrong. My animals depend on me to protect them and I will always count on Centinela Animal Hospital to keep them healthy. The physical appearance may lack style and frills but who cares, I want my dollars to go for expert & loving care for my 4 legged kids.
Great place.... They care.
My husband Jonathan and I can't say enough to show our gratitude to Dr. Palmquist for all he's done to help our boxers live a healthy, and stable life!!! He's probably one of the nicest veterinarians who's brilliant in his assessment and determination of what is the issue causing illness in any of our dogs. We currently live with 4 boxers and a Shih Zhu. His staff has always been so helpful, caring, and accommodate all our needs.
They really took care of my Akita that had mange. I've gone to 3 other Veterinary Clinics but that didn't clear my poor babie's mange but they did
Because their entire staff, doctors and support staff, are very loving and caring people...both to animals and people. Would not consider going anywhere else!
The Doctors and staff are great
Chili(our pup) recently had to have surgery. The doctors and staff were knowledgeable, and kind. Every detail was explained to us thoroughly leaving us very comfortable with the proceedure. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for an excellent vet.
Dr. Palmquist is very compassionate and knowledgeable. The staff is absolutely amazing.

A small hospital with a big heart! Dr. Palmquist and Dr. Johnson truly care for their patients and my cats respond well with their care.
Love
Absolutely the best there is. Integrative veterinary practice.
One of the best! Extremely helpful and loving to you pets....Dr. P. is awesome!!!!
great doctor at this facility
Very expensive.....a visit with the doctor and blood work ran us over $1200. Was I sleeping when they did some actual procedures? Doctor is nice..cannot say the same for his staff.
Dr. Palmquist and all the doctors who work at Centinela Hospital are so fine. They are sturdy professionals with deep understanding of holistic medicine. In addition to lab tests, X-Rays and all the advances of modern medicine they offer treatments for sick cats and dogs that are heal, homeopathic and acupuncture. We have had many remarkable healing experiences her under the loving care of these terrifically vets. BTW- their office staff is superb so even if you have to wait on the phone your issues will be addressed efficiently.
Yes, sometimes you have to wait, but I have come to view it as a function of Dr. Palmquist willingness to spend as much time as your pet needs, despite his schedule pressures and the risk of alienating some clients. If you have a really sick pet, that is what you hope for. Dr. Palmquist is the kind of a doctor you wish you could have taking care of you. Utilizing holistic and/or the least toxic course of treatment, he prescribes medications which all have side effects only as a last resort, and not routinely. Having been to many vets, I think he is the BEST!
Personal bien calificado,excelentes veterinarios
Staff was very friendly and although my poor Kitty was not able to be helped by them I would very much recommend going back for all of your pet health needs
Dr Palmquist is beyond great
The negative reviews left here have commented about the wait time and I feel compelled to address that. Yes this place can get very busy but that is because this is the best place in town to take your pet. The doctors here are so compassionate and genuinely care about what is best for your pet's health and pet owners that come here know that. That is why so many people come here for their pets and why it is frequently busy. Perhaps it is that there are just too many clients for so few doctors, but that should be seen as a good thing - so many pet owners wanting to see these amazing exceptional doctors is a testament to their skill and genuine concern for your pet. Also the wait time is a reflection of the doctors and staff's want to help as many pets as possible. The doctors and staff at Centinela Animal Hospital REALLY REALLY do care about pets health, this is not the kind of place that will charge your for a whole slew of unnecessary tests, but rather will do what is best to properly diagnose your pet. And really the wait time is not that bad- sometimes it does get SUPER busy but in no way is it like that all the time. The customers that left reviews where they were waiting for hours or what have you clearly came in here on one of these days, take a look at all the other positive reviews. My dog needed surgery and I'm young, a student and don't make a lot of money and I'm not certain if the type of surgery my dog needed could not be done here or would be more expensive if performed here, but they helped me look for a good surgeon for the best price in light of my financial situation and the imperativeness and urgency of my dog's surgery. I mean who does that! The answer- people who really care about helping animals. The doctors and staff here truly care about my Chloe and is alive today because of their concern and expertise. Thank you Dr. Johnson and Dr. Orme (I hope I didn't spell any names wrong) and all the staff especially the ladies at the front desk. I highly recommend Centinela Animal Hospital!
Muy competentes y eficientes, me agrada llevar a Boston ahi.
Wonderful staff. Truly caring people and well worth the trip, particularly if you are looking for veterinarians that practice complementary veterinary. That is a combination of holistic and allopathic methods. For us it's meant the best care for our pet.
