I had to put one of our 15 year old cats to rest last week and the vets and staff were so gracious and helpful. They made a heartbreaking experience as easy as they could. I will never forget it and they have a customer for life!

Lauri Little

Grant Avenue Pet Hospital has always been a positive experience. This time, the new Vet, Kimberly Clem treated my furbabies. I really liked her.

Stephanie Shelton

Yesterday I had to put my elderly dog to sleep. My current vet was not available and called Grant Avenue Pet Hospital and they said to head their way. I am so THANKFUL for the compassion all of the staff. From the receptionist to the Vet, I appreciate the service myself and my four- legged friend received. I will be switching my dogs to Grant Avenue.

Very pleased with my experience! I called and needed an emergency visit for my cat and they worked me in within an hour! They also gave me an estimate for his treatment before treating him so I could decide if I wanted it done or not. Very friendly and professional. Would highly recommend!

I have been a loyal client for 6 years so far and they have always been diligent & efficient. Also, so caring- when my Wilbur passed away they helped with arrangement suggestions & they also sent a sweet berievment card, just out of the kindness of their hearts! Love how they care about my fur-babies almost as much as me!! :)

I have unfortunately recently had to have two of my older cats put to sleep. I brought them both here, and the caring and compassion by the staff was exceptional. The vet that took my cats to put to sleep could sense how upset I was, and she seemed on the verge of crying herself. She mentioned several times how sorry she was that I was losing my pets. Then, in the mail about a week later I got a handwritten card again stating how sorry they were for my loss. I was really grateful for their compassion at such a difficult time. Thank you Grant Ave. Pet Hospital.

Melissa & Lauren are the best! Take care of our Yorkie like he is their own. They have such a caring, gentle way of helping your animal friend, it makes it comfortable for everyone. Not to mention, very reasonable prices.

jaime wright

Prices are ridiculous. I have been taking my dog there for about 10 years and I know they have changed doctors but they had no history of my dog which in the long run I had to pay more for test results they should have already known. I no longer plan on returning there.

Brought our dog in after he broke his dew claw and had them look at another ongoing issue he was having. They seemed to honestly care and were very gentle with him.

My elderly parents have been taking their dogs to Grant Avenue Pet Hospital since the 1970s. They have generally had good service from the staff there. However, they took their dog yesterday to Dr. Rund, and he was rude and impatient with them. After all their years of being a faithful customer, and the fact that they are senior citizens, I really find this treatment unacceptable. They are very kind people who never mistreat anyone. They won't be returning.

Samantha Reynolds

Very sweet and caring people. We had a very hard time putting our baby down and they were extremely patient and went by with however much time we needed... there will never be enough time in the world, but they waited as long as we needed.

RIP Molly, may you be free from pain, and enjoy life in doggy heaven. To those that use Grant Ave Pet Hospital. I urge caution, we have used them for years, and we had taken her there to be checked on 3 separate occasions, and after spending hundreds on meds and blood work that did absolutely nothing we went to another vet. She took one look at Molly and said it was one of two things and an xray was needed, and it wasn't good. 2 x rays later and they knew she had the most painful form of bone cancer she could get. The cancer/tumor had eaten away the bones in her shoulder. They recommended putting her down as she was in so much pain.

Vicki Cota

Other than a dog whisperer, they are above average.

I was very disappointed in Grant Avenue Pet Hospital with my visit today. I had taken my cat in for a claw trim during a busy time (dog with a broken foot and a dog with a seizure). I was told they do not take appointments for trimmings. I decided to wait as it's already near impossible to get my cat out of the house before he gets really nervous and has a mini panic attack. A vet tech came into the waiting room, looked at my cat and I, and said, "Trim?" I nodded and this tech came over and picked up my cat's carrier and began walking away. I followed and was told I could not go back with him due to the surgeries. This upset me for a few reasons. 1. This vet tech had not even introduced herself to myself or my cat. 2. I was not given the option to wait longer for a room that I could observe in. 3. The tech came back before I even finished paying my bill. Although I appreciate the quick visit, there is no way my cat was treated with caring and loving hands in that short amount of time. I would have rather waited 3 hours to get a room that I would be able to observe in over my cat being marched off to some back room that I was not allowed in and be out in an extremely short amount of time. I looked at my cat's claws after the visit and saw one nail was hanging halfway off (not fully cut). If you had asked me my opinion on this vet 4 hours ago, I would have said my cat and I had finally found our Springfield vet, however, after being treated as an inconvenience to the staff, I will be taking my cat elsewhere, even if it means driving 3 and a half hours to our home vet in Saint Louis. I hope no one else experiences this kind of customer service at Grant Avenue Pet Hospital.

