I’ve read a lot of negative reviews about banefield and I’d like to share my experiences. Banefield can be extremely expensive if you want to do full diagnostics on your pet, but this isn’t any more than what would happen at other vets I have been to. If you’re honest about your expectations they always honor it and they give you options within that. I’m a college student so my budget is pretty limited. There have been times when money isn’t an issue and I’ve spent a lot on my pet. However, I have recently taken in a stray cat right after paying college tuition. I’m broke and I honestly told them what I could spend, the entire staff went out of their way to ensure that my cat had the most important issues addressed first and helped me maintain my budget. They have been amazing and have helped my pets for over a year now. They care a lot about my dog and my new cat, they really try hard to accommodate individual needs. When they learned I would be keeping the stray I found, they were just excited as me and gave me tips on taking care of my new fur baby.

Called to make an appointment for shots for my two dogs and it was going to be over $200!!! Just for two shots! They were going to charge me an “office visit” per dog! Plus charge double what what other veterinarians charge for these shots. Talk about a rip off.

Horrible customer service. Sent card for comprehensive appointment reminder and then they told us when we went that it wasn't until the next week. Why weren't we told that when making the appointment? No longer supplying the generic Caprofen and the prescription is for a random amount of 40 days instead of 60 or 90. A bottle used to cost $57 and now it is double? We have had nothing but issues since Dr. Powell left. We have been overcharged multiple times and had to go back and get that resolved at least three times. It is hard to get an appointment in less you call way in advance. We are constantly being asked to do dental cleanings so more money can be made. I have a feeling a lot of customers have left and will leave when their plan is up. We have been a customer for 10+ years with multiple pets. I loved the monthly plan to spread out costs, but I am strongly considering taking my 4 pets to a new vet when their plans are up. I feel like we are being scammed and the only thing Banfield cares about is the money.

Dont ever go here for your pet they are very unprofessional, They charge you more for the WELLNESS PLANS then they say & Don't get me started about canceling...Canceling is the worst experience they say you can cancel at anytime... That's a lie they charge you just to cancel, your account and try to say they already provided services Which is also a lie because everytime I been there for my pet they always charged me something rather it was 40-70 dollars WOULD NOT RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE inless you are ready for a CONTRACT!! :( :(

Staff is nice enough and all, but they are very inconveniently tight. I was five minutes late to an appointment and they refused to see me. After the hassle it was just getting there, it was particularly frustrating. I left home early but I cannot control traffic.

I typically love taking my pets to Banfield but this location has disappointed me. One appointment, they didn't have us in the system. Luckily, they still saw us. The next appointment, they had down as a drop off - ok, I had some time to kill. However, 3 1/2 hours later they still hadn't seen my pet to take her blood that would take an additional 45 minutes to read. Very disappointed and will not be going back.

Set up an appointment, took time off from work for said appointment, got there NO RECORD of the appointment! Unbelievable, make sure you get the name of the person you are talking to, then call back and confirm! Unbelievable!!! Usually no problem, I don't know what has changed, but I see someone posted an experience similar to mine, maybe it's time to move on.

I made the biggest mistake of my life when I signed up for their wellness plan female vet was unenthused and wasn’t personable didn’t show any love to our animals then at my last appointment there was a mix up I usually bring mine and my mothers puppy at the same time and they schedule us in two different slots the reminder came to my phone for 930am so I thought that’s when the first appointment started and the other appointment was after but apparently the other one was before and they had sent that reminder to my mom so I came in and they explained that they couldn’t see both dog because I was 15mins late for the first appointment mind you I wasn’t late for the second I was right on time so I politely asked well could you see one of the dogs the receptionist said no I asked well why not I was on time for the second one she said well the vet said she is not going to see them if your more than 5mins late we can refuse your appointment I looked at the clock it was 934 I said well ma’am I’m not even 5mins late and I’ve been in your lobby for the last 4mins listening to why you can’t see the other dog she then snaps and says well the vet said NO and walked off I asked the other receptionist for the number to customer service she said okay and went to the back when she finally came back up front she said the vet would see one of the dogs I waited forever in their lobby there was tons of traffic so my puppies and other dogs were barking at eachother they were so traumatized they used the restroom in their carriers twice and then again I received unenthused service worse vet experience ever

