I've never boarded my dog before. Mind you, my dog is not small or demur. He's a Catahoula Pit; very cute, puppy mentality. Cabrillo was all about we take them on walks and play time; dogs like this aren't a problem (very little training). He'll be fine. They took his blanket and treats, met him before taking him in the back. They called to let me know he was doing okay. We came to get him and he was happy. Everything we brought was returned. Cabrillo Pet Hospital is outstanding! The ONLY AAHA-rated hospital in Point Loma/Ocean Beach. They take wonderful care of our fur-babies, and they take care of us too. They have our complete confidence, and we won't take Dempsey and Lal anywhere else. The Pet Care Center is perfect and our kids are boarded there when they can't go with Mom and Dad...we sleep very well at night knowing where they are. Great people taking care of the doggies.

When I brought my dog in to have a wart removed from his lip, they went ahead and did multiple other procedures without contacting me for authorization. Needless to say I ended up spending an almost $200 extra. They said it was because older dogs need to be checked for these things. My dog had gray hairs on his muzzle, but he was only 3. I look back and kick myself for not complaining. There are better vets in the area, just ask around.

My adopted terrier has a few behavioral issues and can be a real handful! Everyone at Cabrillo manages him so very well. I trust his healthcare and his playtime to the professional staff 100%! He loves coming to camp and playing with his buddies (and stealing treats off the counter). If your pet is part of your family, I recommend Cabrillo for the excellent medical, boarding, and shopping facilities.

I followed my veterinarian, Dr. Cammarata, to this hospital, and was very very happy he made the switch. While I was just going down the road, the facilities here are much nicer, the staff much friendlier and more helpful, and all in all, a really pleasant experience every time I come. Dr. Cammarata has been my vet for 8+ years and as a dog owner my whole life, he is my favorite. He is smart, clinical, explains things well, is not an alarmist, and will patiently sit with you and discuss outcomes, options, and help you make the most informed decisions about your pet's care. Highly recommend him, and Cabrillo. They are upgrading their facilities as well to include even more pet care technologies. The only thing missing was a full dental xray machine, but im sure that will be a welcome addition to their new hospital when it's done.

We have been going to Cabrillo Pet Hospital for probably ten years with our dog Clarence who has passed and now we have Frankie and Lulu. We love Dr. Rose and all of his friendly staff. Clarence had issues with other vets in the past, but did really well with Dr. Rose and staff because they took time with him and cared. Our two spazzy dogs now are a handful, but they are always treated with the utmost care and patience. I've heard that the prices may be a bit higher at Cabrillo, but I wouldn't go anywhere else. It is worth every penny to have the comfort that your family member is in good hands with each and every person that works here.

My family's pug suddenly went into convulsions. We didn't know what was happening to her. Luckily we live close to Cabrillo Pet Hospital and we able to rush our pug there. Dr. Johnson was able to get our fur baby stable and diagnosed her with a seizure disorder which can be controlled with the right medication. Our pug has made a full recovery and we are so grateful. We are very satisfied with the service at Cabrillo.

Our 12 year old lab even took a tour of the OR when they found a 3+ pound mass in his abdomen. Cabrillo Veterinary Hosptial has provided the BEST service I have ever received for all of my animals. I currently have 3 dogs---American Bulldog and two Jack Russells. I can always get in to see Dr. Rose if there is an emergency. Dr. Rose is a very knowledgable and CARING veterinarian--- I have referred quite a few friends and family members to Cabrillo Veterinary Hospital. My mother in law had an English Bulldog who had MAJOR allergies and stomach issues. After not getting resolve at her original vet, Dr. Rose immediately recognized the issues and got the bulldog back on track to good health. My animals are healthy, happy and well taken care of! I love this place. Options, options and more options. From vet services with an open heart, great communication and attentiveness to a wonderful facility that boards and gives my pup a place to play at camp for the day…having all three in one spot for me is the BEST! I love the staff, they are so awesome, I recommend them all the time. I have been ripped off by vets in my past, and I don't feel this way at Cabrillo. They don't need to rip off patients/customers to pay the rent, they have a caring, functional business that works just fine. I love that they are excited to see my dog come in for day camp! Its nice to know if anything were to go wrong…the vet is RIGHT there. Its comforting to know that. They are so friendly too, thats a huge plus..to me! Great place, I am so happy and so is my pup!

I've brought my boxer and shepherd here for boarding, several times. The staff are always overwhelmingly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Dogs need a clean place where they feel safe and secure, loved, and have their needs met, not some pristine, state of the art, flat screen tv lined "resort". Cabrillo Pet Care Center is clean, safe, warm and loving, and I can rest assured that if anything were to happen, they've got Vets on staff. My dogs get so excited every time we take them there!

We've been taking our pets to Cabrillo Hospital since we arrived in San Diego a decade ago. Our sister recommended Dr. Rose, base upon the great experience she had with her pet care needs. From the very beginning, the staff has been incredibly caring and professional. We have also recommended Cabrillo Hospital to my friends, always receiving very positive feedback. We have received great service and advice from the knowledgeable staff in the adjacent store as well. Some of our pets have had more specialized diets and the staff there were always very helpful in locating the correct food, etc. The most important thing we wanted to share was how compassionate Dr. Rose and his staff were with us when faced with the loss of some of our oldest pets. They really came through at a time when we had to make some very tough decisions.

