If I could give this place one-hundred stars I would. I rescued my dog a little over 3 years ago and this place has been with us since the beginning and I have always been impressed. Very clean and welcoming, girls at the front have always been pleasant, nurses and doctors are all so excellent. Unfortunately, my doggy best friend got diagnosed with Lymphoma and some time later it was time to say goodbye. Although it was tough, the whole team held my hand through the process and I cannot thank them enough for being so warm and compassionate ❤️ Will refer all my friends and family here always.

The entire staff from reception through the support staff,and of course the doctors, care about your experience. It is easy to schedule an appointment and the follow up is wonderful. I ALWAYS receive a call the next day to see how Joey is doing. Dr. Zola and the other doctors never rush me through the appointment. I wish my own doctor showed as much attention and passion as they do!

I was very satisfied with my visit today to University Animal Hospital!! I originally brought my dog over to Banfield, but they were extremely busy and over booked and weren’t going to be able to see my dog right away for my concerns with her cough that she developed the night before. I called UAH after leaving Banfield to see if they take walk-ins. The receptionist said she would get a tech on the phone with me to see if it would be important to bring my dog in as soon as possible. She put me on hold and when she came back she told me that a doctor said they could see me right away. When I got there they took me and my dog to a room. The vet tech was very friendly and patient with my dog. My dog was a little skittish with the stethoscope, but the tech made sure not to push my dog too hard to get her vitals because she wanted to make sure my dog had a good experience and wasn’t afraid. Dr. Nanda then came in the room to examine my dog. She too was very kind, patient, and informative. She took the time to make my dog feel comfortable around her and used squeeze cheese to make it easier to get her vitals. She gave us the necessary medication to take care of my dog’s cough and the check out process was quick and simple. I’d 100% take my dog back to UAH!! A big thank you to all of their staff!!

From the front door to the back they all seem to aspire to the same high standards no matter what their job description happens to be. This vet office is the best. They see all of our animals, including our bird which is wonderful because there are not a lot of avian vet options in the valley. They have late hours so we can be seen after work and they are always able to get us in to be seen within the week. All the staff and vets have been so kind and friendly and always take the time with our care.

Worst experience ever. Nice staff, but over worked. Really unorganized. Was seen 40 minutes after my appointment. Appointment took about 10 minutes. Dr. Zola was rude. Didn't seem to care. You will just be 1 of the 1000 animals he sees that day. He looked at my dog, took his temperature, touched him all over and sent me on my way. I paid $115 for 10 minutes to not be helped. He will write you a script for anything, but care for your animal? No. I will never return.

This Vet is awesome!!! They uphold high quality standards & are so caring for people’s pets. Dr. Steinberg is my doctor & she always goes out of her way to treat my cats to make sure they get the proper care they require even when I can’t afford some of the more expensive tests at the time. She & the staff always take such great care of them & they’re very empathetic towards them. I took one of my cats to my previous doctor over & over trying to figure out what was wrong with her. When I went to Dr. Steinburg, she knew right away that my cat had diabetes & solved the problem that the other vet couldn’t. She’s very sharp & knowledgeable. I highly recommend this vet. You can trust them to take excellent care of your pet & know that they are in great hands.

They take really good care of my dog during boarding. My only complaint they hit you with a holiday fee if you leave your dog on a weekend where the holiday is on say monday but you still get charged if you pick the dog up on say sunday

Dr. Koch is simply the best. We were lucky, and even though we thought our puppy had gotten into bleach or detergent, it turns out it was a bug bite or sting, most likely a bee. Dr. Koch knew right away that our Lab had been bitten or stung by his "Shar Pei" look. And he had just come out of surgery, meaning he took the time to check on Harrison personally. So many times with vets it seems like it's a guessing game, but not with Dr. Koch. We feel lucky to have him as our doctor for our three dogs. He has helped every one of them at one time or another.

Have taken our dogs to University Animal Hospital for years. We probably pass 20 other vets on the way there (somewhat of a trip) but worth it. Dr. Koch is the best. Very personable, very thorough, very caring, honest, and listens. We have used other Doctors there when Dr. Koch is not available, and also had very positive experiences with them. I cannot say enough positive things about University Animal Hospital and their incredible team. They have been incredible from our very first appointment when adopting my cat many years ago, through his life, and at the end when they comforted my cat and me. I still take my dog and new cat to them despite having moved miles away. Through every vaccination, ear infection, and more they're always a delight and super loving to the animals.