I had the pet plan and paid it off. I then had to rehome my GSD and cancelled the plan with essentially 5 months left on it. When I called to cancel my plan I naturally assumed I would recieve part of my money back as i was quoted a price for the full year. To my surprise was told that as far as Banfield was concerned their provided services were $1100 and my plan was $800, roughly, so I received more services than I paid for. Now I do not know what kind of crazy accounting they use but if you offer a plan with discounts I am not quite sure how you get to add those back in when cancelled. I DO know that I will get a real vet not a doc-in-the-box when we get our next dog/cat. I will not recommend them to anyone.

Have had insurance on my pets for over 5 years, and it seems like they have changed all of a sudden, they don't call to confirm appointments, staff is rude and unprofessional. Long waits are always a given, and it seems that they are more interested now in your money than the actual health of your pet. very disappointed.

My kitten had worms so I was calling around vets in springfield, and this seemed to be the most reasonable price wise. I walked in and there were a couple children super excited about her presence. It's a clean place and I was in and out within 45 minutes. They were kind and didn't laugh at my questions. They even called me the next day to make sure she was doing well. Very helpful!

Do not go there. I went there because my dog had a ruptured anal gland. They billed us $217 for about 5 minutes of service. They didn't even clean the wound ... The dog came out with blood and pus all over. It seriously didn't look any better for the next following days. So I went back there, asked them if this was expected recovery. Of course they didn't want to show the dog to a vet if we didn't pay again for a visit. So the assistant said "Sure it's normal, you have to wait until she has taken all the antibiotics.". Two weeks later, it keeps swelling and rupturing. So we go there and the assistants are just completely obnoxious, make fool of us. In the end, we just spent $217 bucks for nothing, because they have not even emptied the anal gland... TL;DR: This place is a scam ... Do not go there, they will take your money with nothing in return ...

My wife was online on notices a free pet evoluation so she filled it out banfield pet hospital contacted her fairly quickly and asked her questions about her dog. She exspailed what the problem was and the set her up for a free evalution. We took our dog to there clinic and after waiting an hour they told us that they could not see our pet for free because its for healthy pets only. She exsplained to them that the issue was discussed over phone before apt was set but they still said no. She pulled up the add online and they read it and still said no. Wasnt exspecring them to treat dog for free but wanted a visual evaluation to see if dog was treatable or needed to be put down. They lied from the start and still lied after reading there own ad. Would not trust this place with any animals

We've been going to Banfield for over 10 years. With 3 athletic (and now really old) dogs prone to injury, it's safe to say we've been there a lot. There is literally NOTHING Dr. Bridges and his staff wouldn't do to take care of my dogs. I don't love driving to WLR, but I do love the staff at Banfield!

It's odd how this place is part of the petsmart building but remains the exact opposite of PetSmart's excellent customer service and reasonable pricing. Long story short my dog had surgery to remove his spleen with a tumor attached at my vet, not banfield. Well on a Saturday his incision was leaking so we took him to here to get it looked over .They state it's normal and bandage it. Maybe an hour later it's coming through the bandage so we go back. We are then told it's not normal. They then said to take him to the emergency vet because they were closing in 15 minutes. Emergency vet stated it was normal. So why was I charged the $50 to be told to take him elsewhere? They didn't really seem to know what was going on....and were more worried about punching out on time ....

Beware of Banfield and their plans as they are deceptive. I called today to cancel my plan because my dog was diagnosed with Lymphoma and is terminal. They tell me that I can’t cancel my plan unless I pay over $300 for services I had received. EVERY service I had received had been covered in my plan and I was told that by the vets of the time of the visits and services. Other things I had done such as a test and medication, I paid for on top of my regular plan bill! So now I’m being told I owe money for services not covered? From what I recall I had three check ups, teeth cleaning and an ear test which I was told was all covered by the plan. The test to see if my dog had lymphoma I paid for, antibiotics, I paid for that and ear cleaner, I paid for that! When someone says the services are covered by your plan then that is what it is supposed to be! As far as I’m concerned, Banfield are scammers! If I could do ZERO stars, I would. Don't get caught up in their fake plans, you may end up like me in which they tell you that you are covered and then try and charge you. Shame on you Banfield.