I am so grateful for Doctor Hibser and his AMAZING staff! I called urgently today to get an apt for a second opinion, they were full but could tell that I really needed help so they double booked me on a Saturday!!!! Backstory is that yesterday I was told that I may have to put my best friend down because she has an infection in her eye and nose that could be caused from an abcess or a granuloma. I asked the doctor that we were seeing if there was anything I could do to help my pup with pain, I was told no she either needed extensive dental exam and treatment or I needed to put her down. Now she is 15 but she is still very active and Mobil she is still eating and having normal bowl habits. So needless to say I was in SHOCK! I just didn't think she was ready to go. At my visit today with Dr. Hibser witch was very through he listened to her heart, lungs and did a complete external exam. He informed me that yes she has a problem with infection but that she is a senior and she's just getting old. He informed me that there is no need to run off and pay thousands for dental treatment that may not even work. He did help with her medication management so that she is not suffering in uncontrolled pain. But more importantly he DID NOT think that she needed to be euthanized as she is still a functioning dog (just an older girl!) I highly recomend this Hospital and I will be switching all of my pets care to cabrillo!!! I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders.

I brought my dog in for an ultrasound for an unidentified GI issue. I could only schedule it on the weekend, and that meant they had to bring in a mobile ultrasound. Here are my complaints and observations: 1) I was supposed to, and was told, before paying $550, that I would get the results right away, but instead I have to wait until Monday (today is Saturday). Ridiculous. I was told the Dr. would be able to look at the results and get with me right after the procedure. Didn't happen. 2) My dog was brought out to me covered in whatever kind of gel they use for the procedure. It was all over his eyes and coat. Have some (expletive) respect. It's like bringing your car to the shop and having the mechanic leave grease all over your seat. 3) I can't see how any dog would sit still for an hour to have this procedure performed, yet they still charge an additional $100 for sedation on top of the $450 they charge for the ultrasound. Seems like a little overkill ? Hopefully you have pet insurance, too. 4) No after care instructions; no one asked if I had any questions, actually. No visit from a vet. Guess I'm on my own. The cost, while outrageous, is anticipated, but pales in comparison to how my pet is treated, and I guess how I'm treated as well. That is how I am rating this experience. I travel all over the country and have been to many vets. I hate when my dog is treated like a commodity and solely as a source of income for the particular practice. I chose this place because I am new to the area, and it's close to my house, and truth be told, it had good reviews. I will be looking elsewhere.

We've had nothing but positive experiences with Cabrillo Pet Care. We have two miniature dachshunds who can sometimes be very skittish around new people or new dogs. They are never forwardly aggressive, but they will bark at new people, and they will occasionally roll over and growl or snap in defense if a dog is very forward. When we dropped them off for their temperament test, our dogs were very nervous and almost refused to go into the front door. Within a couple hours, Alex took the time to get to know our dogs one-on-one, and immediately understood their little quirks. Now our dogs love this place like a second home, and they are always bolting through the door when we arrive. The customer service at Cabrillo Pet Care is also part of what keeps us coming back. For one, they are reasonably priced for the area . Also, the owners are very flexible to schedule changes, as long as you are willing to call ahead. My work schedule is somewhat sporadic, and so I often must call them around 9am, hoping to get my dogs in for day care on the same day. I have never been refused. And the last bonus is that their pet hospital is right next door. Very convenient with a family having 2 dogs and a cat!

I have been taking my dog, Herve to Cabrillo for as long as I've had him, 8 years now! The entire staff at both the hospital and the boarding center are so kind and have treated Herve like a celebrity every time we visit. The veterinary doctors are quick and efficient and I've never felt like I've been pressured into purchasing or performing a service that wasn't needed for Herve. Recently, I started taking my fiancee's dog to their boarding center as well and they are great with her. My only concern is that my fiancee's dog came back with bleeding scratches on her flank after boarding with Cabrillo and it wasn't mentioned to us when we picked her up. Bella is a rambunctious dog so she most likely accidentally inflicted them upon herself. However, I thought it was unlike the usual service I get at Cabrillo for them not to mention it. Anyway, overall, I've had a wonderful experience with Cabrillo and highly recommend it!

Vet is good. Boarding facility sucks. Two times They gave me my dog back with poop stuck all over her (rash evident poop was here for a lengthy period of time aka days). They were surprised when I showed up a few days early to pick her up. I asked them to clean he poop off her and when they brought her back out she was still poopy. With two toddlers in hand I calmly looked at the young ladies and asked them if they would put this dog in their vehicles? How could they not see the poop all over her? They just stared back at me blankly. With the price I paid for boarding I am seriously disappointed.