Excellent and caring staff/vet. We always feel welcomed to drop by and get monthly updates such as nail trims and such. I also like that they will do multi pet visits for annuals which make it easier on us. And when it comes time for you to say goodbye to a fur baby, the office handles everything for you and treats you with the upmost respect for your and your pet's needs. The techs are awesome and we love Dr. Bright.

My dog died as a result of their negligence and unprofessional approach to the situation. Thomas Rouse is about as in compassionate as a human being can be in my opinion. I was an an existing customer but new to him. It was 4:34 and he got off at 5:00 and he wouldn't stay to see my dog and wait for me to get there from Rogersville. My dog died thirty minutes later.

Been taking our cats here for years. Five stars for overall value. Customer service at the front desk has been uneven and some of the products they sell (push?) are pricey, but the vet services themselves have always been competent, friendly, and very reasonably priced. Bonus for having a cat mascot in residence.

Kimberly McCoy

Really wasn't fond of the bedside manner for my dog.

larry von holten

Great place for your pets, we had to put our dog down and all of the staff were helpful compassionate and very concerned about us and our dog.

This vet hospital is awsome they treat your animals like there own that's a plus in my opinion.

Brenda Rand

This morning I picked up a stray cat I was having neutered at SAAF House. The girl informed me the cat had tape worms, so I headed over to Grant for wormer. I was surprised to see it was over $16 to worm one cat for one type of worm, and realized I didn't have enough cash. I had left my bank card at home. I was 75 cents short of the cost. I've been going to Grant for over 10 years, and have had many animals treated there over the years, but even though I have a huge file, and have been a good and steady customer, I couldn't be trusted for the 75 cents. I should mention Dr. Rund wasn't in the office. I'm sure he would have waved me through. The receptionist was absolutely devoid of personality, and basically never even asked anyone else in authority if I could have the 75 cent credit. I stood there like an idiot for 15 minutes; being ignored. Finally, I told them to forget about it; I would get it somewhere else. I've really never been treated so badly. The first thing to greet me when I walk in the front office was a sign on their receiving desk 'must pay for service before picking up animal' The sign is as big as my purse, and sits in the very center of the counter. This tells me, that getting the money is more important than anything else. It's a nasty way to greet a customer. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Dee Dee

Great staff very friendly and they are wonderful with your fur babies! Couldn't have ask for better care for Mea and their prices are very reasonable especially being a emergency urgent care. I was very pleased and would recommend them to anyone that's needs them especially asap!

Competent, professional staff. They’re friendly to their human clients, and it’s obvious they care about their patients. They were great with my cats, and their prices were reasonable. I highly recommend Grant Avenue Pet Hospital!

Erin Shean

My 15 year old dog goes to Dr. Brite and when she is not available Dr. Woodrell. These are both intelligent and caring ladies with lots of compassion and knowledge. Dr. Brite always takes time to discuss my baby with me end even calls to discuss options and the heath of my dog who has cancer.

Micka Lee

My experience at this clinic was better than I could have asked for- starting with the ease and convenience of booking my appointment online after hours, as well as the billing made easy through Care Credit, which I'm so glad they accept. After noticing some changes in my dog's habits I was concerned for her and made the appointment. I had high hopes that she had something treatable within my budget. With that in mind I was pretty reserved and hesitant when Dr. Rouse explained that I needed to get the works of testing done to get to the root of the problem and would likely be looking at surgery. He was confident he knew what she had but needed to do the tests first- after I finally came around I'm so grateful that he patiently expressed the urgency because he was right. They found that she had a life-threatening infection, it could have killed her any day now. He took her in and performed the surgery immediately despite his busy schedule, and he personally called me when it was done to let me know she made it through successfully and would be okay. My dog was treated with care and adored by the medical staff, she felt joyful and at ease with them and I feel confident in Dr. Rouse' evident expertise and concern. SO glad I brought her here yesterday, I still have my furbaby safe and sound thanks to them.