My dog Ruby was unwell , she has a heart murmer and was not being her normal self. She was quiet and kept shaking. Phoned University Animal Hospital and said I need to bring my dog in , it's an emergency . I asked to see Dr Bastek but was told she had no appointments as she was full. Waited a few minutes and was told Dr Bastek would see her at about 1.00 pm. She checked the dog s temperature , blood test and did a test for valley fever. She had high temperature. Gave her some pain meds and thought it was her back giving her pain but turned out to be pancreatitis. She kept me informed with the results as she got them , and my dog seems like her old self now. I cannot praise Dr Bastek enough for what she did. She is by far the best vet there , she really cares .I have been coming to this veterinary hospital for about 20 years and would not go anywhere else.

I had a really bad experience today, this was my first time encounter with racism and it destroyed my good mood entirely. Please be sure to avoid Nicole! ! She has a serious racial discrimination! ! I am going to be sick of death! ! ! Here’s the thing, the hospital called me to take serum reports in early May, and I made an appointment for the reports in June, but Miss Nicole told me that they had never received my documents. I was shocked and begged her if she can check it again for me, she said there’s nothing for me instead of checking, also, she said that I could repay to get the report if I want the report. Excuse me? I am going to board soon and right now you let me pay more than $800 again? Then, in front of the four customers, she interrupted me all the time no matter what I said! Finally, there’re two staffs friendly find my documents for me, thank you Misses. A slap in the face? In the end, Miss Nicole still didn't apologize to me before I got out of the door.

Our doodles, Wrigley and Bueller, can't get enough of Gracia, the greatest groomer ever. At the end of a long grooming day, they never want to leave! And they always look and smell fantastic when they finally do agree to come home! It's heartwarming to know that our precious pups are in good hands and in the hands of someone that they love! While Wrigley and Bueller aren't as big of fans of Dr. Zola, we are! We have been seeing Dr. Zola for the past 6 plus yrs during which he has helped us through a complicated medical condition that was exacerbated by a severe medication reaction. He knows his stuff, he takes his time with every family and shares a laugh or 2 all the while. We highly recommend the University Animal Hospital, Dr. Zola and Gracia!

Want to share the GREAT news that my pittie Quinny has fully recovered from both TECA surgeries! She had her last follow up with Dr. Koch at University Animal Hospital this week and got the all clear! The days of her scratching at her ears for hours and crying from the pain and discomfort are over!!!! If anyone’s pittie struggles with non-stop ear infections and you’ve tried everything please consider this surgery. It was life changing for Quinn and for our family who loves her so much. Dr. Koch was simply amazing. Followed up on Quinn’s progress each day for a week and even texted for an update from his vacation in Uganda!!!! From the first consult through recovery I knew Quinn was in the right hands! And the staff at UAH is amazing as well. Donny (sp?) took so much time and effort to help me with a pharmacy issue for Quinn’s meds. Staff scheduling appointments were always friendly and professional. Couldn’t have asked for better care!

He treats my “boy” with such love, is very thorough in his exams and graciously gives me advice to help my elderly “boy” so that I don’t have to spend money unnecessarily. I live downtown and while it’d be easier to go to a vet that is close by, it’s worth the trek uptown just to see Dr. Zola.

I am in the pet rescue business, as a volunteer. I have had ten dogs over teh past two decades, and this weekend two of my dogs had awful, awful diarrhea (sorry to gross you out). NO ONE was open - NO ONE would see me; until I went all the way back to my very first vet: Dr. Lawrence Zola at University Animal Hospital. I got an appointment right away with vet Dr. Diane and she spent two hours trying to help us figure out what the real issue was - and she did! Carol Anne, the receptionist is kind, and genuinely cares about all of these animals. The waiting room was spot less, the staff warm and friendly, and Dr. Diane helped me to identify the mystery behind my dogs' illness. The dogs weren't afraid - an anomaly, as usually they hate vet's offices. Their tails wagged throughout - even though they didn't feel great - and they didn't try to escape! This practice is the real deal - knowledgeable, professional and TRULY in it for the animals!