I recently switched over from La Jolla Animal Hospital and I'm absolutely thrilled with the care my pooch gets! Everyone is friendly and both vets are capable and easy to work with. My dog has had repeated problems with split nails and I'd had a very bad experience with my last vet. Dr. Rose took one look at the problem nail and knew just what to do without stressing out my dog (a refreshing change) and without him walking out with a huge bandage on his foot The nail finally healed and is growing out well. They aren't a budget vet, but you do get what you pay for, and they're worth every penny.

This office is WONDERFUL!! One morning I noticed my chi was having a problem with her butt. I took her to see the Doctor and it turned out that she had a horrible problem with her anal glands and that it would require surgery immediately! I was so overwhelmed for the health of my dog, not to mention concerned with the cost. Everyone there was so good to me, they went over the cost breakdown and after care procedure. Cabrillo took care of our old dog (Hap the Yorkie who passed at 15 years of age a couple of years ago). Cabrillo cured his colon cancer which he contracted at age 9. It was a no-brainer to bring the new Yorkie, John Galt, to CPH. John just did a 3-night sleepover and he was thrilled with the service. John is indigent and I pay all of his bills. The doctors and staff at Cabrillo were fantastic with my puppy during her first year of check-ups. I got regular reminders about everything I needed to do and making appointments was always easy and convenient. I recently moved abroad and the staff REALLY went out of their way to accommodate urgent and quirky requests. They were always available to certify forms, create forms to comply with unconventional foreign rules, and made the process SO much more pleasant than it would have been if I had tried to figure it all out alone. Definitely recommend!

We have been taking our dogs to see Dr. Rose for years now. He is the best Vet we've ever been to. Because of this, when we first decided to start boarding our dogs when we went out of town, we of course, decided Cabrillo Pet Hospital was the place to go! We love all the staff there. They have always been very attentive to our two babies, and we never worry about them when we're gone, like we used to. We used to have family come over and feed the dogs, but that meant they were by themselves a lot. Then we used a professional dog sitting company....well, what a disaster that was! If you know anything about Pugs, they love attention, and they have always gotten a lot of it at Cabrillo Pet Hospital. We will be boarding our dog again this Fall, which will be challenging for her, since we lost her companion this past March. However, I know that she will receive the attention and activities she needs while we are gone.

I love Cabrillo Pet Hospital. I would refer anyone to give them a try. I used to go to a different vet because it cost less however, I learned that the quality of service that you get at Cabrillo is 100% worth the extra few dollars. Carbrillo staff are over the top friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I never have to wait and they are very professional; taking time to help me. The vets take time to explain issues, offer options, and truly care and are concerned with my pets health. The facilities are beautiful. I don't know how they keep a place where dogs are all the time so clean! I have used Cabrillo for both vet and grooming and am very happy.

No appointment, flight to catch and my dog Bud came up with an eye issue on our way to the dog sitter. Cabrillo got us in without an appointment, got him squared away and did it in a timely manner so I could make my flight. They made my day, I wouldn’t have left town without making sure Buds eye was ok. Just one example of quality care my pups get and customer service I receive at Cabrillo. I recommend them every chance I get.

I was frankly a bit disappointed as I was not able to see Dr. Rose or the doctor we had seen in a previous visit. I brought my cat in for an annual check-up and some wheezing. Dr. Johnson, a very kind lady, was very courteous, — yet she did not do a full exam. The moment I spoke about the wheezing she focused on that. She never weighted my cat or did, from what I can tell, - a full exam. We discussed briefy tx options and I decided for a shot at this time. I’m supposed to do a follow up visit. I will do so, as I like the clinic and had thus far only good experiences. Yet will not do so with Dr. Johnson!! This visit was short, incomplete and not to my satisfaction. Before I knew it, Dr. Johnson was gone, not saying good-bye or anything. I learned from the tech our visit was over and I heard Dr. Johnson seeing someone else in the adjacent room. I felt disappointed and hope that my next visit reflects the care and attention that I’m used to at this clinic. Sam N.

I am highly impressed with both Dr. Rose and Dr. Camarata. When one of my dog's got stung by a bee, my regular vet didn't have any openings. Dr. Rose was scheduled to go into surgery, but since my dog needed immediate treatment, he waited until I got there. Dr. Camarata is a wonderful, caring person and an excellent acupuncturist. The staff is kind and friendly and very efficient.

The staff here is always so nice and patient. We have never had a clinic let us pet or hold our dogs while getting injections which helps calm them down a lot but at Cabrillo they let us hold our pups making it so much easier and calmer! Our first visit with Dr. Cammarata was great. He really took the time to cover all bases and concerns with our pups. They did not try and push any procedures or injections on us but were very informative with all of our options.

When our dog was diagnosed with cancer and was in the final few months of her life it meant the world to us to have her in the hands of Dr. Rose. I have been taking my rescue pit mix to Cabrilllo since she was one month old! I love the friendly receptionists who are always so nice and know Gaia by name who in turn turns into wiggles when she sees them. Dr rose and Dr C are always kind and patient with Gaia and everyone is always loaded with trays. The vet techs are always sweet and everyone always explains exactly what they are doing when they take her in the back. I love this place. And the grooming center is great and Gaia comes out looking beautiful!
