Made me feel pretty stupid considering I was there to put down my cat. I did my best and researched what might cause cat bloat and read vet literature on it, and he treated me like I was an idiot--one of the more charming things he said was, "Quit trying to learn medicine on the internet."
Oh. I'm sorry. Should...I not be informed about what my cat could be going through? Should I not even try? Especially when the last vet I called about my cat's symptoms said she could die within 2 days? He did not say a single thing I didn't already know. And besides. There's no reason to be condescending and rude to the owner of a very sick cat.
He did not ask anything about my cat. He felt her stomach, told me she had fluid (duh) but didn't ask me if there had been a change in her behavior or if she was in pain. There is no vaccination to prevent FIP, but we were berated numerous times for not getting her vaccinated (we literally only had her for 6 weeks).
And lastly: when they put her down, he shaved her paw and said, "She's still awake--we should wait a moment." He then proceeded to NOT wait and then held her down and injected her. She meowed soundlessly before dying, indicating she was NOT asleep and that what he did upset her. So her last memory was NOT falling asleep in my arms--it was being held down and injected, potentially painfully.
Maybe this is a good vet to take your pet to if your animal isn't actually sick. I found the way he dealt with me and my cat to be completely inappropriate and at the time, extremely painful.