Our situation went from worse to horrid. Let me tell you what happened just so you can be wary and understand why Ms Zola and her clinic are terrible and in my opinion unsafe for the neighborhood. On the 31st of Jan, I brought my Dog in as her camp requested due to loose stools. This so as to protect every other dog both at camp and on the street. The clinic noted she needed some shots, they were not immediate but they "sell" you , as others reviews note. No one took note of her kidney problem 1/2 of 1 kidney, though this has been made clear on other visits. She had a stool problem. They filed as a regular check up rather than emergency, insurance did not pay. Dr Saunders promised that day, and again, 10 days later when he agreed it was wrong no one reached out, that I would get a call back. There was none till yesterday when I called & reached the nasty, evasive, liar Lisa Zola who gave the reason that it was a holiday weekend (back in December) ( a LIE), then that it was negative so no one needed to be called (ODD they have called before and b) all camps require proof. We decided long ago not to use them (you should too), 4 requests for a call & lack of interest for the entire Dog population of the neighborhood was a loud alarm. We have been asking for my Pups records since January, of course, in true form, no to avail. We had a big laugh when they were received yesterday after four months of requests. In true form, Zola took time to add in a last entry claiming she asked us not to come back! We all feel so sorry for her. Her need to twist it like this. To top it off, writing all about herself and then confusing it and stating it was about me. Sorry is such a powerful word, especially when you are blatantly wrong. We were, am sorry to say, happy for there were 3 of my family present, she was on speaker, & we were at big pet shop on Third ave in the 60's where the topic of Vets was brought up & all encouraged me to call yet again to try & get the records & maybe her on the phone after 4 months. Well, Zola did quite a marketing job for herself! Just want to note, that the records, had so many errors and lacking details such as weight from visits (so vital when there is a kidney issue), wrong addresses and spellings of old ones, etc. No one asks to update info? Mentioned the claim was not filed properly. It is just a mess. So, Zola who is supposed to return calls but never does (four moths!) , I believe she is a Vet and a partner of the Clinic (Scary thought), she lies outright (holiday weekend when it was not amongst many others), has no customer service skills (does not listen, creates havoc and frustration and twists it rather than deal). As people say, you will not get this from Lisa Zola. Textbook passive aggressive responses, you will. Was not surprised, Zola, instead of taking the high road, & apologizing, reacted like lowly. Am sure, as done with other reviews & on our Pups record, will do the same here. Our record indicate the times I called, they indicate lousy detailiing of the issues, lousy entries of vitals,etc. I do not mind sharing. Dates are clear. They can't be twisted. Her conversation, well, her ofc might back her up, I too would be afraid of her, if it meant my paycheck. She is mean! I strongly do not recommend this place. ZOLA & HER CLINIC UNIVERSITY ANIMAL HOSPITAL AT 354 E 66TH ST: ARE NOT KIND, NOT CARING, HAVE NO CUST SVC, DID NOT APOLOGIZE FOR BLATANT ERRORS; THEY WERE DISORGANIZED, CLAIMS WRONG, PROBLEM NOTED INACCURATE, LISA ZOLA IS A DOWNRIGHT OUTRIGHT LIAR, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE RESULT OF ALL THE ABOVE IS THE INDIFFERENCE TO CORRECTING AND APOLOGIZING RATHER THAN ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY SHOWS A COMPLETE INDIFFERENCE TO THE HEALTH OF THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD OF OUR DOGS AND ONLY SELF IMPORTANCE. THERE IS NO SELFLESSNESS HERE. WHAT HAPPENED IS A VERY FRIGHTENING REALITY! There are so many Vets close by. Please try another for the safety of our pets. If other reviews show a kind sign, maybe not valid. It is a scary place

I have been a loyal client of Dr. Zola an The University Animal Hospital for over 10 years. The doctors and awesome staff have become an integral part of my life and the lives of my beloved dog "children" BooBoo and Shaina Punim Slutsky. Everyone is wonderful - I travel a lot in my career and my dogs stay at there sometimes for days and weeks - I never, ever am concerned or worry. That is such a big relief for me. My dogs are always happy, healthy and cared for. I have and will always recommend University Animal Hospital and its dedicated doctors, medical staff, groomer (who we ADORE!) - and office staff to friends, family, and colleagues. A great vet. We brought a stray kitten in and the staff was incredibly helpful! They got us all set up to take care of our new kitten's health and let us know all the things he would need. Love this place! They truly care about your pet and have extended hours. I brought my dog Dexter in at 8pm on a Friday due to traveling for work. They we're very kind and listened to everything. I have always felt very confident that I would be given accurate information to help me make decisions regarding the care of our dog or cat. I feel free to ask as many questions as I need to in order to help me decide what to do. I experienced this once again recently when the need arose and I truly appreciate the veterinarian who helped me know some of the things that our cat was dealing with and what he felt were the priorities for her care without, at this time, having further diagnostic tests.