[updated 1/16/2019] I gave 5 stars after the first visit, when the staff and the doctor were super nice and talked us into buying the wellness plan. However, after the first visit, my puppy were treated in a cannot-be-more-brief way. We changed the doctor since then, it was a much better experience. However, our favorite doctor took a medical leave and we had to switch back to our original doc, whose style hasn't changed at all. Like recently, my puppy has some skin issue, we went to this hospital 4 times and every time the doc only prescribed some anti-itchy pills without being able to identify the cause and the treatment. 4 times!! And when we requested the doctor to do some tests (which she should have done in the first or the second visit we thought) because my puppy is not getting any better with the anti-itchy pills, she decided that she needed to figure out the cause before doing the test. OMG, we visited 4 times and you didn't figure out, should we expect that you figure it out this time???? I am very disappointed about this hospital and want to change another one that's more caring and professional. Any recommendation?

I have never had an issue with them. Going here for 2 years now. If I have a problem or question I ask and they explain or ask another employee if they aren't sure. They are always nice. Waiting for appointments happens but they are not a big vet place (they only have 4 exam rooms and just got a 3rd vet on the team) So waiting will happen sometimes. I have only had it happen once where I waited a really long time for an appointment, but was only maybe 15 minute before I got into a room.

I'm leaving the text to my original review below, but need to update it as the response from the office was so wonderful it is definitely deserving up an update. I was very impressed with the follow-up to my review. Banfield corporate messaged me that I'd be contacted by the Little Rock Banfield office. I did not expect it to be within a few hours of receiving that message! The office manager not only agreed with my issues, but told me how they were addressing the problem so that it won't happen again. She relayed condolences from my vet, and gave me messages from both him and the tech who'd seen another of my cats, Spike, just a few weeks ago. (His prognosis is not good although he's rallied for now.) Any office of any sorts is going to have "slips" in service. How they respond to customers caught in such situations speaks volumes - and Banfield has done a fantastic job of addressing this in my case. Caring for our animal companions is not an easy job especially when a loss is suffered, and can be a very busy one. I applaud Banfield on a corporate and local level for taking the time to contact me. *****Original review follows: First I want to stress I think Dr. Bridges is wonderful. At this point, I don't plan to change vets. However, I do want to review a specific situation which did not involve him directly. Not sure exactly what happened, but I'm still going "huh?" in my grief. I am an eight year customer of this Pet Hospital. Although I still absolutely love the vet and will probably continue using them, I just called to cancel an appointment I had today for one of my cats as the cat died at the emergency vet this weekend. The response was "Is that all?" No "I'm sorry." No "What happened so we can update and close her records." No "What is your phone number so we can call you back. We need to update her records but we're swamped at the moment." No signs of sympathy whatsoever. I made the appointment for today because they could not fit my kitty in on a Saturday. (In fact, they were supposed to call me back and let me know whether they could fit her in or not, and never did.) I understand that completely and they did recommend taking her to the emergency vet if she worsened which I did. The outcome would honestly have still been they same. But I expect any vet's office to show sympathy and sorry. I doubt I even get the traditional sympathy card from them. They didn't even ask who I was. I also understand busy but how long does it take to say "We are so sorry for your loss?"

Mismanaged. Will try and manipulate you into buying pet meds from them rather than online. Very obstinant about giving you prescriptions in writing so you can fill them elsewhere. Was made to wait over an hour and a half to speak with the doctor to get a prescription. Meanwhile, I ended having to wait outside due to the dog dander driving my allergies crazy. Only gave me one prescription for one cat when we brought in 2 and paid for 2 to be checked out and given shots for. Refused to give me a second prescription for our other cat claiming they lost the paperwork or for some reason didn't have it.