They knew I was on a budget and were patient while I figured out funds and they saved my cats life after he had an intestinal blockage. I've brought all my cats here since then and I'm very happy with them

Abby Otto

I went once the very first time and I had an emergency no other place would really take me in for an appointment but I got my little guy checked and I'm on my way back again.

Joe Lorentz

Over priced for the little to nothing they do and lack of care for animals even though they're a vet

Steven Farrell

My dog was hit by a car and the 4 other vets i called were unable to see him. Called Grant Ave Pet Hospital and was told to bring him up right away. Doctor was very knowledgeable and my dog is going to be fine.

Kevin Houseman

Treated like family over the years.

Jane Ross

Syd Wade

Usually they are very nice, but today I heard them talking disrespectfully about my cats behind the door to the exam room. That wall is very thin y'all. It really hurts my feelings that such a nice clinic would be so rude behind closed doors. Not sure I can continue to have my pets treated here if that's how they act.

mike comstock

Our cats penny and Forrest have had very good care there but a year ago Forrest beloved he was abducted by aliens and probed. If yeah know what I mean penny on the other hand loves wverybody no matter what

John Stanczak

I'm very satisfied with the service

Rande Colley

I was told when I paid the office visit for my dog that I would get his much-needed medication for his typical skin allergies and arthritis rx. However, when I paid the exam visit a few weeks later, I was told my dog would need another exam plus blood work to release any rx . They lied to me about the release of my dogs rx when I paid the full bill. I suggest you take your pet to a more trusted and honest clinic.

Tina W

I love this vet. I've never had a vet that cared more about animals. Thank you.

Dr. Brite and every single one of her staff are absolutely amazing. My first time here I took a very sick 12 and 1/2 month German Shepherd in. She was in renal failure of unknown origin. Dr. Brite suggested some more specialized care and diagnostics at the University in Columbia, MO. She got together all the information and made all the arrangements for us. All we had to do is show up. She was wonderful and there was no doubt of her genuine concern for our dog, Lyssa. It turned out that Lyssa had a significant congenital defect with her kidneys that meant certain and agonizing death in the very near future. My husband and I made the decision to take her home for one last night with her and go ahead and have her put down the next day. We took her to Dr. Brite for the euthinasia. Once again, the staff was stellar. Everyone from the young lady at the front desk to the assistants to Dr. Brite could not have been more caring, comforting and attentive to ours and Lyssa's needs. (I regret that I did not get all their names, every single one deserves recognition.) Dr. Brite ensured her comfort by administering good sedation prior to the drug that would stop her heart. She went peacefully and comfortably in our laps. These guys have a customer for life. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Brite and her phenomenal staff. God Bless them...

I decided to give this place a try because it is close to my house and my current vet is about 30 minutes away. One person seemed fairly friendly here, but the rest of them did not. It was not a warm and welcoming environment. I'm not sure which vet I saw because she never introduced herself or asked much about my pet's history, which I found highly unprofessional for a first time visit and indicative of lack of caring. I also found it kind of offensive that she included vaccinations in the quote for services prior to asking me if my pet was current and they also didn't seem to be an option. Their quote was a couple hundred dollars higher than what other vets have quoted me for similar services. She also made me feel a bit pressured. I think I will stick to my current vet who explains my options and allows me to make informed decisions rather than coming back here.

Greg Kissee

Tammy Lawrence

They love my animals like we do. It isn't the fanciest vet place in Springfield, but that is OK by me.

The facility's leave a lot to be desired. My dogs seemed very uncomfortable there which is very uncharacteristic of them since they visit many businesses with me. The vet who looked at my dog couldn't answer many of the questions I asked. The few he could answer were very very vague and had no explanations if i questioned his opinion. His concern that my 10 week GSD pup had not lost any "puppy" teeth absolutely infuriated me. I can deal with sub-par facilities but not incompetence. I took a chance with this clinic because it was closer to home and was told they were suppose to be knowledgeable of the German shepherd breed. I got a same day appointment when I called to schedule. That should have been a red flag!!! But I only needed vaccines so I was not concerned. I was very wrong! I now happily drive across town to Bradford park who typically have a 3 week wait for appointments but have made time for me when I stop by for something I need done.