We had to take our 3 1/2 month old kitten in for vomiting, severe diarrhea and lethargy. We were running out of time and options. We saw Dr. Nanda, who was fabulous. She did blood work, and several other tests, gave him subcutaneous fluid and anti-nausea medication. She suggested a prescription diet and overnight he's made an amazing recovery! He went from being so sick and laying around to jumping and playing! The vomiting and diarrhea has stopped and he's definitely feeling better!!! We used University Animal Hospital for our boxer, Rylie until she was 12 years old. When she passed, the staff were compassion and sympathetic. I knew this was the best vet for our new kittens!!! Thanks so much for your staff's dedication and professionalism!!!

I needed to board my pit bull, they took really good care of her there! She got a physical & updated her bordetella shots during her stay. They groomed her & trimmed her nails while she was there, too. The staff was awesome. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in need of their services!

My dog is a part of my family. I have taken her to a vet once or twice a year since I got her in 2010. After going to UAH, it felt like it was the first time I had ever been to a vet! First, the front desk staff was amazing. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Then when I met Doctor Zola, I was blown away. He spent so much time with my dog! Going over her history, answering all my questions. Dr Zola noticed a condition that my dog had for some time, and not only did he treat it, he diagnosed WHY it was happening. He has such a knowledge and passion for animals, I am so happy I found him. And honestly, price wise, I did not pay anymore than I had previously paid at my vet in Queens, but I definitely got way more! It's also a one stop here, as they have grooming as well. And every dog that came out, looked so beautiful! I can't wait to get my baby groomed here. Its a beautiful office, great location, and 2 parking garages located on the same street. I could not be happier!

Before boarding my two dogs, I stopped by unannounced for a visit. The staff was wonderful and took me throughout the entire facility. It was very clean and smelled clean. We boarded over night in the indoor/outdoor option so our girls could go potty when the wanted to, and schedule an individual play time. Our dogs were happy and clean when we picked them up. This was our first time and we'll be back. Fees were very good compared to other facilities we've tried. Book early around the holidays!

Our 8yr old Black Lab had a intestinal blockage diagnosed by another emergency vet and we were told to wait 12 hrs and have another x-ray done. 4 hours later he was in real discomfort so we called UAH and they go him in 30 mins later! They pushed hard to get other records and did another X-ray... long story short he needed emergency surgery. The great thing is Dr. Rudolph was concerned surgery would require re-sectioning and a two to three day stay... she suggested we get surgery done at EM Vet to be sure he was properly monitored after surgery. My daughter who is a Vet Tech and I were very impressed with Dr. Rudolph and the staff! the best part.... Dr. Rudolph called the following day to see how our Kodi was doing!! Showed real concern and compassion for him and us! Can't thank her and team enough!!

My two Labradors got out one night and 2 girls [coming home from Mill Ave at 2:30a] found them and took them to University Animal Hospital. Staff checked them over for injury, made sure they were ok, read their IDchips then alerted me with good news! When it came time for their physicals and vaccinations I returned to University. They’re 4yrs old and still pretty active, so I was kinda dreading it. But Dr Hazard was tremendous, Fel and support staff took such great care of them! Nice to have University close to where I live and work (ASU). Many thanks!

Super friendly staff. Dr. Koch put me at ease when he explained how technologically advanced declawing a cat has become. My feline sailed through the surgery. They kept her 2 nights to monitor her recovery. When I returned to pick her up, the staff thoroughly explained after-care procedures. There were no surprises at all and the charges were what I had expected. All in all, my cat was treated with respect and compassion. Made a small mistake but made it up to us immediately! We have been bringing our two small dogs here for years and always had excellent care from all of the doctors and techs and staff there. Today, we picked up our dogs from boarding and learned that they had forgotten to give them some shots; the head of the medical team dropped everything and took care of the exams and shots while we waited and then waived our costs. I was amazed! What a wonderful gesture. We are so grateful. I often think of switching vets because this facility is so large and sometimes feels impersonal, but the truth is that they really go out of their way to close that gap. Plus, since they're a large operation, they have all the tools they need on site to make our dogs' lives better, no matter what they might need. Will definitely stay loyal. Thank you, UAH!