Been going to Centinela Animal hospital for over 20 years. Caring and compassionate staff that does an excellent job taking care of your pets. I do wish the waiting room was bigger.
They saved my cat's life while I sat in waiting area drinking nice hot coffee they offer.
Dr. Palmquist clearly loves the animals he treats and is very knowledgeable
My dog had a fractured neck. The Dr P. Treated her for arthritis. I went back the next day and begged to see the Doctor. They would not even tell her I was there. The front desk would not allow me to see a doctor and told me to leave. Also my bill was $172. 00 I was charged $1720.00 and it took weeks to get my money back. I will never go there again. Really poor service and concern for me and my dog.
Love Dr. P as a doctor, person and boss. I really enjoyed working here in the past and now take my pets here too
Caring, thorough doctors and helpful, friendly staff.
THE best vet clinic in LA. Kind, caring and profound healing with natural and traditional approaches. Don't take your pet anywhere else.
Amazing.. My sisters dog was hit by a car and the staff was amazing we we're very sad and upset. They did there best to make us and our beautiful Sophie comfortable but unfortunately she did not make it due to her injury's. Staff was very warm hearted and was there to comfort us.
Great people
THANK YOU SO MUCH HELP HELP HELP
The best vet in LA. Period.
Dr Palmquist is a very talented doc and fun to boot.
Such a wonderful veterinary office. The vets are kind, extremely experienced and combine natural medicine with modern science. Dr. Orme saved us from having to put our cat under anesthesia to get his terrible wound stitched up and instead skillfully used staples to close it up and instructed us on wound care. It has been such a learning experience and she has been such a blessing. It seems she is lit up from the inside because she is really living her truth helping animals. So grateful. Thank you!
DR PALMQUIST IS THE BEST VET!!
Waited 2 hours with a room full of uncaring receptionists who let others before us. Don't waste your time here because they don't care nor are they professional.
What would you say when you entered the wait room with only one owner/dog ahead of you and you arrived 10 mins early for your appointment. Then while waiting past your appointment time (2:30) a late owner/dog arrives for his 2:15 ( after your expected 2:30 scheduled) and the office staff thinks it's a good idea to allow the late appointment in before you. Of yes, I was seen one hour after my scheduled appointment. No one took responsibility and the front desk ignored my questioning their behavior. The Dr. only wanted to talk about my dog and not about what their front desk is doing...no personal responsibility by the staff or Dr's ! ?
I have been talking my fur babies to see Dr. Palmquist since the 1990s. He treats the whole patient and thinks outside the box. Dr. P also cares about the fur baby's humans too. He is my brother in the Lord. I highly recommend all if the vets at this hospital. The support staff is awesome too.
They are super friendly and they really care about your pets.I will be taking my dog back when she needs to visit again.

This is the home of one of the best vets around - Dr. Richard Palmquist. It is worth the wait to see the staff here - Dr Palmquist has a special way with animals and a holistic approach to medicine and we would not think of taking our cats and dog to any other vet in Los Angeles. While reading a book by Cesar Milan, he mentioned taking his dogs to Dr Palmquist -- Mr. Milan has since moved away from this neighborhood and goes to other celebrity vets, but that leaves more of Dr Palmquist's time for the community! The place can be very busy, and I imagine that it could be organized a bit more efficiently, but the staff is always extremely helpful and diligent and they don't over-prescribe medicine like other vets in town. I have a friend who's dog got cancer treatment here, and the work of CAH absolutely extended her life. And we have a 21 year old cat that receives her care from the folks at Centinela Animal Hospital and she is doing very well for her age.
Now y'all know you're not supposed to take Mary's keto the house now what you're putting it in the hospital for you guys get on your best behavior now Emma Ryan Amber know that. That's very well can you be very nice and don't you hit that cat okay
No service
THIS is the most compassionate, knowledgeable group of people I have encountered working with animals. Not only do they know and share with clarity their comprehensive information in the more traditional veterinary language, but they incorporate alternate methods (that they will also explain) that kept my dog alive for eight years beyond his life expectancy once diagnosed with a terminal illness. Additionally, Dr. Palmquist and his kind team were there for me when it was time to let Bo-Diddly go and transition. Thank you for helping me with my cat also who has some dental challenges. And now my new dog, who through nutrition and supplements has dealt with an anxiety disorder. I highly recommend them. Make an appointment is best, as this is a busy clinic and the waiting room is on the smaller size and can be challenging.