Barbara Mikesell

The staff is really nice, the doctor was great.

Su Hazal Ide

The vets here have excellent bedside manner, and really care about your pets. I've had a wonderful experience every time I've gone here. They are also very understanding and accommodating to my blind dog. I love the whole staff here as well. They are so knowledgable and will take the time to answer all of your questions. Scheduling is also a breeze, and the pricing is not unfair at all. I love this hospital and will continue to take all five of my rascals to Grant Avenue!

Jonna Welch

I have taken my dogs there on a few occasions, each of which were not good experiences. They do extra procedures/exams without telling you they are going to cost more and the vets I've dealt with have not been personable. An example of this would be that they charge for the "exam" fee, but the exam literally consists of nothing. I had to tell the vet that my dog was having ear issues, and she said to me, "well let me take a closer look" after she used a q-tip in his ear. Later, when I was paying, I was advised that it was going to cost over $30.00 extra (don't remember exact number), which I was NEVER advised of. They then advised me that they had ONE course of treatment, which was very expensive. I explained that my last vet had given me medication that worked really great with his ears and they told me that the expensive treatment plan was the ONLY option and they would not prescribe an antibiotic........ After the visit, I received an email from them asking me to tell them about my last visit, which I responded with each of my concerns and never received any kind of response. I will say that the nurse techs/assistants have always been very kind. I refuse to take my dogs back there and have found a new vet. Also, I NEVER leave reviews, but want others to be aware.

Martha Price

We had to have our beloved dog Bonny put to sleep. They were so compassionate and helpful with making her comfortable and letting us be with her. We are very grateful to the Vet and all employees that help us.

I have taken my 10-year-old Maltese, Lexi, to Grant Avenue three times and I don't plan on taking her back there. I have PTSD, I'm applying for disability, and my income is below poverty level. Every time she's been taken in to see a vet there, the vet who sees her has something snarky to say because I can't come up with the money for expensive procedures or medications on the day of the visit. Truth be told, I spend more money on ensuring her needs are met than I do on myself. During her first visit, the vet told me she has allergies and threw a fit because her previous vet told us to give her Benadryl. He also insisted that her leg be x-rayed but I had to wait for my tax return. He was unhappy with that and implied that I wasn't taking good care of her. It should also be noted that he didn't offer an alternative allergy medication for her. The second visit, after I got my tax return, we took her in to get teeth pulled, we instructed them to take the x-ray while she was sedated but they didn't. Then, we were advised that the vet examined her knee and diagnosed her with a luxating patella. We were told that she would need surgery to fix it; all without having an x-ray to confirm the diagnosis or other alternatives to surgery. During her last visit, my friend had to take Lexi since I was working. Lexi had some throat irritation and I wanted to rule out other reasons for the cough. My friend took her in and Lexi saw a different vet than the one she'd seen before. The visit started out badly... The vet told my friend that at 8.5 pounds, Lexi was underweight and implied I was starving her. AKC standard for a Maltese is under 8 pounds, European standard weight is up to 9 pounds. My friend wasn't asked how much food Lexi was fed a day, and the vet didn't bother to let my friend know how much food Lexi should get a day. As the vet was examining Lexi, my friend suggested the issue may be an allergic reaction but the dismissed the notion and said that Lexi's records didn't show she had allergies, even though the first vet Lexi saw there previously said she had allergies. She told my friend that the throat irritation was caused by licking and said Lexi needed to stop licking, but didn't offer any advice to get Lexi to stop licking. She then gave Lexi a very expensive antibiotic, without discussing the other options available. Finally, Lexi was given a cough suppressant; however, it was "Cough Tabs" which are a suppressant/expectorant combo that potentially could have done more harm than good. Especially if the problem is a collapsed trachea, which is common in small breeds. Long story short... I won't take Lexi back to this place. For the prices charged, I expect a certain quality of care that Lexi didn't receive. I will take Lexi and my money to a vet who is willing to discuss options with me, won't judge me because my financial circumstances changed after I got Lexi, will help me prioritize any issues that Lexi has, and one who will provide Lexi with the quality care she deserves.