I've boarded a small animal and a dog at University twice now and found them to be lovely. As I haven't taken them in for procedures, I can't say how they are on that front, but I can say this: the boarding group is highly attentive and worth mentioning. Pickup and dropoff hours can be somewhat iffy, and occasionally restraining. There is a holiday fee, and while the facilities are not quite top notch, the animals are cared for well and given the best one can hope for. These facilities are quite lovely when considering the price - I pay about half what my friends do for boarding and receive about the same treatment and boarding options. My animals always look to be well cared for when picked up. Boarding planning is easy, and I actually appreciate that they restrict the amount of personal belongings, as it does make things more sanitary.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about University Animal Hospital. My sweet beagle Candy started having severe and frequent seizures and unfortunately, I had to make the difficult decision to ending her suffering. From start to finish, Dr. Batke and the rest of the staff were amazing. We were there well after closing to say goodbye to our sweet pup and they had no issue with it. They assured us that we were making the right decision for her and were incredibly kind. They did everything they could to identify the issue and make sure she was comfortable. You have to put it into consideration where this location is, the services they offer for your furry friend and the fact that it is your responsibility for whatever your pet needs. I've been taking my dogs here for the past few years when they need to be seen. The prices for certain needs are a lot more affordable here than anywhere else, but the general checkup appt is pretty expensive $70 just to be weighed and looked at. I believe my dog had parvo and we went in 2 days straight for fluids and an $80 shot to assist with the vomiting, spent about $320 total. They seem to care about the animals they see but the vets aren't always as pleasant as the assistants and receptionists.

If I could give Zero stars I could. This is for the front desk staff, the practice manager Lisa, and above all, Gracia the groomer. My dog had a grooming about 6 weeks prior with Gracia and although I had heard that the rates were high, which they were, I was OK with the groom and the fee. This time I was shocked. His tail was hacked and his face had long pieces hanging from it. My nanny had picked him up and paid the fee and I saw that the fee was increased. When I called to discuss the fee and the groom, the staff was rude and disrespectful, saying they increased the fee (without my consent) because my dog required more time because he was difficult and distressed. When I asked about his face and tail, although they admitted he was distressed, they also said he was "happy" there and suggested I bring him back in so they could correct the problem. When I requested a partial refund as I did not want to return my dog to a obviously traumatic experience, they were rude and insulting, refusing to do anything as one would think a reasonable business would do. I would seriously reconsider bringing your dog here to be groomed.

I absolutely love this place! The staff is extremely friendly and always seem excited that I'm leaving my pup with them. Security seems pretty well executed. Cameras and well lit exterior at night. But more importantly, lots of redundancy with doors in between exits and kennels. Unlike some kennels I've seen, an escape dog could not get out of the facility, even if a door wasn't closed properly. My high drive Dutch Shepherd somehow manages to cause trouble, but I've never felt uneasy or worried about his safety and well being. Also I was expecting from the appearance of the place to be expensive, but was extremely surprised with their rates.

We recently had our first visit to University Animal Hospital with our puppy Leo. The staff welcomed us warmly and our appointment was prompt and punctual. Dr. Zola spent all the time we needed to give us very comprehensive and helpful information about keeping Leo safe, healthy, happy and well-behaved! We got a follow up phone call the next day about tests run on Leo's stool sample and the necessary medication to rid him of a common parasite. We also happened to meet the in house groomer and I don't think I've ever met anyone who loves dogs more than this woman. She is clearly very dedicated to her clients!! Very disappointed. I used to bring my cat here a few years ago, and kept a good impression from their services. Then moved to the North Phoenix area, and recently moved back to Tempe. Now I have a dog, a pug mix. Earlier today he was bitten by a neighbors dog, nothing serious, but better be safe than sorry. Got to hospital at 4pm, and they were just closing. Google Maps said 6pm. I asked if they could just give him a quick look, perhaps get an antibiotic, but I was turned away. It was closing time, sent to emergency pet services, 20 min. away.

As always, the staff at UAH was fantastic and helpful when I brought my 3 year old dog in for a problem. I was not sure whether or not something was truly a problem, but they gave me their complete ,100 percent attention and evaluation. While the issue may have been nothing at all, I was worried and Dr Zola did everything to assure me that there was no significant problem with both a thorough physical exams and xrays. In addition, before I left they reminded me that my dog needed the most important flu shot as well as the appointment for a follow up needed second dose. This was my first non routine visit for my dog and they proved themselves once again to be above and beyond professional, kind and helpful. The only place I would ever take my dog!