To my babies I have 5 Yorkies and take good care of them the mama and the daddy are 7 years old her name is Cher and Sonny and then her three babies AR frisky Priscilla and Jethro. I love the Banfield Wellness Plan it helps a lot with coast taking care of my babies. And without it I don't know if I could take them to the vet . Like on 1~23~19 I had two take 2 of my babies in it coast$126.66 reg. Fee and my fee $37.63 with my discount off their medicine . Something has changed with clinic-always a different vet-Has Dr. Bridges retired or left-he was awesome!! Made an appointment online for yearly exam since I waited on phone on hold for quite sometime. I always bring both of my dogs in together (in same room)-made the appointment with this request. Got a reminder call the day before for only one dog. I called saying that I will bring both (as I always do). Receptionist said that I would have to reschedule ... so I did for 3 hours later that same day. Arrived 5 min early--got a room within 10 min-but waited nearly an hour before anyone entered room? No one even came in to say -'sorry -we are busy-will be right with you'. I asked receptionist what is going on--she said she would look in to it...Finally the vet came in-no apologies --nothing? Then she tried to get blood for heart worm test-oh my gosh-how terrible--tech held him in sitting position-vet held up his front arm and tried to get blood--no blood -she kept trying but by this time my dog couldn't keep his paw up-so needle went flying with blood on floor and tech. I then said I can hold my dog in lying position-vet tried other arm-no luck?!!! She blamed his veins and said they would take him to back room. He came back then they took my girl-she came back with both arms taped up-had to do 2 sticks with her to--again vet said they didn't have good veins....maybe you need to get re-trained on how to draw blood. I know this isn't a big deal-but my dogs are my babies--this was traumatic for me and them!!

I am frustrated with this vet clinic. I have come here for almost 2 years but I am done. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but every single time there is some type of issue and I'm well past over it. Today, for example, we had a comprehensive exam, and they told me to drop my dogs off at 1pm. I came back at 3:30pm because they said they would call me and hadn't, turns out the vet had lunch and a meeting after we had dropped them off so at 3:30pm they still had not even been seen. Why on Earth would you have me drop them off at 1pm to go sit in a kennel for over two hours when the vet had other obligations? What is the point of this? My dogs could have been home and happy the entire day and I could have brought them in at 3, but instead you had me bring them in when the vet was busy, and left them to be in a kennel for hours. That is absurd. It is now 4:50pm and they still have not called. This appointment should take 20 minutes. I have also never had a place take it upon themselves to schedule appointments for me, at times I cannot make, repeatedly. I would like to be able to call and make my appointments, not constantly have missed calls from Banfield telling me about an appointment I didn't make. I will not be using this clinic anymore. The staff is more often than not disrespectful and unhelpful and I am tired of the complications. I would rather take my animals somewhere that they will be considered and taken care of. This expectation can clearly not be met here.

The people at the front counter lied to us, plain and simple. We were looking at the Wellness plan, and they told us to get the upgraded version because it will "cover his dental." So the plan is 44.00 a month, which totals to 528.00 a year. He got ONE dental visit and ONE cleaning, then rhey told us the plan literally only covers that. They then told us that tooth extractions were 35.00. But that's not true, bc the vet then told us it would be STARTING OUT at 300.00, and that is IF we did it all in the same single appt as the one included with their program, otherwise the office visit itself would also be another 300.00. So we are paying 528.00 for one vaccination, 2 basic office visits and to run a basic blood and urine test twice. Do not go to this vet. They are going to lie to you rob you blind.

