Since I have moved to Springfield, Mo., I have only used two Veterinarians, one for my pet rats, and Dr Carlson for all my Dogs and cats over the years. I have never felt the need to go anywhere else. The doctors and the staff are all very friendly and professional, and they are willing to give you any information they can about your pet, and if that person does not know they will ask someone who does. The service I receive here in comparable to that I receive at my own physician and often exceeds it. Once you have used Carlson Pet Hospital, you won't feel the need to go anywhere else.

This is a lovely facility, it seems very clean and very well maintained. However, that and the vet tech I worked with is about all I was impressed with. When I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, I was greeted by a friendly tech and filled out paperwork. After I finished with the documents, my pup was weighed and we were led back to a room where I explained my issues to the tech. After that, I was asked to wait for the doctor and was left alone. Where I was seated, I could hear all the things going on in the lobby when a group walked in asking to speak with the doctor. I then waited while she did an entire consultation with this group in the lobby. They even sent someone in to tell me I hadn't been forgotten about. I spent upwards of 20 minutes or more listening to this vet take a walk in over me. Then, she walked straight in to the room that I was waiting with no apology and started examining my pup. My 3 year old dog is very shy, especially at the dr.s office and she did not want to be touched. The vet then began to laugh at my dog and called her "chicken little" (probably because she didnt understand my dogs full name even after I told her 3 times how to say it, it seemed she was in a hurry and didnt care). All this when i am crying because i have to have 2 of my dogs canine teeth removed. I almost walked out but i was worried about my pup. Then, I set up an appointment and was ushered out the door, an appointment that I absolutely plan to cancel as soon as they reopen on Monday. The vet tech that helped me at the beginning was very kind, but my whole experience I felt like my dog was not a priority to this doctor. The only reason I am giving a 2 star is because of the vet tech. The vet made me very uncomfortable and I felt very much like I was not a priority. Do not use this vet, call around first.

Dr. Carlson and staff are simply the best! They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and really care. Once a medicine wasn't available and didn't get filled, so they borrowed it from another vet and even delivered it to my house. They've given me things I needed to care for my cats when they could have sold them to me. They've nursed more than one very sick cat back to health for me and I simply wouldn't go anywhere else.

Carlson Vet was our first Vet for our dogs and we were always pleased with their service and knowledge. We changed Vets when we got bunnies so all the animals would be seen at the same place but when my dog was dying and the other vet could care less to help me. Carlson's Pet Hospital tried to help and gave me better information which ultimately helped me cope better when my dog did die. I will not take my dogs anywhere but them from now on. No matter what you can always reach a knowledable person to get advice from and schedule appointments.

Dr. Carlson and her team are the most professional veterinarians I've used. Except when I lived in another state, I've been going to CPH since the 1970s (Dr. Carlson's father opened the clinic). They are warm, compassionate and up-to-date on treatment. They offer options and make suggestions. Be sure to ask questions - they don't mind. I've gotten lots of good information that way. They've always gone above and beyond in the care of my cats and grand-dog. I've recommended them many times to friends and co-workers. Be sure to say hi! to Larry the Cat when you go - he's the official greeter!

We took our dogs to the veterinary clinic for their annual check up. Murphy is a 13 year old Shepherd mix and Oscar is a 1 year old Border Collie. We enjoyed our visit. The staff is excellent, well organized, and happy to help. We had 3 children with us, ages 5, 7, and 10. They welcomed all of us.

Dr. Carlson is fair, knowledgeable, and thorough in her examination of my cats and has always been realistic and conservative in her treatment of them. She tells you the truth and respects your choice to follow her advice, or not. Our emergencies have been dealt with promptly and I've never been treated badly for not doing "regular checkups" and other silly rules that some vets make you follow in order to be seen. Office staff can sometimes be a bit slow and could be a bit more proactive. But I go there for the vet, not them. Highly recommended.

Vet from HELL. Took my 5 year old cat there for the first time and the vet just picked her up by the scruff and pinned her down. My cat does not bite or scratch anyone. You're not supposed to pick up a cat by the scruff after it's a certain weight because you can cause PERMANENT nerve damage! I will NEVER go there again! Not to mention that they're always late for their appointments by nearly an hour! And you're not given the same vet every time, so when you see the other vet you have to re explain everything. I now go to Northside Animal Clinic and the vet there is amazing! You see him every time so your pet has a dedicated primary care physician, they're more affordable, they're always on time with their appointments, and they always have a couple spots open on Saturdays for emergency visits! 1000× better than Carlsom Veterinary

I had taken my dog there for 10 years and had not had any problems. My dog(Ozzie) was a healthy dog all the way around. I even bought prescription dog food from which I bought Dr Carlson. December 2017 I took him in to get nails clipped and annal glands bleed. They said he had a UTI infection and prescribed him medication. I was to bring him back in 14 days when meds were gone to get him retested. On the 13th day I noticed he was peeing and dripping blood. I called and took him in immediately. They ran test and said this blood was not coagulating and nothing could be done except a blood transfusion. And that more than likely would not work. So she recommended that he be put down. I feel after researching the drug that he was prescribed that he was given double the amount required for his weight which I feel caused his death. I Recommend Do Not Go Here. I would rate a zero star if I could!

Dr. Carlson the best!! We drove our precious puppy 3.5 hours simply so she could neuter him. I would not trust anyone else to take care of our fur-family member. She has such skill but also has incredible compassion which is a hard mix to find. She follows up and cares for your pet as you would. You are completely comfortable they are in the best hands. We will keep driving 7 hours round trip to let our pet get the best care from Dr. Carlson!!

This isn't my usual vet but we had a bit of an emergency and they were able to get my baby girl in immediately to get her taken care of. They did an amazing job and it's obvious that they really do care about your animals. If I wasn't moving they would definitely be our regular vet.

My husband and I moved to Springfield in 1990 and have always had pets. Because we don't have children together, our pets are our babies and we take that responsibility very seriously. So we have tried three vets in town thru the years and our pets have had some major health problems along the way. Two of those have been average towards care. The last was recommended to us and has proven to be the very best! That is Carlson's Pet Hospital. They have a standard of care and personal touch that can not be denied by us! We will continue to put our trust in them for many years to come.

I have four cats who are generally healthy. One has FIV and gets along fairly well with other cats. I have taken them all to different vets at some point or another, but Carlson has always taken the extra step to help us, whether it is financially or in helping our cats. They take the time to get to know the animals. The workers seem to remember most of the visitors! They have TVs playing videos of pets playing and sleeping. They also help to calm your pet if they are anxious or scared. They have treats on hand. I love this vet! I highly recommend visiting Carlson if you are in need of a vet

You NEVER know what vet will be working with you and your pet. Had an appointment for nails trimmed and while 2 girls are Discussing if the hair around the nails should be trimmed or not. They decided that the next day she would be back for a vet to see her because she was in PAIN WITH HER SHOULDER. An couldn't be seen until then then . They turned me away . Said some one would do the nails TOMORROW. After I drove across town . THAT'S NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL. NOT IN MY BOOK !

I recommend them for all your pet needs! My main vet doesn't take CareCredit and my dog got in an incident and needed surgery, so I'm so glad they took my CareCredit card or else I wouldn't have been able to afford it. The facility is clean and I love the videos of silly animals they play on the TV'S. From the receptionist to the the vet techs to the doctors, everyone was so nice and helpful!