Dr. Hazard and the supporting staff at University Animal Hospital actually care about their animal patients and their owners. They listen. I recently had my Labrador neutered there and it was going to be a little more than the average surgery. Vets are very knowledgeable and its a nice place, but it doesn't need to be quite so expensive. My issue is with pushing expensive tests that are not needed to solve the problem at hand. I brought my cat here because he wasn't acting himself and I mentioned that there was a problem with his ears. So is she decided that he had a heart murmur and that might be the problem so he got his ears cleaned and a $450 test. Turns out he only needed his ears clean and then he was fine after that. I'm sure that sort of thing happens all the time but I explained my financial situation and maybe the test just could have been recommended for the future, and not a solution to the current problem.

I had to take my cat here because it was having frequent urine issues. I was new to the neighborhood and was worried about taking my cat to a new place that I didn't know anything about. Thankfully they were very helpful and my cat is better off because of their treatment. The staff is friendly and the place is clean and orderly. If I had to be nit picky it would be that I waited a while after my appointment time but the wait was worth it here so I didn't mind, but I would recommend to others to plan accordingly.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for your compassionate care of our Darla during an extremely trying time in our lives. Dr. Batke was an amazing doctor for her when she first got Valley Fever. I was nervous when we had to see a different doctor when she was having her more recent issues, but Dr. Hazard was equally compassionate and professional. He was so genuinely caring, it made everything at least a little easier. We found out she had cancer from Dr. Hazard on Thursday, and decided to schedule euthanasia for Monday. The front office/lobby employees were very professional, empathetic and helpful, especially since I'm very pregnant and needed a lot of help transporting her. I had to call today to see if we could come in early as Darla would not take her pain pills and we couldn't let her hurt anymore. Even though there were no appointments available, the woman on the phone (I was distraught and didn't catch a name, but it started with an A) was so understanding and got us in. When we did get there, even though we technically didn't have an appointment, the conscientious forethought of the office and caring staff took care of the little things (payment ahead of time, special room, etc). Made everything so much easier. We will recommend your office forever. I just wanted to say thank you for everything.

I just had my second experience with University Animal Hospital and I have to say, I love them! Dr. Flegenheimer is the BEST!! Last year he did emergency surgery on my kitten after part of her tail got severed by our new power recliner. It was a terrifying ordeal, but he saw us right away and took great care of her. He was so kind and compassionate. I felt like he genuinely cared about her and not just about how much money he could get out of me (unlike the emergency clinic I took her to first). Last week, I came home from vacation to find that my almost 10 year old Great Dane was ill. My suspicion was that it was a serious condition that needed immediate attention. Once again, I reached out to University Animal Hospital. They got us in right away, and once again Dr. Flegenheimer saved the day. He did surgery to correct the problem and she is recovering beautifully. If I lived closer to Tempe, I would take all my pets there. I hope to never have another emergency situation with my fur babies, but if I do, University Animal Hospital will be my first phone call.

Dr Hazard is amazing and such a caring doctor. He has taken wonderful care of our senior dog, Sunny, and we couldn’t be happier. Dr Hazard even went out to our car and lifted our 70 pound dog up into our SUV (when my mother-in-law had to take Sunny to the vet and she wasn’t strong enough to get Sunny into the car). Everyone who works there is really nice. The front desk staff even came out to the parking lot to help my mother in law get Sunny out of the car. Highly recommend this vet clinic! And they are open nights and weekends.

Beware of Dr. Zola and his staff - they are looking to optimize their fees and perform as many procedures as possible. An average visit costs $400 plus you walk away with a follow up for something your pet absolutely needs to have done. Dr. Zola called a benign fatty deposit a tumor and recommended that it be surgically removed. He was also the only doctor who detected a murmur in my dog's hart, despite the fact that only a few months earlier she was seen by a specialist who opined she definitely didn't have any. He also was the only one to detect that one of my dog's teeth was "shaky" and most likely would need to be extracted. I'm glad I pulled her out of the $850 dental cleaning procedure in time because he would have taken her tooth out for no reason. Both my neighbor and I used to treat our dogs there and were able to compare notes last time we brought our dogs for a dental cleaning. He's an unscrupulous, money grabbing, lying, hack.