Rena Rippe

Went in for yearly shots for my cat....bad experience all around! Tech took cat back for feline leukemia test, told her carrier handle not sturdy, ignored me totally. Bumped carrier, with cat against door on way out! Brought cat back in, roughly slid cat in carrier onto exam table, left with "it will be about 10 minutes" . The bad customer service started at the front and continued throughout my visit. Plus EXTREMELY overpriced service! $164 later (keep in mind I only wanted basic yearly shots, for my healthy cat ) ... I get home and no rabies tag! I called and was told I would need to go back and get the tag! And, when i asked about the booster for feline leukemia shot, I was told it didnt need an appt, but there was an additional charge... Of around $20 something!! Wow! Really!!!!

I’m grateful this place was able to work in my doggie when my vet was out of the country and couldn’t see her for at least two weeks. I didn’t want to take her to the vet er and I couldn’t wait until they opened at 6pm. Staff was very friendly and helpful and told me the prices before they did anything. They are more expensive than what I’m used to paying. The only things I have to complain about it they want you to pay in full right there. I understand why they do this I guess I’m spoiled that my vet allows me to make payments and they can bill you later if you can’t pay then. I also had to take her back to my vet when her symptoms got worse. He had to to an X-ray and found she not only had pancreatitis(diagnosed here at this place) but an upper respiratory infection. I’m not sure why they didn’t do an X-ray here to rule out any other potential issues. So not only did I have to pay over 300$ here but more at my vets office. I’m not upset just wish they would’ve done a little more than just blood work so I didn’t have to end up paying double. I’m still grateful they were able to see her when other vet places I called wouldn’t.

Thanks for helping my cat, and pet family

These vets care about your fur-babies like their own! Dr. Rouse along with the others take time to explain everything and show you what needs to be done or in some cases what was done. The office is clean the staff friendly. Most importantly 9 out of 10 time you can get in same day!! Vet fees, I feel have always been fair/reasonable.

Daniel Williams

I've been coming in here for years. They have never stiffed me, nor have they lied to me. I had to put a dear friend of mine down a few years ago. It was the hardest day I've had in a long time. They sent me a bereavement card! The rates are around the industry standard and the staff is very friendly and accommodating .

Jenni Vaughn

I started taking my pets here a couple months ago because the vet I was at could never get us in. The staff at Grant Avenue have been courteous, efficient, and very friendly. I received some bad news about one of my pets, quickly adopted a pet due to circumstances, and had an issue with another pet and Grant Avenue was able to get me right in; one of those being a walk-in. I can't say enough how awesome I think Dr. Woodrell is. She takes the time to listen and explain-more than once if need be. Their prices are also very affordable, especially for my menagerie. Very satisfied customer. Make sure to pet Gabby!

J S

I've used Grant Ave for my 4 pets since 2012 and they have always worked with my fur-babies like they were their own pets. The location is also super convenient since my cats don't react well to long car rides. Not the cheapest place in town, but I wouldn't base my own healthcare on price vs. quality. This is definitely quality

Great people, great service. Only complaint is the actual charges are way off the mark from the original quote, but it's documented where the deviation occurred (they quoted 1yr rabies, but administered 3yr, and I added the 6 month heartworm injection instead of the monthly chewable).

Spence Limb

Grant Ave. is my “go-to” Vet! We have 4 dogs, a cat, and used to foster for a rescue; so I’ve literally been to almost every Vet in the Springfield Metro area. Grant Avenue has gone above and beyond on several occasions, and is the place I personally like taking my animals to. They have even helped when I found an orphaned baby possum after my dogs got ahold of the mother. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!!!

Carvel Wisenbaker

Great bunch of people and my dogs think they great!!!!

I called on the morning of August 3 because my dog was in pain. I mentioned that due to medical issues I was having I could not afford to bring him in. I asked that if the vet could not refill his medications, could she possibly advise something over the counter that might help him (he has been seen there before for the same issue). I was told I would receive a call back later that day. I never received that call. Fortunately the little guy is doing much better, but I will be looking for a new vet.