We take our two goldendoodles here incredibly frequently. One is 9 years old and the other is 5 months. We have the vet plans with them and pay monthly for their services. I have always had good experiences until today. Our new puppy has been having some urinary issues and we scheduled with Dr. Eastburn. We’ve seen her multiple times in the past. the vet assistant asked me while I was still waiting in the waiting room if i wanted to do a urinalysis (which is expensive and didn’t even know if my pups symptoms were condusive to running one) and didn’t want to automatically do one without speaking to Dr. Eastburn first to rule out normal puppy issues, making sure we are doing all we can for our puppy, sticking to a schedule, etc. Plus, i hadn’t even been able to tell anyone, Dr included, what was going on. I’m a nurse and well aware that if I told my patients we needed to run a test, they would have questions that I couldn’t answer and would want to talk it over with the doctor first. Dr. Eastburn was incredibly rude, rushed and made me feel incompetent as a pet owner. Her attitude was evident throughout our whole 3 minute conversation. She provided no advice and told me that she couldn’t make decisions for me, that it was up to me. I completely understand that and wouldn’t want her making decisions for me anyways! She made me feel like a waste of time for trying to take care of our dog. Now we’re back to square one. We will still be using Banfield, but I won’t be returning to Dr. Eastburn anytime soon.

This was completely awful. My Great Dane is due for adequan shots, i called and made an appointment and brought her in, they said they have to special-order them and they couldn't give her one today. These shots are very important to get twice a week, when I made the appointment they said they would have it. It even said in her records; the vet tech read it right in front of me and she said she didn't know why they even made the appointment. I am devastated as I need to call around this area to try and find a vet that will give me the shots. Whats the point in a nationwide network of vets. This will cost, and they wont care. They really dropped the ball for my baby.

They treated my dog with a lot of love during his shots. They are more affordable than our regular vet, but they don't keep the exam rooms tidy. My dog does not have long hair but because they are not on top of sweeping out the exam rooms, my clothes were covered in all kinds of animals hair. I also didn't rate it high because the phone in the office kept ringing....& ringing and no one at the front desk would answer it. I will go back, but it's not a concierge type of experience.

Made an appointment for 3pm. Arrived on time. Waited 30 minutes, then left on principal alone. Why make an appointment, if it can't be kept?! Will go to a vet that wants my business.

I've been going to Banfield for almost 9 years through the care of two of my dogs. Dr. Bridges is by far the best vet we've been to, and we've tried quite a few over the years. My dog was shot in the face in a terrible accident and after critical overnight care at another facility, Dr. Bridges and Banfield nursed my dog back to excellent health through surgeries and excellent care. I would describe the office and Dr. Bridges as honest, caring, friendly, and easy to talk with (which is often not the case with other places) They show genuine concern, and ultimate respect to pets and their owners. Currently my other dog is 13 years old and has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. It is hard to find the correct insulin that will work with dogs and they've walked us through the process with great care and patience. On multiple occasions, Dr. Bridges has stayed late to talk with us about our dog's health. He is great and so is the staff!

Quality has gone down since corporate has taken over. Doctors keep changing and will not listen to the pet parent about symptons. I have been at Banfield Little Rock since 2010 when the service was GREAT, doctors were the same and were familiar with our pets and the doctors listened to what the pet parent had to say and took it into serious consideration when evaluating our pet. Now since corportate is in charge hours are inconsistent, I have called and the phone goes to voice mail. I have been a wellness plan subscriber since 2010 and need to bring in my precious pet for a UTI but only get voicemail. By the way I tried to tell the dr my dog had a UTI but he said she didn't but this is not my first rodeo with her and UTI symptons. I will have to take her somewhere else today. Time to leave Banfield

I've been with Banfield for about five years, but I recently left. The West Little Rock location has stopped most office hours and continues to lose doctors. I've tried to cancel my service but they won't return my emails and the wait on the phone is often close to an hour, making it nearly impossible for me to wait long enough to cancel. Worst of all, I took my dog in twice for a certain problem. Both times they told me the problem was allergies and both times I told them they were wrong. (I have an elderly dog with lifelong allergies - I know his symptoms.) When I took him to another clinic, a simple x-ray revealed a significant heart condition that I was now over six months behind in treating. Banfield has lost my confidence and my money - if I'm ever able to get them to cancel my subscription.

The tables where you put your pet . aren't cleaned between pets . They put a rubber mat in the indented area it was filthy under the mat . The lady helping the vet wast even a certified vet tech . worked there 14 yrs & never been to school. As we were telling the Vet the sympoms of our cat , she was looking it up on the internet to see what it was . I will never take a Animal there