I took my dog here a few years ago to get some stitches after he got bit by another dog. They did a pretty lousy job of stitching him up and I ended up having to take him to another vet for treatment. I will say, they are extremely responsive and prompt about return phone calls in regards to last minute pet boarding. They aren't the cheapest but in a pinch you could probably get your pet looked after pretty easily.

I go to this vet just for Dr. Evan Ware. He's the best vet. He does TPLO surgeries every week for dogs with torn ACL's. It's an expensive surgery no matter where you go so you may as well go here and trust that your dog is going to be okay with Dr. Ware. Then it's up to you for post op care. Dr. Ware is not only a talented surgeon, he truly cares about your pet - not just looking to jack up the price like some other places do. Anyone can do a rabies shot but if your pet is in serious trouble go see Dr. Ware.

Nothing short of Fantastic! We brought our puppy Corny in to see Dr. Zola a few months ago after hearing positive things about University Animal Hospital from a few people in our building. It was well worth it. The doctor was helpful with our questions (we had many because this is our first puppy) and gave us a lot of information. My big advice? Take a small notepad with you. Dr. Zola will give you a lot of information. I started jotting down suggestions about two minutes into the exam. He talked about vaccines, heartworms, some good house-training tips. I haven't had much experience with dogs or puppies so this was helpful. He clearly knows a lot about pet care. He helped us pick out a good food that has since been helping Corny with his tummy issues (puppies + diarrhea = no fun) and suggested some supplements that have been very effective for this issue as well. A month ago we brought Corny in for his Lyme vaccine and a "spa-day" with their groomer, Gracia. Wow, was she a ball of energy. She seemed to immediately bond with Corny. The first thing she did was sit down in the lobby and as she's petting Corny and talking to him she tells us that she let's the dog set the pace -- because he's a puppy and not used to grooming she wants him to get used to the experience and have a positive association with it. She said "I'm not a car wash. If you want him in an hour I can't promise that. Leave him with me for the day and let him play. I can go slow and keep him calm. If he wants a break he can play with the other dogs and I'll work on someone else for a bit then come back to him." She basically said her goal is to made Corny happy, not me -- which made me instantly love her. She was honest and basically said "Your dog is my #1 priority -- not meeting any time goal" etc. That made me feel very at ease. He was there from about 9:30 to 5:30. When I got there to pick him up Gracia brought him upstairs. Corny was clean and seemed extremely happy. Gracia showed me a picture on her phone of him playing with some of her other grooming dogs (she lets them play in the room when she's doing the grooming). She told me he made a friend then showed me a video of them playing. We ended up chatting for a few minutes about treats and his stomach problems, etc. She seemed to really care about Corny. When I went to pay the bill and she went to the back Corny followed her down the hall. I laughed so hard. He didn't want to go home. I'm sure he had a good time because Visit 3. --- last week we came in to get his second Lyme vaccine and when we rounded the corner of 66th street Corny started pulling me toward the building. When we were there I asked if Corny could say 'Hi' to Gracia and they called her downstairs and asked her to come up. She came running up to Corny and he jumped on her immediately. She asked me about his stomach issues and if he was doing better. She clearly really cares about the dogs. She joked that she was going to keep him and move to Florida. Then she started jumping around with Corny and playing with him in the lobby. We're definitely going to be bringing him here for future haircuts. The free day of day-care with the grooming is such a great bonus. I asked the girl at the front desk if she'd ever heard of a dog pulling the owner TO the vet office and she smiled and proceeded to tell me that a lot of Gracia's grooming dogs apparently do this. I found that to be a good sign. The prices were also very reasonable compared to the quotes I had gotten from other vets in the area when I called around a few months ago. I didn't call around too much for grooming at that point because I wasn't looking to get him groomed but I didn't think the total charge was outrageous. It seemed pretty fair for the area. I also figure a day of day-care for dogs in the city is pretty pricey so a day of free play-time for free when he gets groom makes it pretty worth it. The staff is very genuine. The nurses I've dealt with have been very on point. Everyone came across very relaxed and kind. Overall a wonderful experience.

We have been using University Animal Hospital for over six months now since getting our first puppy Leo. They are wonderful. They always call after Leo has gotten a vaccine to follow up and see how he is doing. When I call with questions they always take time to answer and give me loads of helpful information. They touched base several times throughout the day of his surgery and that night and his post surgery instructions were very helpful.
